Description:
While Mandalorians like to boast about their fire power, they are not the only ones who thought of "more dakka" in regards to warfare. The Laitra are primarily Force wielding combatants that utilize melee weapons and unarmed combat when in battle. However, they do use blasters and other ranged weaponry as well out of simple practicality. Often their ideal for such weapons is raw destructive power, something that will efficiently eliminate their foe(s) expediently. And because they tend to fight in close-quarters-combat, they tend to favor range weapons that enable them to do just that, thus they often excel at inventing and manufacturing blaster pistols and slugthrower handguns.
By the site of the this blaster and by its name, its deceptive as it's less of a revolver and really a blaster. It simply has the design of a revolver. In any case, the Laitra at one time wanted a short-ranged weapon with intimidatingly devastating power, and the LSW1005a Revolver was the answer, also called the "Vorte Revolver" or "the Vorte" so named after its inventor, Vorte. It uses a power cell that one would expect to be used for a standard issue assault blaster rifle. But the weapon's energy systems channels the a fifth of the power cell through the weapon and concentrating it into the front of the power cell,so it can fire one fifth of the power cell at once in one staggering powerful blast.
Its secondary setting converts the LSW1005a Revolver into entirely different beast, making it a hand-held energy plasma "grenade" launcher for lack of a better term. The weapons systems covert the energy of the entire power cell into an unstable explosive plasma energy blast, which its results is akin to a plasma grenade. However, it is highly suggested not to use it in this setting very often as four to six shots of the weapon in its secondary setting can render it inoperable as it causes so much wear and tear on the firearm. Even in its default setting does it require quite a bit of maintenance after repeated use in combat, which is a drawback to the design.
However, because of the power of its blasts, it can easily maim limbs, heads, and blow wide open three to four inch holes through a person. But, a further drawback to that sort of power is that the wielder needs a lot of strength just to fire it, for its kickback is severe and can easily break a human's wrist or fracture their arm. The Laitra and Strata who use them only ever do so by augmenting their own physical strengths through the Force, otherwise they too would never be able to fire such a weapon without suffering injury.
While the Laitra may be part of the Sith Empire, this weapon has never been put into Sith military or law enforcement circulation, and has been kept for the most part exclusively to the Laitra's own military and law enforcement. However, while a Sith is free to commission one if they so please, their soldiery is primarily non-Force-Sesnsitive and tend to be species that if not human are similar to--and just as strong as humans, thus cannot safely handle the weapon. While Sith of the Sith Order could wield such a weapon, they tend to understandably favor their lightsabers.
