Name: Attean Thes
Race: Talortai
Age: 18 (Attean is not immune to the effects of aging until he reaches twenty]
Height: 6’1
Weight: 175 LBS
Appearance: Attean
Birth place: Dantooine
Faction: Jedi Order
Rank: Padawan (Wants to be Jedi Sentinel and Historian)
Personality: Attean' view of himself is that of a Jedi and without the Order he believes himself to be nothing. He has fully embraced the Jedi lifestyle and everything that it encompasses. He shuns possessions and the materialistic lifestyle. All of Attean' belongings could be packed into a small sack if required. He is quiet and respectful of his elders and peers. He has an inquisitive mind and is curious of the universe around him.
Selfless and dedicated, Attean normally works himself to exhaustion to reach whatever goal is set before him. Attean possesses a disciplined mind and has always had a strong connection with the force. He cannot imagine how some go their entire lives without experiencing something that is essential to her life. In various situations, Attean has shown his ability to lie, and persuade. Gann often would refer to his Padawan as a ‘silver tongue devil’, due to Atteans’ mastered ability to persuade.
Attean is, to put it simply, an obtuse individual. During normal conversations, he does not pick up on jokes well, and he is a thinker. Not that he is slow, Attean just prefers to take things slow whenever possible. Think them out, and decide the consequences before acting.
In combat, however, he is quite acute. He makes quick decisions but does not think, usually, and draws from his training to determine the best course of action in a fight or during an emergency. At such times, his mental activity goes up by a noticeable margin, his face becomes sharp and aware, and he will not be afraid to act on what he thinks is the best course of action.
Attean’s ability to persuade, has also resulted in peace-keeping; Often talking his way out of a situation before resorting to violence. But be warned, Attean is more than capable of fatal outcomes. He would resort to force especially when the lives of others are at risk. Attean would gladly put himself in the line of fire to protect an innocent. He can be impulsive in certain situations and would not think twice about rendering aid to those in need.
He has recognized this flaw and is currently trying to deal with it, although it will take some time and with his slow thinking, he is often able to stop his vanity after a minute or two.
Bio: Attean joined the Jedi Order at a very young age, so young in fact, that any memories pertaining to his parents have been long lost. He was born on Dantooine to a pair of Talortai that emigrated to the blossoming planet on the Outer Rim many years before Atteans' birth. Their baby was only nine months old when an aged man garbed in robes approached them in the street and started the wheels of fate turning. He explained the destiny and potential their little boy had. Hesitantly and after much deliberation over a number of weeks, Attean was given to the Order to be raised in the Jedi way. The Masters haven't found many Talortai for years on end, resulting in him shipped to Coruscant to keep a watchful eye on Atteans' development.
The young Attean was placed into a clan and begun his training at the temple. Having already a strong connection with the force, he easily stood out from his peers. He was a natural and many of the Masters expected great things from him. But concerns grew as Attean matured and begun to ask questions about his biological family. The Initiate was distraught to learn that his mother and father had simply handed her to the Order. He resented their decision and there was worry that it could twist into something darker. The young Talortai emerged from his bitter fog after many hours of counseling. After speaking with the Jedi who discovered him and listening to his harrowing story of how torn his parents were, he understood that it was done for his benefit and it wasn't a decision they made lightly.
Attean was chosen at the age of ten to be the Padawan of Master Gann. He was influential in Atteans' development. He bestowed in him a healthy curiosity and an unyielding desire to help those less fortunate. He showed Attean that despite sentients most terrible accomplishments they were good people that only wanted peace and security. Master Gann was a great healer and saw great potential within the young Attean. Master Gann skimped on Lightsaber training and focused on the more ethereal aspects of Jedi training. He instructed him in the ways of the Force, explaining how the unfathomable energies could be molded to suit ones will. One meditation exercise Gann had him practice was accelerating the lifecycle of plants. It was an excellent tool to control the subtle nuances of the Force and learn how to influence the ebb and flow to a desired end.
Master Gann's instruction continued for many years and he had the opportunity to put Atteans’ talents to practice during a bitter conflict on a far off world. Master Gann took it upon himself to settle the conflict between the sparring factions and departed with his Padawan immediately. Attean had been warned beforehand, but nothing could have prepared him for the unbridled carnage of open warfare.
As Gann went about negations, he sent Attean into the refugee camps and field hospitals to render aid. It was here that he utilized many of the skills he had been taught and increased his arsenal of talents to include conventional medicine. He never quit, there were so many to help, and he was only one person. Attean felt the weight of the planet on his shoulders and received little comfort as he nursed the wounded back to health; there was always more waiting. Attean worked himself to exhaustion, collapsing from dehydration on more than one occasion. Even his dreams were little comfort, filled with the tormented groans of the dying; he got hardly any sleep. Little did the Padawan know that he was being tested.
With a peaceful solution ratified, Master Gann took Attean away from that desolate world. He was proud of his dedication and knew in his heart that he would make a skilled healer and powerful Jedi given the time and care to flourish. He still had much to learn, however, but this was the first step on his path. Attean never knew the trial he had passed, and what he took from that distant planet, was more than his Master's approval. He took with him the horrors of war and true suffering. His soul had been marred by what he had experienced over the months and those experiences remain with him to this day. But out of the pain and anguish came a strengthened resolve to provide assistance in any way he could, forgoing his own personal safety to help others.
This was also an exercise in futility. Being a healer himself, Master Gann knew the risk those in his profession faced. The desire to save life was strong and understanding that not everyone could be saved was a difficult lesson. By healing one, another may die and choices made directly affected that result. Attean saw that first hand and can still hear the heart wrenching pleas as he worked. These lessons could never be taught; they could only be learnt and experienced the hard way.
Shortly after their return, Master Gann presented his Padawan with the components to his own Lightsaber. Attean was still using his training 'saber and was reluctant to upgrade. Gann knew his student took to the weapon, for he used it from that day on. He did not yet understand that a Lightsaber was more than a weapon to the Jedi. As expected, he thanked his master.
Although Attean was never on a first name basis with his Master, he felt indescribably close to the man. He was like the father he never had and Attean believed that he could be himself in his presence and he would not judge. Master Gann was always there, always willing to listen to Attean’s troubles and answer his questions, which were frequent. The pair got on extremely close. He was the ideal Jedi, stoic and mindful of his emotions. Truth be told, Gann was a role model for Attean. He strived to be a Jedi like him.
But before Master and Padawan could plan a trip to the crystal caves of Ilum, Gann was struck by a fatal accident; an unfitting end for such a great Master. He had been alone at the time. Attean felt his sudden demise. He rushed to his side but it was too late. Gann was gone. Attean felt such great grief; it was indescribable. Although he had experienced death on a scale that few could imagine, this one hurt the most. For weeks, he didn't know how he would continue. But Attean soon came to the realization that he had to. Master Gann had given Attean his most precious gift; his knowledge, experience, and wisdom. Attean couldn't waste that. With ample sorrow still in his heart, the boy pulled himself together the best he could and continued forward.

Attean’s hand outstretched, grunting at the exertion that he was putting forth on the marble statue. A bead of sweat made its way down his cheekbone and dropped to the ground with an almost inaudible sound. The young man’s eyes were screwed shut and his face contorted in a strange shape.
He had been working on getting the massive statue off the ground for nearly 10 minutes. He was making it clear to himself why he was destined to be a Sentinel. Attean’s specie was strong in the force, but he wanted to learn every side of being a Jedi. Suddenly, he felt more than heard a small shift in the weight of the statue. He did not need to open his eyes to tell that it had begun to lift off the ground. He didn’t allow himself a moment to celebrate. This job wasn’t finished yet. Attean lifted the statue so that the bottom of the 15 foot tall structure was at his eye level. Then, with the utmost care, he lowered it back. Miraculously, it landed in the exact same position in which it had begun.
Attean’s features finally relaxed and he let his hand fall to his side. A chuckle crept out of his mouth and his blue eyes lit up with the satisfaction of a job well done. However, sadly, his training was not yet finished. Three small training droids emerged from their small holes in the ground. Immediately they opened fire on Attean. With inhuman speed, he whipped his Lightsaber from the belt at his waist and activated the Dark Green beam. With a flurry of his arms and the blade that seemed to be an extension of them, the red lasers of energy were deflected back to where they came.
The blaster fire picked up speed gradually with every shot that Attean blocked. Eventually, they were shooting so fast that he ceased trying to see them with his eyes, and rather saw them with the Force. In a few seconds though, he would be too tired to continue and the blasts would knock him out. Instead of calling off the program, Attean spun, using a Force Push as he did so. The training droids were sent back, crashing into the walls and shattering to pieces on impact.
