Meira smiled and stood silent as the young boy filtered her question through his mind. She did not speak, but listened as he reasoned it all out himself. She was impressed at his insight as he reflected on the contradiction between the Jedi Code and the true nature of many younglings. She nodded her head in agreement, but remained silent still.
When the boy turned to the window, she turned with him and took in the same scenery as he continued. After a short time, the boy came to his conclusion and introduced himself. Meira's smile remained as the boy concluded with his request to learn from her.
It is a pleasure to meet you, Jon'arichi'kotokk. She said, pronouncing the name as best as she could. You will find that Self Reliance is not so easy at a young age, but it comes in time. When you are ready to become a knight, I think you will see it as a far less difficult ideal. She said, reasuring the boy about the discrepency he had pointed out.
Now, I am not the best of the Knights, nor am I the wisest. She said, reflecting his own statement. But I believe that I have much to teach, if you will have me. A master and padawan must both accept the responsiblity to learn. I will accept you as my apprentice if you accept to learn from me. If this is the case, then I think a trip to the Council Chamber is in order. She said, adding a smile to her words. The pairing of a master and apprentice was a serious matter not to be taken lightly, but when the deal was struck, there was joy in the act.

Swallowing as the Final words left Meira's mouth, Arichi was struck with Self-Doubt, however as he continued to look out of the window, the lump in his throat died off ever so slightly. Out there, in the Galaxy...There are things to do, people to help. I may only be one, but if I do not Take this....They may never get the help they so need he thought, smiling to himself and straightening up to look at Meira.
As his glowing red eyes met hers, Jon'arichi'kotokk pulled his tunic wrinkle free and swallowed the saliva that had collected during his nervous moment. If together we can share our knowledge and learn from one another he started, smiling in what he hoped was a reassuring way, Then even moreso, what we know can be spread to all who need assistance out there, in the endless tracts of the Universe itself...If you will have me as your Pupil, I will have you as my Master...none are perfect, though through cooperation, we can come closer

((Ok, the Council chamber thread is currently discussing important site-wide plot stuffs and so it's best we don't disturb that. However, I've asked Vreem Took to post in this thread with us to approve you becoming my padawan. From here, I'll start us a thread on Ilum so we can get you a lightsaber crystal and then build your lightsaber.))
It is settled. Meira said with a smile. She turned and began to walk briskly down the hallway. They would now have to go before the Council and announce their intentions. If they agreed that this was a good direction for both her self and the young Chiss, then their bond would be made official and the two could begin this next important stage.
Come on then. She said over her shoulder, slowing down to allow the boy to catch up. By the way. Is there a shorter version of your name that I might use? Jon'arichi'kotokk is a bit hard on my tongue.
Hopefully the boy wouldn't be offended. The two continued along the hall until they came to the main hall of the Temple. The high ceilings arched above those walking below from dizzying heights. Meira moved to a lift and waited as the elevator descended. As the doors opened with a soft ding, Meira stepped inside and waited for her young companion to follow. Once they were both inside, she selected the floor and the doors closed. Soon, they were moving up the many floors of the temple.
Once they reached the top, the doors again opened and the two stepped out into the hall that would lead to the Council chamber. Before reaching the doors, Meira turned to the boy. Ready?

Shuffling after Meira with as brisk of a pace as his Nine year-old legs could manage, the young Chiss, now on the Very Verge of becoming a Padawan himself, followed the Knight. Through hallways they walked, deeper and deeper into the Temple, past places that He had never been before. When Meira asked for an alternative to his Full name, Jon'arichi'kotokk could not help but laugh at the error she had made when saying the words.
The language of my name is Cheunh he stated, going on to explain it as best as he could. The First part is indicative of the House that I am Technically a member of, lower ranking, but well-known...The Second part is my Personal name, Arichi...It is the name that my parents have given me, and that I can choose at will to Allow others to use. The way that the boy pronounced his Personal name was rough, thick on his Tongue, sounding like a cough almost {{Ar-EE-ki}}
Continuing after a moment, allowing the Knight that he followed, Arichi Explained the last part of his name as being a Symbol of who's child he was, his father and mother having chosen it as a title almost. By this time, they were both inside of the turbolift, and as the doors opened, Jon'arichi'kotokk gasped slightly at the Grandeur of the hall that lay before them. He had never been this far, not as long as he could remember, however, he had no intention of being intimidated at this point. I am ready he said breathily

Meira had listened intently during their journey to the Council Chamber as her new companion explained the finer details of what his name meant. She had nodded, understanding herritage behind it. My name has a similar construct, though It lacks the title at the end of yours. Meira is my given name, and Valli is my clan name.
And then they had moved from the turbolift and were moving down the hall. He had confirmed that he was ready, and all that was left was to step close enough for the door sensors to signal the doors to open. Meira had been here twice, that she could remember. Though she was fairly sure her uncle had brought her here when presenting her for testing to be trained as an infant. The first time she could remember was when her uncle had announced that he would take her as a padawan. She was in the same position that Arichi was in now. It had caused a bit of a stir, they being family and all, but it had proved to be a most harmonious pairing.
The second time was when she came to report her uncle's death. She had felt empty at that time, as if an enormous part of her had been uncerimoniously torn away. But with time and wise councel, Meira had learned to celebrate her uncle's union with the Force. He had been a great teacher, and his legacy lived on in her. Her eyes again turned to look at the young boy who stood beside her. With a quick nod, and a smile, she moved forward.
The sensors picked up on the movement and the doors before them opened soundlessly as the two passed through and into the Council Chamber. They came to a stop at the center of the room. Chairs, glass, and eyes surrounded them. Short as she was, Meira stood tall and placed her hand on Arichi's shoulder. As the Council members looked on, she spoke.
Masters. After meditating on the question, and seeking counsel, her eyes connected for a moment with Master Took's. I have submitted to the call of the Force. I believe that it has called me to step forward and take an apprentice. And I believe that it has led me to this young hopeful. Meira paused for a moment to let her words be heard and understood. I request that the Council name Jon'arichi'kottok as my Padawan learner. This time, Meira had remembered the specific way Arichi had said his name. Her accent might have made it sound strange, but she was fairly sure she had gotten it at least 80% right.
She then stood in silence, her hand still placed on Arichi's shoulder. She was not nervous, but confident and sensing that Arichi might be a little nervous himself, she allowed the Force to carry her sense of calm through her and into him. Now there was nothing left to do but await the Council's decision.

Taking a Deep Breath, Arichi Stood solid-still and barely breathed, lest his gasps for air disturb these Councilmembers, lest his inhalations disrupt their contemplation. Looking up to Meira, he smiled softly, awaiting the reply with Bated breath.

Gaius who was in mid meditation whilst meira and the young chiss had wondered into the council chambers, slowly opened his eyes. He bowed his head slightly in respect to the younger jedi before he took in her request.
He remained silent as he awaited the voice of the council to speak, he simply gave a small nod to his fellow council members before smiling to the young boy "Far from home young one..far from home.. be safe for i will be watching your progress" He smiled in a friendly manner before returning to his meditations.

(OOC: Here’s your post at Meira’s request)
It was almost evening now, the end of yet another busy day was drawing near for Vreem Took and the other members who accompanied him on the Council, they were few, perhaps at half strength, maybe less. Grandmaster Eris was currently on of the ones absent, either teaching or in talks with members of the Republic no doubt. So Vreem had been taking a more proactive role throughout the course of the meetings and discussions. After all, he was considered one of the more experienced members of the Council.
But when Meira and Arichi walked through the door the Council Chamber, Vreem was a little surprised. He had expected Meira to turn up in maybe a week or two with a potential student. But what he hadn’t expected was her to turn up later on the very same evening as they had been discussing her concerns about taking on an apprentice. And her choice was certainly a… unique one. Most of the Jedi in the Temple were uncertain about Arichi, the lack of knowledge regarding his culture, heritage, race and past had made many fearful of the boy. But it seemed now Vreem wouldn’t really have his chance to approach the boy as a teacher, that would be Meira’s job. But perhaps he might get to know him through his occasional meetings with Meira.
His eyes flickered towards Meira when she spoke and their gaze met solidly for a moment before passing around the room to those few who were gathered. He was unsure of how they respond, given the student being put up for apprenticeship. But as the nods slowly came in, he could account for everyone in the room when he spoke, as there was not one dispute or raised voice.
“Very well,” came his loud and powerful sounding voice, the one which he would have used had he taken up the position of Grand Master, “we members of the Council believe that this is a suitable pairing and is the will of the Force. Jedi youngling Jon'arichi'kottok, from this day forward you will be the apprentice and padawan learner of Jedi Knight Meira Valli. Your attendance in class with no longer be required Arichi,” he smiled slightly to the boy. “May the Force be with the both of you.” He finished with an astute bow of the head. And with that, they were dismissed. It was never an elegant ritual like the Knighting ceremony, it was merely for any of the members of the Council to raise any queries, questions or concerns they may have about either the potential Master or student. Although there were rarely any rebuttals when it came to such requests.
Vreem was glad to see that both were walking the path of the Jedi with ample speed, and side by side, he would certainly be interested in their progress. And it made him think, perhaps he should reconsider taking on an apprentice…

The two stood in silence, surrounded by the discerning eyes of the Council. Even in small numbers, their presence was gigantic. Meira supposed that it could be intimidating, but she had no reason to feel that way. Meira had spent her entire life under the eye of more senior Jedi. She was comfortable under their gaze.
After a few moments of deliberation, one Master spoke. His words were directed to Arichi, commenting on what Meira was sure was on everyone’s mind. Her choice of apprentice was apparently a rarity, not only to the Jedi, but to the galaxy as well. No doubt the Order had kept an interest in the boy’s progress. No doubt that interest would continue. As the comment was made to Arichi, Meira remained silent. It would be his choice to respond, or not.
Then Master Took spoke, as Meira’s eyes once again returned to connect with his. He spoke for those Council members that were assembled, and announced the Council’s support. Arichi would be her apprentice. Meira smiled, and bowed from the waist in response to Master Took’s bow of the head. She then gave another bow to the rest of the Council members.
Thank you, Masters. She said. As it was not a particularly formal ceremony, she left it at that. Turning, she led her new padawan from then room. Their paths had now joined, becoming one. They would walk this single path together until it came time for them to part. Their time together would test them both, but Meira had confidence in Arichi, in herself, and in the Force.
