She smiled at his chuckle, Patience decided that she quite like Alston, there was something about him which made him easy to communicate with. "I'm glad you were able to come rescue us and thank you for doing your jobs." She decided to leave unsaid what might have happened if they had not been able to come or worse... Did not do their roles, she and the others would be dead or worse, trapped on the ship still with no hope of escape or rescue.
It had been a desperate flight all the same, but despite the loss of life, they were hear to talk about it and the aliens themselves were dead. "We never should have taken those aliens from the planet... But..." She sipped her drink and shook her head sadly. "No one is going to listen to just one doctor... Especially when the xenozoologists are going crazy." She shook her head again, perhaps wishing she had been able to give more a stand. Not that it mattered, the past could not be altered.
She watched him limp over to a viewport and after a few seconds, followed him. "I might... I might enlist in the military, someone has got to be there to patch you commandos up right?" Though her tone was light, the blues of her eyes were serious. "You save my patients lives and my own... Pretty certain if you tell my parents you saved my life they might pay you." She chuckled. "They sure do love money." She ran a hand through her blond locks.
"I... Thanks, I will try not to..." The doctor forced a smile onto her face. "We should be celebrating that we are still alive... I think the fallen would want us to be happy we were here still and honour their memories by living on."
