Statistics-Speed: 7 Maneuverability: 7 Effectiveness vs. Star-fighters: 6 Effectiveness vs. Capital Ships: 1 Armor: 4 Shielding: 5 Sensors: 6 Reliability: 5 Description/role: (img. linked to original) The Taung-class patrol craft and prisoner transport ships were aptly named because of their unique shape when seen from the front…the form resembling that of the faces of the extinct race of sentients, right down to the greyish-blue color of the hull. At the time of their creation, the designers of the Taung-class ships thought the name would help strike some chord of fear (or at least respect) in those who heard and saw them. They were wrong. Originally designed to be utilized as patrol craft for the Republic military, or as prisoner transports for their bases and prisons, the deal fell through mainly because of anti-mandalorian sentiments which were still widely spread. A smattering of these ships made it into the roles they were destined for on planets such as Concord Dawn and Ordo (planets with high Mando populations, but ones that were still under the controlling thumb of the Republic at the time) in hopes that the name would have some meaning there. The Givin designers refused to allow their creations to simply go to waste, however, recalling and refitting the series with magnetic grapples, active sensor masks, and sensor jammers to sweeten the deal. Now the Taung-class could not only effectively act as a prison transport ship and a patrol craft, but also as a make-shift troop drop ship or cargo ship! All the Republic had to do was stuff their soldiers or gear into metal boxes, use the mag-grapples and away they could go, how could they possibly say no? Well, some were used…another handful or so more than the original release of the line, but the line was still painfully unaccepted by Republic military contractors. In a last ditch attempt to sell what they had left of the line (they certainly weren’t going to make more of them), the Givin offered the surplus ships to just about anyone who had the money. Needless to say, the Taung-class earned quite a bit of attention from the fringe of society, but calls for more to be made fell on deaf…well, Givin don’t have visible ears, but if they’d had them those pleas would have fallen on deaf ones. They simply weren’t in the business of selling to outlaws, after all, not if they wanted to possibly redeem their standing with the Republic. Those who got their hands on the ships often noted that the Givin lived up to expectations in ship design as far as performance, the ship had its quirks that made it difficult to deal with at points. The most obvious quirk was its unique form. The frontal ‘face’ of the ship being taller than the majority of it provided difficulties for some in maneuvering or docking the ship, not to mention getting cargo in or out of the rear-ward facing landing ramp and the adjoining set of stairs that led into the main hull. Another quirk were the wing-tip landing struts. While more often than not, they worked perfectly fine…there were more than a few reports of them sticking badly enough that the wings themselves might scrape or touch the ground…on rare occasions a pilot might even land without the strut coming out at all and the ship would be resting on the wing! The third quirk was the navigator’s position in the cockpit. While not proving to be any real detriment, some races (or even some people) found it difficult to fit into the compact space…tall was fine, but wide…not so much, and force forbid you were in a hurry to get there, or you might get tangled in the restrains as you’re trying to get into the niche. In fact, it seemed that a decent number of the complaints and quirks people found about the ship had to do with its shape and rather tight (in places) space…and the stairs. Other than those, however, many who have come across the increasingly rare ships have found them to be agile, dangerous foes, and trustworthy, proficient ‘companions’…once you get accustomed to them and their…quirks…anyway. With regular upkeep and maintenance these ships are expected to have long ‘life-spans’ and those that have been modified, often haven’t been modified much…they simply don’t require it. They are exceedingly rare, however, and most cost well above the range of your run of the mill bounty hunter or mercenary…

For the most part you were spot-on, imo. Its just that some of the stats were a point or two high and I marked them as such. If you see anything you don't like keep in mind that Arh is the final word here. Edit: Also, it looks (by the pic) that is has a cargo container or a secondary prisoner section; if you want that you could add it.

May want to knock vs. fighter efficiency down one; light lasers are effective but not that effective vs. starfighters. I actually wanted to add more, but with the pic it's difficult to tell where to add and what to add without making it OP... side note: i was using Slave 1 for some stats, but that ship was OP to me so I didn't want to go nuts here...but it -was- meant to double as a patrol/attack craftPassenger Capacity: 9 (one room with 3 bunks, three small holding cells =with beds=, two isolation cells =restraining seat only=, one captain’s quarters) Itty-bitty living space.../Genie?Cargo Capacity: 30 tons Consumables: 47 days (approx. 1 ½ months) Hanger Facilities/Starfighter Capacity: N/A Other: - Military grade ray shield generator (stock)

- Dual medium laser cannon turret, retractable (x1 – ventral, 360 degree rotation)
The ship as a whole would fare better against some fighters than...some fighters. A tougher shell means more time for this armament to bring itself to bear. 6-7 is acceptable.Passenger Capacity: 9 (one room with 3 bunks, three small holding cells =with beds=, two isolation cells =restraining seat only=, one captain’s quarters) Maybe up the dimensions a tiny bit--people take up a lot of space even in the most spartan of situations.Cargo Capacity: 30 tons This is with the box, right? lol well, I'd not honestly thought about it, but it would be the most logical, yes. Without it would likely be more like 2-3 tons, since (in doing the math) about 7 people each one at exactly 165 lbs a piece would only equate to about half a metric ton. Considering the weight of some of the lager/heavier species and actual -cargo- capacity on the ship, there's likely only enough space for that much on the ship itself. Should I edit this in, then?Consumables: 47 days (approx. 1 ½ months) Hanger Facilities/Starfighter Capacity: N/A Other: - Military grade ray shield generator (stock)
- Military grade sensor array (stock)
- Advanced targeting system (stock)
- Sensor jamming system (stock)
- Sensor masking system (stock) I do believe this is explained in the history. It was sir, yes. Right here: "The Givin designers refused to allow their creations to simply go to waste, however, recalling and refitting the series with magnetic grapples, active sensor masks, and sensor jammers to sweeten the deal."
- Mag-grapples, retractable (x2 – ventral) (stock)
- Docking ring (x1) (stock)
- Floodlights/running lights (x11 – 4 fore, 5 ventral, 1 on each ‘wing’ tip) (stock)
- Short-term Air recycling system (x1 – duration 3 days) (stock)
- Valid landing codes for Republic, Sith and Mandalorian planets (custom)
- Solar collecting panels (custom)
Statistics- Remember we're on a universal scale here.Speed: 7 Maneuverability: 7 Effectiveness vs. Star-fighters: 6 Effectiveness vs. Capital Ships: 1 Armor: 5 Due to this universal scale, one or both of your defensive stats ought to take a hit. Hurr...tough call here, but with the solar panels added I suppose armor will be the thing to suffer for it since...well, it would suffer anyway, but I'd like to keep the shielding where it is.Shielding: 5 Sensors: 6 Reliability: 5
