Name: Zen Illiu
Age: 26
Race: Amaran
Birth place: Nar Shaddaa
Height: 3'9
Weight: 98 LBS.
Eye Color: Black
Hair Color: Orange
Appearance: Like most Amarans, Zen is covered by short orange fur, with a black stripe runs across his back, tail, and on the side of his right arm. The mark on his right arm is a defect, and has been in his family as long as they can remember, so he is fine with it, even though it sets him apart from most others of the species. He is never seen in public without his favorite blaster pistol, Fire, and his average spacer's coat, along with normal black pants. Years of precise grooming have kept his tail in prime condition, retaining it's glossy smoothness. Zen's black eyes gaze forward, and a pointed muzzle holds a red mouth, with a small black nose at the end of it. His two large ears stand firmly straight at the top of his head, and he a small scar on the top of his right ear, a grim reminder of a Cantina fight gone bad. On his hands, four clawed fingers hang off of his hands, covered by thick black gloves. His feet are like most other Amarans, clawed and ready, but aren't covered, as he could never find a fitting pair of shoes to cover them.
Personality: Two words describe Zen's personality the best: Haggler and Traitor. Betraying his best friends over to the Hutts is a decision he regrets to this day, despite it being ten years ago. Because of this, he is reluctant to make close friends, and never wants to gain the trust of someone, so he can't betray it one day. However, he manages to retain a close circle of friends, most being other Smugglers, but he is fine with that, and frequently relies on them for tricks and tips, along with someone to hang out with when he goes on his drinking sprees in Nar Shaddaa's many Cantina's. He enjoys their company as well, but they've never accompanied him on his longer smuggling runs, preferring to travel alone, as to not get anyone in trouble in-case he gets busted.
He is always looking for opportunities to loot or make a profit off of his surroundings, and is known to haggle people out of a good price, but is generally a fair trader when selling his wares. His reflexes are very sharp from years of smuggling and dodging blasters in the slums of Nal Hutta, and from evading custom ships. Zen is also an expert navigator, having served on his father's trading ship, and taking lessons from some of the Hutt Cartel's most prominent starship pilots after his parents' death. One of his many flaws is his tendency to keep pressing people for information, sometimes resulting in his exposure as a mole, or getting ignored by other people.
Another one of his weakspots is his addiction to drinks and alcohol, and when drunk, he is generally unresponsive and dazed, usually needing someone to guide him out of the Cantina, or to sleep it off later on. However, Zen's sense of humor is good, but he sometimes has trouble understanding certain jokes, and can be considered a bit deaf, but he understands that is an exaggeration, and that he hears perfectly fine. In addition, he is quite a picky eater, and refuses to eat the whole plate, if he doesn't like one thing on it, and is always willing to pay the extra cost to order another dish.

Born to a family of immigrant traders on Nar Shaddaa, he was revealed to be an avid learner, and quickly learned how the Galaxy works at a young age credits can deal great power. Soon, he was introduced to the value of trading and haggling like most of his family was.
At the age of 5, he grew close to his father, as his mother died in an accident at the trading docks when an out of control starship collided with a nearby freighter, setting off a chain reaction which destroyed the platform she was on, killing her in the process. His mother gone, he began to pick up on some of the bad habits of his father, and started to gamble using the credits he could get from his father at a very young age, even for growing up on Nar Shaddaa.
Zen became famous for frequenting the local Pazaak Meets at the age of only 7. Still, despite his young age, many came to respect his ability to squeeze out a victory even in the face of the worst hands. Soon after, his father took out a big loan from the Hutts, but was beaten in a game of Pazaak by a young Trandoshan, who proceeded to collect on it by liquidating their trading company, and seizing his ships. Nervous for his father, Zen decided to take action, and purchased a blaster pistol by performing laborious work at the docks.
After attempting to protect his father by dueling the Trandoshan a bloody duel ensued. However Zen was easily beaten by the older Trandoshan, but his father managed to overpower the Trandoshan before it killed Zen, but unbeknownst to him, the Hutts had mercenaries waiting outside to kill him when his father exited the room, and when he went outside to dispose the body, he was ruthlessly gunned down by the Mercenaries.
The captain of the team didn't know what to do with him, they stunned Zen and dumped him in the nearby Cantina. After spending all the credits he had on drinks, he resorted to begging on the city streets outside the Cantina near the docks, and it was here he came across the young pilot and future mentor, Vyk Ciun.
Life of crime begins 13-22
After seeing the young Zen living on the streets, Vyk noticed something special about Zen, as he nearly had pick-pocketed him. After entering the Cantina and asking around, Vyk decided he was worthy of a better life. Vyk lead him into the Cantina, where he offered him the opportunity of a lifetime, food and a warm bed. Zen, confused and scared, decided to accept it, and was soon assisting Vyk smuggle for the Hutt Cartel, and began to see many sights of the Galaxy, even visiting Coruscant on rare occasions.
As the years went on, however, Vyk began to think of him like a son, and began to give him a good word to the Hutts in addition to teaching him tricks of the trade, and to perfect his piloting skills. Noting his extreme skill in talking people into buying various merchandise, Vyk began to pay him for his services, and Zen began to save up for his own ship. His ability to talk people into outrageous schemes, introduced by his father, only grew in the company of increased Smugglers and Fringes, and he soon became an expert at it through much practice and trial and error.
But Zen was not without his own ambitions as well, and began to scam people on the Smugglers Moon and beyond. Even though he often got into trouble when his schemes backfired, the payout was often worth it, and personally, he didn't mind giving some of it to the Hutts. At sometime around his 15th birthday, a representative for Arju the Hutt approached Zen with an offer. To serve as a mercenary for the Hutt Cartel on Nal Hutta, and Zen foolishly accepted.
After experiencing battles in toxic sludge and humid swamps, he began to realize the mistake he made, and began to try and get out of it. After two long years serving the Hutts, he convinced Arju to let him join the starfighter corps, and Zen once again began to prove himself as a pilot as he scored many victories for Arju and his allies in the vicious skirmishes against Pirates gripping Hutt Space at the time. However, it was at this point, he made a decision which haunts him to this day.
The Betrayal & Independent Trader 22-26
After Arju reveled that Vyk had turned on them for a rival clan for the release of his father and his wife and revealed information that nearly caused Arju to lose the war. An enraged Arju demanded that Zen begin to hunt for Vyk, for an immense compensation of course. Possibly drugged by Arju, Zen agreed, much to Arju's satisfaction. Zen started to hunt for Vyk, pursuing him from Nal Hutta to Foerost.
After finally trapping him on Foerost, Zen confronted Vyk, and described to him his situation, but Zen, knowing that he needed the reward to leave the Cartel and start his own business, struck down Vyk, killing him. Remorseful for killing his mentor, he returned to Arju, demanding that the Hutt let him leave the Cartel, and collected the reward. Arju tried to keep him in the Cartel by use of flattery, but Zen was still enraged at Arju for making him kill Vyk, and was determined to get as far away from Nal Hutta as possible. After purchasing a freighter named the Jewel, Zen purchased various forms of spice, and departed for Coruscant.
But, just as Zen suspected, competition for the grounds to sell Spice was high, and Zen fought for every inch he could get. Slowly building up his operation, he managed to stay off the radar with some of the local bosses, but as he let his greed overcome him, he managed to gain the attention of local Crime Boss Hlik Trin. They attempted to kill each other for many months, but never got an edge on each other. Finally, whether by Destiny or by Luck, Zen was tipped off by one of his customers the location of where he was supposed to meet Hlik, and Zen ordered the man to take him there.
As the man arrived at the spot, and faked out a deal, Zen ambushed the dealer, gunning him down in a violent fire-fight that ensued through the alleyway. When the day was over, Zen came out relatively unscathed, and wealthier than ever. Out of competition, Zen hung around the next month or so to top off his wealth. Finally, with an adequate amount of credits, he decided it best not to stay, and headed out.
After leaving Coruscant, Zen headed for Mandalore, where he was recruited by the Mandalorians to run various weapon shipments to other systems, and Zen accepted. After running guns for two years in Mandalorian service, he knew that a war was about to start, and he immediately departed from Mandalorian Space, and renounced his service as a Smuggler for them.
Heading to Tatooine, he met a group of smugglers, who became his friends quickly, and they led him back to the Smugglers Moon, and began to contract him with various weapon shipments and spice shipments, and even sometimes, Exchange work. Despite immense competition on the underworld market, he has managed to stay in a prime position and on the higher side of the social structure through cunning and deception.
Although he put it behind him, he still wishes Vyk was around to see him now, but he tries his best to forget it, telling himself that was a different person, one who worked for the Cartel, and it usually works. Lately, he finds himself running weapons to various planets in a state of war, including Balmorra and Ord Mantell, where he is currently believed to be.

Zen looked down at the beautiful view of the waving grass and glassy sea this estate gave him. He was enjoying his stay on Ord Mantell, despite it being a relative warzone. He'd spent the last few days at the contact's estate, and was enjoying himself on the various luxuries the estate had to offer. Normally on these kinds of jobs, he would be half way back to the Smugglers Moon by now, but the Exchange and the Resistance insisted that he stay on Ord Mantell for atleast a standard week as to not raise suspicion by the Sith towards the Exchange, which wouldn't be a good thing. Sighing, he sat back down on the couch, but decided to head into the town, see what's up, get some info, and perhaps procure some more merchandise. Deciding that was best, he walked down the aqua colored stairs, and checked to see if the familiar black object was at his side.
Good, still armed. he thought blandly. Zen hardly ever had to check to see, but better safe than sorry. After heading out the door, he hopped onto the speeder, and began the ride towards town. He still wondered what exactly was going on on Ord Mantell, but he guessed he'd probably see real soon.
