SWU:RP Open Tournament

Hey there folks! Allow me to introduce myself to those who may not know me, I'm lion; general awesomeness all in a feline bundle, if I do say so myself.


But I digress.

The intent with this request is to start anew a concept that has been around for some time, but is in sore need of a reboot. Indeed, good sir, I refer to the duel thread tournament! A series of matches pitting Sith, Jedi, Republic, Mandalorian, and any inbetweeners into a series of battles to whittle down the numbers to one final winner.

And thus, the SWU:RP Open Tournament begins again! A Single-Elimination tournament that will feature the standard fare rules and scoring conditions of the standard Duel that we know and love, and perhaps with some extra little secrets that could really spice up the competition. Oh yeah, we'll be bringing some specialist matches in there for you lucky contestants to tear into each other with; this ain't your vanilla deathmatch tourney!

If you're interested, please post below with the character you wish to bring into the fore. The more, the merrier. Are you willing to step up and take greatness?

Great to see another join! And a Mando, no less.

As for the war-droid, I'd have to give that one a considerin'! It would be one hell of an advantage in his favour, after all. That said, I think he'd be the first non-Force sensitive to partake, too, so there's gotta be some leveling out to be done for sure on either side.

Whether that's up to the level of a war-droid, though, we'll see. I'll get back to you on that one, yeah? :3

Are these standard character duel rules? If so, a war droid doesn't really matter. It's about who wins the writing, not the battle itself. If not, Ari might need it. I don't know the other characters or how things have progressed, but the other characters arent push overs.

Obviously, it's up to you, Lion. But I'm inclined to agree. It'll be a challenge, fighting the flying artillery battery, but I'm game.

Alrighty, with that being said and some talk from Dutch, definitely, the War-droid's in! Could add a totally interesting dimension to it all, so it'll be fun to see.

Ok, I'm gonna sign up on a conditional basis- if we have an odd number of people (not counting me) I'll throw in Tsubasa Arus. Other than that, I'm planning to just observe and grade x3 But I'll fill a spot if absolutely necessary.


I think it'd be ideal if we could get up to 8 people Avoids having any bye round stuff, but I guess we'll see how things shake out. I might bug people to sign up xP

Neat, Rugs! I'll be interested to see what happens either way; if we do fall short of 8 I'm happy to also partake, so we'll see how it all comes together. So far we're up to five not counting yourself, so not far off. :3

So uh, what's the deal with this?

This is still intended to go on; the count stands at seven so far, and I'd given it some time to get to eight to round out the contest brackets properly. Since near a month has gone by, however, I'll simply follow Rugs's conditional entry thingy and drop it back to six.

The bracket I'll organise, but it will be three opening bouts; three fights will take place with the winners and the highest-scoring defeated character advancing. From there, four fight down to two, two to one. Helps get around a bye, as you can guess ,and does put an imperative on playing solidly, as you can still 'lose' and get through. Keep in mind, loss regards -points-, not duel. Your character can lose the fight and win the duel.

The first string of bouts will be 5 rounds per match, 6 for the second set of matches, and 10 for the final.
