The outer Temple courtyard was mostly abandoned, which made sense because it was raining hard. She supposed she should have been inside doing something else but she just didn't feel like it.
The rain was beautiful in a subtle way. To her the music was soft and the melody calming when the rain came. It allowed her to think, and to reflect.
Even so it probably wasn't the smartest thing to just be laying on a bench just outside the rains reach where she could be potentially soaked.
But she needed the clearness of head to think. She'd been thinking of taking on a padawan, she'd been a Knight for four years and she'd learned a lot but now it was coming upon the time to take a padawan.
However the only problem was that if she took a padawan then her interactions with Serena would be severely limited. She'd have to take the padawan with her wherever she went and the risk of being revealed was too great even though it was entirely possible that her padawan would not report her but instead take after her.
Though that was arguably even worse. She didn't want to influence a young padawan to follow in her disobedience of the council.
Either way this required some thought.

Sherasti Rin stood in the center of the courtyard, feeling the raindrops landing on her and soaking through her robes. The dampness on her skin was soothing, and the sound of falling rain was profoundly relaxing. The bustle of Coruscant all seemed far away.
It was the perfect setting for her recovery. Just a week ago she'd been on the verge of death on an unnamed planet in remote space. Lying on the ground, passed out in an expanding pool of her own blood. Her Padawan had saved her life.
It still bothered her that she'd been so helpless, and that due to her own clumsiness she'd almost died. Her own death wasn't what she was worried about. It was the ramifications. Xell needed guidance, and she was the one best-suited to provide it. He understood that too. And understood she needed some time to herself.
Her recovery was going well. The Togruta body was quite well-suited to fast healing. She was still wary of re-opening the wound in her side, but common and relaxed movements wouldn't hurt her, in fact thanks to the wonders of medicine there wouldn't even be a scar. Most of her recuperating would be mental.
And nothing was better for her mind than the soft sensation of raindrops on her red skin.
Her acute spatial senses detected another person nearby just as easily as her Force abilities did. She turned her head to look at the person, a red-haired human woman roughly her same age.
Slowly she walked through the pools of water forming on the ground and stopped before the bench. "May I join you?" Sherasti asked.

She opened her eyes, looked up and finally noticed Sherasti. She had been so absorbed in her thoughts that she hadn't sensed her coming.
"Oh, yes please do." She replied almost automatically as she sat up and made room for the Togruta Knight.
She hadn't expected to have company but she wouldn't deny it.

The raindrops slid down Sherasti's face, making her look rather like a rose covered in dew. For a moment she was silent next to the human woman, enjoying the sound of rain and dripping onto the bench.
She appraised the human next to her. She was tall. Quite tall in fact, though the added height of Sherasti's montrals loomed over her. But they were literally eye to eye. And there was something in those eyes that asked for attention, some sort of angst.
The Togruta Jedi spoke up again, sensing as well as seeing that something was troubling the other woman.
"Is something troubling you, sister?" Sherasti asked, her head tilted at a slight angle, a gesture matching the interrogative statement.
The Togruta lapsed into silence as she awaited a response, the very picture of serenity.

She shrugged, rolling her shoulders, stretching the joints. She must have been laying there for a while, a testament to how much this was actually troubling her.
She would like to confide in a fellow Knight and ask for advice, but she really couldn't ask how to balance her girlfriend and her desire for a padawan. That would be a stupid move.
But maybe she could just leave that part out and be safe.
"I suppose you could say that. I'm trying to decide if I should take a padawan or not."

Sherasti nodded understandingly. She'd been spared the choice by fortune, assigning her Xell Rayner as her Padawan. Already he'd managed to learn much, and save her life. She was quite pleased with the way it had turned out.
"You must have faith in the Force. Once you meditate, everything will become clear."
The Togruta reflected on the experience so far, wondering how to describe it. It was surreal. Certainly it hadn't been easy. She could still remember all his slip-ups and gaffes around her during those first days of awkwardness, before he learned to temper his physical attractions. And Sherasti had learned to be patient with him.
"If you feel called to take a Padawan, it can be a very rewarding time for you. You'll never stop learning."

Sola could have predicted a response like that, trust the Force and it'll tell you what to do. That was nice and good and she did trust the Force.
But she wanted to know more than that, she was trying to find out if she could do it. Did she have the skill and wisdom to teach a student.
She was an impulsive Jedi whose only real talents were her Jar'kai, and the few force techniques she was good at.
"I suppose, but I wonder if I'm ready to teach a padawan."

"Every Jedi since the first days of the Order has felt the same way. We all question ourselves. I wondered how I could be so young and still be a guide to my Padawan. Then I realized, I only had to live my own life properly first. The Force would guide me to the rest, I simply had to do what was right and show him what was right."
Sherasti smiled warmly, hoping to encourage the other Knight. Belatedly she realized she hadn't introduced herself. "My name is Sherasti Rin, I've never had the pleasure to meet you before." The Togruta bowed slightly, dipping her montrals in a polite sign of respect.
Once more she summed up the Knight before her. Older than her by a few years, maybe that had something to do with her unfamiliarity. Or perhaps she'd been trained at one of the enclaves and not on Coruscant. But then again, it was a big Temple. Sherasti certainly didn't know everyone in it.
Luckily, she enjoyed meeting new people. Well, most of the time. In the peace of the pouring rain almost anything would be acceptable to her. She was extremely relaxed.

Sherasti Rin? She was sure she might have heard that name at some point during her long years at the Temple but she was not familiar with it. Anyways, that was a good point, but she wasn't strictly following the Jedi code. She had a relationship, and she had a few possessions she'd kept on Serena's ship even though she wasn't supposed to own anything beyond her lightsabers and robes.
A padawan would most certainly discover her relationship, did she want to lead another Jedi down that path? If her padawan was discovered and cast out of the Order then it would be her fault. It was a difficult decision to think about. But she had forgotten to introduce herself.
"Ah, my apologies. My name is Sola Fess."

"A pleasure to meet you Sola." The Togruta's lilting voice managed to sound incredibly soothing, she was channeling her own serenity through her tone more than her words. And as was typical for her, some low level of telepathy projected her sense around her. It would probably help ease the other Jedi's angst.
If she was willing to accept it. Even the most primitive telepathic skills included the barriers needed to block it. If Sola was determined to be tense, then Sherasti's personality and 'aura' wouldn't be able to change it.
The Jedi Consular sat in silence again, having difficulty finding anything else to say. But maybe it was enough for Sola to have someone friendly sitting next to her.
Sherasti stared up at the clouds, smiling at the texture of them. Slate gray, but soft. She enjoyed weather on Coruscant. It was so rare that when it came it was welcome, it helped her feel connected to nature again. And in her convalescence that was exactly what she needed.

It was kind of awkward, there wasn't much more for them to say to each other. And really they didn't know each other well enough for Sola to trust her with some of her more personal fears and problems.
She wished Rane was here, she could go to him for help but most likely he'd just tell her it was something that she had to figure out for herself and he couldn't help in this matter.
What would she teach a padawan? She was just an average Jedi, nothing special at all.
"So, what's your padawan like?" she asked, anything to break the silence.

"Well," Sherasti explored her mind to find the right words, "Xell is a brave and considerate young man. He is very loyal and very devoted. To the Order and to me. He can be a little carried away at times, but I wouldn't trade him for any other Padawan."
The Togruta chuckled, thinking back to what seemed like a lifetime of memories though it hadn't even been a full two months since they first met. His first awkward stares, then the control of his emotions he showed close by her side. Lastly his absolutely hysterical conviction that she wanted to eat him.
"To be honest, I don't see how I managed life without him. He livens up my existence. He doesn't always see thing clearly, but I can tell he has a good heart. He will become a great Jedi, I'm certain of it. I just have to help him find that person in himself."
Sherasti smiled at Sola again. "You might find you learn as much from your Padawan as he does from you. Your role as student never ends, there are always new lessons waiting to be learned. And a different perspective by your side brings them to life in a new and interesting way."
The Togruta Jedi Knight straightened her posture a little and felt the tension in her side ease. Perfect poise took tension off the wound. Her hand reached down and pressed against it, tracing where the jagged piece of metal had cut into her flesh. Only the slightest line could be felt as her fingers brushed her skin underneath her robe. Like they'd promised, no scars.
"My Padawan saved my life recently. Sometimes you realize that you need someone there for you."

Small footsteps on the floor echoed through the otherwise silent hallway as Taeyeon made her way toward the Temple courtyard. It had been a relatively uneventful day, for the most part, the group instruction for the younglings having just ended. The minor burn on her shoulder was growing less and less irritating as the day proceeded, now nothing but an afterthought to the young Jedi-in-training. Whether it was a lucky strike on his part or a momentary lapse of focus on hers, Taeyeon knew that it didn’t hurt half as bad as the three marks she had left on her sparring partner. But the fact that she was deemed the victor gave little comfort to the child. Had they been using real sabers, she would be missing an arm, or worse.
It wasn’t the first time she had been hit, of course… As young as she was, she was bound to make mistakes. But in her mind, such mistakes were inexcusable. She had come a long way from when she had first held a training saber. To leave herself open like that… For all the talk of now being the best of her clan, the girl refused to let such showings of weakness go without rectification. She needed to improve, and the first step was to meditate on what she could do better. She needed some time alone. Time to think. Time to clear her mind.
Reaching the Temple courtyard, the pouring rain brought forth a mix of relief and annoyance. Relief that she’ll have plenty of space to herself, annoyance that she’d have to deal with the possibility of being drenched. Though now that she thought about it, the fact that it was raining indeed served more as a boon than anything else. Meditating in peace was too easy; perhaps doing the same while dealing with external forces may end up providing a far greater learning experience.
After taking but a few steps toward the courtyard, the young girl noticed that she wasn’t alone after all. A pair of voices emanated gently before the steady backdrop of the rainfall. Turning her gaze toward her left, Taeyeon saw two older women, apparently indulging each other with conversation. Not wanting to be rude, yet curious all the same, Taeyeon simply stood, tilting her head just slightly as she watched the two.

Sherasti's words had been...informative, and enlightening. She tried to imagine the dynamic she and Rane had, and then thought of what she would try to do with her padawan.
She would do what Rane did, and that was push her to her limits, physical training, saber combat and the application of force training combined with physical training. Rane had believed that you could train your body and the Force at the same time, and she had benefited from it.
She'd also try to test her padawan, small things at first, like Rane she would let her padawan test his or her creativity and intuition in dealing with problems.
But mostly she'd try and help her padawan grow into a great Jedi, that would come first and she'd have to work around that image. But that was if she could get a padawan and what that padawan's skills are.
She was almost too distracted to miss the small force presence nearby and she blinked turning as if confused. She looked back towards the Temple, spotting Taeyeon farther away.
A youngling? What was a youngling doing so far away from her clan, usually they were kept close to their clan and not allowed to wander?
"Hello there." she said, standing slowly and walking towards Taeyeon.

Sherasti smiled to the Youngling, trying to be friendly. Only belatedly did she realize her fangs were protruding. She concealed them again and became the picture of serenity.
Certainly she hadn't been surprised. Her montrals were powerful sensory organs that gave her acute spatial awareness and excellent hearing. Paired with her own force senses it was essentially impossible for a new presence to go unnoticed.
She didn't recognize the little human girl, which was hardly surprising. She wasn't very well-acquainted with the Younglings. She already had a Padawan, and she was more of a diplomat and less of a teacher. She left training the future generations of the Order to those gifted in that area.
She raised a rust-colored hand and beckoned the child to come closer.

Taeyeon blinked.
Realizing she had been noticed, the youngling quickly bowed her head, her straight raven hair falling forward and covering her face from view. “F-Forgive me. I did not mean to intrude.” Though curiosity was to be expected of any child her age, Taeyeon always believed herself to be above such crude acts as eavesdropping.
Expecting some form of reprimanding, she slowly raised her head when it did not come. On the contrary, the two older women seemed to be rather welcoming, the human even standing up and moving towards her.
Apprehensively, the girl moved closer to the elder Jedi, feeling her cheeks redden ever so slightly. It was not like her to be shy, but she had always made it a general habit to act with greater caution when away from the clan. Though she usually preferred to continue training solo once classes were over, she was well aware of the rules, and was almost embarrassed to have been caught out on her own. She could only hope that, once her instructors found out about this, the repercussions would be minimal. The last thing she needed right now was a reputation as a troublemaker.
As she got closer to the adults, she couldn’t help but feel so small. Even while sitting down, the Togruta was taller than her. And standing at full height, the human woman positively dwarfed the child. Taeyeon was used to being the shortest one in the room, but this just made her feel positively microscopic.

Sola smiled in what she hoped was a comforting manner, their guest seemed nervous, which was to be expected seeing as how she wasn't supposed to be here alone.
And as she got closer she learned just how short this youngling was, Sola towered over her. So she crouched down, hopefully this brought them closer to normal level.
"What are you doing so far from your clan?" she asked.
