Her bored, almost painfully uninvolved mind suddenly snapped to the door as the doctor began to talk. At last! Something interesting was happening. Something that didn't involve long, pointless conversations and her sitting around waiting to be told she could have left a long time ago. Not that she would have known where she was going anyway. This place was like a maze to her, and although she would be quite happy to spend all of an hour wandering around it before becoming bored, the option being offered to her at the moment of going somewhere else was actually a lot more intriguing to her. Looking around, she found she had nothing with her, and hence nothing to grab as she made her way from the chair, passing the doctor with a grateful smile, and dimming the brightness of the grin a little as she came next to the soldier in the door. She deferred from making eye contact, feeling he'd probably incinerate her soul if she tried, and wandered out the door without a word, pausing in the corridor. No one else it seemed, and she sighed in relief. In her mind she was not sure why she had been so worried, but she believed it may have been to do with expecting betrayal. He was male, after all. And alien. "OK... an easy job huh? That better not be some sort of euphemism directed at me." She would have glared, but that meant looking at him, and instead she stared to the ground and followed after his movements.

Graffion Maruhuey sat down in the recreational room, all of the initial business taken care of. A few papers here, a few conversations there, and a quick physical. He'd checked out for everything. But right now, he was just hungry. He rose out of his seat, and started away from the room, the others barely giving him a glancing look before turning back to the television, some fight or another on and catching their interest.
Graffion stepped out of the halls and into the main office, walking confidently toward the front doors, he was stopped by the guards, "Where are you going, recruit?"
"Out." He replied simply, "For food."
The man held out a hand and said, "There's food in the fridge-"
"I'm not some loyal dog." Graffion spat back, "And nothings is truly official. If you insist on stopping me from going to get my food, you must really want to die."
The man stared for just a moment, as if in thought. He gave Graffion a quick look and pragmatism told him to move his hand before he lost it. Graffion smiled contentedly, putting his hand on the cold steel of the door-bar.

Dak barely hid the grin that tugged at his face. "No, of course not," he lied. "I just thought that you'd rather be out there, somewhere, doing something other then sitting around. C'mon, let's get to my ship; I'll get you all geared up on board."
He led the way to the elevator, and took it to the main floor. He just had to grab his NVG's... He had enough equipment on his ship, but he just liked to have those goggles. It was like a good-luck charm. He looked into the lobby as he walked by... And saw that the other new recruit, Maruhuey, about to walk out the door, and he overheard the word 'food'. He walked in, and put his hand on Maruhuey's shoulder just as the new recruit put his hand on the door. "Oh, no you don't. I've got a better idea..." He grinned. "Ever been to Taris?"
Okay, Thread officially closed for IC until Dak gets back. Should we make a thread for space on the way there, or just skip that and make one for Taris?
