Official Name: V23 Light Recon Armor
Faction/Affiliation: Sith
Weight: 8kg
Manufacturer: Visari Enterprises
Classification: Multi-purpose
Rating: III
Composition: Durasteel and ceramic plates, carbon-fiber/fluid mesh
Description:
*sans colors and knife
Designed by Visari Enterprises, the V23 is typically worn by recon units, snipers, and non-frontline personnel. Compared to Sith infantry and battle armors, it trades a certain amount of protection and durability for flexibility and ease of movement. Based on an Echani design, the armor's interlocking durasteel and ceramic plates protect the wearer's vitals from slugthrowers and shrapnel, as well as providing some protection against light blasters. Carbon-fiber mesh covers the areas between the plates, allowing for flexibility with a modest amount of protection.
The helmet comes with a faceplate that can swing upwards or be removed entirely, and is equipped with low-light and infrared vision modes. A simple targeting aid can also be installed, but most users prefer to forgo that option in favor of actually being able to aim. The helmet also has a comlink and an audio amplification device, to make the wearer's voice easier for others to hear, although even on its highest volume, it still isn't very loud.
The armor has also found use by officers, who sometimes wear it as something in between a formal uniform and full battle-armor. Those worn by officers often have stripes of color on the upper arm, signifying rank.
It is rumored that the armor has also found use among certain members of the Sith Order.
