Name: Mal Denton
Race: Human
Age: Twenty-Eight
Birthplace: Corulag / Curamelle
Allegiance: Republic
Status: Republic Military Reserves, Bodyguard for Junior Senator of Arkania
Rank: Sargent
Height/Weight: 5’ 9” / 167 lbs.
Appearance: Mal stands at five foot nine inches in height, and weighs in at one hundred sixty seven pounds of pure muscle. He has black hair, and silvery grey eyes. He has a squared jaw and his nose is slightly angled. His body is muscular, and kept in the best condition he can. His abdomen, arms, and legs possess several scars from his years of combat. He has a single horizontal scar on his right cheek from an explosion, laying over this scar is a vertical scar received from a lightsaber, forming a cross. Mal keeps his hair cut short, and is always clean shaven.
Mal’s clothes are always meticulously kept, whether they are part of his military uniform or his everyday clothes. He always wears a pair of black boots, shined within an inch of their lives. His clothes are normally darker in color, dark grey pants, a black shirt, and a navy blue tunic. His military uniform is always clean, crisp, and perfectly kept, likewise with his armor. He tends to wear a blaster pistol at his side, and keeps a vibroblade in his boot. He designed a mechanism to hide a hold out blaster up his sleeve, which extends and retracts with precise movements from his wrist. Mal always wears his mother’s wedding ring around his neck.
Personality: Mal tends to keep his past to himself, not out of any desire to forget it; he just believes that the past should be just that, the past. He believes whole heartedly in the future, and so prefers to do his best to make the future better. His usual temperament is happy, and vaguely childlike, this is a defense mechanism for everything he has seen. Mal takes great pride in his work, and reflects that in his appearance and apartment. Despite this however, he is not arrogant, and views overconfidence as a path that leads to death. He doesn’t believe in wasting potential, and so does his best at everything he attempts.
Mal is afraid of snakes, and isn’t very fond of droids, though he will work with them if he needs to. He’s a loyal person, and if someone manages to gain his complete trust, they have a friend for life. However, Mal expects the same loyalty in return. If someone betrays his trust then that’s it, he doesn’t believe in second chances. Though he doesn’t understand the Force, he respects the Jedi. While he doesn’t like the Sith, he respects their abilities, even fears them to a small degree.
When Mal is forced into a fight, he changes from his childlike norm, to a fierce and deadly combatant. When the need arises, he is very serious and knows what needs to be done. So long as an order doesn’t conflict with his good nature, he’ll obey it. He refuses to kill innocence, no matter what side they are on. However, the moment someone tries to harm him or his friends, he will neutralize the threat.

Biography: Mal Denton was born on Corulag to wealthy parents; his mother was a prominent professor at the Corulag Academy, and his father was a merchant. Despite Mal not being a genius, like his parents, they were immensely proud of him. Growing up he didn’t want for anything, if he wanted it he got it. However, Mal was simply happy playing with his friends. When he was very young, before he could remember, he was discovered by the Jedi to be Force sensitive. His parents not wanting to lose him requested that he be able to stay, they were able to keep him. His parents never told him of his Force sensitivity.
Growing up, Mal loved to play sports. No matter what sport he played, he often unconsciously used the Force to either increase his physical abilities, or predict what was coming next. He never suspected anything more than skill and luck played a factor into his abilities, neither did his friends. Despite his parents knowing the truth, they let him attempt any endeavor. Not thinking that he could be dangerous. True to their thoughts, Mal never once showed any sign of his Force powers being dangerous. In actuality, he never suspected his Force ability, and so never consciously used them.
His teenage years were filled with school sports and girls. Mal was rarely in trouble, he passed his classes, though barely in some cases. And he was kind and courtesies to all, his parents were proud of him, thinking he had a bright future ahead of him. While he was young, he didn’t follow the Sith, though he did know they were important. He assumed that if something truly noteworthy happened, his parents would tell him then he could draw conclusions. Nearing the end of his school years he thought ahead to what he wanted to do, he knew he wanted to make a difference, but he was unsure as to how.
When he turned eighteen and still hadn’t reached a decision, he decided to join the Republic Army. His mother wasn’t very fond of the idea, but his father managed to convince his mother not to freak out too much. Mal soon enlisted and went to basic training; he immediately loved the challenge and structure of the military. He was skilled with a blaster, pistol or rifle mattered little, but he lacked skill in close combat. He knew within his first year that he would make the military his career. He began paying more attention to the Sith, though still not fully viewing them as a threat.
Mal’s first post was on the world of Coruscant, it was a boring post, and they didn’t do much. It was during this time that Mal began to tinker with machines, developing skill at building and repairing different objects. Several times while he was on patrol with his squad, he unconsciously used the Force to predict when someone near wished them harm. Stopping an attack on a few occasions, this earned him the rank of corporal, and the jealousy of his squad mates. They didn’t understand how Mal could know what was about to happen, he didn’t understand it himself.
The years passed as such, his squad moving to new planets on occasion. Each time it was the same, he unconsciously used the Force to know when something was going to happen. By the time he got his first true taste of combat, he had been in the army for six years. He was on leave visiting his family, and someone decided to break into his parents’ home. Mal was woken up by blaster fire, and upon entering the living room found his mother lying dead on the floor. He was forced from his thoughts by more blaster fire hitting the wall by his head. Falling back on his training, and unconscious use of the Force amplifying his reflexes, he ducked behind the wall and returned fire. The two men were killed with one shot from his pistol. He began to wear his mother’s wedding ring around his neck after this incident.
Upon his return to the army, he was forced to pass a psychological review. Once he managed to do this, he returned to active duty. Over the next four years, his squad began to be placed in combat more and more. Pirates, rebels, and eventually the Sith. It was during this time that Mal constructed his mechanism for a hidden hold out blaster. He had to have a blaster modified to fold its grip into the stock, but he was able to have it done. He doesn’t know where his life will take him, but he is happy with his lot in life, glad that he is able to make a difference.
Roleplay Sample: Mal groaned and exited the room, debriefings were always boring. The only good note to this was he now had the next two days off. Maybe he’d finally get around to finishing the mechanism for his hidden hold out blaster; all he needed was to make it comfortable to wear. How he would do that, he still wasn’t sure. Extra padding would make it more noticeable, maybe strips of cloth. He’d decide on that later, today he thought he’d go to the holotheater there was a new comedy he wanted to see. He quickly descended to the lobby and exited the building, breathing in the polluted air. Despite its faults, Mal enjoyed being on Coruscant the most, there was always something to do.
Grinning an idea struck Mal, he liked it and it was a great way for him to get revenge on his roommate. He quickly changed clothes, and strapped a non-army baster to his hip, he went to his roommate’s room. Above the other man’s door, he placed a disk of his own design, the next time the door opened ice cold water would spill down onto his roommate. Along with that he hid flash bombs at various points throughout the room. His skill with the demolition materials was negligible, but he was able to hide them. They wouldn’t hurt his roommate, just piss him off. Smiling again, Mal went to the kitchen and came back with a fish, making sure the door didn’t close. Removing the vibroblade from his boot, he sliced the fish as thin as he could, and hid the slices under his mattress. Cleaning the blade with the blankets, he returned it to the sheath in his boot.
Happy with his work, he left the apartment. That would teach the other man to ruin one of his dates, and if it didn’t they had more fish. It was petty and childish of Mal to get revenge, he knew, but it was fun. Besides his roommate was just as childish, this was just the first volley in a long war that could possibly destroy their apartment. One of them would have to be the better man, though it was unknown which would eventually be the better man. Mal would have to start planning his counter prank now, it would also have to be much better than his last one. Knowing Mal's good fortune, he would know when his roommate would exact his revenge, and maybe be able to avoid it. He had heard many times that he was the luckiest person people had met, and he had to agree, he was lucky.
