Name: Rin
Race: Miraluka
Age: 29
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 118lbs.
Appearance: With her long, lean, thin set frame she carries herself with an uncanny willowy poise and refinement. She has a very soft, fair complexion with angular facial features; which contrasts with her shoulder-length silky, dark brunette hair. It would not be too much to say she is a lovely woman -- the soft, delicate features of her visage is a comely thing to look upon.
Often dressed completely in white, she typically wears a white sleeveless tunic with a hood drawn far like a veil to hide her eyeless sockets which was also covered by black silk blind fold she wore under the hood. The white pants she wears are fitted with a thick, long flowing red clothe sash and a simple sash over it -- both tied snuggly around her slim waist with a heavy leather Jedi utility belt over the two sashes that has her double-bladed lightsaber is clipped to it. The pant-legs she keeps nicely tucked into her formal dark brown leather boots that have a sort of officer's formal uniform style to them. On both her hands she wears a pair of thick, heavy leather black gauntlets. Lastly around her neck was a bright silver pendant on a thin silver chain necklace that she wears at all times.
Personality: Though a genuinely kind person deep at heart, there is a certain severity to her. Often speaking with blunt unforgiving words, or expressing a bit too much candor when speaking. Some of her contemporaries find her to be a bit of a blunt object when speaking her mind. It is an entirely unconscious action on her part, and deep down does feel a twinge of guilt when catching herself being overly critical in expressing her dislike or disapproval of something, or not being encouraging enough. A personality flaw within herself she tries to correct, but at times finds herself falling short of her own expectations... They are not the only times she finds herself falling short of the expectations she and others expect of her... at least in her mind.
A past darkness seems to consistantly loom over her or weigh her down, as if holding in something that burdens her. She had fallen to the dark side once in her young life, and it lasted for a few years. It affected her deeply, and left her shaken to her core, unnerving her resolve. It is something to this day she still battles within herself to rise above it, and earnestly attempts to better herself. The young Knight's conviction because of it seems to have been addled in her own mind, though it is often her own insecurities that drives her to feel that way; and this too often proves being a driving force behind her own inward conflict. Continuously she sees it as a wrong she must right, and often is the first to admit she is not a model Jedi -- only that she seeks to be one. Often acknowledging her flaws in order to correct them, believing that otherwise there would be no point in acknowledging them at all.
These inward problems and issues however is often what compels her to fulfilling her own duty. For someone so desperate to correct themselves and step beyond what they see as a cataclysmic failure in themselves -- taking severe, unwavering actions are often done out of attempts to move beyond it. Though possessing a clear vision for the path of the light she believes she must walk, her philosophies are often among the unorthodox of tradition. Yet, contradictory to those unorthodox beliefs of hers, the stance she generally takes is more in line with a traditional line of thought. Yet, even a bit hypocritically from that, the course of action she takes is usually an aggressive one counter to tradition.
All of this she contains within herself behind a stoic, cold mask as she takes on her anti-social disposition to hide behind, while she is a bit of a walking mass of complexes...

Bio:
If your line had a dark family secret, would you want to know it?
If that secret was truly evil, would you want to confront it?
The Jedi Knight in question, her full name is Rin Isas, though her family name wound up being abandoned when she became part of the Order. Her family line has been tied to the Luka Sene for many generations, but where her story begins to take its real turn of significance was with her grandmother. Her grandmother, a Luka Sene by the name of Niha Isas, who married young to a fellow Luka Sene, and they had one child within the first three years of marriage. Tragically, only a year after her child was born her husband died in a shuttle accident. Though, she wound up not being burdened as a single-parent as her son proved to be strong with the Force, she gave him up to the Jedi Order to be trained at the Culu Memorial Center naturally to become a Jedi. Niha would later remarry to a "grey Jedi" by the name of Marcus Syclya, whose former dark master would later murder her and the family she started with Marcus in their home on Bothawui; though the body of her young daughter was never found amongst the carnage at the scene.
But, her son from her first marriage lived on to serve as Jedi at the Culu Memorial Center on Alpheridies. He gained a good friend, Xyse, initially trained as a Jedi Shadow, but his Jedi career would take a bit of a turn from that path becoming the Jedi Watchman of the Abron System upon his reaching Knighthood. Whereas Niha's son, Liane, however would prove to be like his mother, and before he finished his Jedi training wound up leaving the Order to marry a Luka Sene he fell in love with, a young woman named Beras. By the end of their first year of marriage they had a daughter whom they named Rin. Shortly after Rin was born they moved off Alpheridies to Dantooine.
It is not unique or unknown (at least within the Order) that Luka Sene or educated Miraluka who were not Force-sensitive enough to become Jedi would instead become academic teachers among the Order if such a position was not already held by a master. Liane on the other hand while he may have left the Order was not necessarily a Luka Sene despite having studied amongst them, but did become one of the academic teachers (Civics primarily) at the Enclave. While his wife Beras raised their daughter in their remote home out in the plains of Dantooine.
Yet the young Isas family it seemed could not evade the same dark fate that befell Niha's household on Bothawui. When Rin was but a four year old child, there was something dark that had come to Dantooine, something evil and vile in presence as it hid upon the surface of the vast farming colonist planet. The dark shadow after a few days, suddenly struck out against the Isas household. While Laine may have been trained as a Jedi, he left the Order when he was still only eighteen years of age, and even then he was more the scholar than warrior -- he was no match for the dark shadow who proved to be a dark practitioner of terrible caliber. Poor Beras -- Luka Sene are known scholars and educators, not warriors -- she never stood a chance. It was then to the little girl, Rin, that the dark shadow turned to, but she felt the inevitable approach of several Jedi to which she knew not all she could stand against and fight with hope of survival, especially with a four year old in tow -- thus she fled the scene and was never found afterward.
Rin had never encountered Jedi before this moment, and when the Jedi who chased after her parents murderer eluded them, it was left to question what to do with her. However, they perceived her to be Force-Sensitive, but more so than the average Miraluka, one with the potential to be a Jedi with time and training. She was taken to the Enclave and tested, and there proved to be a strong enough case to study to be a Jedi there at the Enclave. It was not as if there was much other choice for her, she had no family left to speak of to care for her.
Even as young as she was she tended to distance herself from the other children. Not unsurprising for a child who experienced the trauma of seeing her parents violently murdered before her at the tender age of four years. But as a youngling within the Order, she went to her classes and studied well, she was never at the top of her classes -- generally doing well, if not at least average. Her primary roadblock for those first few years at the Enclave was her anti-social tendencies of isolating herself from others.
Yet, there was one notable exception. One of the younger students, Tahlia, Rin had taken a shine to and vice versa. Whatever their past, their fate seemed to be mirrored, and sisterly quality seemed to form between them -- it was clear that a Force bond was forming between them. So few recognize just how powerful circumstance is, and how it can link individuals together who have shared circumstances like their own. For Rin, Tahlia was the only friend she had.
Yet, by the time Rin had turned twelve years old, she begun becoming a bit nervous as if a master did not choose her to be their padawan soon, she would be relegated to one of the Jedi Service Corps. But that is when she met Xyse for the first time. When he learned his old friend had been murdered along with his wife and his daughter was being raised and trianed within the Enclave of Dantooine, he watched her from afar studying her progress. But, he was not sure if he himself was ready to take on an apprentice, yet. Though, as Rin drew closer to turning thirteen years of age, he decided to step beyond his own concerns, and give Rin a chance to make the same choice her father did, to walk the path he denied himself; but Xyse believed Rin should be given the opportunity to continue to walk it should she want to. So he went to Dantooine, and took Rin under his wing as his Padawan learner; and so for the first time since her birth Rin returned to her homeworld, Alpheridies, to serve as its Watchman's apprentice.
During Rin's training, especially as she begun to reach her teenage years she often proved to take very aggressive stances in regards to lightsaber training. Xyse thought it interesting in a way, because typically the girl possesses such an apathetic mien to see her become so forceful in training and duels he did not initially expect to see from her. It was apparent to him that Rin's forte lay within the more martial aspects of the Jedi arts, leaning toward the lightsaber and physical combat, and augmenting herself through the Force to make herself a more fierce martial combatant.
It was not unlike himself really, and made it that much easier to teach her. Swift, agile, and hard-hitting attacks forcing an opponent to always be on their toes, improvising to the moment, forcing them to react to her rather than she to them, that became her style. But adding to it, this was exclaimed also when teaching her hand to hand combat techniques, utilizing her swift and agile attacks to unleash an unrelenting offensive to push her opponent back against the wall; or at least, that being the goal and intention behind her style. But, what also fostered this was teaching her to hold such an unwavering focus over the years, which was in fact for her to eventually develop the Force technique Battlemind. Something he always believed turned a good lightsaber duelist into a great one.
However, throughout the years of his training her, whether within or outside of combat, he highly emphasized subtlety. Something of a unique and uncommon ability, even within the Jedi Order, Force Cloak -- the very disciplines within telepathy required for learning and using it he wanted her to incorporate into her method and the path she walked and would walk as a Jedi. Though, even the fundamentals of being able to utilize the technique with the amount of focus and will within the Force it takes to use it, it would not be for another decade or so that she would reach the point of being able to actually do the technique.
Seeing her training develop in such a way, even as far back as her preteen years, when she hit 14 years old and he decided it was time for her to create her lightsaber, it was really not too surprising to him what sort of lightsaber it was she created. At the Culu Memorial Center, he had her choose a crystal at random amongst several he displayed before her. She was immediately drawn to a blue crystal, one of the more traditional. For creating her lightsaber he took her out to the vast plains of Alpheridies beyond where the Culu Memorial Center rests, and there he left her on her own to construct her lightsaber from whatever she could find out in the wilds of the plains.
For a couple weeks she was on her own foraging and scevenging for materials (aside from food to survive) in which to construct her lightsaber with, and piece by piece, bit by bit, it was built. The lightsaber being a double-bladed lightsaber, which is unique for a Jedi to construct let alone a young padawan. But it reaffirmed to Xyse of Rin's natural tendency to take on a more antagonistic, hardline, and confrontational style of martial prowess; which is precisely what a double-bladed lightsaber is built for (as well as the smattering of Ataru philosophy she knew) and often demands when wielded.
How Xyse went about helping her develop her lightsaber style was in fact using Niman form itself as the basis and foundation with Ataru philosophy. The wisdom behind doing so was that because Niman is a blending of all styles granting it no strength or weakness, it served well for those developing the more untraditional styles -- which double-bladed lightsaber combat is fairly unorthodox, especially having only been around for a few centuries -- it does not necessarily have a formal practice within the Order. Form VI provides that opportunity for Rin to gradually develop her own over time as she hones her own talents as a lightsaber duelist. Ataru philosophy of aggression through speed to keep the duelist's opponent on their feet and against the proverbial wall was utilized as point of inspiration for developing the form without utilizing any of Ataru's techniques themselves.
Though it was during Rin's teenage years that there were some peculiar stirrings within the Abron system itself as well as the systems closest to it. Xyse often contacted the Jedi Shadows within the area to investigate these disturbances within the Force sense they always seemed to be dark in nature. Yet, so often, the investigations he and Rin did along side the Jedi Shadows would turn up nothing.
Though, Xyse started to become concerned with his apprentice from time to time, largely because Rin took to studying some of the more darker arts, and even had a slight aptitude for it. Eventually it reached the point Xyse was slightly disturbed by Rin's intellectual curiosity for such things. But, Rin still a very self-assured young girl in her mid-teens merely brushed it all aside each and every time. Telling him that the dark side techniques are a tool and weapon, and like such it needs to be respected, and those who fall did not respect it enough leading to their own demise. Xyse to say the least did not care for this cavalier posture Rin was taking in regard to utilizing dark side techniques. It troubled him if nothing else for the very fact so many Padawans have gone astray for having the same disposition, and nor did he want to see his own fall victim to the same.
The two often found themselves in heated debates on the subject over the years. He would tell her that the Jedi Code speaks only of the light as what one should follow. She would retort it speaks nothing of the light, it only speaks of the Force -- and there is two sides to it, the light side of the Force and the dark side of the Force. He would argue having once been a Jedi Shadow it was his duty to destroy the dark side. She would reply it was his duty to destroy its abuses and blatant dangers. He would caution that it is a dangrous thing to not treat the dark side with immense regard. She would return saying to understand the Force one must understand the contrast -- the light and the dark, its protections and its dangers -- the Force is neither inherently good or evil, it is how one uses it. And so on their debates and arguments would go.
Perhaps it was him being naive, but while he was troubled by Rin's casual view in studying dark side abilities, he did not feel it was to the extent he needed to inform another Jedi Master about, or cease or alter her training. It came off more that he was perhaps more orthodox while she was more liberal when it came to such things. After all, he knew far more than one Jedi Knight that he felt touched upon the dark arts and techniques of the Force more than he felt comfortable with yet they never succumbed to the dark side. It could just be he was merely getting old; and maybe he took this a bit more personally because it was his Padawan and the daughter of deceased friend in this regard.
Within a neighboring system to the Abron system, the few Jedi Shadows out of the Culu Memorial Center caught wind another dark disturbance mirroring those of the past. Rin -- seventeen years old by this time, Xyse wanted to investigate this disturbance for himself, and thus had Rin in tow. What was discovered was a recently abandoned encampment of dark practitioners, and from what they could tell during their investigation the dark practitioners disbanded from the encampment not long before their arrival.
The other Jedi Shadows went off in their own directions leading them off of the planet to folllow their own investigations from what they discovered at the abandoned encampment. For Xyse and Rin it led them to one of the planet's larger port cities, but what they believed to be them tracking likely dark side practitioners of the abandoned encampment -- it was actually them being led into an ambush. Before they understood what was truly happening they found themselves in a waylay with a talented Dark Jedi Knight within a shipyard.
During the battle whispers crawled within Rin's mind, distracting her, disorienting her. The voice of the whispers were dark and oozed with the dark side itself, it sounded akin to her own voice, quite similar, but not exactly. Its tone carried a more unhinged mind behind than her own -- but their voices were very alike. Every bit of temptation of the darkness poured into her mind as she fought the Dark Jedi along side her master. Xyse could see something was wrong with his apprentice, but before he could do anything to help her the Dark Jedi used the Force to telekinetically push him beyond the doors of a hangar within the shipyard. The moment Xyse sprung to his feet the immense doors were sealed. With the heavy thud of the hangar doors sealing, the Dark Jedi used Force Lightning to destroy the control mechanism to open them manually on his side, which also shorted out the circuits to the control mechanicism on Xyse's side.
An overwhelming sense of dread washed over Xyse as he looked about the hangar he found himself trapped within. All three of the alternate exits/entraces within the hangar were heavily sealed and blocked. The hangar doors themselves he could cut through, but with how thick they were, even with a lightsaber it would take time. Time he did not have as his apprentice fought the Dark Jedi Knight, and it was then he understood -- it was not an ambush in order to eliminate them. It was an ambush to separate them -- isolating Rin...
He did not waste another moment beginning to cut through the hangar doors. What with the sealed and blocked off state of the alternate exits with numerous heavy crates covering them, it would take more time -- he was a lightsaber combatant more than anything -- telekinesis was not exactly his area. But he mused whoever put those objects before the other exits must have been more powerful with telekinesis than the Dark Jedi Knight judging by the Dark Jedi's own strength with the Force and the strength behind his Force Push... The Dark Jedi Knight's Master was still out there... utter fear washed over him as he realized that is what was destracting Rin, the Master was in her mind. His hastening to cut open the hangar doors only quickened. He attempted to reach out to Rin with his mind, but something shielded her mind from him... something dark... something evil.
Whispers ran through the young Padawan's mind still, speaking of her inner-most doubts, insecurities, supressed hatreds, frustrations, and fears. The Dark Jedi found himself struggling a little against Rin, something was beginning to fuel her and he did not know what it was. But, there was more, at times he felt his own actions fracture almost as if negated by her own motions. He did not know or understand what, but something was making this girl summon up an inner-strength and insight. All the while the whispers in Rin's mind taunted her, told her a little secret of her past and heritage that fractured her to the core. Telling her what she decended from, telling her where her aptitude for the dark mysteries of the Force spawned from deep within her. Finally, convincing her that as a Jedi she is a lie unto herself.
The young girl found herself inevitably broken by the dark will that invaded her thoughts and gripped her mind as she broke out with a dark rage and will of her own. She fought the Dark Jedi Knight with a fury and hatred she had never known. A hatred that did not spawn from anything other than herself, a self-loathing of herself -- of her own inadequacies and weaknesses. An inner-pain that served as the core of a dark source of power in one sense. Though, it was not necessarily that she suddenly became more powerful, for that would suggest the darkness is stronger than the light. Really, what this did was cause her to be filled with a surge of aggressive emotions that lead her to fight at her very pique, but like any other person who has fallen to the dark side, it lasts only so long until they destroy themselves in their rampage.
Not many Jedi use double-bladed lightsabers, but as what has been said Rin often preferred to take on more aggressive actions in combat with swift, light-footed actions. In fact, Xyse used to joke she barely kept her feet on the ground when training or dueling. The double-bladed lightsaber suited her and its combat style and lightsaber form she grasped very strongly. Upon her fall to the dark side as she fought the Dark Jedi it showed immensely. The two fought evenly toe to toe until suddenly he retreated without so much of a word, she chased him for a ways to no avail having lost him within the shipyard. Rin found herself still trembling with adrenaline from the battle, she enjoyed it, the thrill of it, and from every negative feeling she felt to her core -- she drank up ever bit of power her inner-darkness provided her like a glutton -- the rush, the temptation... the seduction was too much for the young Padawan to withstand.
She stood there for a trice dwelling upon what she has discovered herself to be, but it was only a trice later she felt her master escape the hangar that served as his prison. The whispers in her mind warned her if he found her as she is, as the transmogrified being she has become, he would kill her as he does all of those who reach the greatness she has. The girl felt these words to be true, despite the lie they were. Without any further hesitation, she fled. It is said when a master or student falls to the dark side, their Force Bond will weaken or even completely disconnect. Such became the case for Xyse and Rin, he could not feel her presence any longer through the bond they once shared; and something evil -- a malevolent presence loomed over the city itself. It seemed to be casting a shadow over Rin that prevented him from perceiving her through the Force. She had become lost to him.
The whispers within Rin's mind never left during her dark times. Coming to her at her most vulnerable moments leading her further astray, leading further down the dark path, leading her deeper into the abyss to drown in her own misery. She kept to the Expansive Regions that she was familiar with do to her travels with Xyse. Even though it was a slice of the galaxy that Xyse himself was familiar with as well, there are a lot of systems within the Expansive Region and as its name implies, it is a very large area of the galaxy. Her wanderings were her posing as a refugee to travel from one place to the next.
During her time of dark solitude she fostered and learned more about the dark strength she found within herself. Often training with it, honing it -- the voice -- the whisper would come to her at times during those moments to give helpful guidance in understanding her darker talents. Though, these were not the only times when the dark whisper would come to her at seemingly random times. A group of people, an antagonizer, a random individual, a criminal... it varied really... but every now and again when Rin laid eyes on such a person... the voice would speak to her. It would convince to do things... terrible things... to these individuals... tormet... cruelties.. abuses... torture. The point of these lessons the voice would give to her was never to kill, unless Rin felt the compulsion too strongly, but rather... to break them... To crack open their outward facade and reveal how feeble such creatures are -- smaller, lowlier than she, and she deserved her place above them so long as she proved the stronger.
A few years had past since her fall while the voice crawling within her mind helped foster Rin's talents and abilities, enabling her to grow and expand within the dark. Xyse never gave up looking for his wayward apprentice in that time, his only desire was to save his student. It was a difficult task to say the least as a darkness seemed to continually shroud her as he would try to gaze through the Force to find her. Adding to the difficulty she knew his investigatory and tracking methods from their years together as master and student, and she knew he would be seeking her out; and she managed to cover her trail well. It furthermore did not help his cause as the various arts, disciplines, and subtleties he trained her in she utilized to evade him as well; and though she at this point still did not possess the ability to use the technique Force Cloak -- nevertheless, blending within crowds and moving unnoticed -- those lessons stuck with her well.
The cat and mouse game went on for three years of Rin managing to evade her master's hunting her. It was in a space station colony floating within an astroid belt. Just by looking at the girl as she had been pulled down so far into in the abyss, he knew her mind to be maleadjusted and warped against herself. He could see it in very shades of her aura and countenance through the Force of his heritage's sight. To a Jedi who can see only in the physical, her fall was apparent as well, her eyes were marked by the dark side's malevolent yellow hue, and her complexion had become a faint grayish pallor. A powerful darkness continued to loom over the twenty year old, shrouding her mind from his own so he could not reach out to her through telepathy. The moment he even tried, his apprentice struck out against him.
Fighting Rin was the last thing he wanted to do, for two reasons, he did not want to bring his apprentice to any harm, and if also being guided by the dark evil manipulating Rin's mind, it will make her an even greater danger. His most primary concern on top of all of this was the colonists, for where they stood in that very moment was within an expansive market courtyard of the colony. Many innocents gathered there to buy and trade goods, this is not some place he wished to face someone such as Rin with her swift, aggressive fighting style, especially fallen as she was.
Master and apprentice clashed against another, and it was in this moment he found his hypothesis that the girl had been receiving tutelage from whatever darkness that held her was proven true. Fighting her was identical to fighting the couple the Dark Jedi Knights he had fought in days past, just as strong -- just as tenacious, but her mind was had a focus behind it those he had faced in days now long gone did not.
A powerful dark fury or rage seemed to have a stronghold upon her as well, pushing her to even stronger degrees as she fed and drank upon the dark resolve and strength. There is power within ones ire and ferocity should one be inclined to draw upon and drink from the rivers of it that flowed through them; and the voice within Rin's mind had long been nurturing her to do just that since the dark side took hold of her, though still untempered as her rage was.
As a lightsaber duelist an undestracted, honed, keen mind was the most deadly thing on the battlefield. The Force technique of Battlemind he had begun teaching her from the day she became his apprentice nearly a decade ago. He also knew simply disarming her would not fully do the trick, either. He often preached only fools rely on tools and weapons to save their lives; and thus also since day one of her becoming his apprentice he trained her in the Order's martial art Broken Gate. The girl was nothing shy of a strong martial combatant, especially since having fallen to the dark side -- it seemed to make her a bit more potent. Xyse was largely grateful for his years of experience and more honed technique and clarity over her. More so with her being unhesitant to throw a jab or kick to rattle Xyse the moment an openning presented itself. His back more often than not was against the wall, for Rin had the advantage in that he was trying to avoid harming her as much as possible, while she was attempting to kill him with every shred of her ability.
During their battle Xyse lead Rin down an allyway to avoid the potential of any innocents being killed during their fight, and he thanked the Force none did. Their fight was long and hard, despite Rin's talents and fighting at her very pique with the guidance of the dark hand directing her, her skill was still not enough to completely match Xyse. The very second Xyse found his opennning, he struck at Rin with a technique he had never truly mastered nor was very good at to begin with, but he knew it would sever the dark tendrils that grasped Rin's mind tightly. He struck Rin with the Jedi technique known as Force Light, but because of his lackluster ability with it, he could not abolish the dark side within Rin, but only sever the hidden Dark Jedi Master's hold over his apprentice.
Rin herself had no defense against such a technique, and despite Xyse's lack of ability with it, once the Dark Master's hold on Rin was lost, the Padawan fell unconscious. With Rin defeated and back in his care, Xyse took her back home to the Culu Memorial Center. It was there she was taken to recover from the Dark Master's severe mental manipulations and continue her training with her master. The entire ordeal left Rin shaken to her core, and disturbed by the acts she committed while under the Dark Master's mental sway and control. Some nights the poor girl cried herself to sleep immensely traumatized by her experiences. It also had other effects on her as well, for do to the combination of being heavily dominated by the Dark Master within her mind, and Xyse's shakey ability with Force Light, when the telepathetic connection between Rin and the Dark Master was severed, it also completely shattered her ability to shield her mind from outside telepathic influence. Ironically, in a way, making her more vulnerable and open to telepathic invasion.
During her recovery other than her own master when seeking guidance, she turned to the Luka Sene to study. For Luka Sene have worked with and even on occasion served the Jedi Order for a very long time; and upon Alpheridies with the Jedi Enclave -- the Culu Memorial Center -- this was only more so the case. She found grounding in the Luka Sene's meditative doctrines and philosophies, while expanding upon the Miraluka's perceptions of sight through the Force honing them to be sharper beyond the norm.
It took Rin a little over a year to feel comfortable enough to return to working with her master once again on assignment aiding him in his Watchman duties. Though shaken as she was, she was determined not to remain a victim, and willed herself forward on the path of becoming a Jedi in full. Her ideals changed little, though understandably since her fall, she had become quite a bit more cautious in regards to her disposition toward dark side techniques or studying them. Though, perhaps, it is part of her arrogant apathy that is inherent to her natural personality that prevented her from admitting that she was wrong.
In the end it was more of a philosophical and intellectual perception than that of treading upon the unholy. Force abilities are neither inherently good or evil, as she believed, it boiled down to how own used them. As she experienced first hand, the ability to manipulate ones mind through the Force which is a common practice to even Jedi, can equally be used for evil intent or purpose. The darker arts as she understood them came from aggression and malicious intent, but aggression is not inherently evil, and one can control and moderate their aggression. What it always boils down to is self-control and ones own principles.
In a way, her becoming a Jedi Knight at the age of twenty-two was more of a formality than anything after the Council of the Culu Memorial Center having watched her recover and grow since her ordeal a couple years prier. Her being able to go toe to toe with a fully trained Jedi Knight stronger than she was truly a proving of her ability and endurance to fulfill the Trial of Skill and Body, and has since become even more honed. Her Trial of Spirit being having fallen to the dark side under the sway of a Dark Master, and despite being saved by Xyse, the fact the temptations of the dark side did not hold her upon being released from the Dark Master's grip and turned away from it was proof of her conviction to the light, though Rin never truly being convinced of it deep down. Perhaps, a lesson for another time.
The years after becoming a Jedi Knight in full, Rin begun following in her master's footsteps in a way. She begun her career as a Jedi Knight by becoming a Jedi Shadow, seeking out and abolishing or containing sources of dark influence in the galaxy. Often leading her to work as an investigator along her master's side, but her duties often also taking her to other places across the galaxy. By this time finally having learned to utilize the unique technique, Force Cloak, while not necessarily great with it -- still as a Jedi Shadow learned to use it effectively during her duties.
Albeit, Rin never did loose contact with her childhood friend Tahlia, and upon becoming a Jedi Shadow it was not uncommon for her to give Tahlia a visit at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Uniquely, their bond always seemed to remain strong. But, how Rin went out to aid Tahlia at Druckenwell without the least bit of hesitation, it spoke volumes for how much Rin had recovered. More so, that only Tahlia's safety and survival was the only thing on Rin's mind, and despite being shaken from what she suffered, she rose above it to save those who mattered to her. To save what was important.
The following year was a surreal one. Xyse had mysteriously disappeared after traveling deep into the Unknown Regions, while on investigation. Rin had remained at the Culu Memorial Center during that time to further study and train herself as Jedi Knight. Nobody knows what happened to him, and no one has been able to find him, though he is believed to be dead. For where he was last seen, his lightsaber was found, being sold as junk within a slum junk dealers market. It was severed in half by what looked like another lightsaber. Rin deeply lamented over the loss, how could she not lament over the loss of the man who trained her since she was a child and even saved her? An unfitting end for such a noble man -- a man who was the closest thing to a father she had ever known. At the time, much of it was spent at the Culu Memorial Center mourning and grieving over his loss.
Yet, with Xyse's death the topic came up of who would replace him as the new Jedi Watchman for the Abron System within the Jedi Temple amongst the Jedi Knights and Masters. It was a place that held a certain level of strong significance for Rin, it is a place where she has trained for much of her life, and is home to her people. There was no hesitation within her in regards to her next actions, she was filled with only raw purpose, conviction, and determination; which was to take up the position as Jedi Watchman of the Abron System. It was not an immediate decision, few things are among the Jedi, but after some deliberation, she was granted the post.
Since then she has remained within the Abron system, more often than not spending most of her time fulfilling her duties on Alpheridies aiding and watching over the Miraluka homeworld. Finding a level of peace and much enjoyment with the responsibilities and tasks involved with her posts... In a certain way, it would not be too much to say she views it as honoring her master, Xyse, for all he had done for her.
Her time since has been spent devoting herself entirely to serving Alpheridies and her people as their Jedi Watchman. Whatever inner problems and insecurities she possesses, repeatedly she seeks to step beyond to correct and right herself. Having fallen into disgrace once before, her only personal goal is to pick herself back up and right herself. Recovery is a process and seldom ever immediately for the near decade she has since returned back to the grace of the light, she still takes walking that path slowly and cautiously analyzing even overly so each slight misstep.
RP Sample:
The Defender-class light corvette orbitting Alpheridies, it is from there Rin often resides to relax from her duties. A solitary personality, she does not mind having to work with or deal with others, but eventually requiring her moments of seclusion. The loneliness is meditative in a way, helps her focus, center herself -- finding an equanimity for better clarity. Residing within her ship as it orbits Alpheridies is both a means to distance herself from the place to attain her privacy and still yet feel apart of it as she watches over the system as its Watchman. In a way, the Vigil is both her safe-haven and base of operations.
But at this moment all of that is out of her mind as she slumbers within the crew quarters of the ship. Losing herself within a deep, relaxing meditative sleep until the dawning of the following day for her arrives. Yet a time of unguarded peace is an openning for an undefended disruption. As she slept something seeped its way into her mind, into her thoughts, into her dreams... Something dark... something evil... something deadly...
As she slept what she begun to experience was less of a dream and more of a forced upon vision. Finding herself within pitch black fog, surrounded by it, unable to see or feel nothing outside of the darkness that permeated her mind completely. Anxiety washed over the young Knight in this moment, for she felt this darkness before, knew it to be her own...
"Rin..."
That voice... it was hers but not... that is to say it sounded so very closely to her own, but not entirely -- a small difference in the tone. The nuance of it though, it was like her own driven mad by the darkness within her. She knew this voice all too well, it is what lead her down the dark path, twisted her mind for years... broke her... shattered her.
From the black misty fog within her mind as she slumbered, a visible figure stepped out of it, one she could see despite the surroundings. A woman who looked so very much like herself, though blatantly and severely corrupted by the dark side. But this dark woman had eyes and they were a blood red hue, her raven hair with violet highlights, her pallor a pale greyish corpse-like complexion; and sunken eyes with dark rings around them with creases of the dark side at their far corners. But the visage of their angular facial features, their body frame, their postures, and their voice... all of it is so eerily similar... even identical.
The two stood for a moment within the vision staring at one another, Rin dismayed -- while the dark woman had an almost warm smile.
"Wh--... Who are you...?", Rin uttered trying her best to stay resolute, but the dark woman's smile only grew in reaction to it.
The dark woman begun to circle the young Knight like a shark circling its prey before the strike, "You know who I am... Say it..."
"I...", Rin tried to respond but found herself quickly silenced and interjected, her will being stunted by the dark womans much stronger will.
"Say it!", the dark woman hissed with a demonic grin, "You know who I am -- say it!"
"I..."
With all the temptation and influence of a devil the dark woman hissed again immediately shutting down any form of resistance Rin attempted to offer, "Say it!"
The vicious hissing of the dark woman, breaking the young Knight down, Rin hunched herself over coweringly as she grabbed her head regressed to feeling like a defenseless child before the dark being. Tearfully as she gave hoping by doing so the vision will end, she uttered with a smattering anxiety filled breath, "I... I am you..."
The dark grey lips of the dark woman curled into a sinister grin as she stepped behind Rin gently whispering into her ear, "That's my girl...", in the next instant the dark woman vanished while the oppressive darkness lifted, yet the darkness within Rin herself continued to linger.
The young Knight sprung from her slumber in a cold-sweat as she breathed heavily. Her body strembling in fear as she wrapped herself up in her bed covers while hugging herself in the fetal position trying to give herself some form of comfort. It is in these moments that she regretted and lamented her solitary life...
