(Errg, I lost my original post and now have to repost this. Not as good as the original.)
Jedi Guardian, Jedi Master, Jedi Weapon Master, Jedi High Council Member, all these titles he has bore and what has he left behind? He had one padawan who failed him shortly after the trials, and the only thing he had done in the realm of passing on his experience was teaching younglings basic combat techniques. Recently he had taken special interest in teaching combat to younglings for he had finally slain his inner demons about padawans. He had absolved himself of his previous mistake and refused to let his shame stand in the way of what he felt was his duty, the duty of all Jedi - to pass on what they know to the next generation.
Recently a strange fellow caught his keen discerning eye for potential. The boy looked Twilek, but he was the strangest Twilek Soka had ever seen, but he seemed capable of learning much more. For a short period Soka questioned himself, wandering if he was right or if this padawan would be corrupted by him as his previous one was, but he cut those self-doubting thoughts and knew only that he would do his best. The notion of failing another padawan was silenced and he moved to take on the youngling. He had to expedite the process though, knowing the boy was already twelve and running out of time. So he summoned the boy to a meditation room where personal and careful analysis of the boy could be done.
Soka sat in the meditation chamber, the room was devoid of noise except for the babble of the fountain the separated the entrance to the chamber and the outer wall. He was calm and serene engaging the deep introspection as he searched within himself. He was just continuing the master his own body, key to mastering many other things. He had shaved his head perfectly bald once again, trimmed his beard, and wore simple robes. To those who knew him, this personal ritual indicated that he was about to embark on a journey, this journey would be of great importance. Guiding the next generation of Jedi was a serious task, one that he had finally taken upon himself to do once again.
He just sat and waited until his future charge arrived.

Finally! After days, heck, even months of waiting, someone decided to take him under their wing. Little did he know, however, that the one who would be guiding him into a life under the order was a prominent figure in the council. A man with many titles; Jedi Master Soka, a valiant man with such life time experiences that would lap his own dozens of times over. Flap, flap. The pitter-patter of small, dainty feet scurried along semi-rough flooring. Heana, the mix-breed, was overly excited to meet his master face-to-face. The realization of whether or not he'd be accepted as his padawan hasn't yet sunk in. Maybe that's a good thing.
With a sliding and closing of the door, the potential padawan was now facing down Soka, seated and in possible meditation of some sort. Maybe it's some advanced form? Heana pondered this for a brief moment, slightly smiling to himself at the thought of training under this experienced veteran. Snapping back to reality, the half-breed quickly displayed his undoubtful respects to the bald council member. With an outward stretch of his right arm, a slow bring in of the sleek, slender red arm commenced in tow of a courteous bow. Glorious yellow eyes locked once the supple frame took it's natural form.
"Master Soka. It's an honor being in your presence." Smooth and delicate, his voice was like a sweet sirens song. This tone was not exclusive to just his superiors, it was a universal to all his fellow followers of the Jedi. Cascading ever so closely, Heana firmly sat just three feet from Soka, legs crossed and arms gently resting on his thighs. There was a multitude of things he wanted to ask but for now it would be in his best interests to remain silent and await his lead.

The Jedi Master had long sensed the approach of the boy he summoned yet did not move. He meditated as the code commanded, to ensure the purity of his mind and body. He enjoyed the sound of flowing water, it soothed him and helped him focus on what was at hand. For several moments Soka sat still and simply listened. Apparently his young charge sat down and did the same but his mind felt cluttered and filled. He could tell the boy was very curious and had many questions, but not good while meditating. Still sitting on his knees in the fashion of his people, eyes closed, and hands laid gently on his knees he said the the young boy, "Calm your mind. Listen and concentrate, do not think."
He maintained his position for several more moments allowing for what he had said to be absorbed. Finally he would begin his probing of the boy, testing his knowledge, and his attitude to see if Soka felt he could take on this boy as his padawan. "What is a Jedi? What is our goal?" He said calmly turning his head slightly to the boy and opening his eyes.
These were basic questions vital to understanding the very need of Jedi, and surely a youngling must have learned these basic principles by now. He needed to know what he had to work with.
(Sorry to cut the end short, tis getting late and my work isn't going to do itself.

Heana sat and waited. The overwhelming sense of excitement and curiosity was almost too much to sustain. He found himself twiddling his thumbs around like a junkie in need of another fix. A cluttered mind indeed, several dozens of questions floating about, re-lapsing over one another in multiple succession. It would give your in-experienced mind reader a headache or two. Moments more of silences proceeded until Soka finally spoke up. To the young boys shock, his mind was "breached" and felt. Though it wasn't too surprising to him, just amazed him even more.
The flourish of enigmatic youth. "R-Right, Master." Taking in a deep breath, he exhaled, attempting to cleanse his mind of all interferences. The scramble of words quickly dissipated and reformed as new questions emerged. A flair of the brow and scrunching of the face proved the struggle for this novice. Fsssst. Static. His face eased, body relaxed. Now that his mind was as clear as it could be, he was struck with a question, albeit generally simple on the surface. "A Jedi is a pillar of justice; nothing more, nothing less. Our goal is to ensure peace among civilization. We are that pillar that helps civilization hold up against the coming tide."
It was with those answers that he realized what Jedi are in the universe. With a quick breath, a smile crept along his face. A sense of pride befalling him; his eyes cheerfully glazing over Soka.

Soka nodded at the well rehearsed answer. The boy had paid attention to some of the more important facts, which he was happy about, but grew disappointed when he could see the pride in the boy. Pride is one emotion difficult to defeat, but he had to start somewhere. "You have answered well, but do not take pride in your accuracy, only take comfort in your knowledge, never pride yourself in it."
Soka usually said little, but he knew with a padawan he would have to say much more than usual but would only say what was immediately necessary. He could have gone into a long lecture on the vices of Pride but now was not the time. That was the first thing he metaphorically "wrote" in his mind about the boy. He would continue his questioning further.
"What is the Force, how can it be used properly, and why do we heed it?" Another very basic, fundamental question for Jedi, yet extremely vital. Ignorance of the Force and its will leads to misuse and the Dark Side.

Heana hung his head in dismay. As much as he wanted to impress Soka, he still seemed to have exposed his proverbial emotions. His fingers grazed into a slight curl as if he were to soon ball his fists and beat into the ground. But that weren't the case. This calling out on his flaws only motivated him to be better. "I'm sorry, Master. I will do better next time." Said the boy in a defeated tone.
A sway moment was open to dabble in his mistakes until another question was hurled at him. This time it was about The Force. Raising his head to meet Soka's he paused, seemingly lost in this question. "The.. Force? A dangerous yet vital tool, is it not, Master? We are Jedi, how can't we use it properly? We heed it because it's primary purpose is to keep that pillar of justice standing firm.[/i]

Soka was slightly shocked at the answer but did not externalize his feeling except with an inquisitively raised eyebrow. Calling the force a tool was one thing that every Jedi has been instructed not to do. The boy lacked knowledge of the force, but he supposed with time his charge would come to understand these things, but for now he had to curb this dangerous thinking. Darksiders were the only ones to refer to the force as a "Tool". With a sigh, he began to correct the boy, "The Force is no 'tool'. Tools are things you use to complete everyday tasks. Never use the force as a tool, nor for personal gain. The Force is a living entity, ebbing and flowing, much like the water behind us. It has a current, its will, we as Jedi must ensure that we are flowing with the current, that is, following the will of the Force. The Force is unobjective in its dealings, just as we seek to be. Jedi seek to detach themselves and see the world as the Force does. Order and Civilization are our goals."
He stopped himself there, he almost said the hotly contested phrase, "Jedi are not moral creatures" but he did not believe the boy ready to handle a phrase like that.

Heana shook his head repetitively in disagreement. An outlash? Not quite. The Force in the boys perspective was just a means to an end. Sure, he hasn't learned the full ways of the Jedi, but he wasn't the extreme novice of both side of the coin. He knew very well what lies down the shadowy path and even though his actions may dictate it, his desire was not to stray the way to the darkness. Strongly optioned this boy is. But for him to truly understand, he must toss aside his need to debate and flow with the current, as the jist of Soka's words.
His hands, tightly as they were in this semi-heated moment, loosened. His posture morphing down into a respective bow, he freed his mind and body. A genuine offering to Soka. "Please. Teach me the ways of the Jedi." A straight forward statement. It wasn't of fear to fall into the darkness, more so to seek a guiding light through it. There wasn't more the boy could say at this point. His future laid up for grasp; question is, would Soka grab hold?

Soka could feel and see the stubbornness in the boy, perhaps training him would be a mistake. If one refused to learn, how could he teach? This would be the hardest thing. In this short conversation he had picked up pride, stubbornness, ignorance, and defeatism. However, this was how all Jedi began, thus the reason they needed a willing master to guide them. The boy reminded him of himself somewhat when he was younger - a proud kid with a fighting spirit who did not take being wrong but sought to learn from it. He had but one final question before he had his decision to train the boy, a correct answer would lead to his training.
"Heana, as one can take a Suubutar to water, one cannot make him drink. I can teach you, but you must be willing to listen and heed what I have to say. Are you willing to listen?" a simple question, but for one with a prideful and stubborn person, they must admit to themselves that they are subordinate and must learn. In time, he and Soka would be equals where they may disagree and debate, not now though. For now, he had to be willing to listen.

He grumbled, groaned, a flustered expression on his face was evident but since he was still in the formal posture. A hard to see expression but not to feel. "I.. I.. Nnnahh- -" Taking a deep breath he slowly exhaled, removing himself from his position on the ground to fully stand. He showed Soka his displeased look, albeit it flickering about with inner conflictions. "Hehe.. Oh boy. It's not such an easy task, but don't give up on me. I'm willing, no, I will give my all! I have to toss away my prideful incantations, my childish attitude. But I can't do this alone, Master. I want to listen!"
A task to overcome, these emotions. He is trying his best to impress Soka, however not under the ruse of simply his teachings. "I hope to transform into one of many pillars of justice in this universe, to aid the Order and those in dire need. To one day become a beacon of light and guide many others like myself to the righteous path. So please don't turn me away!" Exclaimed Heana, his heart bleeding out his true feelings and intentions.

Soka nodded and contemplated the idea. He would have much work to do with this one, but he was sure he could turn this boy into a fine jedi. With a sigh and a smack of his teeth, Soka stood and walked toward the glass overlooking the city. He held his hands together behind his back and stood silent for many moments, always in deep thought. Still looking to the buzz of activity below he pronounced, "Yes, I will train you. As long as you will listen, I will train you. Now go, ready your self to leave. We begin immediately."
Soka was going through the things in his head that he would teach the boy. He decided the first thing to do would be to train him to not feel the force as a tool or weapon, force him to do things without the force, for those skills are necessary for a strong Jedi.
(Meh short, but we need to get this going)
