Merrik sat back in his chair, sipping his ale and let himself relax slightly. He had just ended his year long service with the mercenaries that had supplied him with new equipment, which had seen quite a lot of use over the last year. They had offered to keep him on as a partner, but he preferred to be on his own. So they had dropped him here and went on their way. He had some money saved from his work, but it wasn't much. He needed to get himself a ship, a simple long range personal cruiser would be perfect. Something inconspicuous that could get him through space he was wanted in would be ideal. Maybe he could find something while he was here, how he'd afford it he didn't know, but he'd think of something. In the meantime he'd sit here, enjoy the music, and have a few drinks.
Merrik scratched underneath his goggles, it was taking some getting used to wearing goggles instead of a cloth around his eyes. But he figured the goggles would be less noticeable than a cloth, even if the bandanna or other such object would be more comfortable. It was better to not appear familiar however, many people could recognize a miraluka by sight due to their eye and head coverings. Merrik didn't want to be recognized, he wanted to blend in. Goggles were a common sight, and so goggles it was for now. Still, maybe he should find some kind of holo device that could mimic eyes so he could fit in better. He could see better than most without eyes, but the empty eye sockets tended to cause him to be more noticeable. In his line of work, he needed to be less noticeable. Especially with the bounty on his head from the Hutts.
Merrik waved his hand and used a simple mind trick to make a gambler leave him alone, he had no interest in playing cards, or buying the man a drink. If someone wanted to sit down and discuss a job, he had no problem with it, he welcomed it in fact. If someone were to just sit down by him and drink he wouldn't even care, but if someone was going to sit down and annoy him? Well, a simple nudge with his mind was better all around than a blast of Force lightning. Not to mention it was easier on his energy, and it was better than causing a big ruckus and drawing attention to him. So the odd mind trick to keep people away was the best bet. It wasn't too difficult a trick anyway, most of the people here were weak minded fools, only a few were strong enough of mind to resist him. One of them being the bartender. A good bartender was hard to find after all, this one was a good one.
Merrik lightly scanned the minds around him, for no other reason than he was still paranoid of someone coming after him. The Hutts were relentless when someone had pissed them off, and he had done his fair share of pissing off Hutts. Or one anyway, but it seemed to matter little to them. Still he wasn't the only one that had pissed off the Hutts, his mind shifted to the Zeltros, she had been fun, he had spent time with for a while. And one crazy weekend, he was sure that their hotel room had to have been burned to clean it properly. That was two days that he would never forget... No, it was three days. It's true what they say about Zeltros, there was no other planet like it in the galaxy.
Merrik got a refill on his drink, and then put his feet up on the table and enjoyed his drink. His vibrosword was leaning on his chair to his left, within easy reach of his hand. His trench knives were secured to his torso as usual, his bracers held four knives between them. And those were just the ones that could be seen somewhat easily. He was always carrying several knives on him at any given time, if something needed to be filleted, the Merrik was your man. Or electrocuted, he enjoyed that particular Force power at times. Though he didn't let any of it control him, he instead exuded control over himself. He was neither Jedi nor Sith, he didn't follow the tenets of either religion. He walked the line between light and dark and didn't look back.
Merrik looked up at a disturbance at the bar, barely paying attention to it for a moment. Then he decided it could be something interesting, break up the monotony for a few minutes before he went out looking for either work or a cheap ship. Which ever he came across first. Merrik strapped his vibrosword to his back before draining the last of his drink and going to the bar. Slamming his glass down he motioned at the bartender, "Another." It was the main word he said since he had ordered his drink originally. He wasn't much of a talker, not unless something needed to be said. Which is why the only thing he did was turn his body to face the disturbance and simply remained quiet.
