Description/role: Haldin Brothers was founded with the original intention of making commercial, private global transport, and was financially sound up until the war began. Sith incursions spiked the demand for war products, and specifically ships. Haldin Bro., seeing the opportunity, produced their first military craft; the Phoenix Interceptor.
The Phoenix was designed on the basis of Haldin Bro.'s original civilian craft, emphasizing speed and maneuverability. The Phoenix performed well initially, displaying use as a nimble fighter and quickly being ordered by the Republic Navy. The orders soon dried up, however, as the original Phoenixes developed poor reputations after numerous counts of weapons failures, insufficient armament, and poor defense.
Haldin Bro. hit a financial rough patch as not only their war factories remained idle, but the reputation spread to the their public vehicles as well, nearly driving the company into bankruptcy. Liquidizing their remaining assets, the company made a last ditch effort to make back their money by addressing the problems outlined in their fighter.
The result was the Version-2 Phoenix Interceptor. Maintaining the focus on speed and maneuverability, Haldin Bro. redesigned the craft with improved blasters, calling in assistance from numerous weapons companies. The failing company also managed to tackle the armor problem, doubling the amount of protection the ship used as well as adding the under-belly compartment option of an advanced shield generator.
The V-2 Phoenix, after overcoming its predecessor's issues and poor reputation, immediately returned Haldin Bro. to its former financial stability. The Phoenix was again ordered by major armies, and fell into choice with independent armies incapable of matching the bottomless checkbooks needed to order fighters of exuberant price, but still needing good quality. Their demands were met, and Haldin Bro. began to grow.
Eventually, Haldin Brothers Incorporated broke down after a disagreement between the company founders, the Haldin brothers, again forced the company into financial ruin. Losing everything, the blueprints were sold to numerous starship manufacturers, and the V-2 Phoenix is now the product of numerous companies. Some claim the original Haldin V-2 Phoenixes are in some way superior, but ultimately the designs have been changed little, allowing the ship to retain its identity despite all the new logos on its parts.
