"Oh, is that so? He usually doesn't sell them for a high price if you know how to haggle and drop an extra credit or two to bring him the right gifts.
Nah, I jest there. The old man's pretty stubborn about prices, but he's got the heart of a pilot. He'd make sure you got the ship he felt was right for you, even if he had to wait for a while in order to get the full funding for it. Course, as rumor goes, he puts a little device somewhere in the ship that lets him find you wherever you are to get that credit...but I haven't found it yet."
Ervisa took the chance during Shine's discourse to eat more of her food. Damn it was delicious, she'd really outdone herself with this. Of course that wasn't to say she wasn't listening. She was, but she had to admit the concept wasn't especially compelling.
Buying a ship? That smelled suspiciously like responsibility to her. There were so many aspects of owning a ship that she couldn't see herself dealing with. Managing budgets, setting schedules, negotiating work. What she did was fly them, get paid, and have copious amounts of fun. Ervisa moved from job to job, and getting tied down was the last thing on her mind. Buying a ship would be like... like getting married. Now there was a laugh. Who could ever picture her in a fancy dress walking down the aisle?
The Mirialan fringer tried very hard not to smirk at that mental image. She was only marginally successful, and a trace of a lopsided smile appeared on her lips.
No though, she wasn't interested in buying a ship. Unless maybe she won a lottery and had enough money to do whatever the hell she wanted, regardless of budgets.
"Hah, Shiny huh?
Ervisa nodded. He was Shiny now. There was no way she was not going to call him that, it was too perfect. As it happened, she seemed to defy nicknames. Hell, even adjectives were hard to describe her with. Ervisa was simply Ervisa, and there was no way else to put that.
"Oddly enough, not the first time I've been given that nickname and likely won't be the last. Anyway, if your not looking for a craft at the moment, that's alright. The offer still stands in case you ever need it..."
Stood to reason. Shiny was too perfect a nickname to ignore, and he'd probably had it since grade school. Which meant there was a good chance he didn't like it. Not that it would stop her from using it. Wild horses couldn't keep her from it. Though rancors possibly, though there'd have to be a lot of them.
"...As for the settling down thing, I think I should clear up some confusion. You may have got the impression that's the reason I asked you to stick around; make some more formal bond or what not. Now, that's half true. While I did want you to stick around to get to know you a bit better, my intentions were more along the lines of friends, acquaintances, that kind of thing. I like meeting and making interesting friends and your fall into the interesting area quite easily."
More formal bond? Stick around? Settling down? Surely he wasn't... She resisted the urge to laugh riotously. Relationships? As if she really wanted those? Ervisa took life one day at a time, and one man at a time. Well, occasionally two. She wasn't interested in anything lasting longer than a night. It wasn't her way.
When told she was 'interesting' she waved her hand. "D'awwww, you're gonna make me blush."
She winked at him to solidify her jest.
"With that in mind, I've got a proposition for you. If your willing to listen to a young Corellian's battle plan that is."
The Mirialan pilot shoved away her now-empty plate, rested her elbows on the table, and cupped her chin in her hands, idly drumming her cheek with her slender fingers.
"I'm all ears hot stuff. Say your bit."

The fact that he had spoken so much had left Shine at a disadvantage in terms of how much food he had consumed compared to her. While Ervisa was polishing off her plate, the final remnants of her fabulous meal being nothing more then little crumbs, Shine's plate still contained about half of its original contents. Note to self, more eating, less talking for a few minutes.
He quickly went about that, indicating to her with a finger to give him a minute as he forked a bit more of the meal into his waiting mouth. He kept to his manners and tried not to rush the devouring of his food during that minute, also wanting to savor the taste. Gulping his latest chomps down, Shine moved his plate to the side and placed his arms crossed on the table, leaning forward slightly.
"My proposition is simple in words, probably harder in action. You see, I'm the kind of man that makes sure to payback any debts I might have occurred, whether they be of money or favors. That being said, I'm also the kind of man that knows what he can do and yet also know when to call in the proper help.
I see lots of jobs come and go as I scour the galaxy. I'm only one man, sadly, and therefore I cannot take all of these jobs. When that happens, I tend to shoot a certain job to people I consider my friends or acquaintances, areas I hope you'll fall into. I never shoot a job to a person if I don't think they are capable of handling it; I'm not stupid enough to send people into a place where they'll be in over their heads.
So, my offer is this. I ask for a way to stay in contact with you and, should I come across a job more suited to you over me, I'll pass it along. With that said, and this is completely up to you, but there are times I might need to call in some assistance for a job. IF you're available at that time, I would like to be able to call you up to ask for that help. I'll give you a fair split of the earnings in each case, as if you were part of my own crew.
So, that's my offers in a nutshell. Does it peek your interest in the slightest or have I simply wasted some time that could have been better spent?"

Ervisa's eyebrow slowly traveled up her forehead as Shine made his proposition. A discussion on job offers? Nothing had been further from her mind. She'd come here for a good time, not for business. Hell, she rarely ever had time for business, just some haggling over prices when someone had a ship but needed a pilot. A solid half of her income came from gambling, often times doubling what she'd made on an actual job. Oh how she'd been itching to get to Pantolomin, spending some luxurious time gambling in the middle of a coral reef...
But she didn't exactly have the burning desire to do what she believed was called 'networking' in business circles. She let him know that once he'd finished talking.
"Look Shiny, in the first place I don't exactly have a mailing address you can reach me at if you wanted to get a hold of me. In the second place, I don't find jobs, and people don't find jobs for me. Jobs find me. I move from one of them to the next without any planning. I live in the moment, not the future. This is probably the most time I've spent talking in weeks. In fact, this is probably the most I've said in weeks. I'm not used to talking much. And thirdly, I don't 'do' relationships. Love or business, I'm a one-shot kind of girl."
The Mirialan woman sighed, moving an unruly lock of hair out of her eyes as she realized she'd probably sounded a little harsher than she'd intended. Maybe this was why she didn't talk to people often, didn't get to know them. She just couldn't express herself all that eloquently, and she wound up stepping on toes. Sometimes she did it on purpose, but definitely not on this occasion.
"Nothing personal or anything, but I'm not really on the job market here. And you might want someone a little more... dependable anyway. No offense."

Shine sat in silence across from Ervisa, watching calmly her reaction to his proposal. Her reaction was…not wholly unexpected, but a part of Shine had hoped he wouldn’t see it. The part of him that wished to expand his circle of informants and contacts was saddened to hear her reject the offer, as was the basic part of him, the animal side that craved the actions that they’d done a short while ago. But the logical side of him, the part that could understand her reasoning’s and accept them , smiled lightly.
Holding up a hand to wave off what she might have perceived as an insult, Shine shrugged his shoulders. ”Don’t worry, I’m not offended. Its always a fifty fifty chance when making this offer, so I expect some people to say no. I’ll admit, I’m a bit sad about it, but I’m a grown boy as you learned first hand. I’ll live.
However, I would very much like to have a way to contact you again, either to have a drink or if you’re ever bored enough to bother with little old me again, another romp in the saddle. I’m not asking now for a lover or for a business partner or a connection to jobs. I’m asking for us to be friends; the rest of the stuff is just fringe benefits compared to that.” Still smiling, he slowly cleared away the plates that were empty, tossing them into the washer so they could be cleansed later. Then he turned to face her again.
”You’re a unique person Ervisa and putting your physical gifts aside, your personality alone would make me want to be your friend. So, if you’ll have me, I would be honored to call you a friend and have you call me the same. Heh and I’ll be perfectly honest; knowing a lady that can handle a lightsaber as well as she handles the pilot stick is unquestionably amazing. You’ll have to show me one day just how good you are. Again…if that’s alright with you.”

Whew. Now that was a relief. Force senses or not, she hadn't known how he'd take that, well, rejection. Seem people reacted well, and others didn't. There wasn't really any way to know which way it would be. You had to take these things one sentence at a time and see how it went. It was good to know he wasn't offended and didn't feel spurned.
Ervisa wasn't exactly a fan of making people mad. Sure it was an occupational hazard on the fringe, but by and large she didn't feel any sort of need to have conflict going on. The fact there was no conflict here was that much nicer. Wouldn't help if either of them got all worked up.
"However, I would very much like to have a way to contact you again, either to have a drink or if you’re ever bored enough to bother with little old me again, another romp in the saddle. I’m not asking now for a lover or for a business partner or a connection to jobs. I’m asking for us to be friends; the rest of the stuff is just fringe benefits compared to that.”
One green hand reached up to her face, and a single finger tapped her lips thoughtfully, running that idea through her mind. Friends. Could she handle that? She didn't exactly have anyone close to her, and for good reason. When people got close you grew attached, and then when you failed them... It wasn't a pretty picture. She had a lot of baggage when it came to attachments, which she'd renounced on leaving the Jedi. Strange that she hadn't when she was in there. Daft idea really, attachment. Countless ways to get hurt and worry about other people when you could live a long and happy life roaming from bed to bed and bar to bar without getting close, without getting attached.
But could it really hurt? Not really. Especially since she had no contact information to give him...
At the quip about handling a lightsaber, the Mirialan woman reached down and pulled the weapon in question from her belt, tossing it up into the air, catching it in her hand and twirling it around in two fingers like some kind of deranged drum major in a marching band, as if it were a harmless toy rather than a lethal weapon. Her exhibitionist streak was flaring up again, as it did from time to time.
"Flattery will get you nowhere honey, but don't stop trying," Ervisa said slickly, sliding the lightsaber back into its spot on her belt.
"All right. I'll be your friend. But here's the thing, I have no contact information. I'm a wanted felon and I live off the grid. I drift from planet to planet and job to job. I'm very hard to find, and very hard to follow. But if you can find me again, you can count on another meal. Now if any of that scares you, then you can give up on the friendship idea. But if you're still fine with it..."
The ex-Jedi held out a hand, with the diamond tattoos etched into the back of her hand standing out against the green of her skin.

Shine watched in quiet silence as his words sunk into Ervisa, her eyes telling him the story that every single thing he said was being worked about in her mind. He could see the intelligence in those eyes, could tell that everything he had said was being processed and sorted out and from that, her decision was being made. He'd offered her terms that were satisfactory on all levels, at least he thought so.
At his comment about her lightsaber, she pulled it from her belt and tossed it up before twirling it around her fingers. Shine couldn't help but grin and mutter "showoff" under his breath, though he meant no ill will behind the term.
Finally, she seemed to come to a conclusion. She deflected his flattery, which in this case was actual comments he was making out of respect. Her tone suggested the opposite of not wanting him to use more; he knew she liked it. Then came the moment of truth; and in a flash, it passed by and Shine could breathe a welcome sigh of relief. She'd agreed to be his friend and even seemed to give him some ways out if he thought that her side wasn't fit for friendship. It was the farthest thing from the truth.
"That's all I'm asking. Its a pleasure to be called your friend and to call you the same Ervisa." Taking her hand in his, he shook it firmly, then pulled it up and lightly tapped his lips to the back of it. Ah, the things he learned about being a gentleman from his father...
"The contact thing is less of a problem then we think. I can just give you "my" information and you can contact me whenever you want. Its my personal line, so unless I'm being held hostage or unable to answer for whatever reason, I'll answer it. And I welcome the challenge of tracking you down for another dinner; your cooking is a welcome reward to go with your company.
Well, I guess this is where I let you head off to do what you do." He turned to escort her out, then grinned playfully as they passed his room to the ramp. "Unless, of course, you want to work off those calories we just obtained?"

Ervisa listened with a casual interest to what Shine had to say next, wondering vaguely if he had any interest in what her felony was. She was fully prepared to spin a delicious little yarn about vehicular homicide on Pantolomin. Running over a mime with a stolen delivery truck. She even itched for the chance to end with 'a mime is a terrible thing to waste.'
"That's all I'm asking. Its a pleasure to be called your friend and to call you the same Ervisa."
Instead he took her hand. And then Shine kissed it, with a real gentlemanly panache that the Mirialan woman could appreciate. That was just plain classy, and it felt nice to be treated like a lady, even if, well, she wasn't exactly ladylike. At the end of the day, Ervisa Therani was one hell of a tomboy, and not exactly candidate for princess of the month.
"The contact thing is less of a problem then we think. I can just give you "my" information and you can contact me whenever you want. Its my personal line, so unless I'm being held hostage or unable to answer for whatever reason, I'll answer it. And I welcome the challenge of tracking you down for another dinner; your cooking is a welcome reward to go with your company."
There was a problem. The Mirialan wasn't exactly good with contacting people. If the ball was in her court... Well she'd never get it started, but that was all right. Odds were he'd forget about her in a month anyway, that was just the way it went. Have a good time, head off in opposite directions, and that was that. End of story.
Well, maybe she'd call him back some time anyway. Possibly if she ever needed a hand out of a sticky situation. Was that low? Well, maybe a little, but that was life. Everyone had an agenda. Her agenda was really no different from anyone else's. Maybe a little more sex... and drinking... and smoking...
Okay, her agenda was different.
Well, I guess this is where I let you head off to do what you do. Unless, of course, you want to work off those calories we just obtained?"
"Tempting," Ervisa said as she let her hand stray to a rather sensitive area, "But we had our roll in the hay sugar. Now it's time I shipped out, and time for you to clean your sheets so those stains will come out."
Ervisa winked to drive home that point, then leaned up against him and grabbed his face with her hands and kissed him. It was a very short one, but she made up for it with a bit of passion. When she broke free she simply waved before shouldering her duffel and walking down the open ramp and back into the fresh air.
This break was over, and it was time to get back to work.
