Character Name: Akanmin Pema
Character Faction: Fringe
Number Of People Wanted: As many as are willing.
Reason For Roleplay: To craft an epic story, of course! I also intend this thread to introduce myself and my character to more established members of this site, and to provide a plot in which Fringe characters can easily participate and mingle with other groups.
Other: Characters of any type are welcome, but please, don't bring an army. This is meant to be an RP about the struggles of individuals, and having two characters wage their battles by throwing grunts at one another takes away from that feeling. A couple of supporting NPCs, fine; a Republic armored division, not so much.
The Plot: When Revan fell to the dark side, he acquired the Star Forge and the limitless fleets it could produce. His apprentice, Malak, saw only the benefits of the superweapon, and immediately began to plan to destroy Revan and steal it. Revan, however, saw the limitations of the Star Forge; it was stationary, and clever enemies would be able to discover it in the same way he had. If this ace in the hole should be destroyed, the crafty Sith Lord reasoned, he would be defeated and his campaign of galactic conquest ended, a possibility which he found greatly disturbing.
For this reason, he crafted a number of backup plans; if they never had to be used, he could always bring them forward to speed his conquest. His elite Jedi Hunters had already successfully turned many Jedi to the dark side through torture and manipulation, and these Dark Jedi would remain loyal to him even if he were to lose the Star Forge, but they alone could not invade a planet. He would need to raise a powerful fleet through more mundane means, specifically vast amounts of hard currency that could not easily be seized by his foes.
To help in such a situation, Revan created a series of hidden cashes across the galaxy, filled with valuables which he could reclaim if he should ever need the sort of fleet and army only money could provide. One of these cashes he filled with Beskar, the nearly-indestructible substance known to the larger galaxy as Mandalorian Iron, which he had seized in great quantity during the Mandalorian Wars, particularly at Malachor V. He commanded one of his most loyal Jedi Hunters, the Dashade warrior Kalavad Karan, to safeguard this cache, which he hid on the rugged Inner Rim planet of Bogden.
Malak betrayed Revan, causing him to be captured by the Jedi and beginning a sequence of events that led to the Sith Lord's redemption, the death of Malak, and the destruction of the Star Forge. Revan, his memory still fragmented, departed into the Unknown Regions. Kalavad Karan, loyal to the last, used the art of Sith Alchemy to enter suspended animation; it was inconceivable to him that the Dark Lord could die or turn from his cause, so he waited nearly four centuries for his master's return. Revan never did come back to reclaim his wealth, and the cache seemed doomed to fade from the memory of every sentient being in the galaxy.
It probably would have if not for the crash of a Republic privateering vessel, damaged after a skirmish with the modern Sith Empire. The Force must have had a hand in it all, for the starship's collision with the broken planet revealed the cache's entrance. When the crew investigated, the eternally dutiful Karan awoke from his trance and slaughtered them. Only one survived, a young Force-adept who sensed danger and fled. Yet before he did so, he laid eyes on the Beskar. Eventually, he escaped from Bogden and tried to organize an expedition to the cache; his skills were not enough to save him this time, and an assassin slew him, stole the coordinates, and sold them on the black market.
Several groups have now acquired the cache's location, and the race is on to reach it and defeat its terrible guardian. The winner of that race will acquire untold riches in Mandalorian Iron, and rumors persist that Karan also guards a list of the locations of several other such caches, each filled with more wealth than the last...
Closing Pitch: The above was inspired by KOTOR, several American Civil War novels, and the real-world Imperial Japanese holdouts. Have I piqued anyone's interest? If so, let me know by posting below. If not, let me know by posting below.
