Name: HK-52
Race: Droid
Age: 13
Height: 2 meters even
Weight: 357lbs
Appearance:
Shown here with the Disruptor Rifle, and without the wrist-blaster. His appearance decieves most into believing he is more fragile than previous models, though in fact he is equally, if not more, hardy, as his frame-work and plating are made of the same amount of metal, only more compacted; the lower-back area also seems particularly vulnerable, though in fact there is very little vital systems there, the only thing being the frame's spine, which is nearly three inches of solid durasteel between each joint.
Birth place: Nar Shaddaa
Profession: Assassin/Mercenary/Bounty Hunter
Bio:
It is unknown exactly where the first of the HK series originated, or even if the infamous model 47 was the first functional model. What is known, however, is that there is very little legality to the series by the time it hit 47. HK-47 was an unrivaled assassination droid, as well as a fully-functional protocol droid, from whose schematics the mass-produced HK-50 series was created. The HK-50s were, while not as deadly as their previous model, they were still very effective in both combat and as protocol droids, though they were soon replaced by the upgraded HK-51s, who matched them nearly in everything, save that they were more effective, and had blue photoreceptors. What happened to the HK line after this is not common knowledge. It is unknown if any more models of higher indeger were produced; or at least, until now.
Few, if any other than himself, know how the Exchange crimelord governing the Exchange in the Red Sector came about the HK series schematics, whether from actual design schematics, or an actual HK unit, or even what model the schematics were of, though it is likely they were of a model previous to 47 from the droids appearance, but, what is important is that the Zeltron Norrik did. Having personal ties with the Czerka Corp. offices on Nar Shaddaa, and access to considerable funds, he requisitioned a model, called the HK-52, as there were no known models with indegers higher than 51. He also had considerable enhancements given to the droid's capabilities, including an enhanced skill-set, a less bulky, more maneuverable, though equally hardy, frame and armoring, and a change in protocols; he made HK-52 a great deal more independant than previous models, and not subserviant to "masters", though it was given strict parameters regarding the Zeltron himself, and kept the 47 personality, as it amused Norrik. This design, however, proved to be a rather lethal mistake, as, during the course of his usage of the droid, he made the mistake of tasking HK with, what was as the droid deemed, a suicidal task. HK's protocols, stating that self-termination was impossible, and from his independant programming, personally overrid his parameters and shot Norrik. Repeatedly. Norrik's body was only identified by his underlings because pink flesh could still be seen in places.
When the guards turned to the droid, thinking that his protocols made it impossible for him to have done it, they asked him what had happened. "Answer: The organic formerly known as Norrik made the unfortunate error of attempting to terminate this unit, and I was forced to fire indiscriminantly at him to ensure survival, as dictated by my survival protocols." He answered in complete truth, ending the lives of the briefly stunned guards in a quick, efficient manor, before escaping on Norrik's personal speeder, and turning Norrik's office into a giant hole in the building it was located in. It was assumed that the droid was destroyed in the blast after Norrik was killed by a rival, or someone with a vendetta. Those that knew of the droids existance were either killed, or, in the case of the few from Czerka, payed by the droid himself for upgrades HK thought suitable for his functionality, as well as payed for a supply of items and weaponry, as well as facilitating a few repairs now and then, all in the highest secrecy. Shortly afterwards, the HK unit erased all evidence of his existance, both electronic and physical, from Czerka, and became fully autonomous.
He has since worked on various high and low profile targets for various contractors, rarely leaving witnesses to his existance as an assassin, save the contractors themselves to ensure the possibility of future contracts. He has also worked, on occaision, on simple bounties, sometimes even for governments, other times for criminal societies; he has also now and then worked as a simple gun for hire, as long as the pay was acceptable. These two forms of employment, coupled with the lack sentients that know of him as an assassin, mean that he is recorded mostly as a bounty hunter or mercenary, except for those select few who have employed him as an assassin, and even many of those never make direct contact with him, and usually know him as a Barabel by the nickname "Shadow".
Skills: HK is an extremely proficient aim, almost to the point of frighteningly so, well surpassing most organics, and prefers to kill his targets at extreme distances, though he has absolutely nothing against closing the distance, and is also very skilled at urban combat, though he very nearly disdains bladed weapons, and has only moderate skill with his hands; however, he is stronger than humans of equal size, and none the less deadly at close ranges. He is also very proficient at mechanical repair and security, as well as having advanced piloting sub-routines, the ability able to understand a wide variety of sentient and non-sentient languages, as well as having advanced sensors, including a wide spectrum of vision modes and detection programs.
