Planet Name: Trehavay
Planet Type: Desert/Plains/Ocean
Habitable: Yes
System: Treh System, Mid-Rim
Terrain Overview: Once considered a desolate land by anyone who happened upon it in the Mid-rim, the planet has long been home to a dominant humanoid species and a plethora of plains and desert creatures. The plains are a small feature of the planet as a whole, only a few scatter the planet and they're all close to the oceans.
Notable Geographic Features: There are a few sparse locations where the desert gives way to slight plains and minute lakes. Here is where the nomadic local humanoids make their rare hubs of commerce. One of which is geologically defended by the planet's only naturally formed raise in earth, thus creating a high crescent of rock-face with but one means in. Within is a sizable lake and plains, it is approximately five miles in diameter. This location marks the capital city of the whole planet and its four thinly-connected continents (the continents themselves are what are thin, each continent is divided by ocean).
The planet also has trace amounts of hyperbarides in scattered places about the planet and sizable bronzium deposits.
Capital City: Drengo-vah
Major cities: Brengo-tay, Drengo-vah, Sareep-lah
Sentient species: Shteef, various other galaxy sentients
Non-Sentient species of note:
Since discovery, the more dominant species have been standard galactic species that are generally found on plains and desert. Many of the ocean-faring species have not been researched or cataloged.
Currently, the planet is inhabited almost exclusively by Shteef, while the non-sentient population is comprised of a good 50/50 blend of natives species and imported. Neither species is more adapted to the environment than the others, the native species has only adapted to its home enough to get by.

History:
Prior to 5,000 BBY
The sentient race of Shteef had been simply neutral nomadic peoples who rarely ran into any disputes, least of those being concerning borders. They lived simple, harmonious and technologically-decent lives. Their technology was consistently at least 2000 years behind the rest of the galaxy, which was closed to them, and had never once considered the stars as a location from which others could come. Things progressed easily for them, and to them, the way life was was the way it had always been, their small numbers made the chances of being detected from space neigh impossible. A simple crash-landing changed all that.
5,000 BBY to 4,500 BBB
A ship had faced malfunctions and was forced to crash-land on the seemingly desolate and tactically disadvantageous planet, leaving its exploration unwarranted and unnecessary to a galaxy that had bigger fish to fry. The landing caused a disturbance with the nearby three nomadic tribes, who converged to find a barely living human and his duros companion and their strange vessel that could navigate the stars. The duros was a starship expert and the human was quite the technology whiz. After feeding them, staying nearby to inspect the strange ship and attempting as long as they could to learn the other's language, six months brought them to the point of bare minimum mutual gesture and Basic-heavy language. The two groups had much to teach each other.
In the period of five years, the three tribes of nomads had learned Basic, and the wayfarers had learned the planet-wide language of Shtef. The people's ship had also been repaired enough to fly and reach hyperspace, thanks to a very well placed (crash) landing. The wayfarers promised to return with more and learn more about these people. 495 years passed without a single return.
The language of Basic was passed down from generation to generation as well as the hope of star-travel. Soon, with the tribes intermingling and the wild tales, all on the planet were taught to speak both Basic and Shtef, due to the allure that the language held for these long-lived people.
Then they returned.
4,500 BBY to 4,000 BBY
They brought three ships this time on an exploratory campaign searching for some "long-lost" planet. They had heard the tales that fell on once-deaf ears by a human and a duros, and followed the breadcrumbs to locate Trehavay, as the locals called the planet in Basic. They were astonished to find that the locals spoke decent Basic and with that, they were connected to the rest of the galaxy at dizzying speeds.
They constructed permanent settlements, and the planet gained starports at each of these three new settlements, one of which, a well fortified location, became the capital of the planet, and ushered in a simple planet-wide government. Each nomadic tribe's chief would be a representative at a large council while a "president" elected by and among these chiefs stayed and presided over these councils within this capital city of Drengo-Vah. Their tribe would stay with them until the president died and a new chief would be appointed to the position. This chief was to manage all Galactic concerns, and when the time came that the Republic requested the planet join them, they politely declined.
So technology and interactions grew with the Shteef and the Galaxy, though they did not mingle with the affairs of the galaxy and their Jedi and Sith. Their discovered Force-sensitives during this time were too neutral to agree to leave for the Jedi Temple and be forced into a doctrine they did not believe.
In time, the technology of the planet would be that of a backwater planet, getting second-hand or second-rate technology and starships. Economy grew from the hyperbaride and bronzium mining that took place on the planet. From there, trade and such became a steady and slight one, the Shteef handled the off-worlders in a manner that did not cause them to become a ghost-town of a planet in these short years.
4,000 BBY to Present
The Great Sith War saw a decreased interest in the out-of-the-way planet, and left their people to be a small blip on the galactic radar, the wars that followed only had a similar effect. Though the Shteef had migrated throughout the galaxy fairly well and successfully as any common species might also be, the planet itself remained as it had those many years ago. The power of the government on-planet was minuscule, while the nomadic peoples found their lives unchanged, with the exception of the option to migrate from their planet.
It wasn't uncommon for a Shteef to leave, and with trade minimal, things were simple as they had been, with the exception of two dusty old cowboy-esque cities with starports and a captial city that was the hub for inter-galactic relations and those Shteef - who found the wanderer lifestyle their species had long and still enjoyed - who wanted more in life. It sees occasional commerce and traffic. Combine this with the non-existence of industry, and the planet holds little value to anyone not looking to potentially not be found.
From the year 3,720 BBY to the year 3,620 BBY (18 years ago), Jedi Watchmen would visit the planet in hopes of securing a kind-faced foothold for the Republic. They found their efforts to be in vain and ceased their regular sending of the Jedi.
It was also during this time that the planet constructed their defense system around the planet, a force capable of merely warding off pirate attacks and keeping general air-space peace.
