Ryn smirked as he heard the metallic clatter of her lightsaber slamming into the floor of the training room. Now the odds were even once again. Kind of. It was then that he realized the two were, in fact, bathed in darkness once again... and for some odd reason Talau could always seem to easily find him in the shadows. So, without hesitation, his left hand directed a wave of air to flip the lights on. In an instant a dozen stars lit up at the top of the circular room, basking every object inside with light.
Including Talau.
Now, the great thing about fighting another Martial Artist, especially when you know more of unarmed combat than your adversary, is that you know what to expect. You know the certain little tricks that one can do from a certain position, certain posture, and certain stance. Speaking of Stances, Talau was in the Crane... graceful speed. Arctic Blue eyes danced about her form, taking in every last angle of her body... and they all screamed punch to the chest. Now, granted, at best it was a well educated inference... but so was just about everything when it came to reading people.
Two arms clamped together at the center line of his chest, folding back into his biceps, as he brought his elbow into his abdomen. The result, was a shield that would take all of the damage for his rib cage. And it did just that, for her fists slammed right into the meaty arms of Ryn Sundar. His rebuttle was as quick as it was powerful... and simple. While keeping his left arm guarding his rib cage, his right flung outwards in a quick jab at Tal's chest... aiming for an area between her ribs. After the quick jab was complete his right arm went back to guarding while his left shot outwards at her gut. The guard-jab-guard-jab combo worked well for him, and the best part of it was that it wasn't a maneuver within Broken Gate... but Teras Kasi.
Oh how he loved Teras Kasi.

((crane kung fu, snake kung fu, Aikido –am using this as a sub form of Broken Gate-- ))Kriff! That should have worked! Ryn couldn’t match her in speed and agility and so, in all rights, her attack should have worked but…well obviously it hadn’t as he’d brought his defenses up faster than she’d been able to strike. Talau didn’t take time to dwell on it, immediately shading her eyes with her eyelids as the lights flickered on overhead, her advantage gone. The strike back wasn’t unexpected and she slipped past in, recoiling into snake form as she arched her body backward, and directed his punch to the side with a palm, slipping in around his defenses to jab her fingers into the space between his abdominal muscles. Another jab at her and she ducked to the side of it, turning so that her legs folded beneath her, keeping her out of Ryn’s reach and allowing her to strike upward at the soft tissue just above where his hip met the pelvis. Stepping back swiftly, she found another jab headed her direction. Stupid man could handle pain too well! Twisting around his blow and out of her crouched stance, she immediately switched to Aikido and caught his wrist in one hand as his fist flew past her. Sidestepping around him, she redirected the speed and strength of his attack, seeking to lead him around in a circle in front of her as she grabbed his forearm with her other hand and used that momentum to try and bring him down to the mats below (( link)). No, Talau wasn’t the best at Broken Gate, but Shoal had taught her enough of this sub-form to be able to at least redirect the punch and, with a bit of help from the force, potentially take her attacker down with little fuss. This was, actually, one of the moves she was better at…having some relative success at taking her larger mentor down…or at least avoiding the inevitable ending of him putting her down face first on the blue mat that padded the floor. She’d like to see his blocking hold up to this.

It seemed that Talau had learned a bit more in Adiko, a subform of broken gate, than he knew. Because, well, before he knew it his steel-fist was grabbed onto, shoved forward and around, and forcing him to flip around in the air. Of course, by the nature of the flip, he'd land right on his arse with no chance for recovery. All that he could really do is observe the room as it blurred from the motion, and ponder how to get out of this one.
Ryn was many things, sneaky was one of them.
He hadn't even hit the ground when his left hand latched onto Talau's right arm. The boy had barely hit the ground before his other arm shot out to her right leg (his left) in an attempt to latch on and hold her in place. Naturally, he couldn't simply leave his motion at that. Oh no. Ryn pulled her hand down just as he was grabbing for her leg. Should she decide to pull the leg back he'd simply use his force enhanced speed and strength to yank her down and grab a hold of her, then use his grappling skills to get the upper hand. Should she keep her leg there he'd have the said leg, then all it would take is for him to grab onto her other leg and pull himself towards her, and down to the ground.

Just because one could feel the warnings of the force, could discern their meaning and react accordingly…that didn’t always keep one from being caught unawares…especially not when one was a padawan. Certainly Talau had felt the warning echoes in the force battering against her, urging her into the proper turn, the correct twist of body and arm, that would allow her to free herself from both his grip and his attempt for her leg. Unfortunately, she just wasn’t fast enough or skilled enough, yet, to do so…at least, not without possibly injuring herself.
She twisted her lower body away, keeping that other hand from reaching her, but his pull had her off balance enough that she stumbled forward. In an attempt to flow with the motion, she allowed him to pull her downward. Her free hand slammed against the mat as she attempted to half cartwheel over him and to the other side of him to hopefully get herself free. Not only would that have been a futile attempt, but the whole thing was just a bad idea…plain and simple. There wasn’t enough momentum for her to perform the stunt she’d just tried to pull and not enough balance for her to flip herself back to her feet. Her eyes widened slightly as she looked down at him from her upside down position, her expression one of complete astonishment that she’d tried something so STUPID. This was gonna hurt like hell.
O'sik.
There simply wasn’t any better word for that moment in time.
All she could do was allow her arm to give out and tuck her head toward her chest as she felt herself falling backward. Falling backward, from an upside-down position…she decided…was NOT a pleasant feeling. Poor Ryn was about to get an unintentional body slam.

A devilish smirk spread Ryn's lips thin as he looked up at the "aww hell" expression on his sparring partner's face. She knew that she was about to go down hard. Ryn knew that she was about to go down hard. The Force knew that she was about to go down hard. What no one expected, however, was for Talau to make a half-brained muscle memory attempt to recover from the pull. The Jedi's grip on her wrist was too tight, however, but not tight enough to actually hurt the woman. "Awww o'shhhhhhk!!!" Ryn said just as the woman's body slammed into his.
This stunned him terribly... but not long enough for him to try and lace an arm around her neck and pull her up into the perfect position for a rear-naked choke. He didn't go full bore, however, instead he moved his free hand down to her side and began to allow his fingers to pass lightly over the clothes... tickling her. A wicked grin replaced that devilish smirk as began to tickle torture the bruenette woman.

It hadn’t only stunned him.
Landing on your back was one thing, landing on your back on top of someone else was a bit different…especially when the person you just landed on was a guy you happened to sort of, kind of, maybe like-ish-ness…and stuff. She was stunned enough that she didn’t even have enough thought to move as that arm hooked around her neck from behind. What stunned her more, however, was what he did next…tickle her. Twisting about in his grip, she attempted to get away while trying to remain quiet. It wouldn’t do to have her giggling and yelping and drawing attention while in such a position.
Ryn! Force help me, Ryn! I’m gonna kick your arse if you don’t cut this out! We’re gonna get caught!
Her voice was little more than a hissed mutter as she spoke. Poor girl…as much as she disliked being tickled, she was liking this far more than she cared to admit. Well, it couldn’t really be helped, she WAS a teenager after all, and that included all kinds of nifty changes in mentality, body, and…oh yes…the hormones. Needless to say, the brunette was cursing Ryn to all corners of the galaxy in her mind as she tried, vainly, to get him to stop tickling her.

He couldn't help but chuckle at Talau's reaction to his fingers as they lightly brushed her side, causing her to squirm in his grasp. Ryn had to admit, however, that having the girl that he rather... maybe... sort of.... kind of liked on top of him was stimulating. Stimulating enough to make him want to shift positions. Fast. In a single flash of movement he threw his weight around so that she was below him, and after allowing her to turn around he quickly attempted to pin her arms and legs down.
"Pinned," he said simply. A slight smile of satisfaction pursed his lips at the apparent victory, it disappeared as quickly as it came, however. A fire kindled itself deep within his cheeks as he looked down at her lithe form, the very same one that he rendered immobile. The heaving chest from the exertion of the duel they'd just had, the thin layer of sweat making her skin glisten and shine lightly, and of course.... those eyes. Those beautiful eyes of hers, the color of which constantly shifted about like the skin of a chameleon.
It seemed that previously unknown emotions cropped up within the boy as he gazed down at the girl he had pinned. What was this? The squiggly feeling in his stomach. Why did his heart rate speed up every time his gaze met hers? Why did it stop at the same time? He drew but one conclusion: there was something wrong with him. That was, quite simply, the only conclusion one in his position could draw. He was a Jedi! Anything beyond the friendship level emotion regarding the opposite sex was simply unthinkable!
Yet, there he was... a deep red blush staining a great area of his cheeks and his chest heaving from the spar he'd had not five minutes before. He couldn't help but notice that her long brunette hair was splayed out on the floor, those little beads clamping down on a few locks of hair. He would have gulped... if he could control himself. But, as it stood, all he could do was simply gaze down at her with a blank look on his face.

In a whirl of motion, she found herself flipped over onto the mats. Twisting around so she wouldn’t be half on her face, the young woman found herself pinned down with Ryn basically straddling her. Blinking, she huffed slightly as his cocky little smile and his statement, but that was far from the top of her list of observations. Talau felt her skin grow hot as they looked at each other, as she noticed the weight of his larger form pressing down against her to keep her pinned below him. Blue and green tinted eyes mixed with threads of silver as she looked up at him, his padawan braid tickling lightly against her pink stained cheek. His warm breath washed across her skin lightly, the movement of his chest as he caught his breath making the muscle he was building brush lightly against her chest as she too worked to catch her breath, the slight sheen his skin had taken on during their spar dully mirrored those sparkling blue eyes…eyes that glistened and danced like the crystal blue waves of oceans she’d only ever dreamed of.
For a moment she was at a loss of what to think, or how to feel…all she knew was this odd tightening in her gut and a fluttering of her heart as if so many butterfly wings flitted about within it. She suddenly noticed that her fingers were freezing while the rest of her felt as if she would set on fire at any moment. Her mind felt foggy and she wondered, mildly, why this was. She didn’t believe there was anything wrong with her…but then…why was her heart beating that way? Why, suddenly, were her fingers frozen and her body felt like she’d caught a fever? She didn’t FEEL sick but…no…this wasn’t any illness of the body, she was sure of it. This was something else entirely…but what?
Like all jedi, she was told to be mindful of her emotions…but how could one be mindful of their emotions when one didn’t know just WHAT emotion they were feeling? Talau had, of course, come to the conclusion that this was an emotion and not an illness. No illness she knew of could take hold in mere seconds, after all, but emotions certainly could. Struggling to keep her mind focused on what was happening to her (rather than Ryn) was no small task, and eventually she lost the battle. Gazing up at him, the teen found her mind straying…wondering things she knew she shouldn’t have been wondering…things like ‘I wonder if his lips are as soft as they look,’ or ‘I wonder what it feels like to kiss someone.’ A jedi she may have been, but that didn’t make her completely ignorant on the subject of affection. In the missions she’d gone on with Shoal she’d seen all manner of ways of showing affection to others: hugs, nuzzles, bows, headbutts, kisses…she’d even seen a bit more than she’d have ever cared to see…and now she was wondering just what it was like to kiss someone.
As she forced her mind to come back to the present, she found him gazing down at her blankly. Part of her wanted to know what he was thinking, was tempted to poke around in his mind to find out, but part of her wasn’t certain she wanted to find out. The silence drew on for what felt like ages and, if she hadn’t been so afraid to break the spell, Talau might have said something. As it was, however, she felt that saying something now would have been a very foolish idea indeed…so she remained quiet, waiting (almost breathlessly) to see what he would do.

Magnetism. Generally it was between something charged with its field and a metal, but that was not the case here. In this particular instance it felt as if Talau herself was charged up with a massive field of magnetic power, and Ryn? Ryn was the durasteel chunk. Or his face was, anyways. He slowly craned his head downward towards her face until his lips were a few meager micrometers from those plush vestibules that Talau called her lips. He found it nigh impossible to think while he was so close to the girl, yet it was impossible not to think. His mind was racing with the outcomes of what he was about to do, yet it was idle.
His heart beat a thousand times a second within the hardened cage of his chest, yet it felt as if it had stopped dead. The boy's skin felt as if she had doused it in napalm... and all that was required was a single spark to set his skin ablaze. A soft whisp of a grove of lotus flowers gently drifting in a pool wafted into his nose, nearly making the boy close his eyes from the pleasure and serenity of the picture. In a final act of movement, Ryn spanned the rest of the short distance and allowed his lips to touch those soft pink lips of hers.
The feeling was one that he'd never felt before, it felt as if a charge of electricity prickled up within his lips and charged within his skull... then finally shot down the length of his spine. It caused gooseflesh to prickle up on his arms. It was barely a few seconds of this forbidden pleasure that he realized what he had done. Ryn had just forsaken the Jedi code and sexually assaulted Talau... his best friend... in one fell swoop. Those ice blue crystals set within his head shot open wide at this revelation, and he promptly yanked himself away and off of her. "I-i-i... I'm sorry," he managed to stammer as he was pulling himself to his feet.
The brunette man held out his hand just as Sol came within arm's length, the slap of skin barely registering in his troubled mind. A blur of brown and tan was all that Talau would have seen as he swept out of the room like a gust of wind, barely having time to clip his lightsaber to his belt before the door behind him slid closed.

Whatever she’d been expecting…whatever Talau might have thought a kiss could be like…it certainly wasn’t this. A swirl of emotions built up inside her as her eyes slid closed, her body relaxing into the kiss. It was both relaxing and yet it made an odd tension build up in her that she couldn’t quite explain. As soon as it had started, however, it was over and Ryn was leaping up with a stammered apology. Purple, blue, green, silver, they all swirled about in her eyes as they opened with her confusion on the situation. Sitting up, she watched him called Sol to his hand and hurried out of the room. All she could do was just sit there, utterly baffled about what had just gone on. It hadn’t been that bad, the kiss…in fact, she’d thought it had been…good. She wasn’t hurt, so why had he apologized and rushed out like that?
With a sigh, the young woman tried to puzzle the situation out, but to no avail. There was just no understanding it. Certainly it wasn’t very ‘jedi-like’ but one kiss didn’t mean anything, right? A few of her other friends had been curious about kissing and tried it also…some had done worse (not that they’d admitted to it verbally, but Talau knew…some people’s minds were like open books that shouted their pages at her)…so why had Ryn reacted that way? Shaking her head, she stood and tried not to let it get to her…she’d just have to ask him later. For now, however, she needed to find Master Toth.
