With the sudden aggression of the Mandalorians against the rest of the galaxy came the need for new ships for their fleets. The MRD-12 Assault Frigate is a modular ship capable of taking on different roles, depending on what weapons are attached to it. Because the Mandalorians have limited resources, the MRD-12 allowed them to adapt to different situations without needing to build too many ships. From Anti-fighter roles, planetary bombardment, or even simple cargo hauling (The weapons and ammunition may be removed completely), the MRD-12 is the Manda’ade’s answer to them all.
The MRD-12 has numerous weapon compartments scattered on its exterior. When not in use, these compartments, which are mostly the same size, are sealed off. Each armament made for the ship has a part that is specifically tailored to fit into these slots, connecting them to the ship's targeting systems and ammunition holds, where munitions are belt-fed into certain weaponry. When the units need to be replaced, they are simply pulled out and a new type of armament is put in. The MRD's entire weapon system may be changed in a matter of minutes.
The MRD-12 is mainly constructed on Concordia's Shipyards, formerly shipyards of the Republic, as the mines on Mandalore's moon can belch out the vast number of resources needed to build hundreds of this ship and its weapon systems.
