Description:
The EFW-008 is an innovative rifle in that it has very few moving parts besides the bullets themselves. This makes the weapon incredibly reliable, as the only moving parts are the ones that involve loading and unloading magazines. Each one is electronically fired from front to rear with zero brass, and the barrel itself acts as a magazine. When the weapon is out of ammo a simple release button is tripped so that the old barrels are ejected from the front, while fresh ones are replaced via the rear. In order for this to occur another release latch must be tripped for the weapon to open from the side and the fresh magazines loaded in. The weapon opens up just past the trigger guard, giving the barrel the most room for bullets as possible.
Should one bullet fail to fire the one behind it will simply push it forward and out of the barrel when it is next in the sequence. Due to the weapon's high rate of fire and no reliance on moving parts during operation it has the ability to fire many rounds in quick succession with an incredibly close grouping before the recoil even has a chance to effect the shooter. The sound itself almost resembles one or two shots in a very quick burst.
This weapon has one crucial flaw that prevented it from seeing any action in the field: ammo consumption. Its high rate of fire means that it has the ability to consume its entire store of ammunition just under half a second. While a burst function replaced the full auto capability of the rifle, its rate of fire and overall weight (including extra ammo) simply isn't viable for your average grunt. Not to mention the cost for the rifle itself, not to mention the ammunition. Recoil also becomes an issue if the shooter intends to spray out his or her magazine in that half a second, and the weapon's reload speed is horrendously slow when compared to its energy-based peers. All in all this weapon is one meant for a quick skirmish or raid, but certainly not a prolonged conflict or battle.
The three 6.7mm barrels are arrayed in a triangular position with the 12.5mm barrel in the center.
