Name: Je'Baru Nargruk
Race: Noghri
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Height: 5'6''
Weight: 200
Birth place: Honoghr
Appearance: Gray skin with forest-green undertones and
dark beady little eyes.
Personality: Je'Baru is often quiet, calm, and watchful. Only when he had either a good kill or got to use his weapons. If not then he gets jumpy, angry, blood thirsty. He tends to like people who have strength of power, but not for show. His one weakness is for great beauty rare in the Noghri race. A jungle behavior he will show when on the hunt, kill or be killed. Destruction and collateral damage is not in his vocabulary.
"With shadowed emotions and reptilian stillness this Noghri's
thirst for the hunt is seen in the low rumble of his silenced
growl." -Marcus Foxworth, journal entry
Profession: Bounty Hunter / Mercenary
Bio:[/u]
He began his training at the age of three, when he held his first Kabhac blade. His talent developed later than most at the age of 7. Mixing off-world tech with traditional weapons was never looked upon favorably by the Noghri. The Nargruk family of the Cairysh clan held different views which led them to be considered outcasts. The Nargruk family never shared in the tribal feuds, but focused on the advancement of the Noghri race. Technology and the cultivating of the rare animal species of Honoghr was their lot in life.
Telphyr are haired slugs native to Honoghr. The Nargruk came
to know them for their ability to absorb poisons, toxins, and
produce a breathable atmosphere. These creatures were highly
valued because most of the species that Je'Baru's family
gathered were very poisonous. The Telphyr's second unique
quality is that they excrete a fluid similar to battle stimulants
when exposed to adrenaline. To survive in the wild, Telphyr often
joined with larger animals as symbiotes. Thus, when a being is
joined with a Telphyr, they are imbued with special adroitness
each time their levels of adrenaline rise. Je'Baru was particularly
fascinated with this discovery and decided to experiment with it
himself; thus why he wears a Telphyr on his head, much like a
ponytail. This may have made him look strange but he quickly
realized his training had become easier for him. Je'Baru mastered
the Silent Stalk technique rather quickly. Most Noghri master
this move at around 13, so when Je'Baru mastered it at age 9,
the other clans became very suspicious of the Nargruk family.
Hunter's Test
The event that sealed the Nargruk family's demise and
Je'Baru's future was the "Hunter's Test." Various mercenaries are
invited to test and chose an apprentice. The test involved all of
the aspects of a Noghri's life of training -strength, speed,
accuracy, and stealth. The apprentice in question was pushed to
their limits in all of these. The Hunter's Test ended with an event
called Gruthku, a battle to the death between a chun* and
a Vith.**
*A young one chosen for the Hunter's Test.
** A very large lizard with chameleon ability.
Many chun met their end in the Gruthku. As for Je'Baru's it
was quite different - it only lasted about five minutes. They had
forgotten that it was the Nargruk family who took care of the
animals used in the Gruthku. Further, it was mainly Je'Baru
who looked after the Vith, his job was to feed and care for the
Vith hatch-lings. Young vith are very imprint-able, so the Vith
used in the event saw Je'Baru as a pack mate and would
not fight him. The bounty hunters and mercenaries present were
disappointed in this turn of events, except for one. Marcus
Foxworth was intrigued by Je'Baru's performance. He saw a part
of himself in the youth, a part that belonged to another life
twenty years ago when he had gone by a different name.
Marcus knew that with some more polishing, Je'Baru would make
a hunter to be reckoned with. At once Marcus began talks with
the Maitrakh of Cairysh clan about Je'Baru's apprenticeship.
When word got out that 10 year old Je'Baru was accepted, many
other families of the Cairysh clan vowed Bekhol* toward the
Nargruk family. Marcus found out about the Bekhol. He took
Je'Baru and left Honoghr immediately, never to return. Within
mere hours, Je'Baru would prove to be the only survivor of the
Nargruk family.
*Behkol- Clan feud to the death.
The First Bounty
The next ten years with Marcus was very educational albeit
mostly uneventful, until it came time for Je'Baru's first solo
bounty. Je'Baru's first bounty was on Nar Shaddaa. The bounty
was on a low level thug, so Je'Baru thought it wasn't going to be
to hard. Finding his prey in the metropolis proved to be more
difficult than he had expected. Sounds and smells over whelmed
Je'Baru's finely tuned senses. Remembering the lessons he had
learned from Marcus, Je'Baru decided to invest in some tech of
his own, namely an ear droid similar to the one Marcus used.
It was confusing at first, but after half a day getting use to the
new equipment, the ear droid, sensor gauntlet, and repulser shin
bracers, movement and tracking became that much easier.
Linking the new equipment with his Khabac shield gauntlet,
Je'Baru went in search of his prey. Finding his prey was a
cakewalk with the D.N.A. sample he had acquired earlier that
day, and "capturing" the prey was almost pointless. When
Je'Baru found him, the man was stone-cold drunk. Transporting
him was not very pleasant for Je'Baru. The prey, Cal Suul,*
smelled of Nerf and engine fluid. On the transport back to
Corellia, Je'Baru was forced to listen to Cal Suul's sad little story
about his pathetic lot in life. Four times Je'Baru wanted to space
the noisy man. He would have too if Marcus hadn't found a
proverbial gemstone in Cal's story. Forgoing the bounty on
Corellia, Marcus jumped to Coruscant because Cal had
some info on some sith bases and weapon cashes. Although
Marcus and Je'Baru didn't get any reward for the bounty, they did
get hired on by the Republic to do some work, to gather more
information on the sith and their activities.
The Loss of Marcus
Je'Baru, Age 24
Marcus was a hunter of simple tastes. Nothing special (besides
his appearance as a Nagai) could be said about him. A man with
no known family, history, or outstanding skill other than
appearing ordinary. With only his ship the Foxfire, a custom
built vessel of mixed origin, Corellia-Hutt-Republic-Mon Cal and
Twi'lek, Marcus went largely unnoticed by the galaxy. If one would
look deeper however, they would find something very impressive
indeed, his hunter's record. The record was longer than most of
the top bounty hunters and mercenaries of the time, albeit filled
with low level thugs almost as common as himself. None would
have thought that he would earn himself a spot on the sith hit
list. Since the event with Cal Suul, the sith had tried and failed to kill him many times.
Everyone who knew him had heard that Marcus had an
apprentice, but no one could ever recall seeing him. The sith
themselves, when following Marcus, never saw this phantom
apprentice, they could only sense the dual life-force of Je'Baru
and his Telphyr. Je'Baru would remain a mystery to them, almost
making it seem that Marcus was blessed with the touch of the
force. The five attempts on Marcus' life had went horribly wrong
for the sith. Either they had to back off because of the Republic
assisting Marcus, or they were ambushed by Jedi, or because of
interference from the phantom apprentice. When Marcus died it
was not a silent one as many would have thought.
On a trip to Nar Shaddaa Marcus went to the White Rancor to meet a contact about a sith weapon cache. A lone rogue sith operative who was a bit over zealous to rejoin his brothers planned to kill Marcus at cantina on Nar Shaddaa. He was the unknown informant. Instead of attacking outright, trying to poison his drink, or hiring a hit man, the rogue sith decided to simply bring the cantina down on Marcus. But as always, something went wrong. The cantina was a local hang out for a Hutt crime lord and his cronies. When the building began to fall, the Hutt was the first to make for the exit. The Hutt's hover-sled got caught in the doorway, wedged tight, trapping the rogue sith and everyone else in the cantina. The destruction of the White Rancor was on the holonews for weeks. Je'Baru was starting his own adventure during all of this.
The Perfect Hunt
"Never go after the perfect hunt, learn to recognize when it's
too good to be true." This saying kept running though Je'Baru's
mind, but it was too simple of a hunt to pass up. The credits
were unusually high for two new Bounty Hunters. So easy, what
was more it felt right, like he made up his mind before the
protocol droid finished the proposal. The problem in this was
that he always wanted to stay in the shadows, but today Marcus
ordered him to "see and be seen" - to make some noise. Why?
Je'Baru didn't know. So he decided to go ahead on the double
live capture - something he did not like very much. He was given
the locations* of two spots the prey would most likely be at
before they headed to the storage units owned by fellow
Mandos.
*Cantinas: Laughing Mynok and White Rancor.
Getting DNA from one proved difficult, but he managed to get
saliva from the Mandalorian's glass at the White Rancor. It was
not because the prey was expecting trouble but because Marcus
was there. Je'Baru had an easier time getting the DNA sample he
needed from the second Mando at the Laughing Mynok. The second prey seemed to be hanging around a Nagai female with a none-too-cheery disposition. (This surprised him, Marcus was the only other Nagai he had ever seen.) Je'Baru's plan was simple. He just pushed a drunk into the Nagai woman. The poor sod spilled his Seven Wonders drink all over her. (Seven Wonders is acidic and heavily dyed.) The result was a glorious bar fight over a ruined outfit.
After that, it was only too easy for Je'Baru to collect some
blood from the second Mandalorian, who was too occupied with
the brawl to notice. Once again Marcus' words about the perfect
hunt came to Je'Baru's mind. Je'Baru began to question the
contract. What would he do about the prey? Sure they were new
to the bounty hunting business, but they were Mandalorians
after all, the level of difficulty described on the contract should
have been marked higher. Je'Baru was beginning to think that he
was meant only to be a distraction. But why? Why would
someone go to all of this trouble and then hire some one else for
the kill? Another part of Marcus' saying came to Je'Baru's mind: "Beware of the perfect hunt, because when it goes wrong it goes sith wrong." There was the answer Je'Baru was looking for, sith. It had to be a sith plot. Je'Baru messaged Marcus at once but it was already too late. Marcus, the first and only teacher Je'Baru cared for had been dead for several minutes by
then. Je'Baru went to collect some things from the Foxfire,
Marcus' beloved ship. He got there only to find it being stripped by local scavengers and hoodlums. Awash with grief, Je'Baru had
nothing left but his job. Je'Baru wanted what was his. He didn't
care who they were or how many of them there was. In his rage, Je'Baru waded through them as each ran to attack him. They fell at his feet like new born Nerf in a slaughter house. When Je'Baru collected his stuff along with Marcus' travel kit.* Looking at his chrono, Je'Baru decided to set a trap to see whether his targets were friend or foe.

[glow=yellow,2,300]Friend or Prey[/glow]
Je'Baru arrived at the supply storage half an hour before the
the prey would arrive. He enlisted the reluctant help of the
protocol droid that had approached him with the contract. Using
the droid as voice bait, Je'Baru was able to observe the prey
without being noticed, just like the sith agent had done to him
earlier that day. Je'Baru did this to avoid a needless fight and a
profitless hunt. The prey arrived a little late probably in part
because of the mess made at the Laughing Mynok. Je'Baru still
wished he could have stayed to watch to the brawl, but it was
obvious who had won out.
The Mandalorians were a little surprised to see the
dismembered protocol droid sitting there, basking in the only
street-light Je'Baru hadn't disabled. The protocol droid gave a
plaintive cry for help, drawing the Mandos forward. When they
asked what it was doing there, the droid repeated the questions
Je'Baru had "persuaded" it to say. The first question was
whether they knew about the bounties on their heads. As
Je'Baru was getting the answers he sought, a new odor came to
him. This scent Je'Baru detected was like that of Marcus'. It was
had to be the scent of a close blood-relative. Just then, the
female Nagai came up and started to talk to the droid. She was the one Je'Baru had pushed the drunk into at the Laughing Mynok. The realization hit Je'Baru that she was kin to Marcus. The group's answers and the bloodline scent confirmed the questions that had still been on Je'Baru's mind. The rogue sith wanted a
distraction so that he could get Marcus away from Je'Baru and kill
him. Je'Baru, deciding the problem was over with moved through
the shadows and collected the thermal detonators set for remote
activation that he had placed around. Finally, he decided it was
time to come out of the shadows, to no longer hide under his
former teacher's shadow. In doing so, Je'Baru started his next
true adventure.
The Pact with the Pack
Je'Baru achieved another personal milestone when he
apologized to his former prey, who as it had turned out, had
been innocent. Never had he regretted doing anything more
so than taking the bounty on the Mandalorians. Je'Baru knew the
battle would have been fierce, most likely ending in death for
them all. Nothing would have been more tragic than for Je'Baru
to discover that he had killed the only known living relative to
Marcus Foxworth.
Je'Baru's revealed himself from the shadows, making the
Mandalorian trio turn to him with their weapons raised. Je'Baru
tried to look as peaceful and friendly as possible, but it was to no
avail. Everyone knows how hard old habits are hard to break,
and for Je'Baru they were nearly impossible. Seeing the weapons
trained on him, he immediately released the catch on the
Marcus' travel pack, releasing all 30 thermal detonators the
compartment contained. They hit the floor harmlessly and rolled
everywhere, it was a good thing he had already disabled the
remote detonation. Fear and shock took hold of the
Mandalorians and two of them froze for an instant. This was all
that Je'Baru needed to redeem the situation. He pushed aside
all emotion and strode over to the Nagai, a nervously fired
blaster bolt from the lead Mandalorian striking the wall as he
moved from the spot where he had been standing. Je'Baru
stopped about five paces from the Nagai and knelled down. In
his clearest Galactic Basic, he apologized for the incident. Asking
for her forgiveness and that of the Mandalorians, he then
promised to devote himself to the service of the house of Marcus
Foxworth. Once she had shook off the effects of her shock, the
female asked him who Marcus was. Puzzled, Je'Baru thought
back to a few nights prior to one of many of Marcus' nightly
rantings. "Why do are you calling me Marcus my love? I am Hoji
Sant Kr'sado." Marcus had kept repeating that throughout the
night. Je'Baru repeated his promise, this time using the name
Hoji Sant Kr'sado. The look on the Nagai's face was one of shock
and recognition. Reluctantly she accepted the voluntary service
of the fearful creature. She introduced herself as A'den Otani.
While she introduced her brother Tor Otani, Je'Baru caught a new
scent that came to him on a slight breeze. The new scent
reminded Je'Baru of wet dog. The canine scent was ferrel and
contained humanoid coloring. At once, Je'Baru took a defensive
posture between Miss Otani and the direct in which he smelled
the canine scent. It was a Shistavanen. It came open handed
toward the group and said "It seems we have all been deceived."
He introduced himself as Katar and recounted his experience
with the very same protocol droid that had approached Je'Baru;
it became apparent that they were all on the same side as it
were. So thus a new pack was formed. Je'Baru thought that
Marcus would be proud of him to finally step out and join a pack
that had the potential of greatness.
The Mystery of Marcus Foxworth
Je'Baru's training had always been strange for as long as he
could remember. The training Marcus put Je'Baru through would
sometimes even boarder-ed on the line of cruelty. At all times
Je'Baru was to use his Silent Stalk ability if wanted to be
around Marcus. If Je'Baru made any noise or movement that
Marcus could hear, see, or notice in any way Je'Baru would be
punished by either cleaning the whole ship inside and out (on
planet or in space). The other punishment would be to defend
only while Marcus practiced his skills with one of his Beskad
sabers. On one occasion, Je'Baru failed to sneak up on a bounty
which made the capture very hard for Marcus. The punishment
Marcus had dealt out to him had been harsh. Je'Baru again had
to defend, but this time Marcus used his rarely seen shoto. The
resulting consequence was Je'Baru having to have his Khabac
shield gauntlet repaired as well as get some minor cuts and
burns attended to. So for Je'Baru, silent stalking all the time
became second nature, even though Marcus always seemed to
know in which direction Je'Baru was coming from.
Je'Baru's training would seem to some (if seen) to be a mass
mix of cultures. The relentless attacks of the Mandalorians,
the Republic's orderly timing of traps, and the Twi'lek's graceful
yet deceptive movements. Marcus even used the concepts of the
Trandoshan's savageness along with the raw power of the
Wookiees for his pupil's training. Marcus had known Je'Baru
would need special training from the first moment he say him.
The "Hunters Test" had proved this to Marcus, as he had
watched the Noghri fend off a creature ten times his size.
Knowing little of Noghris, Marcus had taken in as much
knowledge as he could while on his visit to Honoghr. He found
the Noghri's ability to detect bloodline relations to be the most
intriguing and resourceful of all the skills Je'Baru had. Je'Baru
could detect the lineages whether the individual's blood was still
pumping or not. As his skill in this increased, Je'Baru had begun
to see the relatives and family members as colors and shades. J
Eventually, Je'Baru's ability to detect bloodline was not limited to
just sentient races, but to all creatures.
The relentless training Marcus was putting Je'Baru through
had brought back many memories of his own past life. Je'Baru
being a lite sleeper, had heard much but understood little of
Marcus' nightly dreams and sleep-talking. This led Je'Baru to
question his teacher on a few subjects, such as the shoto
weapon. Marcus had never given him a straight answer, but
Je'Baru was able to deduct some clues. The shoto looked to
Je'Baru like a smaller version of the Jedi's light saber. Marcus'
behavior however was nowhere near like that of the stuffy Jedi,
or even the destructive sith.
On one occasion a fanciful thought came to Je'Baru's mind in
that maybe Marcus was a member of a secret organization or
cult. This idea came because of the Marcus' many sayings of
about quietness, balance, and power, as well as his zealot-like
behavior on the hunt. While silent stalking, sometimes Je'baru
would catch Marcus muttering, seemingly to nothing but his own
shadow. Each passing day along with each new clue made the
mystery of Marcus that much harder and grandiose. Marcus'
secrets died with him, but Je'Baru still yearned to learn the truth.
Now, with the revelation of a kin of Marcus finally found, maybe
all the questions that Je'Baru had can finally start to be laid to
rest.

--Marcus' words in red
--Je'Baru's word's in green
So much....so very much. So very much in this
universe to see and know. There is so much I don't know.
Still yet again, Je'Baru's thoughts wandered while he
waited for the mission to begin. "Shadow! Shadow,
pay attention when I'm speaking to you. We've got work to
do." "Yes, Alpha. I will do as you command."
Je'Baru responded, suddenly more alert. Je'baru worried about
the outcome of this hunt. It was their first mission since Marcus'
brush with death. "Now remember, when the crate stops,
count sixty and exit. Head for the shadows and let no one see
you or else." At that or else, Je'Baru wondered what
other twisted idea of punishment Marcus had in store for him.
Not wanting to think about it, he focused on the mission at hand.
The crate was cramped and hot and the discomfort was starting
to wear on his nerves. Shipped in like some prized sculpture,
Je'Baru had been waiting for two days. Hunger was starting to
set in. He would even eat the 'cooked food' that most commonly
ate; yet he found no satisfaction unless he had to kill it first and
then eat it while it was still warm. The moment the crate stopped
Je'Baru counted to sixty and then opened the crate. He made it
to the shadows with no problems. "Too easy."
Disappearing into the shadows was the easy part, since half of
the entryway he had to move through was shrouded in them.
The hard part was making his way through the city. Making his
way through the shadowed alleys, his mind began to wander
again. Part of him wanted to know what city he was in. The
smells and sounds of the Twi'lek city tugged at his heart and
mind. Je'Baru had always craved knowledge, it had proven to be
his major weakness.
Je'Baru moved around behind a large temple-like building,
trying not to breach the light coming though its windows. He
froze when an angelic voice singing a hauntingly beautiful, heart-
wrenching dirge. Lured as if being called home, he found the
window and looked in. What he saw will stay with him till he
dies. An angelic Twi'lek clothed in sun-yellow silk and adorned
with gold chains danced and sang. Her outfit clashed with her
silver skin and black tribal tattoos. Je'Baru watched as if in a
trance, unable to hear Marcus howling at him through his ear
droid's speaker. It wasn't until another Twi'lek, a young male,
came in and began to chide the female for making him late did he
realize that he was in the lit window. Hiding quickly, he heard
them talk. "We have to run now if we're going to
make it to the ceremony, Aila." "Don't worry Elav, I know
all of the shortcuts between here and the Brier. So quit acting
like my father." The instant they left the room, Je'Baru
snapped back to the reality of being short on the scheduled time
to snag the information from the scout droid. Totally ignoring
Marcus' fowl words of punishment and possible dismemberment,
Je'Baru flew through the city like a speeder bike on the dune
seas of Tatooine.
Stopping on the eve of a second story building, Je'Baru waited
for the man that would be carrying the scout droid."Finally
you're there, I almost thought I'd have to come down there
myself. You ready? Or are you still thinking of that Twi'lek?"
"I'm in position and ready." "Don't get distracted by all the head-tails.
Focus on the mission. I don't want a mediocre job here, this has
to be done perfectly." Je'Baru settled in for the shadowed
strike. Engaging his heart tracker, Je'Baru searched the crowd for
the human that would be carrying the droid they needed. Finding
him was not easy for Je'Baru; most all humanoids looked alike to
him. Once he found his mark though, setting the trap was fun.
Je'Baru killed the power to a section of lights along the side of
the building, but only for about five seconds so that any
observers wouldn't be too suspicious.
One moment the human carrying the droid was there, the next
he was gone. Je'Baru loved using his Khabac shield gauntlet to
whip-snatch things, it made for noiseless kills and quick get-
aways. Stripping the carrier of his package and valuable items,
Je'Baru left the human to be found on the eve that he was
perched on. "Got it. Heading back to the warehouse now."
"Careful, I just got a report about something going
down at the warehouse." Je'Baru quickly sailed over the
rooftops, using his khabac grappling system to swing his way
back to the crate that he had been in for two days. Je'Baru
arrived to find three Twi'lek guards searching the area. Scanning
the area himself, he found the culprit to the mess. It was just a
run away slave with a tracking collar.
Silently dropping down behind the slave for a knock out blow,
Je'Baru dragged the slave into a darker area of the warehouse.
Moving back to his crate and placing the deactivated droid inside,
he hoped the mail would not loose the shipment. The guards
were coming back now. He had to draw their attention away
from the area. Remembering the slave collar, Je'Baru went back
and cut the collar off of the slave. As soon as he did, the tracking
signal activated, just as he had known it would. Je'Baru waited
for the guard to get a little further away before bolting through
the nearest window. Taking the slave with him, he ended up
going that same temple from before. Je'Baru ditched the now
freed slave in the Aila woman's room, confident that she would
take care the slave.
Now Je'Baru had to get rid of tracking collar. He sweeped
behind a waiting speeder, attaching the collar to the under-
carriage. Getting exhausted, Je'Baru decided to hide the now
bustling crowd. Finally he could rest and wait for Marcus to pick
him up later that night.
While waiting, he watched the local Twi'leks as they talked. He
was amazed by the subtle twitching of their head-tails. A portion
of their conversations went completely unheard, so much like the
Vith lizards he had once raised. A part of him groaned for the loss
being able to return to his home planet. Je'Baru sat there
stroking the Telphyr until it began to purr silently in return. He
knew this was one thing a Twi'lek's head-tails could not do.
"Shadow you there? I'm at the space port berth 15za7.
Let's get off this rock." Marcus was right, they had stayed
long enough, it was time to leave. Thinking of home was not
going to help nor was indulging in his attraction to head-tails.
"Right. I'll be there in five." Making his way back to the space port,
Je'Baru passed the temple once again. Seeing the woman called
Aila care for the ex-slave girl's wounds made Je'Baru's day.

[glow=yellow,2,300]Friend or Prey[/glow]
He introduced himself as Katar and recounted his experience
with the very same protocol droid that had approached Je'Baru;
it became apparent that they were all on the same side as it
Now, with the revelation of a kin of Marcus finally found, maybe
all the questions that Je'Baru had can finally start to be laid to
rest.

Now providing air support and Intel for Je'Baru
