Time was... flowing oddly, in stops and starts, but eventually, the blaster gave out. She pulled the trigger, and it only coughed pitifully. Her arm dropped to the ground. So that was that. The eternal ferryman would get her before the Jawa did... except the Jawa didn't come. There was a squeak and a crunchy thud.
"What the Hell?"
It was a familiar voice, and a familiar face, and a familiar remark. Grizzelda rocked her head back against the tree and smirked at him. Or something of the sort... her vision was starting to go black in starry patches, like inverse fireworks that sucked the light out of the world.
"I was going to ask you why there's a Jawa twitching to death over there, but... look at you. By the nine Corellian Hells..."
"I's'a very long story," she slurred.
"Well, you're obviously not alright, so I'm not even going to ask. What's worst?"
"Sonnuvabitch made me lose my knife..."
"Right. Because those are far less replaceable than -- by the eternal, what happened to your arm?"
"Merely... a flesh wound." Huh... you didn't notice how many little parts there were to words until you had to prod and persuade your tongue into making them all... "I liked that knife..."
He sighed. Said some... other things. With the Jawa dead or gone, she became suddenly apathetic towards anything involving staying conscious. Weren't they always saying people didn't get enough sleep?
"Stay with me, Zelda," He said quite sharply.
"I've been with you before," scoff reduced to a mutter, "And you didn't exactly leave me eager for more..."
He was asking something about standing. "Course I can stand," she said. Though, this planet must have had something weird going on, because as soon as she got her feet under her, the ground kiltered at an odd angle and leapt towards her.
"Okay," he said, "Bad idea."
"'course, if you were more than half a man you could just carry me out of here... but..."
"Eternal, I can't even catch a break when you're half bled to death. 'course you manage to shoot someone in this state, what should I have expected."
"I'm just special that way," she said vaguely, strangely unbothered by the fact that, even with her eyes wide open, she couldn't see anything...
"Stupid's more like it," was his response, and it was the last the Grizzelda was properly aware of.
But she was alive, and that was more than something. It was everything.
