Name: Katha Xia
Race: Human
Age: 23
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 135 lbs
Appearance: Katha is slightly taller than most women. She has a small frame, making her look a little slender for her height. Her hands are long and a bit bigger than expected, but they fit her. She's graceful, even though she was quite clumsy when she was younger. She has pale skin, a stark contrast against her dark hair.
Katha has a thin, angular face and small features. She has pale blue eyes, so light that they almost look gray.
She has jet black hair she keeps in a tight braid. Even braided it reaches down to her lower back. When not braided it's unruly, giving her reason to keep it pinned back all the time. It's straight, but when it gets wet it becomes wavy.
She wears a long gray dress with black boots and thick tights underneath. She has a black belt where she hangs her lightsaber. From the belt hangs beads and a long piece of sash that reaches down to the bottom of the dress, which is also black.
Personality: As a first impression, Katha usually seems like a serious, quiet Jedi who sticks to the rules as closely as possible. She doesn't seem to spend much time in the company of others. She seems as if she's a bit full of herself and dead set on achieving a high rank, no matter what the cost.
You get to know her better and you'll discover she's quiet because she doesn't like drawing attention to herself. She does want to become a High Council member, and pushes herself to achieve her goals, but she's not power hungry.
She's a great listener, and is very aware of others feelings. If you're looking for an honest opinion about anything, Katha's the person to ask; she will not find a way to soften what she has to say, because she feels if you can't handle it the way it is, you need to grow up. She doesn't spend much time with people because she prefers to be alone, or with a small group of close friends.
For the most part Katha does follow the rules, but sometimes she will completely defy the council in order to do what she feels is right. Sometimes this doesn't always work out for the best, but she sticks to what she believes in, no matter how it effects those around her.
Sometimes she comes off as a bit of a know-it-all, because she is pretty smart, and sometimes lets it show a bit too much. With most tasks she's open for discussion on the best possible way to compete it. There are some things though that she feels her method is the best way to do it, and won't stand for arguing about it, especially when she feels your skills are inferior.

Bio:
Early years:
Katha was identified at birth as force sensitive. Her mother- a single woman with no way of supporting herself and a young child- gave Katha to the temple as soon as they would accept her. While a youngling, she was kind of the odd child not very many people liked to be around. She didn't really think things through before she said something, and it often ended in embarrassment. She was real clumsy, causing her trouble in her training. She loved to read in her past time, gaining a lot of knowledge early, which immediately pegged her as the 'brainy kid'. As she got older her training helped her grow out of her clumsiness.
Apprenticeship:
Katha was selected to be an apprentice at age 12. Her master, Rorwic Dulwen, was very strict. At first Katha really didn't like her master; she was used to the much nicer, gentler Youngling caretakers. She thought Master Dulwen pushed her very hard and demanded quite a lot of her. She didn't feel adequate, and hardly gave her best efforts. Because of this, for the first few months she struggled in her training. No matter how much she slacked though, Master Dulwen refused to give up on her.
When her master was selected for an off-world peace negotiation, he decided to take his apprentice with him, hoping some experience outside of the temple would give her more motivation in her training. He was very right; the experience did just that. Outside the temples, Katha discovered what real life was like. The negotiations went sour, and the two Jedi found themselves in the middle of a civil war. Katha had only ever experienced the mostly comfortable life of a young person at the Jedi temple, and hadn't realized just how dangerous the life of a Jedi was. She realized then that Master Dulwen was not pushing her any harder than any other apprentice, and everything he did was to protect her.
At that point, Katha developed a want to prove herself to her master. She became very quiet and proper, trying her very best to put off the teenage mentality and become a responsible, reliable apprentice. Instead of only putting in a partial effort into her training, she started to really try, and began to excel. As she began to take her training more seriously, she learned to appreciate her master's strictness. A bond began to form between them, and for the first time Katha had what she considered a father figure in her life.
Around this time, her master began adding in time to her training to find and cultivate any specific talents she had. During one of these sessions, he showed her the basics of healing. This was the first time Katha practiced healing. Her master immediately noticed she had a talent for it, and implored her to further her abilities there. She did, and quickly grew to be a competent healer.
As Katha grew, her master began pushing her to try and find answers on her own, which was what he considered the first step to self reliance. Dulwen rarely gave her a direct answer to any of her questions, making her learn to find answers to her questions on her own. Though at first it frustrated Katha quite a lot, she eventually came to love learning and finding answers on her own, which really helped her grow intelligence wise.
As she reached 14, she once again became plagued by clumsiness as her body began to grow from that of a child's to that of a young woman. She grew into her new height slowly, and eventually managed to get over her clumsiness again. As the clumsiness faded, she became quite agile, and learned to use this to further her fighting abilities.
Up until now, she had been using an old lightsaber of her master's. Her master brought up the topic of building her one of her own at age 18. She perused the idea with her master's guidance. After much considering, she settled on a simple, practical design and got to work collecting the parts. Once she had everything she needed, she got to work on building it, and completed it a little while later. It was one of her greatest accomplishments. The Council decided to allow this to count as part of her trials, giving her a bit of a head start on them.
At age 19, Katha's world was drastically altered by the death of her master. He was killed in a freak accident with a speeder near the temple. She mourned him greatly, feeling that the world had stolen from her the one person she had really cared for. It was also her first experience with death, and it took it's toll on the young woman. She spent the next year just barely getting buy, trying to learn how to cope without her master. At first she almost turned away from the Jedi, feeling that if his death had been the will of the force, than she wanted nothing to do with it. After some time she managed to convince herself that she would only regret leaving the order.
She then tried to smother her grief in work, turning to her natural talent for using the force to heal people. She kept herself incredibly busy helping injured people, healing many, all the while burying her sorrow in her work. She furthered her abilities as a healer at this time, becoming quite adept. As time moved on, the pain of her master's death faded, and eventually she learned to move on, though she would always remember her master and cherish her time with him.
The last of her training was completed under a different master. Two years after her first master's death, at age 21, she decided to complete the trials. She had already completed two; her Trial of the Flesh was the death of her master, and her Trial of Skill was the completion of her lightsaber It took her a year to complete the others. She became a knight a few weeks after her 22nd birthday.
Knight:
Now a Jedi Knight, Katha learned what it meant to be a full fledged Jedi. She discovered what it was like not to have someone older than you constantly guiding your every step. At first she kind of doubted herself, and missed the guidance of her Master, but eventually she learned to be self reliant as she made many major decisions in her life. She spent some time helping out with the younglings, and then left the temple to search for force-sensitive children. She helped bring six children to the temple; three she found on Courascant, the others offworld. She also doubled as a diplomat at this time, seeing as there wasn't always force sensitive children for her to locate. She didn't spend much time doing this however, because she wanted to try for higher ranks, and she knew the only way to do this was to train an apprentice, and that took a while. She decided not to waist any more time and started looking for an apprentice.

Katha quickly shot out of bed when she heard the knock on the door. "I'm up, I'm up," she muttered as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes.
"Are you ready for training?" she heard an unfamiliar voice call through the door. First she was confused. Why isn't my master here for me? Is he sick? Am I to train with someone else today? Then she remembered the events of the past couple of weeks, and sorrow engulfed her again. She sighed shakily, fighting tears. The loss of her master was still too close, and she still didn't quite have control over her emotions. She cried often at night, and time and time again awoke expecting him only to be reminded that he was gone forever.
"Katha?" the voice asked again. This time Katha recognized the voice; it was that of her new master.
"Yes, I'm coming," she replied, even though she wanted nothing more than to just curl back up in her bed and shut the world out. "Just let me get dressed."
After a few more moments, he moved the door and allowed her master to enter. The older lady smiled kindly at her, pity shining in her soft green eyes. Katha knew she looked like she had been crying, but she didn't care. "Are you sure you want to train today? I'm sure another day of rest won't hurt anybody," her master asked her.
"No, I've rested enough. I need something to get my mind off of the past," she replied quietly.
"Of course dear. Come along then," her master said, and then started down the hall.
