Name: Kuroth Senn
Race: Miraluka/Human hybrid
Age: 46
Birthplace: Alpheridies
Character Theme: Incentives - Self Decay
Allegiance: Self
Status: Grey Jedi/Civilian
Rank: None
Height/Weight: 6' 6" 217 lbs.
Appearance:
At six feet six inches and two-hundred and seventeen pounds, Kuroth is a tall but rather thin individual. His body is slim but toned like that of a professional athlete from the years of intensive training. Born to both Miraluka and Human parents, he appears no different than any other human with a pale complexion, black slicked-back hair, a rough and rugged beard and an otherwise entirely human body. His eyes, while existent, do not function due to a complication at birth from the mixed Miraluka and Human genes. They appear grey and empty with no visible pupil. Despite the fact that his literal eyes don't work, he still has the enhanced sense of Force Sight any other Miraluka has, making his "blindness" possibly his greatest strength. As evidence of past Dark Side corruption, his eye sockets remain darkened like that of a Dark Jedi. His skin also remains paler than the average person and darkened veins still appear along his skin at various spotted points around his body, such as his neck, torso, and hands.
His left hand has been replaced with a rather crude-looking prosthetic as the bare mechanics were left open for display rather than covered in artificial skin to mask its existence. Instead of wearing some kind of robe typical of many force-sensitives, Kuroth wears a black and white jacket complete with a face-masking hood and stylish coat tails. Plain black pants and black shoes finish off the ensemble.
He keeps to himself and walks with a casual demeanor, keeping both his head and profile low so as not to draw attention to himself. Blending into a crowd or appearing as a casual bystander come easily. A hood and his lavish beard help to mask his face and make him easily forgettable. When in combat, his posture remains calm as if unprepared for battle, yet someone skilled at reading body language may see an intimidating and overly confident demeanor.
Personality: To put Kuroth's morality in the simplest of terms would be true neutral. In the end, he is his only real concern but he's not opposed to making friends and allies or working for others, provided he agrees with their cause or is being paid enough. Still, money is not enough to persuade him entirely as he can be hired to carry out what he feels are "arbitrary" tasks, but cannot be hired to go against his morality, such as slaughtering a group of innocent people for whatever reason one might hire another to do so. He seeks to promote peace in a galaxy of conflict but is no prophet preaching peace and equality. He will do his part to stop tyranny, unnecessary violence, and acts of incredible evil as he has sympathy for the weak due to his own troublesome past.
His isolated captivity and his temporary corruption of the Dark Side have done quite a number on his social abilities. His emotions seem to come in waves like a beach, sometimes finding himself unable to properly express himself and giving awkward and unenthusiastic responses while other times feeling intense surges of rage, passion, hatred, or even love and joy. He is an unstable mess that can either come off as very awkward and introverted to overly zealous and easily agitated. Love and anger are his two greatest emotions and go hand in hand, as his intense love for something can quickly lead to overwhelming aggression when that something has been threatened. In the best of light, he has been described as passionate, self-less, and dedicated. In the worst of light, he can be seen as aggressive, careless, and a dangerous Jedi teetering on the path of the Dark Side, typically dependent upon the individual you ask. Neither of these descriptions of him are wrong and a second fall to the Dark Side is always lurking just around the corner.
When it comes to decision-making, he typically takes into account logic and reason. Emotions often led him astray and he tries to keep them out of the process, but no one is perfect and his temper or insistence upon revenge against those who have wronged him can quickly consume him. While free from the corruption of the dark side, he has not entirely forsaken it.

Equipment:
Kuroth's Saber - The lightsaber Kuroth wields was designed rather uniquely and specifically. It begins with an entirely black hilt with "vents" around the emitter where the blade's light shimmers through. The hilt is elongated for a traditional saber, clocking in at 12" to allow for more room to grip. The casing was designed to be water-tight. The saber's blade can vary in length as it was built with two crystals, making it a dual phase saber and allowing the blade to shift between a 24" short sword or a 36" long sword. To further personalize the weapon, a few other modifications were added, such as a pressure grip, cell recognizer with a trap inducing an electric shock, and force-manipulated switches. The blade is a deep but vibrant purple.
Kuroth's Back-up Saber - This secondary blade doesn't see much use, but gets some occasionally. It appears much smaller than his primary blade, being classified as a Shoto with a 7" black hilt and a 20" teal blade. Like his primary lightsaber, this blade contains a pressure grip, cell recognizer with an electric trap, and force-manipulated switches. This blade is used exclusively in situations where he cannot reach his primary blade.
In addition to his lightsaber, Kuroth keeps a number of items on him, such as a stun gauntlet, gas grenades, ion grenades, flashbang grenades, thermal detonators, and a single standard blaster pistol.

Biography: Kuroth was born to Miralukan female Serasana Senn and Human male Ezho Senn on the adopted homeworld of the Miraluka; Alpheridies. With a father who was an ex-member of the Jedi Order and a mother who was a proficient member of the Miralukan organization the Luka Sene, After years of dedicated and loyal service to the Jedi Order, Ezho had begun to disagree more and more with the Council's way of doing things with each passing decision. Though he held good intentions in his heart and remained a keeper of the peace, he left and took on the mantle of a Grey Jedi. With his time free, he decided to venture to Alpheridies to be with Serasana; a woman whom he had shared a brief moment of passion with during a mission of peace to the Miralukan homeworld.
it would seem that the boy was destined for greatness. Fortunately the only known complication in his birth was the lack of eyesight in his true eyes which ultimately would prove to be inconsequential as his Force Sight was as strong as any other Miraluka. From the young age of six, his parents trained him; his mother helping to strengthen his connection to the Force (and his sensory abilities) and his father providing a solid foundation in the art of lightsaber combat. Their intention was to shape their son into a powerful and confident warrior, free of allegiance, always taking the best interest of the galaxy to heart rather than any political motivations nor emotional attachment. It was not their intention to turn their son into a living weapon but rather a hero like his father whom would fight for the greater good and defend the weak just as he had. Kuroth was fated to be a defender of peace, justice, and equality, but these plans would go awry very quickly.
A rogue Dark Jedi known by Verux Roth would come to kidnap Kuroth at the young and moderately defenseless age of nine. With the basics of lightsaber combat down and a strong connection to the Force, he was a perfect candidate for Verux's nefarious plans. The Dark Jedi had called the planet a temporary home for nearly four years, studying the youths of the Miraluka in secret in search of a suitable child, his ties to the force - and the dark side -remaining hidden with his skill in Force Stealth. His parents were slain in the middle of the night, Verux creeping in silent as a cat and keeping the boy docile with a sedative-doused cloth. The Miralukans were none-the-wiser until it was too light. Kuroth had vanished into the middle of the night. As he awoke, he was understandably shaken as he tried to grasp the harsh new reality he found himself in.
He was taken to the planet Nivek where a sizable yet relatively small organization of Dark Jedi resided. They called themselves the Endrum Collective and united under a metaphorical flag in hopes of growing and becoming a power in the world - at the very least a useful mercenary force in the galaxy - all in the name of money. Kuroth had been abducted alongside a number of other children from various planets and backgrounds all with the intention of being turned into weapons at the group's disposal: Killing machines. The group's best Jedi were instructors for the children, the Miraluka Verux among them.
Training was done the old fashioned Sith way: Through pain and defeat. Time and time again Kuroth was pushed to and even past his limits all in the name of strength and ultimately profit. Each training session was followed by a rigorous spar against his primary instructor Verux to display what he had learned, Verux refusing to hold back and just stopping short of killing the youth. While most of his training came from his immediate captor, he had his fair share of training with other members of the organization, all of whom taught him different principles, applications of the Force, and alternate forms of lightsaber combat. Each instructor and session was chosen and handpicked carefully for not only Kuroth but for each of the captives, building on each one's personal strengths and helping to cover their weaknesses. With a strong connection to the sensory aspect of the Force and a pre-existing knowledge of basic lightsaber combat, Kuroth's path was chosen early. He was to be an assassin, skilled in the arts of hunting, tracking, infiltration, stealth, and his speciality, anti-lightsaber warfare.
Verux provided a majority of his training. He helped strengthened Kuroth's sensory abilities and taught him the Ataru and Makashi forms - a specialty of Verux's. While these three skills alone would arguably be enough to create an efficient killer and duelist, his training was diversified by other instructors in other forms of combat and aspects of the force to varying degrees, applying different principles and techniques to his primary style, such as telekinetic force powers to provide mid-ranged support, body-focused force powers to strengthen himself, and the unorthodoxed form known as Trakata to further cementing his skills as a proficient duelist. He was also instructed in the other five forms of lightsaber combat and other applications of the force to varying degrees, not meant to broaden his skills but meant to supplement his style and create a unique warrior.
The boy remained a recluse and spent most of his time in solitude. While most other captives turned to each other for comfort, Kuroth refused to forge another connection with someone out of fear of them being ripped away from him just as his parents had. He looked to his own mind for comfort and, when allowed a small number of possessions, found a love for music.
Conditioned to be an assassin, he was also trained in the arts of stealth, infiltration, and tracking. His sensory skills as a well-trained Miraluka provided the know-how to track his targets. A foundation in stealth needed to be built. At first, the boy received no training in this field. Instead, he often went unfed and was forced to sneak around the camp to find food. At first his attempts went understandably bad as he was caught time and time again by the guards, beaten as a punishment and thrown back in his chambers. But over the years, he learned the ins-and-outs of stealth; how to move without making a sound, how to stick to the shadows, and how to use distractions and deception to bypass guards. It was only when he had firmly built a solid foundation that his formal stealth training began, including the art of hacking to disable electronic defenses and the ability to bend both light and sound around himself with the Force to conceal his physical presence as well as the ability to entirely conceal his connection to the Force, making him even a deadly adversary for even most Jedi.
Lightsaber forms were learned the hard way. Forms were briefly practiced before he was thrown into sparring matches against masters of the respective styles. His early sessions were often likened to a bully beating the new kid with a stick - even deemed outright abuse. But the technique proved effective as being struck by every move in the book taught him how to deal with them aside from his more practical training in their usage. Force training included telekinetic exercises (lifting, holding, throwing, catching, and deflecting objects), impossible obstacle courses that warranted generous use of techniques such as Force Speed and Force Jump, and unforgiving tracking missions, being thrown into the wilderness and given a target to hunt down, informed that his target is the only source of food and water for miles.
Throughout his training, Kuroth was pushed towards the Dark Side of the Force intentionally. The brutal training was indeed meant to push him to his limits in order to physically strengthen him, but it was also intended to push him to the limits of his aggression. It was during a training session with Verux that Kuroth first began his descent into the Dark Side after losing his left hand, utilizing the iconic Force Lightning in an attempt to lash out and harm his abusive captor. The attempt proved futile as Verux's own skill was still miles ahead of the boy at this point in his life, but the damage had been done. Kuroth had taken his first step into the Dark Side: Temptation. His descent continued throughout the years as Verux and the other Dark Jedi continued to push, abuse, and torment him, eventually leading him all the way to the path of submission. Kuroth began to accept the Dark Side as a useful and powerful tool that would one day come in handy, his intentions and motivations a conflicting mess of selfishness and a longing for freedom.
As their connection to the Dark Side grew, the captives were often pitted against one another in staged incidents. Something would go missing, a personal effect would be damaged, or a meal would be taken. Whatever it was, it wasn't hard to start a fight between the captives. These were seen as impromptu training exercises and made sure only the strongest of the strong remained. Survival of the fittest at its best. It was during one of these fights - at the young age of 15 - that Kuroth would make his first kill and complete his fall into the Dark Side through submission. Another captive who coincidentally had in fact actually stolen one of his meals was beaten to death. Before he knew it. Kuroth's knuckles were covered in his blood, the ground stained beneath his head.
As his training progressed and the organization began to feel their weapon was starting to reach the pique of his capabilities, a few enhancements were made to Kuroth's body, developed by the best scientists money could buy on the low. His joints were replaced with cybernetics, facilitating increased range of motion, response time, and overall speed in his movements. This, combined with a regular dosage of a drug given to him at a young age (since his capture) which sped up muscle development further bolstered his agility. Soon, he could run miles faster and jump feet higher than most of the other captives, save for those who had received similar training and augmentation. Soon he began to outshine not only the other "weapons" but many of the instructors. It was Verux who kept him in line with a regular dose of punishment.
With his training largely complete, his name was added to the roster of "weapons" at the organization's disposal at the age of 26. Requests and credits came in and Kuroth was put to work. His tasks often included infiltration in order to acquire some great wealth, technology, or secrets for an interested party but, for the most part, he was hired as an assassin as intended. Ambassadors, Jedi, politicians, and wealthy aristocrats fell to his blade as well as unfair merchants, recipients of long-bred grudges, and common rabble with enemies in the wrong places. A scruffy beard, a hooded face, a light foot, a keen eye, and a casual demeanor kept his identity from becoming more than a half remembered party guest, a horrid composite sketch, or an out of focus image on a security cam. As a show of "good faith" as they called it. 10% of the profits he brought in were given to him but, without a real desire for material wealth, the money was saved and used as emergency funds during his extended travels.
After 18 years spent roaming the galaxy as an assassin, he began to understand the quality of life he was missing out of. Years of solitude had almost given him a sense of stockholm syndrome as he knew no other life, but seeing what he was missing had begun to ebb away at the thick layer of stone. He longed for freedom - not for a life away from killing but for a life away from servitude. A life of his own. A final confrontation with Verux would gain Kuroth his freedom and grant him his redemption from the Dark Side. Confident in his abilities, he turned on his captor and instructor, mocking him for giving him the power to engineer his own escape. The battle concluded with Verux's death and, before he made his escape, he stopped to contemplate the other captives. With their assistance, they overthrew the Dark Jedi and freed themselves, simultaneously freeing Kuroth from the corruption of the Dark Side, but its taint and influence over him would never fully vanish.
As a now free man, Kuroth uses (and continues to train) the skills he was taught during his years of captivity for the greater "good", upholding his own sense of justice and promoting peace without committing to the Jedi Order, wandering the galaxy as a Grey Jedi. He still works primarily as a mercenary, showing allegiance to no one other than his own morals and his current contractor.
Roleplay Sample:
"I've whipped you into submission for years, boy. Stand down or I will not hold back this time!" Verux's raspy voice commanded over the whistling wind of the impending storm; a fitting symbolic backdrop for this battle.
"It is I who has been holding back, not you." Kuroth retorted, his voice stern and determined, a stoic expression on his face. The saber in his right hand began to sizzle as a light sprinkling of rain began to permeate through the tree tops. The two shared an overly dramatic stare for a brief moment, Kuroth assessing the situation, realizing he can't turn back now, Verux awaiting his pupil's first move.
In an impressive display of speed, Kuroth bound forward. His feet slammed against the ground with each graceful stride, the cybernetic implants doing their work. This moment was life or death and holding back would only result in failure. He had to win. He had to be free. He pulled the Force in, channeling it inward through his own body. Already he could feel his muscles strengthening as he picked up speed, closing the gap at a startling rate - startling even to Verux. Evidently Kuroth wasn't bluffing. He had been holding back.
Their sabers clashed, creating a vibrant and warm glow as the violet saber clashed with the Dark Jedi's own crimson one, treating the wildlife to a magnificent light show reminiscent of a night club. Again and again they clashed, the sound rivaling the thunder now booming overhead. The two back-peddled and flourished their blades fancily before taking battle poses once more. "I trained you! I made you what you are! I will not be bested by my own pupil as some kind of poetic justice!" Verux bellowed into the night, going on the offensive as he charged forward this time. It would be his undoing. The anger and aggression took him over and fueled his ties to the Dark Side but, for the first time in years, Kuroth released his own aggression.
They clashed once more and recoiled, Kuroth following up immediately. The attack was dodged by Verux and Kuroth over-extended himself, spinning too far and leaving his back open - or so it would appear. The Dark Jedi took advantage of this opening but it was a feint. Kuroth raised his left hand and pushed back Verux's saber with a force deflection, creating an opening of his own.
The violet blade would have dripped with red had it been steel as it pierced through the chest of his master. With the worst part of the ordeal over, Kuroth's eyes turned towards the space port his captors had used, ready to steal a ship and leave. But for a moment, he felt a twinge of guilt as his eyes then turned towards the barracks where he and the other captives had been held. It was inhumane to leave them here and to continue to suffer the same horrors and hardships he had.
Somewhat reluctantly, he took a step towards the barracks, unknowingly taking his first step towards redemption from the Dark Side...
