The Sacking of Gargon

Prologue

The Galactic Republic

In the past seventeen hours spaceports across the planet of Gargon have been crippled. The Holonet uplink to the rest of the galaxy has been mysteriously cut, with planet wide communications being scrambled as well. Panic and rioting has begun, with local law enforcement struggling to keep millions of people in line. Too late do the distracted officials realize that as they tried to keep order invaders have begun to fill the streets.

Within the Capitol Tower of Talusport, the largest port city and capital of Gargon, Governor Dedos has collected every high ranking military personnel and Jedi possible, Blade or not. Though a shrewd and capable politician, the Governor has little experience in the ways of war. This council has convened to determine what the threat is, and how best to counter it. With no way to contact the Republic, anxiety only rises in the council as well as across Gargon. Troops have been maneuvered into the streets for added security, though only in key cities across the planet.

Haar Mando'ade

Amassing the largest military force since before the Treaty of Mandoa, Mandalore the Reclaimer has united nearly all Mandalorian clans under her banner. With a massive fleet of newly commissioned war ships and restored dreadnaughts the Mandalorians have dropped their fleet out of hyperspace above the capital of Gargon. Weeks of careful sabotage and bribery have given a wide window for planetary invasion, leaving Gargon helpless to repel the invaders. Mandalore the Reclaimer spearheads the charge into Talusport herself, aiming for the Capitol Tower to take Governor Dedos’ head and claim the planet for her people.

With the invasion the Reclaimer has denounced the national ways forced onto her people by the Republic. Instead they return to the feudal clans of true Mandalorians. To show her commitment to bring the Mandalorians back to their former glory, she has revealed to her people a great secret. The return of the Basilisk War droid has spurned the Mandalorians, fueled further by the rush of pillaging a planet in a way only their elders have experienced. Morale and bloodlust soar as a flood of Mandalorians seize the planet.

The Sacking of Gargon story event will be focused on one thread, with two other optional threads to join in too. All three will take place during different points of the invasion, one early into it, one in the heat of battle, and one at the end. You can have multiple characters in this story event, but only one per thread. This will allow people to explore the different angles of the battle. Each thread will begin with a Staff post to set the mood and setting, with the following posts taking control of it.

The Sacking of Gargon: Main thread, story focused, eight hours into invasion

Glory Reclaimed: Optional thread, Mandalorian focused, one hour into invasion

From the Ashes: Optional thread, Republic focused, twenty hours into invasion

Note: The Sacking of Gargon will be pushed to completion by the Staff. This will be done to keep the storyline moving at a good pace. Glory Reclaimed and From the Ashes will move at their own paces, with no pushing to keep it going from the Staff.

Yeah, shame that thread never really took off. If you got something in mind for Ambria's involvement in #sackingofgargon, post it up when Reclaiming Glory's discussion thread is posted up after the sign up period.

I personally don't have any other ideas outside the listening post being key to the Mandalorians being able to rush Talusport before the Republic forces could move to intercept. So as for what Ambria and company do right after disabling the post, that is entirely up to ya'll.

Well, I'm not sure how much direct involvement there would be, considering the prelude thread with the disabling of the listening post and assuming that she and Jorra completed the mission, lol. So I'm not sure how much more there would be post-disabling the station.

Unless this invasion takes place directly after that thread, time-wise, meaning Ambria would already be on planet and wouldn't arrive with the main attack fleet. (Maybe with an NPC or two from an earlier earlier thread where she went to Gargon to train up some peeps -- Another thread that never got off the ground.)
