Biography:
To understand the story of Tem Farelle, one must first know about his father and mother Rayce Farelle and Jera Srih. Tem’s father was born on the inner core planet of Corellia to a working class family and like most children on Corellia, his midiclorian count was tested. His test showed a high midiclorian count so the Jedi Watchmen of the system to come personally to his parents home to ask their permission to train him. After some convincing Rayce’s parents allowed him to be taken to Coruscant to be trained as a Jedi. As Rayce grew he became a promising youngling and was often ahead of the others. He made many friends at the Temple but his greatest friend was Thrak Manssa, another talented youngling who he had known since his arrival at the Temple. The two were inseparable when they were younglings and during their padawan years, but it was during this time that Rayce began to stand out while Thrak began to fall behind. When Rayce was still 21 his master gave permission to undergo the Trials as soon as the council would allow. Thrak's master however stated several times that Thrak was too wild and emotional to pass the trials at the same age. This began to feed a jealousy and anger that Thrak held deep inside not realizing that it would ultimately be what held him back from being a great Jedi. Rayce succeeded on his first attempt at the Trials but Thrak was still a padawan at age 24, this continued causing Thrak to grow even more angry and spiteful of his friend and their great kinship began to fall apart.
It was when Rayce and Thrak were 25 that their friendship finally ended. While on a mission to settle a bloody uprising on Concord Dawn, Thrak and his master disappeared. The council sent Rayce to investigate to find the lost Jedi. Rayce fallowed the trail to the planet of Bakura where he found that Thrak had fallen to the darkside and killed his master. After informing the council they told him to bring Thrak back to the Temple but no other Jedi could arrive before the trail would go cold, so Rayce went alone to find his lost friend. As Rayce followed a trail of murder and evil across the stars he could not believe that this is what had become of his greatest friend and felt that it was somehow his fault. Rayce finally caught up to Thrak on the planet of Ossus, there he confronted Thrak and his mysterious new master Kel’Amondu and fought the evil Master and apprentice. They fought in the ruins of the ancient Jedi Library, and after a long fight Rayce killed Kel’Amondu and then cut off Thrak’s arm. Enraged by his defeat Thrak tried to bring the ceiling on them both. Rayce escaped but Thrak was caught in the rubble and seemingly died. Thrak had in fact survived, vowing to take revenge on his old friend.
After the fight Rayce fell into a deep depression due to the loss of his friend and felt he could no longer continue to serve as a Jedi. Thrak’s fall had shook his belief in the order and his faith in others so he left the order for a time to deal with what happened and to find some peace and calm in his life. It was during this time that he found his way to the peaceful planet of Nadiem where he began living as a hermit. He spent much of his time meditating and helping the locals with the harvest, their simple life bringing peace to his heart and the villagers welcomed him with open arms. He was something of an oddity to their simple lives, many of them had never seen a Jedi, albeit a retired one. It was in this town that he met Jera Srih who he fell deeply in love with.
Jera Srih wasn’t born on the Miralukan homeworld of Alpheridies, but on the agricultural planet of Nadiem. When Jera was young she was orphaned when her parents died of a terrible disease shortly after Jera’s birth. The locals raised her as one of their own and she grew up knowing little of the galaxy at large. She was naturally connected to the force but never visited by the Jedi never knowing anything more then the simple life on Nadiem. Jera’s connection to the force grew as she got older, it was so strong that at time she was able to see the future and was considered a prophet by the simple farmers, telling them of a flood when she was only ten years old that saved many lives, and warning them of a lean season so that they could save up enough food and supplies for the year. When the Rayce first met Jera she could sense his pain, loss and confusion and she feel in love with him as well.
Tem was born soon after Rayce and Jera were married and they lived a very simple and plain life on Nadeim; Rayce became a healer and worker while Jera continued leading the town with her predictions. The new family had one problem however, Tem was supersensitive to light, and when the modest healers on Nadiem could do nothing to correct it a local handyman fixed a set of goggles to separate the ultraviolet light, allowing the boy to see. Tem was force sensitive which was quickly noticed by his parents, Jera rejoiced and started teaching Tem to use the force, to see with it by taking off the goggles and blindfolding him. Rayce however was not so enthusiastic, but thanks to Nadiem’s remoteness the Jedi wouldn’t find them. Rayce was fervently against the idea of his son being a Jedi, he was still troubled by what had happened to him and his friend. One Jedi did know of Rayce’s whereabouts however, a Khil Jedi master by the name of Heldo Felnar, who Rayce had befriended during his time as a Jedi and was the only one that he had confided in before his abandonment of the Jedi.
Heldo would visit on occasion to talk to Rayce and see how he was doing, but these visits were few and far between. It was shortly before Tem’s fourth birthday when when his life would forever change. Heldo was visiting to catch up, having long given up trying to convince Rayce to let Tem be trained, when Thrak, Rayce’s fallen friend, arrived on Nadiem looking for revenge. He had survived their fight on Ossus and had spent the time tracking down Rayce, his anger and hate had consumed him, there was nothing left of Rayce’s friend, only the dark Jedi he had become.
Rayce felt a disturbance in the force while working in the fields, and headed to find his son and wife. Tem was at their home near the village, while Jera was with Heldo taking some crops to the Market in the next town. Rayce reached Tem just as Thrak did and the two Jedi battled, Thrak letting out his rage, Rayce protecting his son, but Thrak grown too strong for Rayce, and the father was cut down before Tem’s eyes, Rayce told Tem with his dying breath “There is no death, there is only the Force”. Thrak then readied to kill young boy, but Jera and Heldo had arrived just in time to save the boy, drawn by the disturbance in the force. Jera took up her husbands saber and with Heldo’s help, they defeated the Dark Jedi, cutting off his cybernetic arm, Thrak fled but vowed revenge. Jera looked at her scared son, and the body of her love, she was heartbroken, she wasn’t sure what to do. With Rayce gone, Jera hesitantly asked Heldo to take Tem to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to be trained as a Jedi, as he would be safer there. She made Heldo promise to watch over Tem and protect him, to which Heldo agreed and after a long goodbye, the Jedi Master and his new charge set out for Coruscant.
When Tem arrived at the temple, it took him some time to find his place in the Jedi Order, his age only making it more difficult for him and what thoughts he had were of his mother but the Jedi council realized his potential so he was accepted and began his training as a youngling. He was quick study, catching up to his peers shortly. Tem also displayed great potential in manipulating the force, especially his sense abilities and telekinesis. He was ahead of most of the class when it came to perception with the force. His saber technique however was lacking. He also struggled with to find confidence and belonging among the Jedi, his reclusive nature further hindered his acceptance. The other younglings didn’t particularly like him and while they didn’t dislike him either, some mocked him for his goggles that he used to see. This was only made further difficult by Heldo’s promotion to the Council which made his visits to Tem fewer and farther between. Tem was forced to grow out of his shell and make some acquaintances, which he did. He even started standing up for himself among the those that taunted him causing it to stop.
When Tem had just turned ten when he was chosen by a Jedi by the name of Keriolos, a Gran Jedi Councilor, who thought Tem’s force manipulation skills would make him a great Jedi. A few weeks after they met Keriolos was sent to Kashyyyk to help with a trade treaty, due to Keriolos's good relationship with Wookiees. While on the planet Keriolos suffered a heart attack and died.
Tem sank into a deep depression, he hadn’t had much time with Keriolos, but he still was sad that his master had died. He returned to training as the Council deliberated on what to do with the orphaned padawan. It was during these talks that Heldo decided to take on Tem as his padawan. Tem was overjoyed with the news and the two began training as soon as the council gave Heldo permission, but Heldo was a strict master, he worked Tem both mentally, with long hours in the archives and meditating, and physically, with a harsh daily training routine. Heldo was a sentinel as a knight and felt that Tem would benefit from a balance between saber and force use, so he would make Tem focus on his saber technique so it could rival his force understanding. Heldo realized that with Tem’s natural agility and athleticism that Ataru would fit him best, so he began teaching Tem the acrobatic lightsaber form.
They worked hard and it showed as Tem was beginning to excel in saber exercises along with his force skills. By the first mission the pair were assigned to, to settle a trade dispute on Corellia, Heldo felt confident in Tem’s ablity to fight alongside the master Jedi. When they arrived on Corellia, everything seemed fine, they met with representatives from both sides, hearing their arguments and then agreeing on a meeting between the two parties. When sides met at the appointed location, the civility ended there, they both argued until Heldo forced all present to take a break. When the break was over, all the delegates came back save one, and when they went to investigate, they found him dead. Heldo immediately ordered the security forces to lock down the building, and began interrogating the other delegates, Tem watched as they all told their version of the story. Tem grew more and more impatient with them until he threatened one delegate with his lightsaber. Heldo stopped him just as the delegate revealed that one of the body guards left the room before the break and didn’t return until after the other delegate was found dead. They attempted to capture this body guard, who turned out to be a bounty hunter, but he evaded them by going into the sewers, Heldo followed the bounty hunter while Tem was instructed to head him off. Tem did as instructed but grew impatient with waiting and entered the sewer to attempt to capture the bounty hunter himself, Tem did find the bounty hunter first and they fought, though the bounty hunter gained the upper hand and shot Tem in the arm. As Tem lay there, the bounty hunter readied to finish him off, but Tem called his fallen saber over with the force just in time to cut off the bounty hunter’s hand. Tem stood and readied to kill the bounty hunter but Heldo arrive just in time to stop Tem.
This whole ordeal had shown Tem to be too impulsive and hinted at a lingering anger inside of him. Heldo realized this and when they arrived on Coruscant, he told the Council that he would be taking a leave from his position to take Tem to Dantooine for training. The peaceful landscape of Dantooine would help focus Tem and they began learning there, at first just basic meditation practices, but then they moved on to an ancient fighting style known as Tai-Chi that focused on the importance of breathing and a calm mind. Tem excelled at the art and with time, learned to control his impulsiveness so much so that Heldo eventually started teaching him more advanced styles to complement Tai-Chi like Muay Thai. Over time Tem became a formidable fighter in his own right. Heldo also began to teach Tem Djem So, Heldo’s favored form in an attempt to give Tem a varied form to use with Ataru.
While on Dantooine, he met a Miralukan girl named Mirain Fel, she was a Padawan like him albeit a few years older and they bonded because of their shared heritage and enthusiasm of unarmed combat. They became friends and confidants during their time training together. When Mirian was injured during her trials Tem would regularly visit her and was always willing to help with her rehabilitation process. It was around this time that Tem started having dreams of a cloaked figure standing over a body, his red eyes glowing under the cloak, they were confined to sleep at first but eventually he began to see visions of this hooded figure while meditating. Tem had always been good when it came to “feeling” the force and this was not his first vision but it was by far the most fearful. Tem hid these fears at first but as the visions continued, he shared them with Mirian who advised him to talk to his master in hopes of determining the dream’s meaning. When Tem told Heldo of his troubling dreams however Heldo was dismissive, telling Tem to meditate and put the thoughts out of his mind but as Tem continued to probe Heldo told him of what he thought the dark figure in the dream could mean. Heldo told Tem about his father’s murder at the hands of a former friend and fellow Jedi. Heldo also stated that Thrak was never caught and that the dreams could be of the past, his father’s murder, the present, of Thrak’s current exploits, or of the future, that Tem might one day have to face the dark Jedi. Tem thought and meditated on all these possibilities but a deep seated anger began to rise within him at the thought of his father’s killer.
A few years after arriving on Dantooine, Heldo ended his leave of absence with the Council and began to participate with council sessions over hologram. Heldo also began taking missions again, ready to see how Tem would apply what he had learned there. The first missions were relatively easy, a few boarder disputes were the most difficult the pair encountered or the occasional ransom. Until a mission to Klatooine where Heldo and Tem were to find a lost dignitary that had gotten involved with a local Hutt. When they arrived they had reason to believe that he was taken off world, but before they could pursue they were captured by a local gang and transported to Nal Hutta. When they arrived they were separated, Heldo was taken to the Hutt that the gang worked for, while Tem was sent to the Hutt’s underground fighting facility. When Tem came to he was in a ring facing an angry and armed Codru-ji. Tem found that they had not only taken his saber but also his goggles leaving him virtually blind. Tem thought quickly and tore a makeshift blindfold off of his robes and thought back to his training and his time on Nadiem and using the force to see. It was not a fully developed skill but it allowed him to see well enough to face his opponent as they fought. Tem used Tai-chi and Muay Thai to fight his opponent, disarm him, and then bring him down but when he did he refused take the Codru-Ji’s life. It was just before that they were going to kill both of them that Heldo arrived with more Jedi to free Tem.
On another mission to Corellia Heldo and Tem were captured by a gang of bounty hunters. The pair were tortured for hours by the bounty hunters, it was during this time that Tem began to call on the force and he began to overcome the pain. Heldo noticed this and after the two escaped Heldo began to help Tem develop this skill. Tem learned that the skill was known as Crucitorn and that it allowed him to transcend outward pain through manipulation of the force.
When Tem was twenty-one the pair were sent on a mission to Sembla to deal with a gang of bounty hunters that were causing trouble with the local Vurk. When they arrived they went to confront the bounty hunters but as soon as they did they found that the bounty hunters were backed by a dark jedi who resided on the Planet of Raxus Prime. The pair left for Raxus Prime right away determined to stop the dark jedi from continuing his harassment of the planets populace. Once they arrived they found a wasteland of wreckage and filth. After exploring the area they found a large structure that seemed to be hideout of the dark jedi in question and were promptly attacked by the same dark jedi. It was then that they realized that the Dark Jedi was none other than Thrak Manssa, the killer of Tem’s father. Heldo and Tem began to fight Thrak but he quickly realized who Tem was and that he was Heldo’s padawan so he decided to take his revenge on Heldo for defeating him all those years ago. During the ensuing fight Thrak knocked Tem unconscious and when he came too, Heldo was gone. Only Thrak was there and told Tem that he had killed Heldo, just like he did Tem’s father all those years ago. Heldo was infact alive but busy fighting some of Thrak’s bounty hunter minions. They began to fight while Thrak taunted Tem, how easy it was to kill the people that Tem loved and how he would do the same to Tem but it was all just a ruse to try and turn the padawan.
Tem fought hard and his anger began to grow but he didn’t realize that Thrak was just playing with him. They fought for an hour before Tem’s anger was so great that Thrak knew he’d fall and Tem stuck out with his anger, gaining the upper hand on Thrak. As Thrak lay on the ground, Heldo caught up to them both and begged Tem to control his anger but Tem held Thrak on the ground with his saber. It was then that Tem finally realized why his father died, because he couldn’t kill his friend and Tem was filled with pity for Thrak. Thrak’s anger took over at the knowledge that Tem wouldn’t turn so he lashed out. Tem saw it coming however and in one fluid movement he cut off both of Thrak’s hands. Thrak lay on the ground, defeated by the pair. Tem and Heldo then left the planet with Thrak captive for Dantooine.
When the pair arrived on Dantooine they turned Thrak over to the enclave security while Heldo told Tem that they would be returning to Coruscant with Thrak, but they would be staying there for the foreseeable future. This troubled him as most of his friends were still on Dantooine like Mirian but after several goodbyes, the two set off for Coruscant. For a time Tem returned to his reclusive ways, spending most of his time training alone or meditating in his room. He did begin to open up again slowly as time passed, even making some new friends at the Coruscant Temple including Vreem Took, a leading instructor in the Temple.
During the time on Coruscant, Heldo informed Tem that he felt he was ready for the Trials and the two went before the council later that day. The council felt that he had passed the trials during his fight with Thrak and he was knighted.
After the knighting ceremony, Tem left the council chambers, but stayed in the area to wait for the session to end so he could talk to Heldo. When he saw the council members filing out he found Heldo and the two proceeded to the Room of a Thousand Fountains. Heldo was congratulating Tem while imparting wisdom about his new role as a keeper of the peace for the Republic, but when they arrived, Heldo’s demeanor changed slightly, he complained of headaches and bout of dizziness. After some time Tem convinced him to go to the healers, but before they reached them, Heldo collapsed. Tem and several other Jedi carried his unconscious body quickly to the healers only to learn that he had a stroke of sorts and as best as they could tell he would remain comatose indefinitely. The following day he was transferred to a clinic on Coruscant that specialized in comas and had some experience with his condition, but the prognosis remained the same. Tem would soon begin a ritual of going to see him almost daily telling him of the recent events and reading to him.
Some time after his knighting ceremony he began to look for things to do with his time. Aside from training he began to learn more about force sight, Djem So and Crucitorn, which he began to master. Tem also started taking missions again, but he would always be making his weekly visits to Heldo’s bedside. During the three years following his Knighting he took many missions, most investigatory, some descending to a fight, but most being quietly solved.
Tem is now twenty-eight and he is still a knight following the code as best as he can. He has long gotten over his shyness and makes friends of most people he meets. He has come to think of the Temple as a home, but still misses the grassy planes of Dantooine.
Roleplay Sample: Tem sat in deep meditation as several items floated around his room, one of them being his lightsaber. He had a small soldering tool in his right hand and his goggles in the other, they had been acting up ever since he got back from Hoth and he was determined to fix them himself. This would be difficult for sure, he never really worked on his goggles much and while he was generally good with electronics, it was always more difficult to do without being able to see. He knew what was wrong with them, it was the filter circuit on the left vision emitter.
He opened his mind to the force and allowed it to flood his senses. He then focused the force around him in his mind’s eye. He could now see the room around him in the force, it was always a peculiar experience, he could see the walls and his saber on its perch above his desk but it was more then just simple vision, he could see through the wall and the group of younglings walking right outside his room. He could almost see in 360 degrees in a sense but it was tough to distinguish one thing from another, just a basic knowledge of his surroundings.
He looks down at his goggles now through the force, focusing on the small components inside the goggles. Tem wasn’t sure if he could fix them correctly, his mind’s eye moving downward close to the goggles. He lifted the soldering tool and moved it slowly toward the tiny circuit board. For almost a minute he sat there doing nothing, waiting, then finally he touched the circuit for a second before pulling the tool away.
“I hope that worked…” he mumbles, picking up the goggles and putting them on. He then turned them on.
“They seem to be working…” he said then motioned his hand toward the lights, turning them on with the force. They slowly brightened but as they did he saw nothing but black in the left socket. “Wonderful Tem. You’ve managed to completely ruin them.” He said crossly. “Well, off to the workshop again.” He stood, removed the goggles, tied a blindfold around his eyes again and walked out the door.

Youngling Days
Padawan Years
When Tem had just turned ten when he was chosen by a Jedi by the name of Keriolos, a Gran Jedi Councilor, who thought Tem’s force manipulation skills would make him a great Jedi.
Knighthood and Loss
