Meira smiled when Master Took congratulated her. It was a confirmation of what she had thought herself. It had been a gesture by the council, a kind one at that. And she was thankful. It had been, after all, the Council's decision to send her on one last mission before granting her the rank of Knight. Had Meira been of a less humble stock, she might have felt shame, or even resentment that the Council didn't see her ready. But she was not resentful, and she had not felt shame. If she were totally honest, she might have felt relief. She did indeed learn many things about herself on that last mission of her training days.
Oh, it really is a beautiful place. Meira said, sitting down when master Took invited her to. Her next question had seemed a good one, as he took a moment before answering her. Any good question is not so quickly answered. That's what her uncle had told her. And Master Took's response could have come out of her uncle's mouth. Perhaps the two had known each other once, she mused to herself. But she did not ask. Instead, she listened as Master Took gave his advice. And she knew, in her heart, that it was what she needed to hear.
She chuckled at his joke, as humorless as it might have been. Well, maybe I'll try with one before moving up to a whole class full. She responded, the vision of a room full of wild children running amok levitating everything they could get their minds on. No, that day would have to come later... if at all.
Meira's eyes turned back to Master Took's, her smile relaxed. She'd have to meditate on it. But she felt reassured by his words. Perhaps the Force was telling her something. She felt a renewal of energy, and indeed, an excitement at the prospect. She suddenly felt the urge to move, and so she stood and bowed to the man she now saw as a mentor. Thank you Master Took. I will meditate on what you have said. I've got to get going now, though. See you around. And with that, and another quick bow, Meira turned and left the room. Her energy and excitement compelling her forward.
