Previous Faction: Dark Jedi
Previous Rank: Acolyte
Bio:
Corran Dirak was born on the Core World planet of Corellia to a young couple of prison escapees hiding out in the Corellian mountains. Being paranoid criminals, they taught him as much as they could in the short time they had about the basics of hand-to-hand combat, though they hoped he would never need it.
Six years after Corran was born, the couple's hiding place was discovered by the government, so they fled the planet for the Outer Rim.
Eventually, they settled on Vjun. Unknown to them, their new home was just a few miles away from where a cult of Dark Jedi had formed. Days after their arrival, several of the Dark Jedi came, saying that Corran was strong in the Force, and that they were taking him to be trained. The parents refused. The Dark Jedi killed them and took Corran back to their academy.
The Academy had only 17 students, 3 Knights, and 6 Masters, all from every corner of the galaxy. They taught much like the Jedi Order, though without the restrictions the Jedi placed upon the younglings. They planned to grow until they could challenge the Jedi Order, even if it took centuries.
The Masters trained different classes, and each student would get shuffled around a dozen times between classes each day. They encouraged competition, though they did not allow students to kill each other. The Masters had discovered a technique which allowed the Academy to remain concealed through the Force from the Jedi, knowing that such a large group of Dark Side users would be hunted down.
Corran forgot his grief over his parents' loss as soon as he entered the Academy, though not his anger at the Dark Jedi for killing them. Following one of the first lessons the Dark Jedi taught him, he used his hatred to fuel his power.
Just after a few lessons in each class, Corran caught up to students much older than him who had been training for years. He could pick up objects and hurl them across the room with a single thought, jump great heights, and sense other people long before they entered the room.
When he was first given access to a training lightsaber, he excelled in that as well. After a few weeks, he had caught up and even surpassed some of the other students. This made other students very jealous of him. One of the other students, enraged that someone years younger than him was better, attacked Corran during the night. Corran fought back with his own lightsaber, eventually disarming his opponent and forcing him to surrender.
For a while after that, none of the other students bothered him. But eventually, one did. He attacked Corran at night, just like the one before him. But instead of only using a lightsaber, he taunted Corran by reminding him of how his parents had died. Corran became so enraged, that he channeled the Dark SIde through himself, and unleashed a huge storm of Force Lightning. The Masters had taught the students that technique only a few weeks before the incident, but through his rage, Corran demonstrated capability in that field better then any of the other students. The other student was killed by Corran's storm of lightning.
Nobody bothered him after that.
Corran was afraid that the Masters would punish him for killing another student, but as soon as they learned how he had done it, they didn't seem to mind. In fact, they seemed quite pleased.
After seven years of training, Corran was the best of all the Neophytes. He had dueled every other Neophyte at the academy and won. And soon he feared there was nothing else that the Masters could teach him. So he left the Academy, hiding out in the forests of the planet. During his exile, he discovered a cave filled with lightsaber crystals, and using the parts from his training lightsaber, built himself a real lightsaber.
Soon after building his lightsaber, he went to the nearest settlement, stole a ship, and left the planet. He knew from his studies that the Mandalorians would adopt almost anyone, and then train them in many forms of combat, so he headed to Mandalore, the homeworld of the Mandalorians.
When he arrived, he landed in the jungle, for he had arrived at night. As fate would have it, he happened to come upon a lone Mandalorian child undergoing his verd'goten. However, he was being attacked by a small band of mercenaries. Corran wondered why any non-Mando mercenaries would even try something as stupid as kidnap a 13-year old Mando on the Mandalorian homeplanet, of all places, but didn't really care why. It was his ticket into their culture. He used his blaster pistol to take out one of the thugs, a Weequay who was being the rear guard, and then stole his blaster carbine, and took out the rest from behind.
When the Mandos learned of this, they welcomed him into their culture and trained him. He was years behind other Mandos his age, but thanks to his secret connection to the Force, he caught up to them fairly quickly.
He already had a basic grasp of other types of combat besides lightsaber combat, and under the tutelage of the Mandalorians, those skills became even more honed and more deadly. He was remarkably skilled in hand-to-hand combat.
After about a year with the Mandos, he had a vision. It showed him that a great power was gathering at Korriban, the homeworld of the ancient Sith. So he gathered his few belongings in his Ministry-class shuttle and sneaked away to Korriban.

Corran pressed his macrobinoculars to his face, scanning the settlement. It wasn't too big, only a few blocks of houses and stores with a small spaceport on the far side. To protect the city and it's inhabitants from the acidic rain, a shield that kept water out surrounded the town.
The ship Corran planned to take was a rickety old Ministry-class shuttle that had belonged to one of the town's eldest inhabitants. That particular man had coincidentally died of natural causes a few weeks ago, so the ship just sat at the spaceport gathering dust. Nobody wanted to claim it, even though it was hyperspace-capable. But nobody would care, either, if it disappeared. It was perfect for Corran's needs. The last thing he needed was for someone to come looking for the ship he'd stolen and finding him on Mandalore.
Corran waited until it was dark, then leapt down from his perch in the tall tree he'd been hiding in. Calling upon the Force, he sprinted to the outer wall of the town built to protect them from any large predators, then leapt over the fence and through the shield. He found himself in a small, dark alleyway in between a small building and the wall. He peeked around the corner and found a mostly-deserted main road. A few landspeeders and people were still about.
Corran leapt up onto the roof of the small building, the tail of his dark cloak wildly dancing behind him. It was windy tonight. He leapt from rooftop to rooftop, until he came to another main road. He kneeled on the roof and pulled out his datapad. He only had to cross this road, make his way through another block of houses, cross one more main road, and he would find himself in the spaceport.
He tucked his datapad back into his pocket, then silently dropped to the street below. Sticking to the shadows, he snuck across the main road. He didn't sense the telltale alert, alarmed state of anyone, so he knew nobody had seen him, and he continued through more alleyways.
After a few minutes of running silently through the dark alleys, he heard a noise. He turned, and found himself staring into the dark hooded face of one of his former Masters from the Academy, Master Doran, a human. He was considered one of the weakest of the Masters, but that was still stronger then any of the Neophytes.
"Young Dalrak, what a surprise," he said quietly, though his tone implied that he wasn't surprised at all. "Have you enjoyed your vacation?"
Corran cleared his throat, pushing his fear aside, and gathering his hatred. Master Doran was the one who had cut Corran's parents down all those years ago. He now had a chance for his revenge, away from the watchful eyes of the other Masters.
"I'm not going back to the Academy, if that's what you're trying to get me to do, Doran," he said, his voice a bit shaky. He did not use the title 'Master' when he addressed Doran. He wasn't worthy to be Corran's Master.
Doran shook his head. "That's such a shame. You were one of our most promising students. I guess I'll have to end you here, then."
Before the last word was even out of Doran's mouth, he whipped out his lightsaber and lunged. Corran was barely able to get out his own, ignite it, and block Doran's blade. But then Doran's blade was swinging back, then coming back towards Corran from the side. Corran ducked, then stabbed at his former Master. Doran used his own blade to block. Corran backflipped out of the way of a blow meant to decapitate him, then readied himself again.
But instead of waiting for Doran to come to him and attack him with his lightsaber, Corran swung his own lightsaber back behind him, grinned, and threw it as hard as he could.
It twirled end-over-end, sailing through the air. Doran brought up his saber to deflect it, but it wasn't aiming for him.
The lightsaber sliced right through a heavy-duty electrical wire dangling from one house to the next, right above Doran. Sparking, the two ends fell, and one of them fell right into Doran.
Doran began spasming and screaming, then he slumped over.
Hearing sirens piercing the night, Corran quickly summoned his lightsaber and turned to leave, but stopped and used the Force to call Doran's lightsaber to his hand as well. He flipped the activator switch, but, not surprisingly, it didn't activate, so he used his own lightsaber to slice the hilt in half. He took the crystals out, tucked them in his pocket, then ran out of the alleyway, headed for the spaceport.
((I plan for him to go to Korriban and then actually RP him getting into the Sith... Or I could change the bio to have him go to another planet and then meet a Sith there who recruits him...))
