My two cents: Jenno, why in the world did you take that so seriously? You threatened to ban him for calling you Mr. Richard- in a post that had no hostility read in it. Been having a bad day, or is there some background mincing between you two?

Great advertising guys! Precisely the mood we want to give new members. But for future reference, lets keep the arguing and jumping to conclusions to the RP. International strife is much more fun on the galactic scale and not in OOC chat. PMs (no pun intended) are available for a reason.

Back on topic, what can we as members do to advertise and increase activity?

Well my idea is that we should all start putting advertisement on other forums we are RPing. I have two more forums I am on, but unfortunately I can only advertise on one of them.

Don't get angry about this, but honestly I got myself completely lost in Plot forum, maybe that should be put in a bit more order.

In my defense, I would like to point out the '' at the end of my previous post. Okay, I was joking, and I did misinterpret Antonus it's true but I thought he was joking hence why I replied in such away. Now I see how it could seem harsh if it was looked at in a serious way opposed to the joking way which I saw it in.

Truth is, I don't get easily offended on the internet, sure when I get hurled a lot of unkindly words in regard to my person then I get a little hurt, who doesn't? But even if I thought this was serious I wouldn't have banned him, no way, I would have warned him immediately via pm, but I didn't.

So you can see this has completely been blown out of proportion due to two misunderstandings.

True this job is stressful, but I try not to show it, by doing these kind of jokes and stuff, to keep myself amused. But the most you guys need to worry about is me approving your profiles, trying to keep you all active and trying to get you all posting. This is just raising my worry level through the roof.

But I believe this has shown me that making 'banhammer' jokes is not the way to do so. I'll abstain from using that again.

Now, does anyone have any way of reaching Antonus? Anybody get his e-mail or IM? Because I really feel quite bad about this and want to clear it up as quickly as possible.

On the advertising topic, there are a few sites/directories out there which would be helpful to be on. So far I'm only on one www.rpg-directory.com and I'm currently filling out the application to have our site added there.

Often these kinds of sites require the admin to be the one to fill out the application, so if you find any directory like sites that require me to fill things in, then pm a link to the site.

And Oria is right, if you're on any other forums please type about a paragraph and then give them a link to the site. Also make sure they feel supported by giving them names of people they can pm if they're unsure of anything, maybe put an IM up there for them to contact. Heck, I don't care if it's mine you put up, but it'll help. So please, advertise wherever you can.

Banhammer jokes are never in good place, as they can be misinterpreted way to easily.

OFF THIS TOPIC AND ONTO THE OLD....

Advertising on mass media sights may be good as well. making a 'how to RP a jedi' video for youtube with the site advertised in it, promote the site in your Sigs on other forums, Advertise to RP guilds in Gaia online, use sketchpad to make a SW drawing, then put the URL at the bottom, Drawball the url all over the place, so on so forth.

Another way would be the google bomb, or for a youtube video: YT view fraud. These are very iffy and must be done by a person/persons that know exactly how to do it without getting their ass kicked. Neither is illegal, but both are questionable. (Just throwing ideas out here, not condoning this option)

More ideas would be to get your name out at Sci-fi/fantasy Conventions. I could throw the name out for a few, as I end up in the committee of a lot of high profile cons: World fantasy, Westercon, sci-fest, so on. A single flier at one of these cons may get a few eyes looking this way, and a few members as well.

If we make a guest friendly advertising board we might get a few places to use as advertising linking from us, plus we'll be allowed to link on a good many other boards which we couldn't before.

Unfortunately I'm not really able to lend to the recruitment drive I've asked those I know though few in number they are. So far none where interested. And I'm not in a RP forum any where else save for another SW forum that is just starting up.

In a week is a major Sci-fi fantasy con here, I'll spread the word at the starwars booth.
In a month is WORLDFATASY (whoo!) so I'll also spread the word there.

Couldn't afford to go to westercon this year, so I can't advertise there. Sorry mates.
