Mara's Challenges: Help Build SWU Diversity

Well, basically, I thought I would post up some challenges, and hopefully increase the diversity of this forum. To where it's something like the real SW universe.

It'll be mostly, but not limited to, species that I find interesting...

And if someone here can realistically pull off a character with one of these traits or in one of these species, I will offer up 5-10 karma points for the member.

IDEA [POINTS VALUE] -- points value subject to change (When a unit reaches 5 points, that is the lowest, so once used, no more karma may be issued at that time... a unit with a higher value equals more karma opportunities)

Okay.... still working on it, but I think the species list is complete, so I'll unlock this for discussion.


If you want to, you can claim something-- to make sure there's not a dozen new characters then of one species, haha.

Or if you have thought of something, species or otherwise, that you would like to see on the forum and perhaps added to the list... you may do that, too.

Or if you think this is a stupid idea, you can post about that, too.

Not sure when I'm going to make a fourth character, but if I do get around to it, ... leaning towards Green Nikto at the moment.

As for species/jobs that I'd like to see... Trandoshans, Barabels, Quarren, Iridorian Mercs, and maybe various types of civilians.

Niktos are interesting... with the subspecies thing going on and everything. But Wookieepedia seems pretty detailed on that.

I think you mentioned a shortage of senators. Maybe businessmen whose companies don't deal in weapon/military equipment.

I remember Uziel wanting to create a character as the star wars version of hugh hefner, though i don't think he ever finished. That was pretty interesting. I suppose that falls under publisher?

Do I get any credit for having a character who's an obscure species AND deals in something other than weapons? *cough* Rn'Cherii *cough*

Seriously though, I think some Horansi might be cool. They have the subspicies thing going and they all look pretty different. I just wish there were more obscure, less-humanoid characters here. I know it's tough to play, but the fact of the matter is that not all sentient species stand on two legs and shake hands.

As for occupations I always thought a PI might be neat. A sort of detective or even just a police officer put onto homicide cases (cause 20 of those happen every day here) to possibly discourage such wanton slaughter many character go on.

You are right, Arh.... we need to branch out a bit... I could do some looking for non-humanoids.


I had been considering that... a police force. Maybe so that Jedi don't have to investigate everything?
Though, I think a PI would get more RP time, than a cop would.

Oh, I am so making my next character a Vahla...pure bendable awesomeness right there. Thank you for reminding me they existed.

And while a Dark Jedi duelist-type that can bend completely over backwards is rather appealing, and I'm also kind of wary about two untrained Force-sensitives in a row, a military/civilian information retrieval specialist would just be cool.

...I hate decisions. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, if anybody has any idea whether or not this site takes place before or after the whole Ember of Vahl getting decimated by the Jedi thing happened, that would be good to know. Can't seem to find anything beyond "Several thousand years before the time of the Sith-Imperial War", and that's not very descriptive.

I had just the same problem with the Vahla, and it was bothering me to no end! I couldn't find a more detailed date anywhere.


This looks great! Ha, do Selonians count as obscure species? I'm pretty sure I've one of the very, very few on this site.... X)

As for new charries, I think I might make a Gotal... fascinating abilities, there. Hmmm... Prolly take me a while, though, so I call semi-dibs. X)

Yeah, Draethos are 10, for now. If more are made, their points value decreases.

I'm already making a Celebrity, hee hee, I have the race as human right now because I can't find the one I'm looking for but I'll find it soon enough.

I was thinking you need some low class jobs for Civilians too, like Garbagemen, or delivery boys, or like I got fast food workers
