It was warm inside the temple, a feeling that Alycia Zel found comforting, especially seeing as the evening outside was getting cooler and cooler. Her face was expressionless as she watched the rest of Coruscant out the window. It had been so long since she had been out of the Temple, and she yearned to be out there, wandering the streets and having fun. She wanted action. She wanted to learn. She would even take a simple, mundane task that she could do with her eyes closed if it meant getting out of the Temple.
The simple reality, however, was that the Council thought it best to keep her close for a time after the death of her first master. She had felt trapped within the walls since then. However, she knew things were going to change. The Council told her she would be receiving a new master soon.
She had waited patiently for the day to come, and eventually when she was told that she would be meeting her new master, she felt like she had just taken a hard shot of adrenaline, but at the same time she felt sorrow, as if she was betraying Sean. He had been her master. She only hoped that her new master would be like him.
She wandered along the hallway, pulling her cloak tighter around her form and pushing her hands inside the opposite sleeves, keeping them warm. She had been told where to meet the knight from whom she would learn from now on, she just had to make her way there.
She walked slowly, passing many different things that she had never noticed before. She never realised the look of sheer concentration, determinaton, and absolute bliss that was on a youngling's face before as they worked at learning the force. She remembered her first time, the feeling of a constant warm wave passing through her body. She smiled, knowing that soon those younglings would feel it too.
Eventually, however, she came to the entrance hall of the Jedi Temple. Her emotions changed. She felt nauseated. Her stomach dropped. Fear. It wasn't a feeling she felt often, but one she knew. What was her new master going to be like? Are they nice? Mean? Angry? Her emotions started playing havoc with her, and soon she found herself hidden away to a corner, near a waste system, the contents of her stomach coming up suddenly.
She sighed for a moment, before straightening. "What a way to get ready for a new master." She said to herself, hanging her head in disgust for herself.

(Sorry it's so short)
Tem strode briskly through the halls of the Jedi Temple on his way to the entrance from the council chambers. He had a lot on his mind, the council had just informed him that we would be taking on an apprentice, which was news to Tem. He didn’t know much about this padawan except her name, Alycia Zel, and that her former master had recently died while on a mission. He could identify with that, as his first master had died while he was apprenticing under him. It was a difficult time to say the least and he was sure it was the same for young Alycia. As he got closer he began to feel a little anxious. He had never trained a padawan before, he had barely taught anyone anything, but here he was about to tell this padawan that he was to be her new master. This was going to be a daunting task for sure.
When he arrived at the gate he saw some knights and guards meandering around. He also saw a padawan slumped over a waste receptacle. He walked over and looked at her sideways. “Alycia Zel?” he asked, “Not the most auspicious way to begin the day.” He chuckled.

She looked up upon hearing the voice. Her eyes traced over her new master, taking in his form. Dark robes. Dark goggles covering his eyes. Pale skin. She almost smirked at the thought of him getting sunburnt, but managed to hold it back. Her eyes traced over the bright red hair, before once again returning to the goggles. They interested her. She wondered what they hid. Was he a Miraluka and had no eyes, just empty sockets? Or was he human, and just liked to wear them? Then it clicked. Could he be a half breed.
She blushed when she took in his words. So he had noticed the physical upheaval of her emotions. She looked down for a moment, getting control of her embarrassment before saying, "Sorry, I sometimes feel the need to when I get really nervous." She stopped for a moment, realising that she now probably looked pathetic. She stammered nervously before saying, "But I don't get this nervous usually. Only before I meet really important people. Or before tests. But never before missions. I get really energetic and eager and I get an adrenaline rush and...... Sorry. I'm rambling." She looked down once more when she finished. She was making a mess of it and she knew it.

Tem looked at her inquisitively, sizing her up "Sorry, I sometimes feel the need to when I get really nervous." She was a Hapan, he had heard of them, but they were seldom seen outside of the Hapes Consortium. They were known for there beauty, but Tem was more concerned with her strength and endurance then her outward apperence. "But I don't get this nervous usually. Only before I meet really important people. Or before tests. But never before missions. I get really energetic and eager and I get an adrenaline rush and...... Sorry. I'm rambling." Tem Smiled at her, “Don’t worry about it, we all ramble from time to time.” Tem said in a warm tone. To be honest, Tem was nervous too, he had never had a padawan before so this was all new to him. “I’m Tem Farelle, by the way, and you’re my new apprentice.”[/color] He said, opening his hand and offering it to her. He looked down at her through his goggles and smiled hoping to put her at ease.
“Well Alycia, follow me, we have a schedule to keep.” He said, walking back toward the Temple. He made for the training chamber, now that they had met, it was time Tem found out how much she had learned from her former master. Once they arrived at his destination, he opened the door and motioned for her to enter. He then walked into the training chamber and removed his cloak. He picked up a training saber and threw one to Alycia, then he activated it and took a basic Shii-Cho stance. “Attack me.” Tem said suddenly, waiting for her to move.

She followed him obediently, weaving their way through the people walking through the corridors. She had a fair suspicion as to where they were going, one which was only fortified by their turn towards the training quarters. So Tem was going to test her abilities? This should be interesting. She smiled as they walked into the training chambers.
When the sabre was thrown, she watched the hilt fly, as if it was in slow motion, before raising her hand. The hilt flicked out of it's trajectory, landing neatly into her right hand. She spun the hilt around her hand twice, lighting it on the second spin. It wasn't her sabre. It felt thick and chunky in her hand. Clumsy almost. She sighed, but knew it would have to do. She let her eyes scan over Tem once.
His hilt was held high, and he was quite a bit taller than she was. There was her plan. She smirked, before stepping in to attack, her sabre sweeping in fast and in an upward sweep to Tem's knee. She knew that she had no chance against him if she went head on. She had to fight smart.

(Sorry it's been so long and the post is so short)
There was no words exchanged after his instruction to attack. Nothing was heard except the quiet sound of Tem's goggles focusing. He flexed his wrist and relaxed, this would be interesting, Tem would need to play close attention if he was to learn what he needed to know. He needed to find out what she knew, where her weaknesses were, and most of all, what he would have to show her.
He closed his eyes behind the goggles, breathing deeply as the force rushed around him. He could sense the area around him. He could sense the younglings practicing in the next room but he focused his senses on the girl that stood in front of him. Tem could feel her movements before she made them. She swept her saber down toward his legs, 'Clever girl' Tem thought to himself. He pushed off with both feet, calling on the force to aid his strength and speed. He twisted in the air lengthwise and landed facing her. A smile crossed his face as he brought his saber back upright across his body, ready for her to attack again.

Frustration bubbled slightly inside her as she watched Tem's legs move away from the path of her sabre. A block, or a counter attack would have satisfied her, but movement frustrated her immensely. It showed that she wasn't doing something right. She had a theory that if she was in the fight, she would force a block, but movement showed that she was not making her opponent commit.
She heard the knight's feet land, and she immediately stepped into motion, continuing her spinning action, aiming at the knees again, but this time her sabre swept upwards. She knew that this time if he wanted to avoid the attack, he couldn't jump. He'd need to act on her intent to stop him. She hoped that it would be enough to keep him close.

(Sorry it's so bad, and so short, but it's late and I wanted to get it out.)
The swipe was aimed at Tem's midsection, he would have to use his saber to stop this attack. Tem brought his saber back toward his body to protect it from the strike. He then pushed it out at her saber in a striking block. Tem put a bit of strength behind the moving block; enough, he felt, that it would force her saber away from her body, leaving it open for attack if executed properly.
He then pointed his saber straight at Alycia, challenging her to give him her best. He needed to see what she was capable of if he was to teach her. This would allow him to learn more then any conversation ever would.

Alycia suddenly felt herself locking in her right knee. She knew that if she hadn't locked her leg, with the force of Tem's block he would have knocked her over. She blushed for a moment at the thought of her own weakness, before she took a deep breath, ready to make the next move. So he was going to defend? Excellent, then she would attack.
She watched as she pointed her sabre. She knew her advantages - her speed, agility and size. She had to use unconventional methods. She started moving quickly, taking two steps to Tem's right, before suddenly changing direction to aim at his left. She jumped, and it felt like she was hanging in the air. She rammed the tip of her sabre downwards, towards the gap between Tem's collar bone and shoulderblade. It was something she'd seen the experienced Guardians do in training.

Alycia jumped through the air and aimed a strike at Tem's shoulder. Tem reacted as quickly as possible, turning to his left but leaning back towards his right while bringing his saber point first across his body, it was slow and awkward but it would have to work. He aggressively made contact with her saber and pushed it off course toward the ground.
'She's good' Tem thought to himself, silently forming several ideas in his head about training. He drew his left leg backwards sweeping it around to face Alycia. He then spun his saber in his hand while bringing his other hand up toward the saber hilt to grab it. With all his power he pushed it quickly in a lunge at Alycia. He would see if she could hold her own on the defensive.

Her weight instantly shifted to her back foot and her eyes went wide. She watched as the sabre came straight at her. For once, she allowed her instincts to take over - not something she usually did. Her left food stepped to her left, dragging her body to the side. She flicked her sabre in a spiral motion, knocking the sabre away from her body. As it went past, she felt the heat of the blade pass close to her side. She had only just made it out of the way in time.
She followed through on her blade movement, aiming her sabre upwards, towards Tem's exposed ribs, hoping to get the fight back on her terms.

Tem could see her saber as it pointed at his rib, he didn't have time to think so his body did what came natural, jump. His legs used the force to add strength and he barely evaded the attack as he flew backward. He then sprinted toward her with his saber held high again but just before he reached her, he swung his saber in a half circle aiming a slash at her midsection. He kept the saber closer to his body however to protect himself from a counter attack.
Tem was beginning to see potential in both her lightsaber technique and her strategical thinking. She was showing great tenacity and pose for one so young. Later he would probably see a little of himself in her, but for now he was focusing on his opponent, not his student.

The frustration welled up again inside her as she watched Tem's feet fly over the top of her blade. She allowed herself to make a small sound, a snarl of anger. Her anger was short lived however, because as quickly as Tem had jumped to evade her on sabre, he was rushing back at her, his sabre rushing towards her body with an ominous humm.
She dropped quickly, as low as she could go. Once again she spun, this time counter-clockwise, bringing her sabre backwards towards the back of Tem's knees.

Tem's saber swept through Alycia's body, or at least where it was before she dropped. His brow furrowed, she was very fast but Tem had a plan to finish this fight. He silently cursed his goggles as they didn't offer the best line of sight as she fell toward the ground. Tem reached out again with the force as she spun around, swinging her saber at the back of Tem's knees. Tem brought his saber across his body and pushed his full strength against Alycia's lightsaber to make contact with another striking block.
Tem then spun his saber in his hand, stopping it just as the tip of his blade was pointing at Alycia. He then pushed with his back foot and made another lunge at the padawan. It was a quick lunge, lacking the force or strength of his previous lunges, but that had a purpose.

She couldn't react in time to show frustration. Her eyes went wide as soon as she saw the sabre hurtling towards her. She knew she had one choice. Change the direction of her momentum and hope. She dug in her feet and tried to turn, twisting away from the training blade coming towards her. This time, however, her efforts weren't enough, and she felt the sting of her blade hit her in the shoulder.
She fell, sprawling onto the ground, dropping her hilt as she did so. She blushed red as she sat, spread across the floor and rubbing her shoulder where the training sabre had hit. She looked up at Tem, still fiery, but her aggression soon subsided as she reminded herself it was just practice. Just a game. "So, how did I do?" She asked quietly.

Tem tried not to follow through his strike but didn't completely stop himself before pushing her off her feet and sent her sprawled out on the floor, dropping her saber as she did. Tem deactivated his saber as he walked over to Alycia "So, how did I do?" she asked, Tem smiled and extended his hand to her. "Very well, young one." Tem said in an assuring tone. "Better get some ice on that arm" he added, lifting her up to her feet. He pulled her fallen saber to him as he walked past it toward the wall where other training sabers hung. After placing both sabers back where he got them.
Tem looked back at her as he put his long cloak back on, "Well Miss Zel, do you have any questions for me?" he asked as he walked back toward her. It was only fair that she get to test him now that he had tested her.

Alycia gripped his hand tightly, probably a little bit aggressively, but she could still feel the adrenaline in her system. She quickly allowed herself to calm though. She looked up at Tem, looking into his dark goggles. As he put the sabres away, Alycia grabbed an instant ice pack, breaking it and holding it to her shoulder.
"I moved so quickly, and I knew I was out of your line of sight. How do you see like that?" She paused for a moment before asking quietly, "Can you teach me to see like that?"

Tem smiled when she asked about his ability to see, it was....complicated to explain, but he would have to get better at answering difficult questions if he was to teach her anything. "Well...." He said thinking. "I used the force to see." he said finally, "You see, I'm half Miralukan, and they normally don't have eyes. So they learned to see through the force." 'She probably already knows that' Tem said to himself. "I may have eyes, but they aren't exactly perfect" he said pointing to his goggles, "So when I have to, I rely on the force to see..." He said, then looked down at her, "And yes, I can teach you to see through the force."
Tem motioned for Alycia to follow him as he walked toward the exit of the training chamber. As they walked down the halls, Tem spoke up. "What do you know of the force?" Tem asked, it was a very open question, but he had to hear what she thought it would mean.

"What do you know of the force?" He thought for a moment, trying to think about how best to answer this question. Was there a right or wrong answer? She paused, looking up at him before saying, "The force..... The force is everything, but at the same time it is nothing. We manipulate it to aid our lives, yet it controls our lives by allowing us to manipulate it. Basically, the force is what rules life and the galaxy. It has no master, just people it chooses to help. This is why only certain people are fortunate enough to possess enough midichlorians to manipulate it."
She smirked to herself as she looked up at Tem's face. She knew her answer was neither here nor there, but she hoped it brought across her understanding of that which they held most dear to them.

(Super busy so I couldn't get a better post in, but it's adequate for the progression)
Tem smiled at her response, it sounded like what he expected, she was unsure about the force but was beginning to understand. Tem then spoke up, "Very good assessment young one, the force is energy, it is life, it is everything, it is both there and not there, but for those with the correct discipline it is tangible and present." He paused for a moment before continuing. "And what do you think of the Code? What is it's purpose? What does it mean?" He asked another open ended question, there were many possible answers and as such there was much to be learned by her response.
They arrived at the Room of a Thousand Fountains just as he finished talking and he waited for her answer before walking through the doorway.
