The sun beat down on Tatooine as it always did reflecting light of off of the dry rock and coarse sand. The temperature making it un-comftable for all those out of the limited shade as strong winds combined with scorching heats caused skin to burn and blister.
On a mission to a settlement north-east of Mos Eisley Ysera Vai scanned in the distance for any signs of sand people. They had been causing those belonging to the settlement grief and sometimes even harm for weeks until the council sent Ysera to intervene. As always she was precise and her nerves did not show any, what was there to worry about, a bunch of savages with unrefined fighting skills verses a member of the Jedi Order? There would be no contest. However it did not stop them from trying and she found herself defending herself multiple times on her stay.
"I can't see any of them." She spoke calmly pulling her eyes away from the binoculars then looking towards a man on her right. "I wouldn't be too surprised if that's the last of the trouble they bring for the people here. However I think its best if I stay for a while longer, just until nightfall." Ysera insisted.
Performing a patrol of the perimeter Ysera kept a constant look out for any signs, Bantha mainly. Those beasts were a sure sign that sand people were in the vicinity. The heat sapping her energy she returned to the comfort of the settlement to have a drink before resuming her work, it wasn't like her to feel so fatigued but growing up on somewhere that's climate is so different was beginning to take its toll.

Sand. There was just so much of it on this blasted rock, there was little else more to see. Zandar could not quite fathom why anyone would choose to settle on such a forsaken world, he doubted very much that there were people who enjoyed the sand that much. The male was well out of his comfort zone here, he much preferred the cluttered grittiness of Nar Shaddaa to all of the nothing on Tatooine. As much as the unending desert grinded on his nerves, so too did the heat. It was bad enough that someone decided to settle on a world with so much nothing, but also thought it was a good idea to set up shop on a world that boasted so many suns. A star system did not need that many, surely. The heat was unending and it served to put Zandar Quinn in a foul mood. His dark robes, faded more to a dull grey over the years, clung to his skin. Heavy and slick with his own sweat, he felt almost trapped in a cocoon of his own clothing. His saber hung at his waist, a reassuring comfort like an old friend that he knew would never fail him.
He was more than tempted to rely on said old friend once again, with the obscene Hutt back at the settlement. The slug initially refused to pay up the full amount for the contract that was completed without issue. Not that it was a difficult contract. In fact Zandar felt it was a little beneath him, anything below wanton murder tender to leave him left a little unsatisfied these days. This coupled with the frustration at the barbaric environment this planet offered served only to further fuel his anger at this loathsome place.
And that was when he felt it. A disturbance in the Force. Only a trickle, but it was far more than he had expected to find on this backwater. Instead of heading for his ship and getting to more civilised space as soon as was practicable, he left the one swoop town behind him and headed off into the wilderness, a decision that he almost immediately regretted. The reason that the disturbance he had felt was only the slightest of flickers was not due to a weakness at the source as he first assumes, but rather due to distance. Trekking through the desert was not on his list of things to do this day, but he found himself doing so. He had not expected to find a force user out here on theatres end of nowhere, but now that he had, he could not simply ignore it.
If the origin of the disturbance was powerful enough to be worth the bother, then the dark Jedi knew that it was likely his approach had already been detected. As such he decided to forgo any attempts to mask his presence, not that a figure in dark robes was easy to hide in an ocean of sand. The disturbance was becoming stronger now, and there was no doubt that it belonged to someone taught in the ways of the force, it was highly improbable that such a power could belong to someone raw untrained. He was getting closer now, he could almost taste the power on the edge of his tongue. As the frustrated human scaled what best had be the very last sand dune, his Lightsaber flew from beneath his robes into his awaiting hands. Soon it would be ignited, and Zandar was certain it would taste Jedi flesh.

Ysera tightened the straps on her bags before slinging them over her speeder, once firmly in place she patted the palm of her hand against the side to shake away any sand. One things for sure she didn't want to take any memory of this baron heap with her.
Nightfall fell quicker than expected and after saying goodbye to those she had helped, she returned to the speeder and made way for Mos Eisley spaceport. It was quite a way and the dangers of the Tatooine at night were well known to many who lived there yet... as Ysera mounted herself onto the transport she sensed another danger, she couldn't make out what it was, but she knew it was something.
"I don't have time to investigate..." Ysera said trying to convince herself, her body warming up as the engine of the speeder became hot. "Well maybe a small detour wouldn't hurt." Riding off into the night she followed her feelings, like a dog following a scent she searched. It was hard, the pathways were created by winds and had no specific routes, the feelings would grown then deplete, grow then deplete. Ysera was going around in circles... Then it hit her, what if SHE was being tracked... What if the reason she could not catch this mysterious disturbance is because it was looking for her.
Ysera slowed her speeder down, then stopped it. She put up a small tee pee and sat cross legged beneath it. If there was someone tracking her, it wouldn't be long till they found her. Closing her eyes she heightened her senses, the dark side was strong with whoever was following her... " Sith? Dark Jedi? No matter, I am Ysera Vai of the Jedi Order. If you ride to face me, you ride to your death." She whispered to herself before falling into a meditation. She would need her strength to face this foe.

Darkness fell far sooner than Zandar Quinn had initially expected. The heavy robes that he was earlier criticising he now found to be glad of. Without the overbearing presence of Tatooine’s sun’s towering over the world, the cold quickly crept up on the dark Jedi. As the light faded from the earth, it became quite difficult to see, visibility dropping to almost zero. This did not faze the young human however, he was not searching with his eyes after all. He stopped for several moments, closing the impaired eyes, and focusing on the source of power that had lead him so far out on the desert.
One foot went in front of the other, eyes still closed, following a seemingly unseen path, allowing the force to guide him to his destination. It was perhaps not the wisest decision to traipse through the desert as good as blindfolded, but Zandar trusted in his senses. Soon enough, the disturbance in the force grew so strong that he knew he had to be close. Opening his eyes confirmed it, even in this poor visibility. Someone had set up camp close by, and there was no way this was a coincidence. If walking through the dark desert with closed eyes was dangerous, pitching up for the night was tantamount to suicide. There was plenty of dangers out here, more than just Zandar Quinn. Whoever this was, they were waiting for him. There was no doubt that this was someone strong in the force, they knew he was coming yet they did not flee. Whoever this unknown force user was, they were ready for a fight, and Zandar planned to give them one.
”Whoever you are, you have made a mistake.”The orange blade ignited from the end of his saber the second the hilt flew into his outstretched palm, illuminating the dark figure in the middle of the barren desert. ”You should have left this place when you had your chance.”There was no point trying to hide his presence, the mysterious force user had made it clear that they were expecting him. Zandar did not plan to disappoint. ” Instead you have designated this place as your tomb. Your body shall be desecrated, torn apart, and forgotten in the sands of this rock.”
His voice boomed across the desolate landscape as a convoluted smile twisted across his face and the dark Jedi stalked ever closer to the small camp ahead. His active weapon held tight by his side, scorching the earth as it eagerly anticipated this new opponent.

Darkest night had fallen upon the deserts of Tatooine. Ysera sat still, listening to the winds and reaching out with the force. The Presence was becoming stronger, and stronger then suddenly.
"Welcome." Ysera whispered. She remained stock still as she heard the sound of a man shouting, he seemed angry. Opening her eyes and getting to her feet she repeated. "Welcome." This time she spoke louder. She could not see the man, not until a lightsaber was ignited. It was orange in colour Ysera observed before another sparked into life.
Ignition of lightsabers often means confrontation. Are you sure you would like to proceed down this path? Ysera spoke with confidence above her years. Every bone in Ysera's body told her to make the first move, however the Jedi code had to be adhered to. Diplomacy first. I would personally advice against it. I doubt we have met, let me introduce myself. My name is Ysera Vai. Ysera said calmly, only now reaching for her lightsaber hilt, she knew that if a man approached her in this manor it was only going one way.
The hilt remained un-ignited as Ysera scanned the surrounding area. There were no points where one could gain an advantage. Save the dune that the dark robed man appeared from. First step was to avoid him having the high ground, it would be detrimental. Ysera remained where she was as the man began to approach.
As the man approached he continued shouting, this time about Ysera being killed. Holding back a giggle Ysera jumped up slightly off the ground, shaking her body to get it slightly warmer and ready her muscles before landing and repeating the action.
You speak as if it is a certainty. That is how I know you are not accustomed to battle. This is how I know I can defeat you here. Your words are empty threats. Hubris. The first rule of doing battle. Do not underestimate your opponent. Ysera spoke, more serious now.
Awaiting her opponents move she spoke one final time. Come enemy of the light. For you are ill prepared.
