"Come on big guy, is that the best you've got?"
Nieraan's dark laugh was punctuated by the sound of thunder booming off in the distance. He glanced off in the direction the sound came from, to look at the massive thunderheads that were brewing on the horizon, further out on the grasslands. It'd be a while before they made it here, though. He still had more time to spend with his plaything.
Said plaything was not at all happy with Nieraan. It screeched at him violently and lashed out, but Nieraan, being the nimble young man he was, rolled down and to the side through the grass, evading the strike with apparent ease. "You were closer that time! Still missed, though. You're not very good at this."
The hood of his jacket fell back as he moved, and let his shaggy black and blue-streaked hair free to be blown about his head by the wind. Nieraan laughed some more, dancing around the creature's strikes as if he were having the time of his life. A twisted sort of amusement filled his yellow eyes--an amusement born of the absolute knowledge that he was far superior to this beast. It wasn't something that could be argued. It was fact.
The beast in question was an Acklay. Oh, staying away from it had been a challenge at first, when Nieraan first happened upon it in the forest. He even had a few little cuts here and there from trying to evade it, as the forest was think, and much harder to maneuver in. Unfortunately for his friend, they'd been on the edge of the forest and once they came out to the open plains, it never had a chance. Everything had just been downhill for the Acklay from there, especially after Nieraan had the splendid idea to hurl a decent-sized boulder at one of its legs.
So now he was having a good time, with his hobbling, near-crippled Acklay friend. A number of lightsaber burns adorned its hide. Nieraan had taken pains to make sure none of his strikes were fatal. No, not yet; he was having far too much fun watching the Acklay struggle after him to kill it. But still, he'd wasted too much time fooling with it. It would be best to finish the thing off and get back to his ship before the storms hit.
"Well, friend, I'm sorry to say that our time together is drawing to a close," said the young Firrerreo, taking one of his sabers from where it hung on his hip. The golden blade flared to life in his hand, and then Nieraan was moving toward the beast, rather than away from it. "It was fun while it lasted. I'll be sure to tell Silas about you."
Silas. Silas Isao. He was the man that Nieraan first encountered when he went to join the Sith. Silas was also, like Nieraan, a Firrerreo. And best of all, he was strong. Nieraan was sure the man probably didn't have the best opinion about him, especially with the way that Nieraan had been so... rude, to say the least, at their first meeting. But Nieraan respected him in his own way. He'd at least taken steps to avoid pissing Silas off too much again. Partly because he didn't enjoy being strangled... But Silas was the reason Nieraan was here, if indirectly. Their trip to Dxun had been fascinating, and Nieraan had decided afterwards that, when he got the chance, he might visit some more worlds like it. What better way to stay sharp than going off onto worlds like Dxun, or Vendaxa, where the wildlife was as dangerous as any man could be? Well, that was the story, anyway. So far, Vendaxa had been entertaining, with its Acklay, but Nieraan hadn't found much else. Perhaps more would come in time.
"Let's make this quick, shall we?" he asked the Acklay, looking up at it. The Acklay tried to attack him again. Its front left leg shot out, but Nieraan just spun away. This time, though, he struck out with his lightsaber as he spun, and the golden blade tore through the creature's flesh like it was paper. There wasn't anything the Acklay could do to stay up, with both of the legs on one side disabled or missing, and so it toppled over sideways. It was through.
Nieraan took his time with cutting the other legs off, and after a few long moments he stood before his toy. Once, it'd been a proud predator, but now? Now it was nothing more than a torso with a very loud head attached to it. For a moment, Nieraan was tempted to see what using Force Drain on the thing would be like, but he decided against it. No, instead, he just cut out at the Acklay's neck, and the long, slender head fell to the ground.
And that was that.
"Well that was something," he muttered. The lightsaber returned to its place on his hip, and Nieraan moved off, to start heading back toward his ship, without so much as a second thought about the dead animal behind him.
