Callidus nodded in approval and laughed devilishly as the account of the journalist's demise was given. Callidus was what he considered to be a power player. He was one of the few that sat back and moved pieces across the infinitely faceted board that was the galaxy. Callidus was the pawn of but one entity - the Sith Empire. He had only one level above himself. While to him this was not ideal, it was tolerable. The empire the Sith would create would be magnificent - it would put the universe as it should be. The strong will be elevated while the weak suppressed. Order and strength would be the rule of the day. The Sith are neither mindless killers nor thoughtless thugs. They were ruthless at times, but it was all for a greater purpose. Those Sith who were enlightened enough to see the bigger purpose. Callidus saw himself as one such man, and Haust's words were proving him to be the same. "Your chosen method of assassination was well taken. Your execution was flawless. You have proven most resourceful my apprentice. I will continue to expect this level of performance in the future." Callidus said to him, brimming with pride. Callidus was proud of his apprentice, but also proud of his choice of apprentice. His long search was finally over.
"You have proven insightful as to the proper nature of Sith. Understand that we work for a higher purpose. While it is in our nature to look out for ourselves, this is only a natural impulse to propel the strong to power. Out of this supposedly selfish drive we all should possess, more of us seek power. The more that seek power means that those who attain it are the more competitive, more powerful beings. With the most powerful being in command, true change and glory can become of this galaxy. The Jedi have allowed it to rot and decay, we will change this." Callidus said very casually.
"However, such convictions are not my primary motivation. I do not pretend to be such an ideologue. For now I seek mastery of the dark side of the force - properly called Bogan. Dark side carries many... implications that are not always accurate.... Go now my apprentice, meditate on what I have taught you and from what you learned from this kill. Always be hungry for knowledge and power. We will soon reconvene to discuss toppling this master of yours."
Callidus returned his attention to his own desk and sat down. There were still plans to put in action, plots to unfold. All in a day's work for a Sith Lord.
