The day was starting to die on Korriban. A mix of blazing oranges and red filled the skies, with hints of pink opposite where the sun sat above the horizon. The rocky desert was giving up its heat; the air was already growing cool. It would be cold once the sun went down and the dark claimed the skies completely.
Nieraan didn't care about it, though. He wore a jacket, as always, and it would keep him warm enough. Not that cold or heat bothered him overmuch, unless they hit an extreme.
The Firrerreo was perched like a cat on the bottom of one of the columns on the outer colonnade at the Temple's main entrance. His mind drifted as he sat there, quietly basking in the dark power of the place the way a lizard basks in the warmth of the sun.
This day had been full of unexpected events, the least of which was the encounter with the younger Initiate in the Archives. At first Nieraan had only engaged in interaction with him to release some pent-up frustration. And now he'd be taking the boy under his wing. Sort of. That saying implied a more protective relationship than what Cadyren would be getting, but it was still a truth.
For a moment, he wondered what Silas might think of it. Old fart would probably get angry like he does at everything else. Nieraan sighed and shook his head.
He pulled his jacket's hood up over his head as a breeze stirred through the columns. He hoped the boy had taken time to eat and rest, for his own sake; Nieraan would be leading him out into the wilds, and they'd be gone for a while. It was the same sort of thing he'd been doing since he arrived on Korriban to keep his skills sharp. He had to, out in the wilderness; no one would come to save him if he fell.
Where is the little runt, anyway? There was still some time left before Nieraan would consider him late, but he was ready to go. Besides, he'd warned the boy not to be late. After what he'd put the Initiate through in the Archives, it should've been clear what would happen if he was.
"Still time," he muttered under his breath. So he leaned further back and waited.

Cadyren had gone to his room after meeting his new master, stripping down so that he could examine the damage he had already done to him. As Cadyren looked himself over he saw that his body was slightly burned, however as far as he could tell there wasn’t going to be any permanent damage. He was already starting to feel better as well, he could walk fine now without any trouble and his body wasn’t screaming in pain every time he moved.
He still hated the man for what he did to him, but Cadyren’s desire to become powerful overweighed his pride. He would learn under this man for now, but once he became strong enough he would destroy the man, and he would make sure it was painful too. Cadyren smiled at the idea of slowly crushing the man with the Force, or if the man taught him to he could electrocute him until his body was no more then a pile of burnt flesh.
With those happy thoughts Cadyren dressed himself in warm clothing, a thick white shirt and dark baggy pants. He then put on a black jacket, throwing the hood over his face as he left. He of course still had his Lightsaber with him, on his left hip so that he could easily reach it. He then exited his room and began heading towards the main entrance to the Temple.
It didn’t take long for Cadyren to make his way to the entrance, and he quickly spotted his new master, who was still unnamed to Cadyren. Cadyren was a few minutes early, but he wanted to make sure not to be late on his first day of training. He already had an idea on what failure would mean for him, and he assumed his master would punish him even for being a little late.
Cadyren hated the man, so much that even looking upon him made him angry. As much as Cadyren wished that someone else could have been his master, he knew that it would help him to learn under someone he hated. He wouldn’t have to bring back memories of the past to fuel his power in the dark side, his emotions would be ready to fuel him whenever he needed them.
“So master, what should I expect to learn today?” Cadyren asked, when he said the word master he said it as though he hated the title that had been bestowed upon this man, however other then that Cadyren managed to keep his voice calm.

Nieraan could feel the boy coming before he saw or heard him. So he really wants more, does he? He huffed a bit of a laugh. Persistence would serve the boy well. Very well, if he could keep it up. Especially considering the hard training Nieraan would put him through.
As he waited for the boy to make it to where he sat, Nieraan reached his senses back to probe at the boy. He certainly felt like he had made his mind up. And there was a spike of anger as he came within view of Nieraan. Good, Nieraan thought. Hate me, boy. Use it to make yourself strong. He smirked darkly under his hood. But you will not kill me. I learned the lessons my mother didn't.
“So master, what should I expect to learn today?”
Nieraan almost laughed at the way the boy twisted the word 'master' in his mouth. He'd done well to keep the hate out of the rest of his voice, but in that one word, there was so much distaste, so much hate...
For a long moment, Nieraan just sat there, staring off into the rocky wilderness around the Temple. Then he looked down at the boy and studied him silently. "You're going to learn how to stay alive."
That was all the answer he would give until they were out in the desert. He hopped down from his column, the three lightsabers on his belt tapping lightly against each other. "Follow me."
He'd lead Cadyren down the steps in front of the Temple and to a speeder that was waiting for them. They could walk, and Nieraan had thought about it, but he intended to take the boy out far, and they'd be gone for a while. Walking would just waste time. The speeder was a small two-seater. Nieraan had put a bit of food and water in the trunk, and reluctantly, a few medical supplies. He wasn't going to coddle the boy, but there wasn't any sense in seeing him killed or too injured to keep going, either. That would only slow training further.
Once they were in, Nieraan pulled his hood from his head and punched a code in to ignite the speeder's engines. Then they roared off into the rocky desert. For a while, Nieraan was silent, but he eventually looked over to Cadyren.
"So, boy, if I'm going to train you, I at least need to know some things about you. What's your name? How much do you know?"

“You’re going to learn to stay alive.”
That was all his master told him of his training. Cadyren watched as he jumped down from the column he had been sitting on, noticing for the first time that his master had three Lightsabers. Two of them looked remarkably similar, and Cadyren guessed that they were to be used together in combat. So that meant his master most likely used the sub form of Niman, Jar’Kai. Cadyren didn’t know why he would have the third saber however, unless it was a back up.
Cadyren followed his master to the speeder. It was a small craft, but he and his master would be able to fit inside it without being uncomfortable. Cadyren got into the speeder and waited for his master to turn on the engine, thinking about what type of training he might receive. Whatever it was, Cadyren knew it wouldn’t be easy. Cadyren’s master was a cruel man, so he expected that his training would be a painful experience.
For awhile the two drove in silence, Cadyren looking off to the side. Cadyren didn’t notice his master look over at him, but he did hear him speak. "So, boy, if I'm going to train you, I at least need to know some things about you. What's your name? How much do you know?"
Cadyren turned over to look at his master, “My name is Cadyren. I know the basics, however my ability to heal others or read their minds isn’t as good as it could be. My knowledge of using Dark Side powers is also limited. When I was a Jedi I was considered to be skilled in Telekinetics, however I’m sure that you’ve already formed your own opinion on my skills in that area.” Cadyren said, his voice began to show a hint of his anger once again, this time as he referred to when he had unsuccessfully threw his new master into a wall with the Force. When he next spoke, his voice was clam again, “As for Lightsaber combat, I am decently skilled in Shii-Cho, and I am somewhat skilled in Djem So and Shien.”
Hoping that his master was satisfied with his answer Cadyren turned away, looking out into the endless desert that was Korriban. He wondered how long they would be out training that day, he had no idea that his master intended for them to stay in the desert for awhile.

“My name is Cadyren. I know the basics, however my ability to heal others or read their minds isn’t as good as it could be. My knowledge of using Dark Side powers is also limited. When I was a Jedi I was considered to be skilled in Telekinetics, however I’m sure that you’ve already formed your own opinion on my skills in that area.”
Nieraan acknowledged Cadyren's answer with an offhanded grunt. So this boy had been a Jedi once, had he? Maybe that was why Cadyren, even if he was clearly touched by the dark, didn't seem as dark as some other Initiates in the Temple. That was interesting, but not completely unexpected; several of the Sith that roamed the Temple's stony halls had been Jedi at one point or another. Nieraan had never set foot in the Jedi Temple, but even he was touched by their reach; he was born out of their failure of a code.
Nieraan chuckled softly. Cadyren's temper was showing again, in words and in the Force. "Y'know, for a boy that seems so calm, you've got a bit of a temper." That could be put to use. It would have to be put to use.
“As for Lightsaber combat, I am decently skilled in Shii-Cho, and I am somewhat skilled in Djem So and Shien.”
Again, Nieraan gave a soft grunt. Shii-cho, he knew. Everyone knew Shii-cho, with it being the foundation of all the other forms. Djem So and Shien, though, he didn't. He knew a bit of them, but more on how to counter them than to actually use them in combat.
For another long moment, silence hung over the speeder as Nieraan took them further out into the desert. There was a ravine up ahead, near an old rocky mountain that sometimes leaked smoke into the sky. That was where they'd go. The ravine held the entrance to an ancient, winding cavern system. Deep within the caves was an old crypt that had once been home to some dead Sith or Dark Jedi. Treasure hunters or even members of the current Sith Order had long picked it dry. The Dark still lingered there however, and it lingered strongly.
"My name is Nieraan," he said finally. He could make out the outline of the mountain against the darkening skies far off in the distance. That meant the ravine was nearer, but they still had a ways to go. "I can teach you many things, boy. I am strong in many things. But I cannot teach you Shien or Djem So. They aren't styles that suit me. I will continue your Shii-Cho, training, though. I can teach you Niman, I can teach you Jar'kai, or how to fight with a double-bladed lightsaber, but that is it."
Nieraan sighed softly and looked at the boy from the corner of an eye. "How well can you fight without a weapon, boy?"

Cadyren simply nodded when his master pointed out that he had a temper. He didn’t really believe that he was correct, but he didn’t feel like arguing either. Cadyren felt that he had more self control then most Sith, and that he wasn’t as easy to anger, it was just that it infuriated him when he failed, especially when others knew about it. His master had embarrassed him by showing the other initiates that he was weak, and for that he hated the man. He knew that every time he saw his master he would remember the moment that they met, and the anger would come with it. So he wouldn’t argue that he had a temper, because whenever he was around his master he would have one.
Cadyren went on to tell his master about his Lightsaber skills, remaining calm this time. His master gave him a grunt, but nothing more. Again the two were silent, and that was when Cadyren turned away, looking at the desert as they drove through it. It was getting starting to get very dark, but Cadyren could still see well enough. He didn’t see the mountain or ravine however, not until he felt the Dark Side taint that came from somewhere in front of the speeder. It wasn’t close, but it wasn’t far away either.
Cadyren turned toward the direction of the taint, leaning forward to try and see where it came from. It was so dark that Cadyren could only make out the silhouette of a mountain. He wondered if that was where they were headed, if there was some old temple or tomb inside the temple that his master wanted to go to.
As Cadyren gazed at the mountain, his master began speaking again, and Cadyren finally learned his name. It was Nieraan. Cadyren turned to him, and listened as he said that he would be able to teach Cadyren many things, that he knew many things. He didn’t knew Shien or Djem So however, so Cadyren wouldn’t be learning anything about that form from Nieraan. He would have to either give up on learning the form or practice it on his own. Nierran could teach him how to use Niman, Jar’Kai, or to use a double bladed Lightsaber.
Cadyren had never sued two Lightsabers before, or a double bladed one. Both of Cadyren’s previous masters, his Jedi Master Hett and his first Sith Master Grawn, had been users of Jar’kai as well, though neither had ever taught him to use the form. I might as well learn the form, seeing as every one of my masters used it, even this one. Cadyren thought. He wondered what his second Lightsaber would look like. It would probably look like Cadyren’s first, assuming he got to make it himself and had enough parts available to him.
Nieraan then asked Cadyren if he was good at fighting without a weapon, “Unarmed combat? It’s not something I’m very skilled in. When I was a youngling I wasn’t too bad at it, but for the past eight years I’ve only been taught how to use the Force and wield a Lightsaber.” Cadyren responded.

Nieraan grunted again at Cadyren's answer. So the boy had been given some training in how to fight without a weapon, and then none for eight years. Maybe it was just his upbringing that made him think whoever had trained the kid must have been a moron. "Leave it to the Jedi..." He muttered. So he already had his work cut out for him. What was one more thing?
"That's something else you'll learn," he said, as he eased the speeder to the side to avoid a large rock spire that rose out of the desert ahead of them like some great, gnarled, rocky finger. "Can't always count on having a lightsaber. But you always have your body, boy. You'll learn to use it. And you'll start tonight. Among the other things you'll be starting on." That was something else that would very likely be unpleasant for Cadyren. Easy roads were often the ones that went nowhere, though; the Jedi were right about that, at least.
Nieraan was quiet for the rest of the trip. It took a while to get to the ravine, and by the time they hit it, the skies were completely dark. The speeder's headlight kicked on automatically, but the arc of light they provided was small, insignificant for navigating a ravine. Nieraan didn't need them, though. The Force gave sight as easily as it gave power, and as he guided them along, he saw through the Force, rather than with his natural vision.
After flying through the ravine for a while, he took them down the bottom of it and began to decelerate. The mountain loomed overhead, dark and foreboding, and he could already feel the taint of the tomb in the Force.
He brought the speeder to a stop in the wide mouth of the cace and keyed the ignition code to cut the engine. He got out and pulled his hood back up onto his head now that he was out of the cover of the speeder's canopy. He walked around to the small trunk and opened in. A small box of glowrods was in the back. There were four; more than enough, considering what he'd found in the tomb the last few times he'd been there. But the boy would need light, and they still had a trek through the caves to get to it.
The glowrod came alive with a simple twist of its bottom, casting a pale blue-ish light in a circle a few meters in diameter. "Catch," Nieraan said right before he tossed it to Cadyren. He repeated the process for his own and clipped it to his belt. He grabbed on bag--medical supplies in case there were needed--and slung it over his shoulder. The other, which held a bit of food and water, got tossed to Cadyren. Nieraan closed the trunk, checked to be sure the speeder was locked and started to walk into the caves.
"Come on, boy. Still got a walk ahead of us."

Hand to hand combat training was not something Cadyren would be looking forward too. He knew there may be times when he is without his Lightsaber, but he would almost always have the Force on his side. While he could see hand to hand combat being useful, he didn’t think it would be something he needed a lot of training in. He thought about saying something about it to Nieraan, but he was the master, and it wasn’t really something worth arguing over. He wasn’t some brat that complained about every little thing that he didn’t like.
Once again the two Sith went silent, the only sound being that of the repulser lifts as they carried them forward. Eventually they came to a ravine, and Cadyren realized that they weren’t heading towards the mountain. The lights on the speeder kicked in, but the light didn’t travel far. It was still difficult to see what was ahead of them. In spite of this however, Nieraan managed to navigate through the ravine without difficulty.
The ravine seemed to head towards the mountain, contradictory to what Cadyren had originally thought. So they still might be heading towards the mountain. It began to loom over then as they traveled farther into the ravine. Mountains were somewhat foreign geographical features to Cadyren. Having lived in Tatooine as a child and for a time after he left the Jedi Order, he was sued to even terrain where he could see ahead of him some kilometers. The closest thing to a mountain that Cadyren had ever seen was the skyscrapers in Coruscant and most of the Core Worlds.
Eventually they came to the stop at the mouth of a cave, which seemed to be the source of the Dark Side taint in the area. As the speeder’s engine cut off Cadyren got out of the vehicle, looking into the gaping maw of the cave. He stared into it for a few moments, curious as to what awaited him within.
He heard his master call out catch from behind him, and Cadyren turned just in time to catch the blue glow rod with his hand. Mimicking his master, Cadyren clipped it onto his belt, on his right hip so that it wouldn’t get in the way should he try to grab his Lightsaber. He then looked backed towards Nieraan, who was pulling bags out of the trunk of the speeder. So we are staying here awhile.. Cadyren thought as he walked to the back of the speeder.
His master threw him one of the bags, and Cadyren quickly slung it over his shoulder. He waited for Nieraan to close the trunk and lock up the speeder, then followed him into the caves. He stopped for a mere moment at the foot of the cave, wondering what sort of torture his master would put him through during his training. Whatever it is, you’ll just have to endure. Most other initiates don’t get the chance to become the apprentices, so you’ll just have to deal with the master you’ve got, no matter how brutal his training will be. Cadyren thought, before continuing his walk into the dark cave after his master.

{Gonna take a few liberties at the end, just to keep moving things along. If you have any problems, just shoot me a PM}
With the preparations made, Nieraan began to head into the cave, knowing the boy would follow. What choice did he have? He hadn't been told the code need to start the speeder, and as far a Nieraan knew, he didn't know the terrain well enough to make it out of the ravine, let alone back to the Temple.
So, for all intents and purposes, Cadyren was stuck out with Nieraan, with nowhere else to go. It was partly by design. Nieraan planned to push the boy hard while they were out here, and if he chose to try to get away, well let him. Korriban was an unforgiving mistress. Of course, Nieraan believed that if the boy was as stubborn as he'd proven to be so far, he'd see it through. He might hate it, he might hate Nieraan for it, but he'd grow stronger for it.
Nieraan let his hold on Force Sight go as they walked further into the depths of the old cave. It was near pitch black outside of the circle of light their glow rods cast, but he knew the route to the crypt after travelling there on his own so many times. That was why he wasn't heading toward it--not directly. He had plans to begin Cadyren's training long before they got to that long forgotten place.
Instead, he took a turn at one of the branching paths along the way to lead Cadyren elsewhere. The cave was dark, and as they kept moving deeper, Nieraan could feel it growing a bit warmer from the warmth of the magma that lurked below the nearby mountain. He was used to the warmth; it'd grow a little warmer, but hardly unbearably so.
There was within the caves. Most of the creatures avoided the two Sith, but Nieraan could feel the echoes they created in the Force. Up ahead, he could feel several echoes. That was good. It meant his plan for Cadyren would still work.
"Stop," he said a few minute later, when they came to what looked to be a turn in the path. On one side, the wall turned along with the path they'd been following. On the other, there was a drop. It looked deep, here in the dark, but it was quite makeable, especially for a Force sensitive.
Nieraan set his bag down on the ground, his glow rod making the around them cast shadows that looked like the pointed teeth of some vicious beast. "Set your bag down and come to me."
As he waited for Cadyren to do so, he glanced down at the drop below them. It was a pit, sunken in by some natural process a long time ago. He could feel life within, but it wasn't constant; it came in faint flickers here and there--here and suddenly gone again, as if it had never been there.
"Your training starts here, boy," he said to Cadyren as he slowly started to circle around behind him. "I told you that you were going to learn how to survive." A cold, dangerous smirk touched his mouth as he stopped near the boy. Then he reached out with the Force and shoved him toward the pit.
When the boy landed in the bottom, he'd be greeted by a distinct hissing noise. Nieraan crouched down, watching through the Force again as several Hssiss began to make their presence known, giving threats to the Human that dared to intrude into their nest.
Nieraan reached out through the Force and tossed an egg against the rock. It shattered. That didn't make them happy.
"Survive, boy," he called to Cadyren, laughing coldly. "Survive if you think you're worth what learning what I have to teach you." He'd save the boy if he got in too much trouble, but he wasn't going to tell Cadyren that.
"And do try not to let them bit you. Nasty poison."

Cadyren followed Nieraan through the caves, the only light being the two blue glow rods attached to the belts of the two Sith. Cadyren could sense he Dark Side throughout the place, but there seemed to be whispers of other things as well, perhaps creatures that lived within the tomb? Cadyren tried to locate what these anomalies were, but he couldn’t find the location of them, the power of the tomb might as well of masked their presence from him.
At first Cadyren thought that they would be walking straight down, but then Nieraan made a turn off into a branching tunnel. So either he’s been here before, or he’s sensed something. Cadyren thought. He figured it was the former seeing as his master had driven straight to the place without having to search for it. It could have been both as well, maybe Nieraan had sensed something odd and wanted to investigate. Cadyren figured that it wasn’t that however, and that there was some room or something where Cadyren would be trained for now.
It got warmer as they walked. It wasn’t unbearable, but Cadyren did unzip his jacket so that he wouldn’t get to hot. As they walked Cadyren could sense something up ahead, one of the anomalies he had sensed earlier. They were strange, one minute Cadyren could sense a presence in the Force, the next he felt sensed nothing. He wondered what it was they were heading to, when Nieraan told him to stop. They were at a turn in the path, with the path turning to one side and a pit to the other. It was from the pit that Cadyren occasionally sensed something. He now could tell that it was indeed some type of creature, now that he was close enough.
The drop seemed to be large, but that was partly because Cadyren couldn’t see to the bottom, reaching out with his senses, Cadyren felt his way to the bottom of the drop, realizing that the fall wouldn’t be that bad if he were to jump down it. Nieraan was near the drop, and told Cadyren to come over to him after he put down his bag. Cadyren lightly dropped the bag on the ground, and then walked towards his master. He thought that maybe there was something in the pit his master wanted to show him, perhaps the creatures in there. When his master began to move behind him was when Cadyren started to realize that his master wasn’t just planning to show him something. Cadyren tried to turn around, only catching a glimpse of Nieraan’s smirk before he threw him into the pit.
For a moment Cadyren was disoriented, not sure which direction was up and which one down. He did manage to right himself before he hit the ground however, and landed on his feet. The first thing he noticed was a strange hissing sound coming from somewhere in front of him. The next was the appearance of large lizards walking towards him. Cadyren couldn’t tell if it was just the dim lighting, but the creatures appeared very menacing. Cursing Nieraan under his breath, Cadyren took a second to look back up to where he had fallen in, trying to see if he could make the jump back up. It would be difficult but he could. Cadyren could see Nieraan on the edge of the pit watching, the blue light of his glow rod making him easy to find.
Something flew from near Nieraan, and Cadyren could hear the sound of something cracking near by, followed by a more aggressive hiss then the ones he had heard before. Should have expected this from you. Now I have to survive this, if for nothing else then so that one day I can kill you 'master'. Cadyren thought as he turned back to the beasts, unclipping his Lightsaber from his belt. There was no way he was going to be able to gather his power to make the jump while the creatures were about to attack him, he would have to finish kill them first. As his blade extended from the hilt with a snap-hiss, the dark green blade further illuminating the pit, he heard his master give him some ‘advice’. None of it really helped him, until his master said that the creatures were poisonous. “I hate you.” Cadyren thought, this time out loud. He had no idea if Nieraan heard him or not, and he really didn’t care either.
The creatures began to advance towards Cadyren, and he wondered how he would fight so many of the large creatures. He doubted that his skill with Telekinesis would help him much here, they were much to large for him to simply throw them around and separate them, so that he could deal with them individually. He would have to slay them with his Lightsaber, which he would be absolutely fine with it wasn’t for the fact that he had to worry about being poisoned.
He decided that Shien would work best in this situation. He knew that it was mostly used for blasters, but it was his only form that focused on fighting more then one being at a time. Shii-Cho and Djem-So would have worked just fine as well, but he was worried that if he sued them he would be too focused on one of the lizards and one of the others would attack him from behind or the side. Getting into Shien’s opening stance, Cadyren began to draw upon the power of the Dark Side, preparing for the coming battle.

"I hate you."
Oh, Nieraan heard the boy say that. He grinned as Cadyren's green saber flared to life, illuminating the furious Hssiss that gathered around him. "Good," he called. "But you don't know the meaning of the word hate, boy. Not yet." But by the time the night was done, Cadyren very well may. Nieraan would make Cadyren work hard for the strength he wanted, and even then, attaining that strength would not be an easy thing for him to do.
"Though," he said, shifting his weight to the side slightly so he could lazily lounge as he watched Cadyren's test, "I think those Hssiss hate you more than you think you hate me." He snorted a laugh, as mocking and cruel as any other the boy had heard from him so far. "What a bastard thing to do, breaking their eggs like that. You oughtta be ashamed of yourself."
The Hssis were indeed angry. They hissed at Cadyren; it was a low his that came from deep within them, sounding nearly like a rumble. Nieraan smirked, eager to see the show, to see how the boy performed. In all honesty, even though there were several of the beast, he should have been able to take them if he had any decent head on his shoulders.
The real trick would be doing it without letting one of them bite him. Their poison was nasty. Treatable with supplies--supplies Nieraan had in one of the sacks--but nasty.
The Hississ started to move on the boy. Nieraan sat up a little bit. Let's see how he does.
One of the beasts wavered into vision on Cadyren's left. As the other slowly started to approach him, it merely stood there, watching. And then it lunged. Thick strands of spit draped between its teeth as its jaws opened wide, snapping for Cadyren's neck.
And then the others began to come at him. Slow at first, one at a time, but soon they'd begin to attack in numbers.
"Survive boy!"
{Ok, kinda crappy post >_> sorry about that}

It seemed that Nieraan had heard Cadyren’s remark, because he heard the man say that he didn’t yet no the meaning of the word. Cadyren shook his head, his master was wrong. Cadyren knew hate, his brother had shown him what it was a long time ago. He may not have hated this man as much as he hated his brother, but Cadyren knew that he hated him as well. Cadyren hadn’t even known the man for twenty four hours and while the man had taken him as his apprentice, he had tortured and humiliated him since their first meeting.
Not to mention his master had just thrown him into a pit full of dangerous creatures, had made them want to tear him limb from limb, and was now laughing about it. Cadyren definitely hated the man, but if his master kept it up at this rate Cadyren might one day hate him as much as he hated his brother. That didn’t matter though, at least not now anyway. He had to focus on killing these monsters right now.
The creatures continued to hiss as one of them moved closer to Cadyren, approaching from his left. Cadyren kept an eye on the creature as it approached, but he also wanted to make sure that another one didn’t try to sneak up on him while this one distracted him. He didn’t know how these creatures behaved, if they hunted in packs or if they did it alone. This was very important, because if they hunted alone they would have trouble working together to kill Cadyren, but if they hunted in packs then Cadyren would have to worry about them implementing some hunting tactic they had developed as they evolved that might catch him off guard.
The beast stopped a short distance from Cadyren, and for a moment Cadyren thought it would decide he wasn’t worth fighting and go away. Unfortunately it didn’t, and it leapt through the air, its jaws open and ready to rip his throat out. The green blade of Cadyren’s Lightsaber sliced through the air and the beasts head landed at Cadyren’s feet. The rest of the beast landed a little off to Cadyren’s left, the flesh of what was left of its neck cauterized by the plasma blade.
Then the rest of the beasts began to attack. Another creature came at Cadyren from the right, this one charging straight at him. It lunged towards him with its claws outstretched towards him. Cadyren quickly cut off the outstretched claw, and the beast let out a screech of pain. Cadyren took a step to his right to avoid the body of the creature as its momentum carried it past him. It let out another cry of pain as it landed on the ground, which quickly ended as Cadyren stabbed his Lightsaber into the creature’s side.
Removing the blade from the creature, Cadyren could feel his adrenaline pumping through his veins. Turning back to the other creatures a smile played across Cadyren’s face. These beasts would be no match for him, already he had slain two of them and with no difficulty at all. Feeling the power of the Dark Side flow through him, Cadyren advanced towards the other creatures. He thought nothing of tactics or battle plans, only how great it would feel to defeat these creatures, to show them that they were not match for him.
Two of the creatures began moving towards the advancing Sith, going to either side of him. Cadyren wasted no time in killing them, leaping forward to kill the one on his left by stabbing his Lightsaber through its neck and exiting through its stomach. He then heard the sound of the other one picking up its pace, trying to attack him from behind. Cadyren dropped to the ground as he spun around, raising his Lightsaber in front of him. The creature flew over Cadyren’s head, barely missing him with its claws. Cadyren cut the creature in half as it traveled over him, both pieces of the creature landing on the ground with a loud thud. Cadyren the got back on his feet, this time giving out a chuckle as he began to advance again. He reached out with the Force to try and sense just how many of the creatures there were in the pit, but they kept trying to hide their presence from him, making it almost impossible. No matter. Cadyren thought to himself, he would just have to slay all of the beasts to find out just how many of them there were.

Nieraan watched the battle unfold from his perch, like a ruler of old watching his slaves fight in a gladiatorial arena. It was certainly as entertaining, and more than that, insightful. He wouldn't deny that he'd partially pushed Cadyren into the Hssiss nest for kicks, but there was something for both of them to gain here.
Cadyren would have to show he could fight under pressure, when his life was on the life. And Nieraan would better see how the boy responded to the situation, how he held up against enemies he couldn't sense and could barely see. It was a cruel way to gauge a student, perhaps, but there was a reason and a rhyme to Nieraan's methods.
Besides, he'd warned the boy that he would be a hard teacher. He hadn't been lying.
But Cadyren was doing well enough so far. The beasts were coming at him one at a time, and whether it was by design or the collective stupidity of the Hssiss, Nieraan couldn't tell.
Oh, there they go, trying to circle wide. He watched with a casual sort of amusement as Cadyren leapt onto one, shoved his lightsaber into the creature's back, and then moved on to deal with the next threat.
An angry hissing filled the pit as the rest of the creatures started to circle Cadyren. Now they were mad; their eyes almost seemed to glow like red, angry coals. Air blasted loudly through their nostrils as they circled like wolves around their prey.
"You might have a spot of worth to you after all, boy," Nieraan said, voice distant and vaguely uninterested. "But you've pissed 'em off more now." He laughed a soft, snorting kind of laugh. "As if breaking just one of their eggs hadn't been enough..." More eggs had been crushed in the fray, often by the bodies of the dead and dying lizards as momentum from their charges carried them forward. The nest was starting to reek of death. "You're just some muder-crazy bastard, aren't you? I'd wanna rip your damn throat out if I was one'a them.
"Make sure that doesn't happen, why don't you? Hate to have to leave you hear to rot. Or get eaten." One of the Hssiss became invisible as Nieraan spoke. Then another did, behind Cadyren. That left one that remained visible. It was huge, even compared to the others; three meters tall at the shoulder and at least eight long. Great, hard slabs of muscle rippled beneath its scales as it paced around Cadyren.
Must be the leader, Nieraan mused silently. Strongest male of the group. He sat up a bit, watching to see what happened. Even he couldn't see the two cloaked Hssiss, not with them cloaked in the Force as they were. But there were other signs to go by; the soft crunch of the dirt beneath their feet, the outlines of footprints being pressed into the ground. Though the last would be harder to pick out from Cadyren's position, admittedly. But the signs were there, if the boy had a mind to look for and see them.
The massive Hississ stopped in front of Cadyren. A growl rumbled from deep within its throat as it turned to face him, to study him with those glaring red eyes. Then it roared.
The other two Hississ were moving; Nieraan could hear the sounds of movement. Then there they were, not more than a leap's distance away from the boy, and running full tilt. So they can work together... "Interesting."
As the two smaller Hssiss lunged at Cadyren, the big one gave a loud, snort and started to run at him. They wanted blood.
Tonight, they wanted to feast on the flesh of the boy who'd invaded their domain.

Cadyren stopped as his master began talking again, telling him that he might have a spot of worth and that the Hssiss hated him even more now, seeing as he had killed more of them and had also accidentally crushed more of their eggs. Nieraan then told him not to get killed, that he would hate to have to leave his body there to rot or get eaten. He’d probably laugh, heck I wouldn’t be surprised if he took me down here so he could sit back and watch as these beasts tore me apart. Cadyren thought as three more beasts came into view. Two of them were nothing special; they seed just as large as the others. Cadyren could take them easily enough.
The third one however, was gigantic, standing at 3 meters tall. He wondered if it was the Alpha of the group of creatures, but that didn’t matter though. He still had his Lightsaber, so he would be able to slay all three of the creatures with ease. He was completely sure that he would be able to slaughter these creatures until the two smaller ones, which had begun to circle around him, became invisible to Cadyren, both visibly and in the Force, “Shit.” Cadyren said as he looked around him, trying to find some way of seeing the two creatures. His first thought was to look at the ground to see their footsteps, but even with his Lightsaber active and the glow rob it was still difficult for him to see.
Well this is just great, and I was just starting to think this would be easy. Cadyren thought as he tried to come up with a plan to find and kill the two beasts before they or the larger beast attacked. For a moment panic stuck Cadyren, how could he defeat creatures he couldn’t see or even sense with the Force? No I can do this, I just have to think. Cadyren’s mind rose as he tried to come up with a plan that would allow him to detect the beasts. A plan came to him quickly, it wasn’t the best plan, and in fact Cadyren thought it was pretty stupid.
Calling out to the Force, Cadyren lifted some sand into the air from the ground around him. It wasn’t an impressive amount of sand, but it was enough. Flicking his wrist the sand flew off to his right, spreading out a little bit as they traveled, but not enough that Cadyren couldn’t see them. He watched as they flew, waiting for anything unusual to happen to them. He watched a clump of sand seemed to halt in midair for a moment as though it had hit something, and then fell to the ground. Cadyren moved quickly, charging towards the spot then lunging outward with his Lightsaber. He heard a cry of pain as the creature became visible, and Cadyren saw that he had stabbed the creature at the base of its tail, not enough to kill the beast but he had hurt it.
Cadyren removed his Lightsaber from the beasts tail as it turned around, raising itself on its hind legs so that it could take a swipe at his face with its claws. Cadyren ducked under the blow, barely avoiding getting a cut across his face, then brought his Lightsaber upward, stabbing into the creature’s chest. He stepped to the side as the body fell, turning towards the larger beast as it charged towards him. He raised his Lightsaber in front of him, ready to step to the side and strike down the beast. That was, until he heard the sound of another beast running towards him.
Cadyren had not forgotten that there was another beast, but he had not expected it to attack him while the larger one charged. He had not expected the creatures to work so well together, and he was going to pay for it. The beats lunged at him, and while Cadyren did manage to avoid being bitten, the creature slammed into him, and his Lightsaber was knocked out of his hand as he hit the ground, landing less then a meter away form the beast that had tackled him.
As the blade was extinguished the pit became much darker, with only Cadyren’s glow rod lighting up the area around him. As he got to his feet Cadyren looked desperately for his Lightsaber, the larger creature was still charging and would be on him in moments. The other creature was also moving towards him again, but at a slower pace. Both of them would reach him in seconds. His first instinct was to run, to try and escape these creatures, but Cadyren quickly threw these thoughts out of his mind, he could still beat the creatures, he just had to think. Knowing that he wouldn’t be able to find his Lightsaber in time Cadyren reached out with the Force and picked up one of the last remaining eggs, then threw it straight at the larger beasts face.
It hit the creature in the face, and while Cadyren had no idea if the beast was hurt, it was blinded temporarily by the yoke of the egg. The smaller one began to pick up its pace now, preparing to leap towards Cadyren in an attempt to finish him. Cadyren took a step back to get some distance as he began to call upon the Force, ready try and trip the creature with the Force before it got to close. He felt his foot hit against a small object however, and looked down behind him. To his surprise Cadyren saw his Lightsaber, lying on ground next to his foot. The Lightsaber then flew to the ground and into his hand, its green blade igniting once more. The creature did not stop advancing however, and quickly met its end as Cadyren took a step to the side and stabbed his Lightsaber into the creature’s neck, cutting a circle into the creatures flesh to make sure that he hit as many vital organs as he could.
He then took his Lightsaber out of the creature and looked towards the larger beast, taking a couple of deep breathes. He had slain six of the creatures now, and he had to admit that he was somewhat tired. All that remained, hopefully, was the largest of the beasts. It wouldn’t be too hard, but if Cadyren wasn’t careful there was a chance that he could get bitten or the beast might try to knock him off his feet and make him drop his Lightsaber again. Then he would be in trouble. The creature had some how managed to get the yoke off of its face while Cadyren was dealing with the other beast, whether by rubbing it off against a rock or by using his claws Cadyren didn’t know.
Cadyren stepped away from the corpse of the beast he had just slain, trying to get into as open an area as he could, so that he would be able to dodge the large beast when it attacked him. His eyes stayed on the creature, but using the Force Cadyren attempted to scan the room for more life, just to be sure that he wouldn’t be snuck up on again. He could sense the large creature in front of him, which in spite of not being sentient was strong in the Force. Interesting, I will have to look through the Archives some time to find out what exactly these creatures are. Cadyren thought as he continued to search, knowing that there was a chance that he wouldn’t be able to sense the creature at all if there were more. He had to try though, just to be safe.

The boy was clever. That was good. Means he might last more than a single exchange in his first real fight. Maybe. Fighting a fully sentient being was an entirely different thing than beasts like a Hssiss, as formidable as they were.
But there were things to be gained from this. And Nieraan watched carefully.
As expected, they all charged Cadyren again. But he took the initiative this time, and found one with a nice use of some of the sand that lined the pit. One beast fell.
But then the other came, barreling into him and knocking his saber free from his hand. Nieraan lifted a brow slighlty. He could see the weapon, watching through the Force as he was, but could the boy? And if he didn't, how would he react?
Oh, he is clever.
Nieraan chuckled darkly as he watched Cadyren pick up an egg and use it to distract the beast. Blinded by the remains of its offspring, the best feel back, and Cadyren made time for himself.
The next one was dealt with in order, and that left one. The largest of them all, the patriarch of their group. Nieraan could feel the rage coursing through the beast in the Force. With it still distracted, he stood up, thinking that their business at the pit would be finished soon enough. But instead, Cadyren backed away. Nieraan frowned. The Hssiss wasn't yet at full capacity again; the egg on its face had disoriented it. Cadyren could've offed it then, but he didn't. He waited for it to attack.
That was something they'd have to discuss later.
Now there was nothing left. Just the boy and just the big Hssiss, which was prowling, watching Cadyren silently. Dangerously.
"Come on boy," Nieraan said, sounding annoyed. "Kill the damn thing!"
As if stirred on by his words, the big Hssiss started to move. It lunged forward a bit, then roared loudly. Spittle flew from its teeth and tongue at Cadyren as it gave a final defiant challenge. And then it cloaked. The problem was that a creature as large as it was moving as quickly as it was tended to make noise. Nieraan could hear it thudding around, could see the marks the beast's feet left in the sand. But it still charged at Cadyren, if from a different side this time.
When it got close enough, it leapt at him, and the cloak fell, less than a meter away from the boy.
Nieraan hoped for the boy's sake that he'd been staying on his toes.

(Sorry it has taken me so long to post, my computer has been messing up for the last couple of days. My parents let me do a quick post on theres today, but I should be able to post on mine again by next week.)
"Come on boy," Nieraan said, sounding annoyed. "Kill the damn thing!"
It seemed his master was getting impatient with him, what had he expected Cadyren to be done with the beasts in a matter of seconds, or was he just mad because Cadyren didn’t finish the beast off while it was still blinded? Either way Cadyren didn’t care, he was going to finish this at his own pace, he was already a little fatigued from slaying the other six monsters, he needed to rest a moment before he fought with the last and largest of them.
As Cadyren retreated towards a more open area, he passed by a couple of the other corpses, the smell of burnt flesh assaulting his nose as he walked through them. He stepped over legs, heads, and other body parts until he found a clearing, then he waited for the beats to attack.
The beast took a step forward and let out a loud roar, letting out a cry of anger and a demand for Cadyren’s death. Cadyren prepared himself for the final battle, this time taking up the opening stance of Djem So. Then the beast cloaked, and Cadyren couldn’t help but be surprised that in spite of its rage, the creature was going to try and sneak up on him instead of rush angrily towards him. This beast is smart, I’m going to have to be careful or I’ll be ripped apart. Cadyren realized. The beast was so large that Cadyren could still hear it, but it was hard to pinpoint its location with his Lightsaber also constantly humming as he searched. He considered deactivating his Lightsaber for a moment so hat he could search for the beast, but as it got closer Cadyren could hear it charging even with his Lightsaber humming so close to his body.
The creature uncloaked and jumped towards Cadyren, jumping at him from his right. Cadyren quickly jumped away from the beast as it lashed out with one of its claws, barely avoiding getting cut in half. He rolled back to his feet and turned to face the beast, which was now only a few feet way. It took a step forward and let out another roar, ad Cadyren raised his arm as spit flew onto him, covering his arm and torso.
Cadyren tried to ignore the smell of the gunk that was now on his Jacket as he took a moved forward and attempted to stab the creature in the eye. The beast moved backward and avoided the blow, knowing that the glowing green blade would quickly end it if it touched him.
Deciding to just finish the conflict quickly, Cadyren flicked his wrist and sent his Lightsaber flying towards the beast, moving to fast for the creature to dodge. The Lightsaber’s blade spun quickly, hitting the creatures face twice before returning to its Master. The large beats didn’t let out a final cry, but slumped forward, two large burning marks on its face.
Cadyren deactivated his Lightsaber and turned back to his aster, his anger returning now that the ebasts were slain, “Can you warn me next time before you throw me into a pit full of creatures that want to kill me?” Cadyren asked, not attempting to hide his anger as he walked towards his master. Calling upon the Force Cadyren channeled it into his legs and he jumped out of the pit, landing lightly on his feet. He turned back to his master, and waited for him to either tell him how horrible he did or to tell him what they were going to do now that Cadyren had finished the beasts.

Nieraan sighed softly as he watched Cadyren take a moment longer before acting. He hesitates... Even more, he could reach out through the Force and feel that fighting all of the Hssiss had tired the boy a bit. That made him snort. Caution was well and good when warranted, but slowing down and waiting because you were winded could get you killed.
At least, against a foe with more mental capability than a giant lizard.
That might be something else to work on. Nieraan shifted his weight to the side with a snort. He'll learn quick enough when we start to spar. A corner of his mouth curled up in a little smirk. A dangerous sort of amusement glinted in his yellow eyes. He better, for his own sake.
He watched the rest of the affair with the Hssiss with little interest. Now that the boy had slain the beasts down to one, the end was a foregone conclusion; unless he suddenly went stupid, Cadyren would kill the last of them, and that would be that.
That was exactly what happened. As the great lizard fell to the ground, Nieraan stood to his feet. He didn't clap, didn't say anything as Cadyren turned around and jumped up out of the pit. Instead he busied himself with brushing some of the dust and bits of rock from the white sash that hung from his waist, seemingly unaware that Cadyren was even there.
“Can you warn me next time before you throw me into a pit full of creatures that want to kill me?”
Nieraan gave Cadyren a sidelong glance, barely paying attention to him. "You survived, didn't you?" He turned back from Cadyren and leaned down to pick his bag up and toss it over his shoulder. "You think you'll have a warning before every situation that could kill you pops up?" Then he picked up the one the boy had been carrying it and tossed it to him. "Idiot. Now come on."
Nieraan began to walk again without waiting for the boy. He'd have to follow, if he wanted to learn.
He followed the path deeper into the cave. It turned this way, then that, seeming to go on and on without really going anywhere. It grew warmer still as they went deeper, until the air came to border on the edge of being hot. The caves were pitch black beyond the circle of light their glowrods made. But Nieraan trudged along, his footfalls echoing softly against the rocks.
Finally, they arrived at a large chasm. The walls of the cave shot out to either side. The ceiling arched up high overhead. The floor dropped off suddenly, plunging down into darkness where even Nieraan's sight through the Force couldn't see it. The only way forward was a small, thin bridge of rock that arched up slightly to a curved wall of stone on the other side. That was where the crypt awaited them.
The most interesting thing to see though, was the circle of crystals that lined the walls of the chasm. They glowed with a soft purple light.
Nieraan stopped as he entered the area, holding his glowrod up and peering around in the dark. Shyracks sometimes lurked in the dark, annoying creatures that they were. He spotted one, raised a hand and killed it with a single, powerful bolt of lightning.
"The Force is thick here," he said, his voice nearly a whisper. The Dark Side's touch was strong, almost palpable. "Can you feel it, boy?" He looked ahead again, to the other side. "The place where your training begins is on the other side, across the bridge."
Nieraan looked at Cadyren and gestured with his head for him to start making his way over. "Go on, if you want to learn." An amused little smirk touched his face. "Don't worry, I won't throw you for now. You'll be thrown around enough in a little while."

Cadyren hadn’t expect his master to apologize for throwing him into the pit, he may have only known the man for a day but it was quite clear that Nieraan cared nothing at all for other people’s feelings. No, instead of apologizing Cadyren’s master told him that he wouldn’t get a warning when something was trying to kill him. Cadyren knew that he was right, but he still didn’t forgive his master for putting him in that pit.
Cadyren caught the pack as it was thrown to him once again, putting one of the straps over his shoulder. It felt a little bit heavier on his shoulders now that he had fought and his arms felt a little fatigued, but h made no complaints. As Nieraan began to walk down the path once again Cadyren followed, staying back a few feet as they walked. He didn’t like being near the man, and he thought it would be best to keep an eye on him incase he wanted to push him into some pit again or do something else. Not that Cadyren would be able to stop him, but at least he would be able to prepare himself before something happened.
It was extremely dark in the cave, the only light coming from Nieraan and Cadyren’s glow rods. Beyond the soft blue light Cadyren could see nothing, nothing at all. The only sound that could be heard was Cadyren and Nieraan’s footsteps as they traveled deeper into the cave, the sound echoing back to them. The only thing Cadyren could smell was his own sweat, a few drops here and there on his face. It was starting to get warmer to, but Cadyren barely noticed as it wasn’t a drastic change.
As they walked Cadyren began to notice a soft purple light emitting from somewhere up ahead. He began to pick up his pace a little, curious as to what was creating the light. He found himself at the edge of a large chasm, with purple crystals that lined the walls of the place. For a moment Cadyren was reminded of the cave he had entered to retrieve the crystal for his Lightsaber. Like in that cave, the Force was strong in this place, Cadyren could feel it without even trying. He wondered if this was what he had sensed when they had first neared the cave.
Cadyren saw a creature move, not like the ones before. This one had wings and sharp talons, a Shyrack. Cadyren knew very little about the creature, other then that it lived in caves on Korriban and that it was considered a pest. It wouldn’t be that hard to kill, at least compared to the larger beasts that Cadyren had just faced. Cadyren was about to call upon the Force and end the beast when Nieraan lifted up his hand, sending out a single bolt of lightning and killing the beast.
Cadyren watched as the beasts body went limp and fell, jealous of the other Sith’s power. Cadyren wouldn’t have been able to kill the creature so fast only using the Force.
Cadyren turned to his master, who was asking him if he could feel the Force within the place, “Yes, I can sense it.” Cadyren responded, looking over to the crystals on the walls of the chasm, wondering if they were like the crystals on Illum or Adega, if they fed on his excess Force energy.
Cadyren was about to ask Nieraan when he was told that the next part of his training would begin on the other side. Cadyren looked once again at his master and saw him smirk before telling him that he would not be throw in this time, that he would be thrown around soon enough.
Cadyren thought about asking Nieraan why he was going to be thrown around what exactly was going to throw him around, but he figured that his master probably wouldn’t answer the questions.
Unclipping his Lightsaber and placing his pack on the ground Cadyren began to walk across the bridge, moving at a slow and steady pace. The bridge had a bit of an incline to it, but it was not steep and Cadyren didn’t feel like he was struggling to move upwards. He quickly made it across the bridge, and began to walk towards the entrance to the next room, the crypt.

"Good." Was all Nieraan said when Cadyren answered, telling that he could indeed feel the power in the place.
As the boy made his way across the bridge, Nieraan closed his eyes and took a deep breath. As the warm, dry air filled his nostrils, so too did the Force flow into his being. It was bitter and sweet, hot and cold all at once; a rushing torrent that filled him with life and threatened to sweep him away at the same time. It was power. It was strength. It was life.
It was death.
Nieraan's eyelids fluttered in ecstasy as the power swelled within him. For a brief, fleeting moment, Cadyren might be able to truly feel how far Nieraan's power stretched, to see how strong he really was, even as the crystals that lined the walls responded to the influx by glowing brighter.
And then, as quickly as it came, it was gone.
His eyes slid open smoothly, and without word or action, he picked Cadyren's bag up and began to walk across the rocky bridge. He walked quickly, casually, with the ease that came from traversing the bridge many times before. There was something else there, though. Nothing noticeable to an outsider, but he was connected to this place. Nieraan's mind felt clearer, his presence in the Force more focused for the time being, with hints of a dangerous power that lurked beneath the surface.
"You'll need this," he said as he reached the other side, tossing the sack to Cadyren as he passed by.
They walked a few yards further, and then they came to large stone doors. They blended well with the surrounding rock, but they were obliviously not a natural formation; the way the Sith Order's insignia was carved across them both proved that.
"Here we are," he said quietly. As he stepped forward, he rubbed a hand lightly on the old, rough stone. "This place is special, boy." Nieraan lifted both of his hands as he spoke, his voice sounding distant and distracted. His fingers danced lightly, weaving threads of the Force through the air. Six crystals, three on each side of the doors, lit in pairs as he touched each with the Force. "It's a place of power." With the crystals lit, he pressed both palms onto the door and stepped forward, leaning his weight and strength into them to get them to move. They creaked softly and slowly swung inward.
"Learn to tap it while we are here."
He stepped through the doors when they were wide enough, knowing that Cadyren would follow. After a moment, the doors slow closed again, leaving them in solitude.
The interior of the crypt was expansive, and it was dark. There were crystals inside too, like in the cavern before it, but they were dim, weakly lit. Nieraan set his sack down on the floor and took off his jacket, leaving on the grey shirt that fit well over his muscular form.
As he strode to one of the crystals on the wall, he spoke again. "These crystals respond to the Force. They glow because of the Force here. Touch them with it, or create a swelling in the Force," he did just that, channeling out with the Force and touching one of the crystals with it, "and they light up."
The crystal grew brighter, throwing purple light out around it. Nieraan turned around to face Cadyren, the throwing long shadows across his face. But his yellow eyes seemed to glow faintly, as they caught the dim light put out by the other crystals around the crypt. "Draw on the Force, boy. As deeply as you can, until you can't draw any more. Before you can learn anything, I need to know where you are in terms of power."

Nieraan told Cadyren that it was good that he was able to sense the Force surrounding the place, the closest thing to a compliment that Cadyren believed he would ever get from his new master.
As Cadyren walked the purple crystals began to glow even brighter, and Cadyren had to squint for a moment for his eyes to adjust as they had become accustomed to darkness. He wondered what was causing the crystals to grow when he felt a surge of power behind him. It only lasted a moment, but Cadyren knew what had caused it. Cadyren spun around to face back down the bridge, wondering what Nieraan was trying to pull. He spun around, but before he even completed the turn the power he felt coming form Nieraan disappeared, going away as quickly as it had come.
He was surprised when he saw that Nieraan was actually doing nothing, just standing there with his eyes closed. When Nieraan opened he picked up Cadyren’s bag and began to walk across the bridge himself, acting as though nothing had happened. Cadyren still did not know why he had all of the sudden felt the Force flow through Nieraan, but he did know one thing. Nieraan was extremely powerful.
Nieraan picked up Cadyren’s pack and began to walk onto the bridge, moving at a casual pace. Cadyren hadn’t made it that far up the bridge, so Nieraan quickly passed him. Nieraan gave him back the pack he had dropped, telling him he would need it soon, then continued to walk up the bridge. Cadyren turned around slowly and followed, still wondering what exactly his master had done a few moments before.
Cadyren followed Nieraan across the rest of the bridge until they came to two large stone doors, the insignia of the Sith carved into both of them. What is this place? Cadyren thought as his Master lifted his hands to the doors. Cadyren watched as Nieraan’s fingers began to move, also feeling the Force grow inside his master as he performed what seemed to Cadyren to be some strange ritual. As Cadyren watched his Master call upon the Force he saw that six crystals, three on each side of the door. As Nieraan told Cadyren that the place they were in was special the crystals began to light up in pairs, until all six were glowing. Then Nieraan opened the doors, pushing them forward.
As Nieraan walked in he told Cadyren to learn to tap into the power of the place while he was there. Cadyren stood there for a moment, how was he supposed to do that? Cadyren had never been taught how to use the Force in such a way. Sure he had been taught to draw upon the Force itself, but how was he supposed to tap into the power of the cave itself?
He would have to figure that out later he decided, and he walked through the door after his master. Soon after he entered the door closed.
The room they had entered was large. There were purple crystals in it just like the ones outside, but they did not grow bright enough to fill the place. The light from the crystals and the glowrods Nieraan and Cadyren were carrying mixed in the room, casting it in an almost indigo lighting.
Cadyren noticed that Nieraan was removing his jacket and pack, so Cadyren put down the pack he had been carrying and took off his own jacket. He wore a thick short sleeved shirt underneath, which was normally white but looked purple thanks to the light within the room.
Nieraan then began to speak, "These crystals respond to the Force. They glow because of the Force here. Touch them with it, or create a swelling in the Force and they light up." As he spoke Nieraan touched one of the crystals, and Cadyren watched as the crystals light became brighter as Nieraan’s power fed it.
“So do these crystals feed upon our Force energy? Do they make us weaker while we are here?” Cadyren asked, not entirely liking the idea that he might have been having his power drained from him even as he spoke.
Nieraan then told Cadyren to draw upon the Force, that he wanted to see what Cadyren was capable of before he began to teach him anything. Taking a deep breath Cadyren closed his eyes, opening himself to the Force. As a Jedi Cadyren had been taught to open himself to the Force and let it flow into him, to let it guide his actions. But that was not his way, not any longer. Cadyren called the Force to him, reaching out for its power hungrily, greedily. The Force came to him quickly, its power pouring into him. After a few moments Cadyren began to feel pain as he drew upon more and more energy, filling himself with it until he felt like he was going to explode with the power of the Dark Side. He continued however, despite the pain.
After a few more moments the pain became to much, and the force left Cadyren as he dropped to his knees, panting. He felt his body shake a little as he stood back up, and while he couldn’t have noticed, his eyes glowed with a dark yellow light, if only for a moment. “It seems that I over extended myself.” Cadyren said as he took a deep breathes, willing his shakes to stop. He knew that even though he had pushed himself the amount of power he had built up had probably been nowhere near as great as what his master had generated so causally earlier. It angered him, but he did his best to hide that too from his master.
