I'mmmmmmmm going to remain highly skeptical of that, and chalk it up to misguidedly over-hyping the movie. There's selling a product and over-selling a product. If it's really better than Empire, then it'd be smarter to let the work stand for itself. Otherwise now that he's stated that, people are going to be a hell of a lot more critical of it, and so for people to see it as being better than Empire will cause them to give it less of a chance to see it in that light. I think, though, he's just over-selling the movie by saying it's better than what's universally viewed as the best of movie of the franchise/series. So, I'm really skeptical of his claim, in fact, it makes me even more concerned (when I initially wasn't at all) given he'd feel compelled to make such a claim.

The prequels were truly terrible, I don't suppose Disney can make more of a mess of it. But i reamin to be convinced and the Trailer has not convinced me yet.

I thought the lightsaber was intriguing, 'cause it looked like a sword.

Be curious to see if those hilt pieces ever come into play or are just decorative.

Anyway...
If anyone hasn't seen the awesome trading cards for some of the new characters in the trailer. -Link- So now we know the names of a few of these new characters.

Also, J.J. said that the numbers put on the cards to have a significance regarding the characters.



Some highlights:

BB-8 - the spherical ball droid
Poe Dameron - X-wing pilot [Oscar Isaac]
Kylo Ren - the mysterious lightsaber wielder []
Rey - the girl on the speeder [Daisy Ridley]
Finn - the stormtrooper [John Boyega]


We still don't know who is playing Kylo Ren... some rumors say it's Adam Driver. Others say maybe Domhnall Gleeson, since he's been without much mention so far. Keeping his character under wraps? But it could be anyone.

Also, Daisy Ridley's character hasn't been given a surname yet... so there's still a chance that the rumor she's the Solos' daughter is valid.


We have yet to find out what the character names for Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, and Andy Serkus are. (And possibly Adam Driver, if he is not Kylo Ren). But they were not featured in the trailer, so this is likely why they have not been revealed yet.



Thoughts on the names? Trading cards themselves? The numbers?

So Star Wars Celebration kicks off today, and these are (allegedly) promotional art pieces for TFA that are floating around there, featuring sith guy and some new Stormie designs.

I'm more interested to see if a new trailer surfaces at Celebration.... according to rumors they might reveal it during the convention. (Instead of in front of the Avengers movie as first rumored).

Word is something is supposed to be shown today, so I guess we'll see if that pans out or not
