A heavy gun has been installed to the topside and a long range comms unit. Being as it's original porpoise was to defend small stations and outposts, Kyle also modified the engines to help him get from point A to point B slightly faster.

With an Eight in Armor, then Speed would be lower than Six. The Armor would slow the ship down quite a bit. Also, and Eight in armor is something that capital ships would have, not sure about a freighter.
Also, "Personal Defense Craft" is a bit vague. Something like Freighter or Gunboat would be more preferable.

I would still say a seven in armor is still too much for a six in speed and maneuverability. This ship is trying to do everything at once. Good guns, good armor and shielding, good speed and maneuverability. I'm not seeing a weakness beyond it's size and reliability. Also, with all those guns, I would add at least one more crew.
I'm going to be honest here; I don't see the reliability as much of a weakness. It's like the Falcon and it's reliability. Sure, it's inconvenient. It always pops up at the worst times. But it's always fixable and the good guy always gets away.
Something's gotta give. (And once it does, maybe that reliability can come up.)

You were close but not spot on, Indiana. The stats are split into two groups: fighters up to medium freighters, and heavy freighters up to dreadnoughts. I'll make that more clear when I do some edits on the application tonight.
-Like Ray said, the ion engines are powered by an ion reactor. Fuel cells are a vaguer sort of thing as they can either mean a traditional liquid fuel like those used in rockets today, or fuel rods that power a fission reactor.
-What exactly is the assault cannon?
-I need the number of missiles it carries in its launchers.
