Miran smiled as she looked at the microchip she held aloft with her tweezers. Hope this sucker works.... She thought as she began sliding it into the special socket she had spent all week reworking the microcircuitry for. The chip slipped in with a satisfying, tho very faint, click.
She started adding power to the various circuit lines. At one tenth of a volt and a 50 microamps, the power wouldn't fry anything if she'd done something wrong, but it would give her a test signal to work with. She began moving a specialized sensor over the various circuits and pathways, scanning for the proper stat returns. Everything adds up. She thought to herself, slowing increasing the test signal's strength. Perhaps this will work the way it's supposed to.
She was just starting to consider adding another piece when the comm panel chimed, startling her from her work. She got out of her seat and headed to the commpanel to chew her husband out some. "Darren, you had better have a good reason for that, you could've had me break one of these components, and you know how long it took us to have them made!" She could practically see the grin on his face as he chuckled mildly. "Oh come now, if you were holding something I wouldn't have bothered. 'sides, you looked like you could use the intermission. Now get your pretty little shebs up here, we're landing."
Miran sighed. "Fine. I'll be there as soon as I can square all the stuff away." she clicked the comm off and set about putting things away. Several moments later she closed the heavy trapdoor that hid the armory as gently as she could manage, the 2mm thick lining of neruanium alloy made the not-quite square meter trapdoor mass well over twenty kilos after all. It took her another moment to secure the other various things that made it a hidden compartment propper before she headed to the bridge. No simple cockpit for the Cuyir, she had a formal bridge-like compartment, complete with six stations.
