Deenar supposed he wouldn’t be able to rip her lightsaber from her hand, but he also supposed Lana would somehow dodge his kick. Instead, she fell down and his thrown saber flew harmlessly above her.
He wanted to get up and retrieve his training saber, but she was faster and before he could even react, she was standing in front of him, holding her cyan lightsaber and his blue training blade at the sides of his head.
The Mon Cal boy listened to her advice intently and didn’t move at all. He wanted to learn from his mistakes and was afraid the energy beams could damage his eyes permanently. When she turned off both lightsabers and handed Deenar’s weapon back to him, he took it and stood up.
Before he could congratulate the Echani for her victory, however, he felt there was something he had to say first.
„I‘m sorry for the loss of your former Master, Lana. I know how it feels,“ Deenar said with a sadness in his voice, „Just a few days before I was sent to the Jedi Temple, my father was murdered by some thugs.“
´He was such a good man. What a shame he’ll never see me as a Jedi.´ he thought and grief started finding it’s way into boy’s mind, but he suppressed it and waited for a few seconds before speaking again.
„Congratulations on your victory. That was a really great fight. You showed me how to fight properly and told me some important advices, so I guess there is no shame in loosing to you, in fact it was an honour to face someone who is much more experienced than me. Thank you.“ he smiled and extended his hand to shake her‘s.
Because the Mon Calamari wasn't particularly interested in Lana's skills in Soresu, but he wasn't tired either, he decided to practice some Force powers. If her fighting skills were this good, surely her Force abilities were even better. He looked around. There were foam balls on the left side of the room, maybe they could use them.
„I've had enought of fighting with lightsabers for today, could we practice the usage of Force powers? Maybe Healing, telekinesis, or something else?“ he asked and looked at her again with his blue eyes.

She was quite grateful for Deenar's sympathy, but she only nodded. Such things were best left unsaid. However, once she heard of the murder if his father she frowned.
I'm so sorry.
The poor Mon Calamari was admitted to the Jedi at an old enough age to form an attachment to his family. Luckily for her, she was taken at the age of two, so she had no memory of her caretakers. That thought led her to remember one of the most important lessons she learned as a Jedi.
To let go of attachments.
It had also been the hardest one for her to follow, after No Emotion of course. She wanted to inform Deenar of the important lesson, but he seemed to be sensitive about the subject and he probably had already been taught this.
All Lana could do was thank the boy again when he commented on her prowess in battle. Not that it would do her a lot of good as a diplomat, the skills could be very useful for a Jedi Investigator, something she was considering becoming.
"Thank you Deenar, you were a worthy opponent. It was indeed an honor to share the mat with you, and I'm sure your skills will improve in the future, but only if you continue to practice."
Her words sounded honest, just as they were.
Lana was glad the Youngling had tired of combat, for she had begun to sweat a bit herself from all the exertion. So unladylike. However, healing was one of her weakest fields. She simply had no real interest in the subject, not that she didn't care. Still...the skill could be quite useful.
Telekinesis, on the other hand, was one of her better fields, inferior for her sensory and telepathic abilities, but still proficient. To signify her choice, Lana only bowed slightly before placing her inactive weapon on her belt. She then turned around, as if to leave through the door.
On the contrary, she was indeed planning a ruthless strike that would test Deenar's force abilities quite completely. Her advice to the boy would indeed come in handy...
On the far end of the room, a large foam ball lifted slightly into the air, manipulated by the Lana herself, or rather, the Force. The ball was soon flying through the air at a considerable speed. Not hard enough to be unstoppable or harm, but enough to make her intentions clear. All the while, Lana was still facing away from her target, using the Force to see him.

Deenar felt pride rising in his chest when Lana said he was a worthy opponent. She looked a little bit tired, it was probably a good thing that he decided to practice their Force powers.
Deenar attached his turned off training lightsaber to his belt and looked at Lana, awaiting her answer to his question about the Force training. Instead, she bowed, placed her lightsaber on her belt and turned her back on him, like she would want to leave the room.
„Where are you going?“ he asked, but then the sudden realization struck him.
Lana wasn’t moving. She just stood there.
Deenar remembered how she told him to expect the unexpected. She surely had something planned, and since he wanted to train their Force abilities, perhaps using the Force would be the best way to determine what was she doing.
He closed his eyes and concentrated on his surroundings. The Mon Cal immediately felt the Echani standing in front of him, like a light shining in the darkness. The boy was quite sure Lana could feel his presence around her, but he felt her presence around him too. Did she want to push him to the wall? No, she wasn’t controlling the air molecules near his body. Perhaps she was looking at him?
He also felt something strange, it looked like the Force was flowing from Lana to somewhere beside him, moving something light and soft, but big. Deenar quickly opened his left eye, only to see a big foam ball flying at him.
The Mon Cal didn’t have time to catch it or push it away when it was so close to him, so he quickly ducked and allowed the ball to pass above his head, then extending his hand, he used the Force to stop the ball in the air and pulled it back. The ball was now firmly in his grip, so he hurled it towards Lana’s back, while taking hold of another ball and throwing it against her right side.

Lana was relieved to see, or sense rather, that Deenar was able to evade the ball. It always made her happy to see people succeed, even if they were her friendly rivals.
However, she wasn't going to just let him succeed, Deenar would have to work for it. The Echani sensed both balls flying towards her. She could throw one back at her adversary, but then the other would hit her.
Pushing out with the force, Lana was able to slow down both projectiles until they were quite stationary in the air. Lana spun around quickly, and allowed gravity to take one of the spheres to the ground. The other found itself flying at high speed towards the Mon Calamari's left arm, followed swiftly by the other which was headed toward his right ankle. The distance between the projectiles was small, making it difficult to defelct them both. Lana was curious as to how he would evade such an assault, considering he most likely didn't have enough time to dodge them.
The Echani prepared to fend off a counterattack. She spread her legs to shoulder width, and brought her arms up in a defensive position.

Deenar watched one of the balls with his right eye, whilst keeping his left eye on the other one. Lana didn’t give him much time to think about his next move, as the balls were flying very fast and he probably wouldn’t be able to catch both of them, neither dodge them.
He extended both of his hands and prepared to catch one of the balls, but he had to do something about the other one.
´Now.´ he thought as both of the balls were few inches from their supposed targets.
He swiftly kicked away the ball aimed at his leg, making it roll somewhere into the corner, and stopped the ball which was flying towards his arm in the air.
Now, with one ball fully under his control, it was time to strike back. It wouldn’t be so easy, however, because Lana prepared herself. She would surely catch anything he would have thrown at her at this position. He had to catch the Echani off balance.
´All right, this is gonna require something she shouldn’t expect.´ he thought to himself and started gathering the Force into his palms.
„I’m still firmly standing, Lana!“ the Mon Cal called at the Padawan, „I want to ask you, where did you get that lightsaber crystal?. It gives your lightsaber a very nice cyan color.“ His question was meant to make her think, as he hoped it would distract her.
When the boy felt there was enought of the energy massed in his hands, he used it to hurl the ball against Lana’s torso with his right hand, while using his other hand to Force pull Lana towards it.

Interesting tactic, distraction and taunts to throw your opponent on edge. Not exactly a very Jedi thing to do, but an effective technique none the less.
"Why thank you, I acquired it on Ilum three years ago."
Lana felt the energy massing around Deenar's hands. She initially attempted to dodge the flying foam ball, but just before she moved she began to fall forward. Acting on instinct and the force, Lana turned over quickly and landed on her back. Almost at the same time, she retrieved her lightsaber from its place on her belt. With a depression of its small red activator, a cyan blade seemingly appeared from nowhere with a familiar snap-hiss. The ball met the blade, which was being held by Lana perpendicular to the floor, and was sliced in two.
As the smell of melted foam filled the room, Lana regained her footing and put the now deactivated lightsaber away. The padawan brushed dirt off of her sleeve with a sense of detachment and indifference.
She waited to let the moment sink in before grinning widely at Deenar. Lana spoke with neutrality, but her face gave away a feeling of triumph. She wasn't triumphant for her success in repelling the attack. The Echani was indeed proud of the mixture of lightsaber and force abilities she had just displayed. That was one of her worst areas, as she didn't care for all of this mixing and matching. So naturally, one would feel victorious when succeeding in something so difficult.
"You see, sometimes more unorthodox methods are necessary in combat. That's something I struggle with all the time, so I need extra practice. Anyway, you've done very well for one so young. Are there any other things you would like to touch on?"

´Hopefully no Master saw us entering this room, surely they wouldn’t appreciate destroying one of those balls. I should hide it before someone notices it.´ Deenar thought when the burned smell reached his nostrils. The Mon Calamari extended his arms and lifted both halfs of the ball into the corner.
He looked back to the Echani, who was smiling widely at him. Or at least he thought she was smiling, being a Mon Calamari he had a few problems recognizing human expressions.
„Thank you, Lana. And yes, I agree that unorthodox methods are needed in combat. When fighting against an opponent who wants to eliminate you, you must do whatever is necessary to survive." he said and chuckled, looking with his left eye into the corner where he hid the evidence.
„But this ball wasn't exactly a dangerous opponent, it was unnecessary to destroy it. You are lucky no lightsaber combat teacher saw it, they tend to be quite protective of those balls. Nice demonstration of your skills, nonetheless.“ he flashed a bright smile at her.
The Mon Cal wiped off the sweat from his forehead with his left sleeve. Using the Force was much more exhausting for him than a physical activity. Lana was probably the opposite case. Although he would like to practice a little bit more in some other usages of the Force, he was still a Youngling and therefore had to attend various classes.
„Thank you for your offer, but my history class starts in about 40 minutes, and I am quite sweaty, so I should go get a shower.“ he said and looked at her curiously.
„Did you have the history class teacher named Kall’Ousek? He was quite a cool guy until the war started. Now, he is pro-Sith oriented, because he believes we are influenced by the Republic propaganda, so he says we should look at this war from the Sith point of view. That would be fine, but he justifies every single crime they commit, so I am having some disagreements with him. Anyway, it was very nice meeting you, Lana. Hopefully we’ll meet again. Well, we probably will, since I am not leaving the Temple anytime soon.“
Deenar bowed to the Echani and started walking out of the room. He stopped in the doors and awaited her answer. He was really curious if she knew Kall'Ousek.

Lana was relieved to hear that Deenar was ready to stop training. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy the activity, but she had accumulated quite the amount of sweat on her head and body, resulting in sticky hair. One of the few things Lana hated was stickiness.
A cool shower would wash all of the stickiness away. Her daydreaming came to a sudden halt when her Mon Cal acquaintance asked about the teacher. She didn't speak for a moment as she went over to the chair and grabbed her robe. Lana grabbed the brown garments and folded them over her snow white arm.
She had never had the man as an instructor, but had heard of him. However, his strange behavior had been unknown to her. Perhaps the boy was just overreacting to the master's request.
I've never had the master, but I have heard of him. His behavior sure does seem... un-Jedi, and I'm sure the Council is aware of it. Perhaps he was just trying to encourage you to view both sides of the conflict, as war is never as simple as good and bad. Regardless, I've enjoyed training with you, and It would be a pleasure to do it again sometime. May the force be with you.
As she spoke, the silver-haired woman strode towards the door and bowed to her sparring partner. She smiled at him once more once she rose from the shallow bow, and left the room.
Rhythmic footsteps sounded in the grand hallway as Lana Kindari made her way to the showers. The thought of a cool shower made her smile just a bit, something she had been doing a lot as of late.

Deenar watched as Lana left, so he closed the door to the training chamber and started walking towards his room and well deserved shower.
The Mon Cal entered his room, took off his clothes and stepped into the shower. He allowed the water to run over his body, cleaning it from all the sweat. There was nothing better after an intense fight than a refreshing shower.
When he managed to wash his body, he walked out of the shower and put on his clothes. He noticed the tiny scorch mark on his tunic. He didn’t have time to try cleaning it, and surely half of the people he’ll meet won’t notice it anyway. He just smoothed out his robes, so he wouldn’t look untidy.
The boy walked out of the room and went to the class. When he was about to enter, he looked at the clock. He was five minutes late. Kall’Ousek will be angry at him. Again.
´Maybe I could accidentaly miss this class? Nah, that would cause more trouble than it’s worth. Let’s get this over with.´ he thought, taking a deep breath and entered the room.
„I am sorry, Master Kall’Ousek. I kind of forgot what time it was when I was having breakfast.“ he bowed apologetically.
„You don’t have to be sorry boy, we just started.“ said the red skinned Twi’lek.
Deenar walked over the empty desk and sat down.
„Today, we are going to talk about the Sith Empire…“ announced Kall’Ousek.
This was going to be a long lesson. (Thanks for rping with me, it was fun. And I guess this thread is over.)
