((OOC--- the day after friends in high places))
Aldric Cibre had just solved another case the night before. At the moment though he was watching a view screen fingers interlaced and brought up to his mouth. The Holo- News- Net, was about to do a review on the exact case that Aldric had dubbed "Whale Hunting!" for several funny accurences that had happened thoughout the investigation. The Twi'lik reporter poped up on the screen and began to make the report... By the end of it Aldric was shouting at the screen. No, No.... Really?!?! He shouted as he stood up and spun before letting himself land right back down on the chair, It was a slug thower, not a high powered modified Sniper! He said, he truely hated it when people tossed incorrect terms or got details wrong. He didn't even care that his name wasn't put in the report, or the fact that the local police got credit for the arrest. Aldric stopped and looked out the window, with a sigh of annoyence. I need a drink! He said quickly pushing himself off the chair and grabbing his trench coat and bag, then bursting out the door of his appartment, where he started putting the scarf on. The winter was coming, and the cold was just outside. Aldric stepped into the elevator where another young Human girl was already in. Aldric made a quick glance at her; she was a science major in coledge judging from the book that was in her bag, she was recently visiting someone on the floors above Aldric's, that was simply determined from the fact that she obviously didn't live in the appartment, and it was likely a family member, possibly a grand parent, because he could partly read a note that the girl had and she had a small plastic bag of cookies that she took a single bite of before putting the cookie back in the bag, likely she didn't want to tell who ever it was that she didn't like thair cooking. His short glance was up so Aldric took a side step away from her. She only stared at him. She then spoke, "Wait... Now i recognize you!" Aldric's eyes went narrow, "You're that Private detective! I love your cases, are they actually true?" Aldric sighed, Oh great, i'm getting recognized... he thought to himself; Aldric didn't mind people knowing who he was, it was people just like the girl on his left that he was slightly annoyed by. Yes, they indeed are true... Aldric said, before quickly being cut off before he could explain more. "Oh the people at coledge aren't going to belive this...your use of science in investigations make you into a role modle." Aldric sighed again... Judgeing from the amount you lie, i would suspect they won't believe you! Aldric said flatly. She didn't even seem to notice what Aldric said, she continued on, "Would you mind signing something for me so i can prove i actually met you?" Aldric looked to the computer on the door, and sighed again. Fine! He said as he turned to the girl, he put one hand behind his back and clicked a button on it while she wasn't looking. He had deleted the place she was getting off at and replaced it with another location. Aldric was shocked a bit though when she revieled the area she wanted him to sign. She un buttoned the top to buttons of her shirt and handed Aldric a pin that she pulled from her text book. Aldric let a simple smile cross his face. He took the pin and wrote not on her chest, but on her forehead. From Aldric Cirbre, To Moron! The wrote an arrow pointing down to her face. No sooner then he was done writeing did the door open up to the lobby and he spun to leave, hitting the "shut door" button as he did so.
He went to a local Cafe' where he ordered a Coffee and a Nerf sandwitch. Then just out of feeling slightly happy, ran up to the stage while no one was playing, the thing Aldric liked about this Cafe' was Just that, anyone with musical talent could pop up on stage for a few notes. And Aldric did just that, he got up and began playing his flute, a classical tune, one that he had composed himself. Roughly five minutes later he jumped down from the stage, and got a few people who tossed coins to the stage, Aldric of coarse left them alone, he made money off of his job, and even if he didn't have a lot (or nearly any) work, he wasn't going to take money for something else that he enjoyed. He returned to his booth seat and continued eating at his meal.

Chilling. That was the best way of describing what Kea had been doing for the past few weeks. Chilling. A more relaxed, and more cool sounding term than doing nothing at all all day except watching the occasional news bulletin and ignoring fan messages, be they written old-school style with pen and paper, or sent electronically. She wasn't spiting her fans. She was ignoring them. And everything and anything to do with her career. Well everything except music. She was fairly sure she'd die without music. Or at least go partially insane.
She had barely left the five room apartment she had bought on Coruscant in several weeks, and it was a real mess. Clothes were scattered all over the place, on chairs, on tables, on the floor, on the ceiling (those seemed to have decided gravity was overrated). Everywhere. Well everywhere except where they were meant to be. In the various drawers and closets in her room.
She was currently lying on a couch, half-asleep, her guitar laying on her stomach, the news was on, more in the background than anything else. It was going on about an attempted assassination against a senator. A case which had been ongoing for the last week. Maybe more, maybe less, time gets funny when you're secluded with no structure to your life. Her stomach growled loudly, waking her from her stupor. She groaned, got up, and saw herself for the first time in the mirror which she'd hung on the opposite end of the living room.
She looked... Well she looked like someone who'd completely lost track of everything. Her hair was a mess, her face was still scrunched up from just waking, and she wasn't particularly clean. She got up, and looked around the place, taking in for the first time just how great a mess it was.
"Well looks like I'm the perfect image of a failed artist," she muttered bitterly, then sighed, and gave a hiss of frustration. "C'mon Kea. Time to go see if the world's changed since the beginning of your hibernation," she declared loudly to herself, stretching. "But first, lets clean up this dump. If dad could see you he'd go mad."
-------------
It was a few hours later, and the apartment was spotless. Well as spotless as she could make it at least. She'd washed herself, put away the clothes for washing, organised her old music collection. Hell she'd even put away all the crap she'd amassed over the years into places where the various objects looked like they might vaguely fit.
But now she was feeling bored. There was nothing to do. She had some gaming hardware attached to her big screen, but she'd pretty much abused the fun right out of that over the last weeks. She could go drinking, but it was still a little too early for that. She had to give her life some structure again. Or at least some semblance of structure.
She'd heard of a nearby cafe which catered to the more, musically inclined. Well it allowed patrons to get up on the stage. That was as musically inclined as establishment that weren't full blown concert halls, opera houses and stadiums got on Coruscant.
She dressed herself, selecting a thick hooded sweatshirt, some not too skin tight pants and some average shoes, and she headed out. As she got into the street she pulled up the hood of her shirt to hide her face. She was going out, yeah. But she wasn't entirely keen on being recognised. She wasn't in the mood for accusing stares today. Only a few rogue bangs sneaking out of the hood were visible to anyone who wasn't looking at her intently.
As she got into the cafe she found a group of rodians on the stage. Whatever music they were trying to play it sounded less than pleasant. She headed for the bar and ordered a drink, which was promptly served to her.
She couldn't says he was entirely sad to see the rodians step off. Now she wanted to go on stage, but she felt rooted in place. the stage fright had taken her before every concert was back. She knew that after the first song it's be gone. She knew it was completely illogical. She knew all that. But she couldn't seem to move her legs.
Instead, a young human stepped up, and played a rather enchanting tune on his flute. It sounded eerily familiar, but completely different to anything she'd heard before. A few minutes later the man was done and he jumped down, ignoring the tips patrons had left for him. Playing for the pleasure of it? She could respect that.
"That was quite beautiful," she told him as she approached him, leaning next to his seat at the bar. "I don't think I recognised that though. Was it of your own making ...?" she paused inquisitively at the end. A non-verbal way of asking for his name.

Aldric was actually proud of his preformance on stage. Then again he was mostly proud of his own music. It was hardly something an actual musician would play, but for someone who basically taught himself how to play, it was very good.
He was actually rather suprised when he noticed a femanine hip lean against the bench accross from the table from him. "That was quite beautiful," Aldric smiled as if thanking her, but found it best not to say anything sense his food was still in his mouth. "I don't think I recognised that though. Was it of your own making ...?" By this time Aldric had swallowed the bite, he could tell from her hands she played a stringed instrument, likely a violin or guitar; but there was actually few other features of her he could really see, her face was covered mostly by a hood, so he could possibly say she was a simple teen punk, but a teen punk with a love of music such as that thet he had just played? Not likely! So he guessed she was trying to hide something. He didn't press the matter though, in stead he had every hope to have a simple conversation about music, and little else if at all possible.
Actually yes, i composed that tune about three weeks ago! My name's Aldric Cibre, please do have a seat! Aldric pointed to the bench as he took another bite and then held a finger up. He pulled his bag up to the table and reached in pulling out one of his three note books, this one wasn't anything speacial, a simple black book ment for school. In it though he had every song he had composed. It had several in it, but he managed to quickly flip to the page it was on and showed it to her. That's the song i just played, and sense you happen to like music as much as i do, perhaps you could make modifications to it? Or would just like to look at it!
Aldric said handing the notebook over the table to the younger woman, at least he assumed she was younger then him, from her voice and build, but could actually tell much from her face.

((OOC: I assumed he'd give her a pen. I don't like assuming anything from someone else's character usually, but if I stopped when she asked for the pen you'd have to write an entire post dedicated to the passing of a single writing utensil))
"A pleasure to meet you Aldric," she said as he introduced himself. "I'm Kea," she was afraid giving away her last name would allow him to recognise her, and so she simply gave him her rather generic first name. There were plenty of Keas running around. She'd be fine.
He placed a note book on the counter, opening it at a specific page, and as she saw the musical partition her eyes immediately lit up with a passionate fire. She dragged the book towards her, bending over it like a scholar over a historical manuscript. She brushed back a few bangs, tucking them behind her ear, and extended a hand towards Aldric.
"Pen," she ordered without taking her eyes off the pages. As soon as she felt the writing utensil in her hand she twirled it between her fingers.
"Right, so it mostly has a pacing problem," she told him, not unkindly. "The theory and structure is great, but this bit here," she pointed at a crescendo with the still capped pen, "needs to be slightly shorter, it drags on a bit too long," she made a small mark with the pen where she thought it should stop. "And the build up beforehand is too short. The crescendo would have a lot more impact if the build-up was just a few seconds longer, tease the audience a bit more."
She continued as such, making several other similar points. While she talked multiple groups came and went on the stage, a plethora of styles and techniques passing by. But she barely heard them. She was too engrossed in the task at hand. She hadn't touched sheet music in weeks. Only now did she realise how much she'd missed it.

((OOC --- I was kinda thinking he would have the pen in the book itself, but i guess sense i forgot to point it out we'll work with it this way XD))
"A pleasure to meet you Aldric, I'm Kea," Aldric didn't recognize the name, then again, even if he had met her before, he likely wouldn't have remembered her name. Though he had to guess that he hadn't met her before anyway. A pleasure to meet you too! She seemed to take to his papers quickly and then was glued to them. "Pen," Aldric looked to the spine of the notebook she had and noticed he didn't have it there. Instead he had put it on the spine of his other notebook.
He reached into his bag again and turned to the page about the Herglic race that he had self written. That was the last time he had used the pen, so it was where he had left it. He made a mental note to get more then the one pen as he handed it over to Kea and shut the book and set it back into his bag.
She quickly read over the music sheet noticing small imperfections in it that Aldric didn't have time to notice when he wrote the page. As he remembered that was written just prior to the Hound case he had solved, he had entended to go back to it and fix it, but never got around to it.
"Right, so it mostly has a pacing problem, The theory and structure is great, but this bit here, And the build up beforehand is too short. The crescendo would have a lot more impact if the build-up was just a few seconds longer, tease the audience a bit more." Aldric nodded, he had noticed the pacing, but she had still pointed out more specificareas that he hadn't really payed attention to. Aldric watched from across the table as she marked the different things she had noticed.
Aldric smiled, she defenatly had a great knowledge of music, one he himself could have had, should he have stuck to learning it more then about sciences and the human (and alian) brain. Aldric began humming the tune now, even though the note sheet wasn't in has hand, he remembered what he had wrote, and could see what she had changed, so he humed at the near perfict pace and pitch, this time with considerable changes, and even though he wasn't useing the flute, it sounded like when he did try with the flute, it would come across a lot better.
After the first 30 seconds of humming he stopped, and brought it up to a whistle, this time there was no guessing, it was completly apparent that when he tried with the flute, it would come across perfict, thanks to Kea's changes.
You appear to be right, he said at last, It does come across a lot better! Aldric had only smapled the area of the song that had the most changes, but it sounded more...complete.
Aldric thought about how to further the conversation while still keeping to the topic of music. Eventually he returned to Kea's fingers, they had the obvious look of someone who had a stringed instrument, perhaps that would be a good idea to continue with. Guitar or Violin? Aldric said looking at her again, she was still looking at his music sheets while he asked, he curled his left hand into a ball as he pulled it up to his mouth resting his first finger's knuckle against his chin.
He was trying to see under her hood slightly, but that was difficult sense she sat lower then Aldric did. What few of her facial fetures he could see didn't look familiar at all.

She had to say she was impressed by his re-creation of the tune. It had been practically like hearing a playback of the song, but with the improvements she'd suggested. She was glad to hear it did sound better. Music was very subjective, and any time she gave her opinion on a piece she was always afraid she'd be making pointing out things she saw as problems rather than objective problems. Aldric hadn't seemed to think she'd made any inane or overly personal corrections to his music.
"Guitar or Violin?" she raised her eyebrows in mild surprise at the question. How'd he narrowed her experience to just two instruments? Did she have a huge neon sign slapped on her forehead telling it to everyone?
"Guitar," she replied, pushing back a strand of hair that had escaped form behind her ear, she was now flipping through the pages of his notebook.
"How did you know I played an instrument?" she turned to look at him, but hurriedly returned to looking at his music sheets in case he managed to see too much of her face and recognise her. As she did she mentally chided herself for being so paranoid. She'd been so busy trying to prevent him from recognising her that she hadn't even had the time to take a good look at him.

"Guitar," Kea said confirming Aldric's istimate. Then she asked him a question, "How did you know I played an instrument?" This was something Aldric had hoped not to pop up, but then again, when he said things like that, it was bound to happen. And fo course Aldric just HAD to answer her question.
He started slowly but as he moved through the list of hints she had unknowingly handed him his pace sped up just like parts of his music. Well, you have a higher knowledge of music then i do, so you where either a player or a teacher of music, and even though i can't tell exactly how old you are, i can tell you aren't that old so more likely then not it's the first of those two options; so i knew you played an instrument but wasn't sure which of the millions that exist in the galaxy, so i narrowed that down by the fact you have evadence of struming a stringged instrument on a near daily basis on your right hand's thumb, so you're right handed and play something with strings and even though their are thousands of stringed instruments in the universe Guitar and Violin are the most common, so i went with those.
Aldric finished before taking a short gasp of breath wondering which of the thousands of possible responces she would have toward him observing what he had. There was always the "water-to-face" that he had gotten more then once, then there was the simple "I've gotta go now!" excuse, He had even been slapped once. And if she did seem to resent him for that, it would be sad, because Aldric had only wanted to talk about music today. Yet he was used to people insulting him and leaving him never to have a second thought of him after he read them like a book.

Kea stared at Aldric as he ranted off his string of clues, her mouth slightly agape. As he finished she found herself speechless, for one of the first times in recent memory.
"That's actually... Really cool," she said honestly. She had to admit he'd impressed her. A lot.
"Can you do that for anything? Like could you tell me what," she looked around the room, searching for something to quizz him on. Here searching gaze fell on a pair of rather shady looking individuals in a corner, both were covered in heavy clothing, hiding most of their frames. "Could you see what these guys are talking about for example?" she asked, pointing at the pair.

"That's actually..." Aldric grimaced this was that vital moment where he made sure he had something to clean his face off with, because he normally got hit in the face with what ever drink the other person had with them.
... Really cool, Aldric raised his eyebrow, That was unexpected! He thought to himself, as she asked her next question. Can you do that for anything? Like could you tell me what... She paused for a second as she skimmed the room, finally finding something and pointing it out, Could you see what these guys are talking about for example? Aldric spun in his seat to see the pair that Kea had referred to. Aldric didn't turn back to her as he responded, I must warn you, i'm not a mind reader... only Jedi can do that, But those people who say their "mind readers" use trick similar to the ones i use...In other words... observation... Aldric said making sure that note was clear.
By this time he had been watching them long enough to confirm his next grouping of facts... First off if you look at their shoulders the same symbol patch, look closely it's actually an insignia, Bikers of a gang, though you can tell that it isn't the type of gang into killing, more like the type who sit on park benches a talk smack. I can't see the one who had his back facing me very well, i can tell he's in his mid-to-late forties there's a stain of hair coloring on his right shoulder indicating he's right handed and that dark brown isn't his natural color... The one on the other side of the table is old friends with hair color as they've recently been talking about his wife as is made obvious by the fact that he's referred his ring on his hand that he's worn well. I can also say that the one with his back to me is divorced and possibly well traveled as he has a tan not natural for someone from Coruscant, and his ring finger has a tan mark from where a ring "used" to be worn!
Aldric stopped and took in a breath, the down side to talking was was running out of breath twice as fast. He turned back to Kea, My turn for a question! You think that's "Cool"? Aldric asked making sure she wasn't pulling his leg or something like that. That's one of the first times I've gotten that response... Aldric said taking a drink of his coffee...

Kea stared at the human as he reeled off his list of observations. She was wide eyed. That was indeed very cool. She could only wish she had skills like that. The number of possibilities such a thing could open up. Hell she could probably find a decent agent if she could read people like open books like this Aldric guy could.
As he sought confirmation of her amazement she found herself further amazed that people didn't understand the value of the gift this man had.
"What? Well they're all idiots!" she declared, putting her hands on her hips and shaking her head. "People can fail to see what's right in front of them sometimes. Sure it's a breach of their privacy to some extent, but it's not like you tell them anything about them that's really offensive. Or at least you didn't tell me anything that was offensive," she leaned towards him, shortening the distance between them considerably. He had sparked that childishly curious part of her. Quite possibly the only bit of her that could get her mind off music. Her eyes were quite literally bursting with greed for information. "Can you teach this stuff or is it instinct?"

"What? Well they're all idiots!" Kea stated before continuing, "People can fail to see what's right in front of them sometimes. Sure it's a breach of their privacy to some extent, but it's not like you tell them anything about them that's really offensive. Or at least you didn't tell me anything that was offensive," Aldric Chuckled, that was completely true. Kea leaned forward a bit before asking her next question, "Can you teach this stuff or is it instinct?"
Aldric thought for a second, that was slightly difficult to explain, for him it had become natural, but only after time of him learning how. He started off his explanation. I suppose the best way to explain it could be like a puzzle, I Observe the small pieces of people, then i put them together! It requires quite a bit of learning, but somethings are really simple, for example that reporter behind you, i can tell he's right handed simply by the direction his tie faces. And how i can tell he's a reporter by the fact that he has ink from a pin and pressure marks on his wrist from leaning on a desk recently, probably works right around the corner and here on lunch break Aldric pointed out the man who had just entered the Cafe' as he looked at his holo-watch to confirm the time.
A lot of the time it has to do with Psychology and how the brain works as well.
Aldric turned to Kea again, I didn't learn it over night either, It took practice.

As he explained the nature of his skill Kea quickly came to realise she would never be able to learn this stuff. No way she'd be able to keep all this crap in her brain. Her mind would quite literally explode if she tried to cram that much stuff into it. She'd tried picking up psychology once, thinking it'd be fun, like reading a crowd. It hadn't turned out to be that way. Which begged the question, how did he do it?
"And you can keep all of this in your brain? Your mind must be quite spectacular to hold this much knowledge all at once," she admitted with an impressed smile. "That or you have only what you need in your mind, and no excess knowledge," Kea added with a good natured laugh.

"And you can keep all of this in your brain? Your mind must be quite spectacular to hold this much knowledge all at once, That or you have only what you need in your mind, and no excess knowledge,"
Aldric smiled, Actually you're not far off on either front, My mind is different then average ones, though i wouldn't go out far enough to say it's "Special, there's lots of people who have similar minds to mine, i just learned different things, part of why i can do what i do is like you said, didn't learn a lot of un-needed things, but another is that i have what's called an Eidetic memory, meaning it's near impossible for me to forget most things, except for names, i have trouble with names... " Aldric finished his quick spoken words with a smile.
Aldric felt like he wanted to return to the topic of music, though he wouldn't mind returning to the topic at hand if Kea so wanted to. For no though he asked another question, this time not speaking fast. So what type of music do you prefer? My personal favorite is Classical, though i do like a selection from other types as well. Aldric added his own bit as a little extra incentive for her to answer, she seemed secretive, but he was trying his absolute best, NOT to pry into her personal life, and right now that was easy sense he wasn't nearing his Insane state of mind.

Well Kea found herself wishing for an eidetic memory. She'd heard tell it was a myth, and that no one possessed such a mind, but Aldric seemed to be a shining example of the contrary. But he'd sated her curiosity, for now at least. Maybe she'd try to read around every subject later. Or maybe she wouldn't She wasn't quite sure if she had the patience for it. Just thinking about how much work it would require doused her enthusiasm.
In a way she was glad for the change of subject back to music. This was an area she was rather fond of, and knowledgeable in too.
"A favourite music style? I don't think I have such a thing. All music styles have their own qualities which makes them unique. The style a song is in doesn't matter. What matters is the skill of the creator making the song and of the artist performing it. Except maybe with Gamorrean opera," she finished the last sentence with a laugh.
"I don't think anyone but Gamorreans actually enjoy that. Perhaps because they're the only ones with the required vocal skills to perform them. Maybe if a song in the style of Gamorrean opera was performed by a skilled musician of another species we'd find the genre to be the most beautiful thing ever. But that's a moot point. The very nature of that style makes it impossible for non-Gamorreans to perform successfully."
"Baka Rock is great fun to perform though. Even if it was invented by Gamorreans. They seem to have the musical talent of a rock," she admitted with a light hearted smile. "The sheer energy of Baka Rock songs is great. Although original Baka Rock songs made by Gamorreans aren't exactly much better than Gamorrean Opera, Baka Rock songs written and performed by non-Gamorreans are very good."

Aldric smiled at Kea's long and obviously well thought out response to his question, she did have quite the selection of favorites, Aldric thought of a way to continue on this line of thought. There is only one type of music i truly can't stand, and that's any type of heavy metal, Rock is fine, but not heavy, gives me a headache!
Aldric thought of another question, for some reason while talking about music he didn't seem to mind not knowing much about Kea, he wasn't prying, he wasn't trying to reed her, he was just talking, this was something Aldric rarely got to feel, because he almost always wanted to know what people around him where thinking, for once, just talking to someone, was enough to keep his mind busy.
What about other instruments? Any other interests besides playing guitar? For me i was always interested in Flute, guitar, piano, and Violin, maybe a couple others, but i only ever focused on the Flute...
By this time and Aquilish had taken the stage, he was playing a flute himself, while the rest of the band made up mostly of Bith began to play drums and another couple of instruments, while a Zeltron sang for the group. They had a good song, but Aldric took a second to look at the band that just changed hands and could tell they where a newer band. But he quickly turned back to the conversation at hand with Kea.

"The 'heavy' stuff can be abrasive, but with such violent styles its more often than not the raw energy of the performance which captures the fans. It calls to our less civilised, more brutal sides. That and the songs of such genres often focus on violent tales and violent events. Wars, deaths, the whole shebang," she replied to his confession of dislike of what was commonly called the 'heavy' genres. "Of course I can definitely see where you're coming from. It can sometimes sound like a lot of banging and screaming."
An Aqualish had taken to the stage, along with his Bith and Zeltron accompaniments. For a second she felt the stage calling to her, a call which was not easy to ignore. But cooler minds prevailed. She was 'undercover' because she wanted peace and quiet. Getting up on that stage would be quite counter-productive.
"My first instrument was the piano, I learned to play that many a year before I even touched my first guitar. But my favourite instrument remains this," there she tapped her throat twice with her left index and middle finger. "My voice is what I'm most confident with. Of course those are just the instruments I play. If I had the time and the mind for it I'd try to learn all the instruments that ever existed from every culture. But I can't, so I much prefer to focus on these three."

Kea gave the near exact reply as to why so many people liked that stuff people called "music" This was refreshing, a younger mind that actually didn't like that sort of music.
"My first instrument was the piano, I learned to play that many a year before I even touched my first guitar. But my favourite instrument remains this," She pointed to the throat, Aldric raised an eye brow as she continued, "My voice is what I'm most confident with. Of course those are just the instruments I play. If I had the time and the mind for it I'd try to learn all the instruments that ever existed from every culture. But I can't, so I much prefer to focus on these three."
So piano and singing as well? That's a decent variety. Aldric made a note of how she answered that question, confidence in her voice could mean a lot of things, Aldric thought, but he actually wasn't concerned in the need to figure out who she was. In stead he diverted his mind to another question. You grow up on Coruscant? Or did you move here at some point?
