[Iota]

Iota exits the training room and wanders down the great halls of the jedi temple, he takes some time to reflect on his teachings from his old master, friend and brother. Brother of course in the banding of brotherhood as apposed to biological means.

After a short period of time he notices a group of younglings conversing near the library, looking at each of them in turn. He walks over to the younglings and introduces himself.

"Good day to you younglings, i am Iota Dhegon, i am one of the jedi knights here.. its a pleasure to meet your aquintance.."

As he converses with the younglings, he notices a young human male of what looks to be from a noble back ground in the group.

"Excuse me youngling, you are Makiro Variyas, are you not? i have heard alot about you.. a very promising youngling"

Iota smiles slightly as he awaits Makiro's response.

[Makiro]

Makiro laughed loudly at Reia's impression of Grand Master Eris, but quickly silenced her as he saw one of the Temple's knights coming down the corridor. Their group quickly started to talk quietly, pretending that nothing had happened.

Unexpectedly, the Knight wandered over to the group.


"Good day to you younglings, i am Iota Dhegon, i am one of the jedi knights here.. its a pleasure to meet your aquintance.."

The younglings smiled and returned the compliment.

"Excuse me youngling, you are Makiro Variyas, are you not? i have heard alot about you.. a very promising youngling"

Makiro glared at Reia as she grinned widely at the Zabrak Kinght's compliment.

"Yes, I am. Pleased to meet you."

Makiro smiled and held out his hand.

[Iota]

Iota extends his hand and shakes Makiro's hand. Iota looks Makiro up an down as if he was judging the youngling.

"hmm.. you look..agile and fairly strong for your age.. the fine markings of a jedi gaurdian..intrigueing.."

Iota ponders for a moment.

"it seems we are in quite a predicament, you and i..." He smiles slightly. "You are not mastered.. and i have no padawan..what to do..what to do...hmm..."

Iota looks to Makiro 's comrades then back to Makiro.

"A word of warning, i would not jest the members of the council..whislt actually in the temple.. your thoughts will betray you young one." Iota smiles with a slight chuckle.

Iota looks in thought for a moment once again.

"So, i have a proposition for you youngling... if the council grant it of course... would you be interested in becoming my first padawan learner?" Iota keeps his slight smile whilst looking to Makiro's comrades and then looking back to Makiro.

[Makiro]

Makrio looked at Iota in shock: despite trying to appear cool and collected to his friends, he had secretly been dreading his thirteenth birthday, suspecting that he would have to join the Jedi Service Corps.

He grinned widely at the Zabrak, "I would be very interested! When can we ask the Council?"

Around him, Makiro's friends also grinned, trying desperately to conceal their jealousy.

[Iota]

Iota nods.

"we should waste no time in this matter as time wasting breeds incompetance. Come, we shall go to the council.. Say your farewells to your comrades, for you will probably not see them for a while.. When we get to the council chambers, you will have to wait outside until the council have decided." Iota looks to Makiro's friends then back to makiro and smiles.

"lets go.."

[Makiro]

Makiro nodded hastily and said hurried goodbyes to his friends.

He followed behind Iota as the Zabrak led him to the Jedi High Council Chamber.

Standing next to the door, he wished the Knight good luck and began to wait.

[Iota]

Iota nodded

"i hopefully shouldn't be too long..and there is no such thing as luck, there is only the force.. if they agree then it is the will of the force that will bind us as master and padawan. I will be back shortly"

Iota turns and heads towards the chambers with his head held high and an emotionless expression.

[Makiro]

Makiro waited for what seemed like hours, but in reality could only have been a few minutes. Try as he might, he could not hear anything from inside the Council Chamber.

So, when Iota Dhegon reemerged from his meeting, Makiro held his breath, waiting for the final verdict.

[Iota]

Iota exits the council's chambers and looks to Makiro.

"Ah, there you are Makiro.. the council seemed some what relieved to see me... something discomforting happened there i feel..." Iota adjusts his tunic slightly then raises an eyebrow slightly.

"The path of a jedi is a long and patient journey, with many obstacles for you to climb over... the pnly question left now is... do you wish to learn my knowledge of the force and lightsaber techniques.... my newly appointed padawan?" Iota smiles

[Makiro]

Makiro listened to the Knighgt's words. He inclined his head slightly.

"There is nothing I would wish more... Master."

The word felt strange and new in Makiro's mouth. Yes he had used it to address senior Jedi, but this was different. For Iota was not just any Master. He was his Master.

[Iota]

Iota nods.

"Very well..the first assignment i have for you my young padawan is that you build your own lightsaber.." Iota motions to makiro to have a seat.

"But before we jump to that..i must ask you this...Which colour crystal would you like? each crystal resembles a different type of jedi.. The blue crystal represents the Jedi Guardian, they fight the forces of the dark side in a more aggressive manner prefering combat over force abilities.." Iota pauses for a moment.

" or there is the yellow crystal which represents the path of the jedi sentinal, the sentinals are a medium between the consulars and gaurdians, they are capable at lightsaber ocmbat as well as force abilities.." he then paces up and down slowly as he speaks.

"and finally.. the green crystal.. which resembles the jedi consular.. The Consulars prefer to find a deeper knowledge of the force by studying the powers that can be learnt.. in a sense they are philosophers and tend not to train as much for lightsaber combat as a guardian would... What crystal would you think would suit you best my young padawan?" Iota smiles as he waits for a response from Makiro.

[Makiro]

Makiro hesitated for a moment, unsure as to which path he wanted to follow.

He imagined himself in each of the roles. He liked the idea of being on the frontline, battling the forces of Darkness, ridding the Galaxy of their menace. He also liked the idea of studying the mysteries of the Force. Of becoming wise and knowledgable, able
to dispense wisdom and solace to all but the darkest of beings. He even liked the idea of combining the two.

However, he sooned reached his decision.

"I think..." he began, "I think I would like to become a guardian."

[Iota]

Iota nodded.

"i suspected as much... here..have this" Iota takes out a blue crystal from a pouch attached to his helt.

"this blue crystal was from my master's lightsaber... it seems fitting that you recieve it.. you might even feel an essence from the crystal..if your senses are attuned to such" Iota explains.

"My master, friend and brother is some aspects passed on from this life and became one with the force...a story for another time perhaps." Iota looks distant for a mere moment.

"Right.. here is your crystal.. use it wisely.. i cannot help you make your lightsaber as is jedi tradition.. it is down to you and you alone my young padawan..you may consult the jedi archives. i shall be waiting in the training rooms..good luck" iota hands over the crystal to Makiro before turning and heading for the training rooms.

[Makiro]

Makiro accepted the crystal graciously, clutching it tightly in his hands.

He waved a goodbye to his new Master as the Zabrak left for the training rooms. It was, as Master Iota had said, now time to consult the archives. But not before paying a visit to his friends.

[Iota]

Iota takes a seat in the training room as he awaits his padawan. He removes a datapad from his pocket and proceeds to read its contents.

[Makiro]

After updating his friends on the current situation, Makiro made his way into the Temple Archives.

He had always loved the archives. Loved the Blue rows of holobooks. Loved the idea that they held so much knowledge. So many stories.

Asking Master Baumm where he could find the information he needed to construct his lightsabre, he made his way to the appropriate section and began to read.

He had, of course, studied the art of lightsabre construction before, but never in this much detail. Now that he was undertaking the task for real, he felt the need to scrutinise each and every word in minute detail.

After an hour or so, he was confident that he knew enough to begin. He hoped that his previous knowledge, combined with a mixture of this new study and the power of the Force, would allow him to complete his task.

Thanking Master Baumm, he made his way to a small training room, to begin his journey.

Concentrating profusely on the task in hand, he opened himself to the Force and began to construct his sabre.

Hours passed as Makrio assembled, adjusted and fine-tuned his lightsabre. Finally however, it was finished.

He ignited it and looked at it proudly. Its azure blade hummed calmly in the silence of the chamber and its hilt. Makiro thought that its silver and black hilt, with its ball-shaped power cell at one end and bronzium emitter at the other, looked very handsome.

Fitting it onto his belt, he smiled and left the room. It was late (or perhaps early) now, and Makiro was alone in the dark Temple corridor.

Making his way to the training chamber in which his Master was waiting, he walked through the doorway and bowed low to the Zabrak Knight.

"Master, I have finished."

[Iota]

Iota looks up from his datapad and pockets it.

"so it seems, i had heard from fellow jedi that you were studying hard and concentrating...good good..." Iota eyes the lightsaber's hilt for a moment.

"Tell me, did you sense anything about the crystal? could of just been my bond with my old master that makes me feel such a thing...." ponders for a moment.

"Gaius Julius was his name, a human of course.. a Guardian like me too.. he was at one with his lightsaber.. his, or rather..your .. crystal was infused with his heart and soul..not literally of course.. he was a great jedi knight. He and i faced many a dark jedi in our years together. He was never really one for politics or negotiations, he had a way of using his darker emotions in battle but keeping them in check so he didn't fall to the dark side.." He looks deep in thought.

"come..let me see your new lightsaber"

iota holds out his hand to view the lightsaber.

[Makiro]

Makiro unhooked his new lightsabre from his belt and handed it to his Master.

"I sensed... something." He admitted. And it was true: as he had inserted the crystal into the hilt of his new sabre, he had felt a power, a presence almost.

"I do not know what exactly it was though."

Makiro watched the lightsabre as Iota turned it in his hands.

[Iota]

Iota recieves the lightsaber and examines the hilt.

"interesting...hmmm..." He ignites the lightsaber. A blue hue extends from the hilt. "Ah..very good indeed.. not quite perfect alignment, but it is very impressive for some one of your age and experience" Iota states before switching it off and handing the lightsaber back. "Remember.. a lightsaber is not a weapon as such, it is a tool for us jedi, it resembles us to the public.. it resembles that we are the guardians of peace and democracy in the galaxy.. it is only to be used if diplomatic negotiations have failed and you need to defend your self...for if it is used out of vengeance or anger it will lead you down a path i cannot and will not follow... i hope you understand this my young padawan learner?" iota nods

[Makiro]

Makiro took his lightsabre back and re-attached it to his belt, glad to feel its comforting weight hanging from his waist once more.

Listening to his Master's words, he nodded.

"Yes, I understand. Will I have to use it often?"
