Description/role:
Fast, agile, and easy to produce, the Gizka-Class Interceptor is named as such due to its mass production scale and the ability to constantly churn out more of these fighters quickly and efficiently. A carrier can fit thousands of these small ships inside their hangar bays. The fighter is armed with two blaster cannons and two laser cannons, one of each on the port/starboard wings, with a center light dual laser cannon emplacement on the center nosecone. Rugged and dependable, the Gizka-Class is heavily short range and is very much carrier/ground-based. It has no hyperspace capability nor much cargo capacity, has no specialized options and relies on motherships for docking and regular refueling. However, the design is still modular enough to be modified for use with a hyper-drive ring or other additions.
The fighter is one of Anduran Armalite's most prolific and successful designs, maintaining practicality while still being aesthetically pleasing. It has slowly becoming one of the most if not the most standardized interceptor-class fighter in the Republic Navy, and is also heavily popular with mercenaries and PMCs as are all AA products. The Gizka-Class is unsurprisingly a favorite of planetary defense forces, and knock-off designs of the popular interceptor are not uncommon amongst non-AA customers. Of course, all the companies in known space who copy the specific design tend to get sued or merged in a hostile take-over. Common modifications include removing the nosecone dual blaster cannons and installing a single-shot concussion missile launcher. Gladly, the fighter already has an integrated droid brain.
