I'm working on a character concept involving a smuggler and his droid. The issue I'm having is the droids name, as I've settled on a S19 astromech and modified him a bit over time. Any thoughts, oh great and powerful Mara? ^^;

Well, I guess it would depend on what you want to use as the droid's nickname, because sometimes their nickname (like Artoo for R2-D2) is simply the Basic form of their number, or a derivative of it (like, say, Ofi for 05 -- my droid on here), or simply they are called by their original designation (like Obi-Wan calls R4, R4).

Yea, on Wookiepedia it doesn't fall into any time period (or at least marked as such). As for the nickname, I've been scratching my head about it since "S19" isn't exactly one to roll off the tongue. I'd love to have another brain to pick in regards to options. ^^

Well, since S19 is more like the generic model, you'd probably need to add something after it to designate this specific droid. Since Wookieepedia doesn't really have examples, it's a bit open. So something like S19-44 or S19-G5 or whatever you want to do with it. And then maybe you could nickname off of that second part, or maybe both. Sometimes I'll think of a nickname first, and then find numbers/letters to match it. (I have one droid in another RP who goes by "Artie" and his designation is R2-D4... R-D = Artie.)

Or you could just give it a nickname unrelated to its designation. Like Chunky.
