Unknown Squadron Plot

So, yea, after divulging a small idea of mine upon the chat box, I've been... advised... to post the idea up here in order to attract the attention of any possible members.

So, you can probably gather from the title that this is about form a fighter squadron for either the Republic of Sith Empire, there's is nothing planned for definite yet, but I'd just like to see who else out there would be interested and if they had any ideas/preferences.

Also, I'm not sure which fighters either force currently use, so if any mods know, then please, do tell ^^.

I think its a safe bet that ships are still in use from the KOTOR saga. We do however have a new forum that has more ships in it.

The Republic has use of the classic Aurek Fighter (A-wing classic, not the newer one from ROTJ), and the L wing...

The Sith maintain use of their interceptor as well.

The newer ships are also available for use. Like the Lanvarok Fighter.

It's unlikely he's even had training for space combat. And if that's the case, it'd be sending him to his death if he were to join.

No, although I personally am leaning more towards the Republic, I thought I'd let people who'd like to join to voice their opinions. Oh, and PSF, thanks for pointing out the information on the ships.

But yea, my preference is the Republic and an Aurek Fighter for my character ^^. But that's probably just due to the character I've started building in my head.

So that makes three of us interested in it so far, four if Theon's character would be able to join us as a rookie (it would involve him going to flight school).

I'm thinking we need at least four or five people to make this interesting yea?

And so, to those that are interested, what would your preference be, Republic or Sith Empire? Since you know mine's the Republic I'd like to here if anyone does have their preferences.

And also, if we're to have a squadron, would you prefer it to be all the same fighters, or a custom group with each pilot flying whichever ship they prefer in order to make some versatility in the group?

See there are a number of different things to consider. And all of this must be considered before we even start thinking of a name. >.<. Fun fun fun.

Even though I can't join and I have no rght doing this, I'll say it anyway. Aren't sith more fun to blow up than to use? Therefore, Republic would probably be more fun

Hmm, how do you believe it gives us more leeway? Because the way I see it, it doesn't.

Because if you join the Republic, you usually have to be good. You can be a good Sith soldier, but you cannot be an evil Republic soldier. Example:

Your Sith, and are tasked with blowing up a town. You can either do it and be evil, or not and disobey orders to be good, but the same cannot be said for Republic. If tasked with occupying a town, they should not get the option to massacre the town, because that is nothing like the republic.


See, more leeway when it comes to making choices.

I realize I haven't made a character yet, but, I like the idea of a fighter squadron plot. Their less common and offer a different variety of excitement. So, if this isn't me grave-digging, I'd love to be a part of this plot and would second the motion for it to be Pro-Republic. Mostly personal preferences for me. As it doesn't limit your character to having a dark past and committing horrors of war like you would if you played a Sith soldier/pilot.

Yes, you could be less than good characters and serve the Republic, no one ever said that the Republic War machine was still the good guys. They still glassed worlds and destroyed innocents. Maybe less than your typical Sith armada, but destroy they did. There were still Officers and superiors who're corrupt or ruthless, who'd order their company to burn out a village or town, or something like that. The Republic as I interpret it was moreso neutral (grey on Kotor scale) alignment than good (or blue). Their soldiers and kill other people. They are trained to and do it without hesitation. Your average Jedi deplores killing and wouldn't want to. Sith or evil soldiers kill because they find joy in it. Regular soldiers kill because they are told to. They may not like to or may have no feelings about it.

If we've got four of us, I'd call that enough for a bare minimum squadron. Would have liked to have 5 but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

Also, if anyone else is interested in this, there is still going to be plenty of room so just post your interest on here.

Any positions available specifically? And what type of fighters are we talking about? Long-range? Stealth? Snubfighters? Bombers?

Well I was thinking people would prefer some sort of rag-tag group, that way we could either all change to a specific type for a certain mission or we could each fly our preferred ship.
