"You... would? No one has ever really offered before..."[/color]
Jia blinked at Var's words. How could no one have ever wanted to be her friend? No one at all? She didn't understand it. Var wasn't mean, or weird, or scary or anything that would make Jia herself want to stay away from her or ignore her so why would anyone else? She was already surprised enough that so many people apparently ignored the teenager. The thought that nobody at all ever offered to be her friend... That was even more shocking to the child. The girl was surprised enough to vocalize it.
"Really? No one at all?" The youngling paused for a short moment, looking thoughtful as she did. "Well... I'll be your friend." The little Mirialan nodded firmly as if to show that her decision was final. Her mind was made up and stubbornness locked it into place.
Jia was the kind of child who could make friends with pretty much anyone very quickly, once the walls of timidness were broken down. The fact that she stumbled upon this teenage girl who she knew practically nothing about, yet was completely certain that she would be her friend after all of ten minutes, highlighted that pretty well. That trait had potential to get her into some trouble in later years, but for now, the naivety just made her seem all the more innocent.
"You can talk to me, and tell me when you're sad, and I can help you feel better. 'Cause friends do that."
