Melody merely smirked at Lanara’s question. The woman, who Melody had taken as someone who had no room for any sort of man, had just fallen under the spell of some Zeltron’s pheromones and what not. And Lana had been drinking nearly as much as Melody. The smuggler woman had to factor that in with the Zeltron’s ability to project sensually delightful emotions on others. On normal circumstances they were sensually pleasing, that is.
“You,” Melody finally replied to that old question she had left back on the dance floor. “Back there, my dear, just completely had a head over heel moment with that overzealous Xander. Just thought I’d let you know, since you asked back there. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I think your blond roots are getting to you.” She pulled off the response with a clever little grin and eyes that sparkled with good humor.
The smuggler lifted her water glass back to her lips and took a nice drink as if it were alcohol. It simply didn’t taste as good, that was all. She studied it for a moment as she lowered it back down. For a long moment, her mind was listening to that dark-haired man who sat beside her. His smile was perfect to look at, and he was simply charismatic. Melody lost herself to looking at the man again, before shoving somewhat unhealthy thoughts from her head and turning back to Lanara.
“Work, yes, work, we were supposed to be talking about what you asked about… earlier…” Or rather, we’re supposed to be talking about just work, since you asked, Melody thought, correcting herself.
It seems Melody was on the good side, since she looked back to seeing Lanara scowling for a moment at Xander. She could almost guess what was going through the other woman’s mind. It was the reason Melody didn’t like visiting Zeltros very much. Much of the time, some Zeltron thought you were hot stuff. One was always hoppin’ hot to take you somewhere and practice the newest styles of ‘making love’ as so many called it. And to do it, the near-human species could project unfaithful things into the brain. In fact, it was why Melody was flirting with an actual human. It gave her more ability to say a straightforward ‘no’.
“A merc group?” Melody raised an eyebrow at that. She had never been one for working in groups. Well, she hadn’t really tried. She’d worked with her father for a while, before he died, and she had considered him more a partner. She had also agreed to special cases to work with another individual once or twice. But, for the most part, the woman had stayed solo.
“I suppose so…” It wasn’t a BAD idea. Just until you find Eagle Strike, Mel, she told herself. “Do I have to audition or something? Or do you believe I can just ask nicely and put on my cute face?” A wide grin stretched across the contours of her face again.
