Name:
Atar Korish
Race:
Human (Korun)
Age:
79 Standard Years
Birthplace:
Coruscant, Lower level slums.
Allegiance:
Himself
Status:
Jedi (Former)
Gray Jedi (Current)
Rank:
Master (Formerly)
Height/Weight:
6'1" or about 1.9 Meters / 182lbs
Appearance:
Atar is at a pinnacle of health for his age, that is due to his connection with the force he is able to overcome the affects of old age and may well live up to two centuries. Most people though, when looking at him see a aging or even already old Korun man with short graying black hair and a groomed beard.
In perspective, Atar is also quite athletic. His body is refined and built from years of hard training and combat. Scars litter his body from countless dangers he faced, some large others small. The largest is on his back, a huge ugly scar running from shoulder to waistband, a credit to a Dark Jedi lightsaber.
His physical features are quite simplistic in turn, his head is quite rounded with the exception of his jaw and chin which are square and flat. His body is of a average build.
As far as clothes are concerned, he is quite content to be in nothing but a simple brown robe with a tunic underneath and some pants, usually hooded and blending into normal society with his head low and his face hidden besides two dark brown eyes peering out from under the hood.
Being a Korun he also has a additional characteristic. That is his dark complexion.
Personality:
Originally, one might consider Atar to be rash and bold. Not thinking before he acts. Though this may have been the truth when he was a padawan, or a initiate. Or even a knight. It isn't true as of present, after years of experience and fatherly guidance to numerous padawans he has become a content, calm and precise person. Valuing virtues that the Jedi council would certainly agree with: Patience, calculation and peace of body and mind.
As a Jedi, Atar was taught to give up any luxuries and thus continues this lifestyle out of a force of habit. He doesn't seem to like or dislike anything, not tasty food or disgusting drinks. Not a large comfortable bed or a floor to sleep on. Nor is he swayed or even distracted by the pleasures of flesh. One favorable past time Atar enjoys however is gambling. He is quite good at holochex as it uses a degree of strategy, but sadly not many play it as a gambling sport. In a second-runner up Atar would choose Dueling Dice, and if not available then he will pursue other forms of gambling, even strange and exotic ones.
If anything could define Atar, it would be "peaceful old man" or perhaps "fatherly, sage, patient" otherwise you can combine the two examples to make "A peaceful wise old man like a father to some."

Biography:
Prologue
Atar was born to two force sensitive parents, his mother was a Jedi Knight and his Father a force-sensitive Korun man. If by chance or fate, the two met each other and gradually fell in love over a peroid of three years before finally 'dating' if you call hushed whispers and secret meeting places dating. They met in Coruscant, his mother Phillipa Ga'Kassls was investigating a possible Sith agent in Coruscant. Atars father Jax Korish pointed her in the right direction and became quite smitten with her and recklessly pursued her affection there after. Though the search came to numerous dead ends, Jax decided to prove himself 'worthy' of her he would continue where she failed, for nearly three years Jax kept in contact with her, pursuing her love. Though Phillipa was a Jedi and taught to have no emotions, one can hardly claim a Jedi gives up all emotion. Its still there, apart of nature. Phillipa was just one of many of Jedi's that pursued relationships with others, often the Jedi that did were young. Sometimes even padawans. They usually ended quickly, but in rare cases they continued their affections.
Eventually Jax found what he was looking for, a Sith agent. A rather inexperienced fledging however. He called Phillipa for help and in moments she was there with two other Jedi who arrested the Sith after a brief fight.
After the Sith was arrested, they continued their relationship. Finally consummating it after a few months, they continued their secret relationship and eventually Phillipa became pregnant.
Of course, this revealed everything to the Jedi High Council. Though one would rightly assume that they knew about this relationship long before she became pregnant. She violated the Jedi code, though it was more of a set of guidelines then rules, she was expelled from the order temporarily until her pregnancy was over. Her children (Supposed they were force-sensitive which was a high chance) would be turned over to the order never knowing their mother and never knowing each other. This was the conditions set in place by the Council, along with breaking ties with her lover.
Chapter One
Atar was raised in the care of the Jedi order, a simple baby at first but grew to be a strong child ready to be initiated. He was put into the Rancor clan of initiates, his brother into the Dragon clan. These clans would sleep together, eat together, train together and learn from one and another. They frequently trained and kept a normal schedule until they got older. They awoke early in the morning to begin training, rudimentary stuff. History, languages, as well the force: Always a popular subject. The clan practiced lightsaber training, blindfolded so they could rely on their instincts. They had their breakfast and dinners and meditation in the afternoon as breaks. Every third or fourth day they would train with the force, lifting light objects, meditating, and using the force to increase their movements and agility. When they were old enough, about seven for Atar. They started more physical training, jumping from pole to pole. Dueling each other, and using different methods of training such as Twin Suns. Once a month they also held sparring contests, the instructors encouraged the initiates to duel each other until one opponent literally couldn't fight anymore, exhausted and beaten. At times a random initiate would be selected. He would then fight the instructor. A seasoned fighter, who gave no quarter. This last fight was often brutal for the initiates, whoever was chosen was almost certain to be defeated at the hands of their instructor who would relentlessly beat them with a training lightsaber. Though non-lethal it didn't hurt less getting hit with it.
In truth, this was to teach them humility, it was also to see who showed the most potential. They want the initiate to beat the instructor, it was impossible. But to outlast his attacks? To not let himself be distracted? To display patience and precision? All of these were essential for the trails a initiate would have to go through in order to become a padawan.
Though perhaps the most harrowing experience for the initiates was having to balance themselves on a pole for four nights. This was done when the weather was supposed to be bad, outside in the rain with no food or water. To balance and meditate and not let themselves be distracted. They were trained in meditation and distractions before, but when they broke their concentration, when they passed this part of the training. They were all starving and their body ached. It was then that they were taught about force healing, how it could be used to heal minor aches or fatal wounds. But when they were ready to be Jedi, they wouldn't need force healing to cure their aches. They'd be able to overcome even tremendous pain when they were ready.
So it was that their training was often erratic and unpredictable. Or so it seemed, in truth they were going down the Jedi Code as described by Odan-Urr. One at a time.
"There is no emotion, there is peace" Involved lots of meditation, they were discouraged from doing any or all emotions including joy.
"There is no ignorance, there is knowledge" Including hours upon hours of visits to the Archives and lessons on history, mathematics, science, politics, and lessons on the force.
"There is no passion, there is serenity" Like the first line, this involved a lot of meditation as well as having them move gracefully. To become one with body, mind and the force.
"There is no chaos, there is harmony" Involving a strong enforcement of order and patience. As well as assisting in charitable actions.
"There is no death, there is the Force" The last part of their training involved overcoming fear of death to accomplish a objective. The initiates would be placed in the simulacrum and place in a situation where they truly believed it was life or death. They had a goal, to get to the other side. Whatever the situation they thought would be more fitting to each individual, if it was a giant monster, walls with spikes closing in around or a Sithlord it was simulated and the initiate had to overcome his fear of death and pride in skill to complete his objective, which varied as well but was normally just to retrieve a object. It was a fearful simulation, if a initiate failed he would be pushed all the way to the start of the training once more. To repeat it all. Atar was put against a rancor, the rancor was at the bottom of a pit and Atar had to jump from post to post on the sides of the wall to avoid falling and get to the other side and grab the flag. Before he could make it to the end however, the rancor climbed up and blocked his path. Atar would have to jump onto the rancor and over him to get to the otherside. After a brief moment of hesitation, Atar did as what was expected of him. He ran up the rancors arm and climbed over its shoulder and retrieved the flag. The simulation ended and the entire room turned back to normal, a simple grid area. The rancors was just blocks that had risen from the floor into a specific shape and so they disappeared back into the floor.
Chapter Two
Atar was now ready to do his Padawan trials. His mother came to see him perform, and even came up to Atar to wish him luck. She couldn't help herself, she wanted to see him. She had watched his training along with his Brothers for all their lives from the sidelines when she could. Though perhaps the emotion was too much in actually meeting her child, she told Atar who she was and who his brother was. Though his reaction was nothing like she expected, it was one of confusion, rejection and resentment. Though the council was willing to let her stay in the order after her previous actions, affecting the growth of a initiate was considered unforgivable. She was deemed hazardous and expelled from the order. She disappeared then, into the vast galaxy and never to be seen again.
After meeting the council and discussing this 'incident' Atar lied about his interest in the situation to avoid being disciplined. He sought his Brother afterwards, he looked around for Syrano, which was his brothers name. Eventually when they met their resemblance was uncanny. It would be the first time they would meet in all their lives. Atar told Syrano the truth, but like Atar he gave a confused look. He denied it all, then took it like a figurative sense. Atar, to prove their blood relation took Syrano and faked illness so they could be diagnosed by a Medical droid in the medical ward. Atar used the robots functions to have it take blood and compare them, the Medical droid proved their blood relation.
They were almost immediately caught by council afterwards, first Atar stood in front of the council because he was the 'instigator' and then Syrano was taken before the council. They were questioned or interrogated more like. Then both were taken into the council for judgement.
The first word spoken was expulsion but another master spoke up to oppose this action and put up a fairly good argument. "Expelling two initiates, to soon be padawans is to insure that they will wander. Their mother is gone, their father died two years ago from illness. They would be lucky to survive in the care of anyone, and would likely be drawn into the dark side. Taken by the Sith and trained to be ones themselves. They would be valuable prey to the Sith, young and easily manipulated with no master and already trained extensively in the ways of the Jedi"
So when judgement was passed, they were allowed to remain in the order but were kept under watchful eye and short leash. Frequently the two then sparred with each other and kept in constant contact with one another until their trials that is.
Chapter Three
Soon the initiate trials came. A demonstration that they had taken in all they were taught, they recited the Jedi Code in front of the council and any attending Jedi then demonstrated their abilities. They proved they were able to fight with a lightsaber but more importantly focus and avoid distractions. They showed that they were attuned with the force through peace of mind and body and demonstrating their force abilities. They demonstrated their knowledge of the force, of history, of math and sciences.
But the hardest part wasn't demonstrating their skills, it was fighting a Jedi Master. Atar faced one, a Nautolan who moved quickly. Atar stood on the defensive, he parried his attacks and dodged his aggressive advances and watched him for every single movement he made, no matter how small. Multiple distractions were made during their spar, loud noises and flickers of holograms. Atar kept his focus though, knowing what they were trying to do. They were trying to distract him.
Atar fought with the Nautolan for a long time, though it shouldn't really be considered fighting since Atar never wen't on the offensive, but he would have to if he wanted to win. So when the Nautolan master started his attack again, Atar took his chance and disarmed the Nautolan. But it was like the master say it before it happened, as the lightsaber was moving mid-air to the ground. As Atar took a downward strike to his opponent to win, the Nautolan used the force to recover his lightsaber and in a instant had it in his hands once more and blocked Atars attack. The Nautolan recovered and made some distance, then turned off his lightsaber and congratulated Atar for disarming him.
It turned out, that the Nautolan had watched Atar and was interested in taking him as a Padawan. So he had himself put as his opponent to get a 'feel' of his combat movements in the duel.
Chapter Four
While Atar found himself a new master and was made a Padawan at the age of 12. Syrano failed the trials and would have to wait another year before being able to do them again.
Atars master was a decisive and confident person, his name was quite complicated that people often failed pronouncing it so he instead took a simpler name of Joba. During the early stages, called a 'apprenticeship' Atar remained in the Temple while his master was out on missions but he was certainly given a lot more flexibility than when he was a initiate. During this time, it was when Atar began meditating and learned the Intricacies of Sense.
Other times, Atar could be found in the Archives assisting the Jedi Librarians as much he could or was allowed.
When his master wasn't on a mission though he would accompany him everywhere unless otherwise instructed. It was a simple lifestyle and Atar compared it to before just a little different. But soon times would change, it was time that Atar constructed his own lightsaber.
The pilgrimage to Ilum was long, once they arrived Atar was told to seek out his own crystal in the Jedi Temple there. So Atar wen't out on his own, picked a crystal and then following a ancient tradition passed down from generation to generation he entered a deep trance. Using the Force to bend and shape the metal of his lightsaber and combining the components needed to focus the crystal. It was a slow process as Atar felt each piece intimately before molding, or attaching it.
How long had it been? Almost a day, but it was timeless to Atar, each hour was as long as a lifetime and it wasn't exactly peaceful as Atar had assumed. Visions and nightmares plagued his mind as he constructed the lightsaber, they were forgotten after Atar came out of his trance but he would almost think it was showing him the future, or perhaps the past. Maybe it revealed things happening now? Or perhaps it was just tricks and illusions. Atar couldn't remember the images he saw so these questions remained unanswered.
But now the young Padawan had a weapon, he was ready to accompany his master on missions and undertake missions himself. From simple tasks to dangerous objectives he would stay with his master at all times unless instructed and learn everything his master could teach him.
Though Shii-Cho and Makashi were mandatory and must be mastered to some degree, along with Serosu and Shien though one needn't master them. Ataru was a specialized form, his master was skilled in it and so he was instructed by his master to fight in it as well.
Compared to the strong yet sluggish attacks of Shii-Cho or the Fluid and precise movements of Makashi. Ataru certainly seemed like a improvement in Atars eyes. To dance around your foe in a duel or to move through a entire army in mere moments? Ataru was a bold and fast form, it was certainly aggressive and lacked any form of defense against a foe besides dodging in the other direction.
Though it would take a year at the least before Atar would undertake any truly dangerous task with his master.
Chapter Five
At fifteen, Atar and his master were given a task to track down pirates who had invaded and enslaved a small colony in the outer rim. Normally this task would be dealt with by the Republic but there are indications that they might have a force user among them. A Gray Jedi that would slaughter normal soldiers as they attempted to board and rescue the enslaved civilians. Accompanying Atar and Joba was a Cruiser carrying about 6,000 men who would be able to combat the pirates own numbers of about 4,300. When the two ships finally encounter each other a vicious battle ensued. Fighters were deployed and the void of space was filled with two Capital-Class ships and thousands of blaster shots flying through the air. To avoid harming the enslaved on the enemy ship, the cruiser was not to fire its main cannons. Instead most energy was diverted to the shields to prevent the enemy ship from damaging the Cruiser. Not that it was equipped for such a thing, mainly equipped to immobilize and board ships, not destroy them. But it wouldn't be the pirates boarding this day.
Atar, with his master with about 60 men took a shuttle and boarded the enemy ship, using timing to ensure that when their shields were down to release more fighters that they would gain access to their ship. The group fought their way through the hanger and up into the control platform, having been alerted of the incursion against them the Captain had overriden the controls to prevent them from deactivating the shields.
Now they would have to make their way to the control tower to be able to deactivate the shield protecting the hanger and allow the others to board and overtake the ship as well as evacuate the captives.
The entire ship was rocking from the explosions outside and the bowels of it seemed endless. Atar was determined and ready but now he wasn't so sure, its one thing after all to speak of combat and another to experience it. Cutting down pirates was again one thing and taking a life was another. So ignorantly had Atar believed that everything was black and white and that battles were glorious. This was not glorious, but they had a duty. A good and honorable goal, something Atar would fight for.
They reached the control deck but the blast door was closed. Koba commanded Atar to cut through it while he watched his back, what remained of the men who accompanied them in this expedition sent off to find the prisoners. Only a few pirates actually came to defend their captain, it seemed most of them were ready to surrender rather than fight to the death. Victory seemed inevitable, even if the captives couldn't be rescued.
Finally, in about half a hours time the blast door was cut through. All it took was a kick to knock it down. Entering into the control deck they faced down the Captain, a elderly Bothan who coughed after every sentence. He attempted to kill the Jedi with a blaster shot, a sore mistake. Koba deflected it easily back at him, the blaster shot pierced his heart and killed him.
The shields were put down and the rest of their forces boarded the ship. The pirates lost any will to fight, the thread that held them together was cut and they surrendered.
Returning to the hanger to rendezvous with the others, they witnessed a ship attempting to flee. It took little effort to disable its engines, a stab with the lightsaber and then breach the shuttles hull. Inside wasn't a ordinary pirate.
It was the Force user, a Twi'lek Dark Jedi who wielded two lightsabers and snarled at the Jedi like they were pieces of meat. Like they were lunch.
The two prepared themselves for combat against their foe. His form was Juyo, since he used two lightsabers what else would he use? He stood tall and clad in a brown duster coat with pieces of metal sewn into the fabric to serve as armor.
Koba engaged first, leaping from one side to the next and striking at his blind spots. Each attack was deflected. Atar, in instinct followed his masters example and charged into the fray. From the front as a distraction so his master might gain a upper hand, It worked partially. Atar was thrown back by a force push which distracted the Dark Jedi enough to lose his footing against Kobas attacks. Forcing him to pull back to reestablish himself and continue the duel. Atar rushed to his Masters side and stood in a ready stance. They circled each other over and over, staring at each other before engaging again.
The sound of a lightsaber swinging through the air was loud enough but when two lightsabers hit each other or rended quickly through metal the sound was overwhelming. Not so much loud, but frequent like small waves.
Using his two lightsabers the Twi'lek seemed to be able to fight two foes at once. He used the force well to his advantage, pulling objects and using weak pushes to make his opponents lose footing and the timing they needed to perform Ataru.
As the battle raged on, the Twi'lek seemed to grow more and more frustrated. Throwing a box at Koba who somersaulted over it and making greater risks to try and land a hit on his opponents. Eventually these risks he would be doing would result in his demise, leaving one opening while taking a swing at Atar and Koba managed to drive his lightsaber through his neck. Atar didn't notice his master finish it so when the Twi'lek let his guard down Atar swung his own lightsaber and took a arm. It happened so quickly, a blink of a eye some might say but that'd be a over exaggeration.
Though the battle was over, it'd only be one of many to come.
Chapter Six
Though Atar received a little pat on the back for his success, his Master also disciplined him, saying that he was too slow and predictable and that if it was just a duel between him and the Dark Jedi then Atar would've been dead a few minutes ago.
Atar didn't enjoy hearing this, he thought he did well enough but who was he to question his Master? All he could hope to do was improve the flaws his Master pointed out and prove himself.
Though for the next several years it was a uneventful, not like the battle against the pirates. Atars master had grown fond of discovering the secrets of the Jedi's history. Making trips to Tython and other planets around the world in service to the Jedi Exploration Corps. To which he volunteered. Though at first Atar didn't favor this lifestyle, his Master eventually taught him the values of knowledge, patience, peace and harmony. It was then at 17 that Atar would make the transition for a bold and rash Padawan to a experienced and wise Jedi. Though his time to become a Knight himself would have to wait, as his Master still had much to teach him. Especially in the passive side of things that a Jedi should pursue more than hunting Sith and leading great battles.
So for several years Atar accompanied his Master on various trips across the galaxy. Collecting and compiling data for the Jedi Order. Learning new things about new planets and ancient things since forgotten in the present.
Meanwhile, Syrano was a Padawan to a strict and disciplinary Master who seemed to control almost every aspect of Syrano's life. The admiration he had for his superiors, including that of his own brother. Turned into envy and his envy turned into jealously then hate.
Chapter Seven
At 28 Atar was deemed ready by his Master and by the council to undertake his trials. The first test was the Test of Skill. In the past it would've been done by performing acrobatic feats while levitating objects in a storm. Today it was done by fighting multiple holograms or even the Grand Master himself as well as other opponents. Atars was and duel between him and a Jedi Master on the Council, with three others using the Force to manipulate Atars senses and attempt to make him lose focus. The main thing here, was to keep away from distraction. A feat harder than it sounds, still Atar managed to prevail using timing and acrobatics to outlast his opponents attacks while ignoring the various illusions used to distract him.
The second was the Trial of Courage. It usually involved Atar undergoing a dangerous task, either simulated or real. In his case, it was real.
Atar was sent to the bowels of Coruscants underworld to hunt down a man who had killed a Jedi. He wasn't a force sensitive but he was skilled and had many tricks to use against the Padawan. Initially it took a while to find him but after scraping away the filth that covered the underworld a unmarked bar was found to be his hiding place. Atar was initially confident, confident he would beat this man easily. His confidence was crushed by the opponent he now faced.
The assassin was a Mandalorian, his armor and weapons were made of Mandalorian metal and Atars lightsaber couldn't cut it. A battle raged in that small backwater cesspool of a bar. The few inhabitants there fled and the two fought each other for what seemed like a eternity. The Mandalorians tricks involved smoke and flash bombs to disorient Atar and traps he set in the bar in case something just like this happened.
A searing pain. Oh yes, this bomb wasn't just a flash or smoke one, it was a incendiary. In moments Atars leg was engulfed in flames, melting flesh and seeping inside his body. The pain was terrible and the Mandarlorian went for the kill.
But Atar, crippled and on fire still wasn't dead. The Mandalorian had too much confidence in his victory and this allowed Atar to trip him. So now he was on the ground beside Atar. What could Atar do? He didn't have much concentration, just pain and determination. Atar grabbed the Mandalorians head and with a scream twisted his neck, a loud cracking noise was heard and the Mandalorian died.
Then all Atar had to do was put out the flames, it wasn't easy but eventually he managed to deprive them of oxygen; burning his hands in the progress. He hit his button on his comms and requested for help. A hour later his Master was there with a medical team. They took him back to the temple and treated his wounds, working on the scars for hours and then giving him a few weeks to rest.
Though it was a horrible experience it did have a benefit. The council saw that the Trial of Flesh was completed after nearly losing a limb from the fire, only two then remained. The trial of spirit and the trial of insight.
The trial of spirit was worse than the trial of flesh. Atar entered into a deep meditation and had to confront his own darkness, he didn't like what he saw. He almost considered giving up on the trials after this.
What he saw wasn't exactly understood, but it was frightening. Atar saw himself fighting a unknown foe, Atar was elderly and in pain. Finally, Atar cut the deathly blow and he screamed in pain. He was fighting himself? And he just cut himself down.
Then he saw a planet, lifeless. Once beautiful and green. Atar felt sadness and despair as the millions of souls on that planet died.
Deeper he delved into his own soul. Deeper he found the worst of the visions.
Atar saw himself standing over a massacre, his lightsaber wasn't orange. It was red. Atar knew he had just killed innocent men, women and children. He stood dumbfounded and in emotional pain, and conflict. The Sith that he was in the vision turned to face him. Then raised his lightsaber to cut Atar down, Atar drew his own lightsaber and fought against himself, his future self perhaps or his future if he does not defeat this evil dwelling inside him. A brief fight, Atar felt anger inside him, this Sith killed a bunch of people INNOCENTS! He deserved to die, deserved to suffer. He grew more and more aggressive, the more angry he became the more he gained the upper hand against the Sith. Finally with a shout he beat his way past the Siths defenses and cleaved his lightsaber into the Siths chest, almost cutting him in half. he thought he had killed it but the kneeling corpse started laughing and he said in a dark inhuman voice "Good, your hate makes you STRONG!"
Atar woke from his meditation screaming, he didn't know what these meant. Had he passed the trial? He was being held by his Master, who was trying to comfort him. Some Padawans had lost their minds from this trial so the concern was real, luckily Atar managed to hold onto his.
What he saw, he never shared it with anyone.....
Chapter Eight
Last but not least was the trial of insight. First Atar had to decipher the high riddles of Dwartii. Then he was tasked with locating a single grain of sand on one of the many rocks set before him.
The second task was certainly tricky. At first Atar tried to use his eyes to spot the little grain, but he gave up on that. Confused on what to do, Atar used the force and the force guided him the grain of sand. The force it seemed would help Atar see through things, no matter how small and no matter if it was out of sight.
Completing his trials Atar was made a Jedi Knight. Though being a knight was a huge step for Atar, it came to his attention that he would have to choose what kind of knight he would be. A guardian? A sentinel or a consular? Atar chose to become a sentinel. He departed to travel the galaxy and undertake various missions given by the council. From hunting down Dark Jedi, taking force sensitives to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to killing pirates and maintaining peace on planets. After a year of wandering and missions Atar requested to be able to take a Padawan. After a month he was allowed, and he made his way back to Coruscant so he might observe the initiate trials.
Though each initiate showed promise, one in particular drew Atars attention. It was a Devorian Female by the name of Krima. She was strong but a bit prone to frustration, Atar requested her as his Padawan and after a week she was given over to his care.
Though at this period, Atar wasn't going on any famous adventures. Most of the time he went to far off worlds and colonies to keep peace among its inhabitants and likewise between colonists and natives. If he wasn't doing this he was exploring new worlds and delving into the rich history of the Jedi. Atar could tell Krima was a bit frustrated at this, she obviously hoped to have more freedom and see new worlds and things. To go on adventures. Such is the way with children. But like Atar was taught so he would teach Krima the values of knowledge and peace. To meditate and unravel the secrets of the Force and the Jedi order. Krima took to his lessons far easier than Atar had expected, if she wasn't doing anything she was meditating and after a few years started saying she was experiencing visions.
Atar had to explain to her that these visions were the traits of a Jedi Seer. That one day, if she wanted, she could meditate and see the future. To predict events before they happen.
Over the course of their Padawan-Master relationship, Atar made sure to convey all his knowledge onto her for both peace and war. Though she saw little action in the way of war, if the time came she would certainly be prepared for it. Atar felt himself raising her like his own child, it was the only thing he could get close to having one anyways. So eleven years later, when he watched her pass her Jedi Trials he was surging with pride.
Chapter Nine
After her, he had two more Padawans. A Bothan named Torga and a Human named Namilla.
They were uneventful Padawans. Torga loved to take risks and pursue dangers. Namilla was shy but was easily provoked, she had high values and was honest. Both good children, after these three Padawans he had a fourth and final one. A Torguta boy called Kasn, at a age of 65 Atar had already had enough experience to give. Atar saw Kasn like a reflection of himself, he was a bold one but adored science. At times he thought he would rely on technology more than the force. A big no in the eyes of Atar who had to teach him to connect with the force, this was perhaps the only Padawan he actually face a challenge with. After two years he and Kasn tracked down and engaged with a Dark Jedi on the planet Ordo. The battle was fierce, they fought with him until the sun had fallen into the background. Finally Kasn got hit, a graze against his cheek, the heat of the lightsaber burnt away his flesh. Atar felt something, a instinct to protect his Padawan. He rushed against the Dark Jedi, forcing him to concentrate on him rather than his Padawan. Atar got sliced across the back for his rash action, but his Padawan recovered and after a brief fight cut down the Dark Jedi, to protect his master.
The time it took to heal the wound was long. The cut almost reached his spine and he couldn't move without causing great pain to himself, it took a long time to heal even with the help of Medical droids.
After that, Atar avoided too much danger that might result in Kasn getting killed. He'd have a scar on his cheek now forever, and Atar would have the scar on his back forever.
So for nine years Atar oversaw Kasn. Raising him like a child but training him like a Jedi, indeed Atar felt like a father to all four of them and when the time came he released Kasn as he did the others, to become a full Jedi after completing his trials. After Kasn did pass the trials Atar was made a Jedi Master, for his years of service and for the Padawans he trained.
There were few Masters among the Jedi, certainly when compared to the number of Knights and others in the orders service. Atar was considered to being a council member, and commanded respect from his fellow Jedi. Though he could have, Atar didn't take on a new Padawan. Now in what he would jokingly consider his 'Old age' Atar spent most of his time in the Jedi Temple pursuing various academic studies.
But his world changed when word reached him of his Brothers turn to the dark side.
Chapter Ten
Syrano had killed a council member, he stabbed him in the back and butchered him like a dog and was now on the run. He had joined with another Dark Jedi who was his "Master" but eventually killed him too, after using his new Master until he didn't need him anymore. Syrano had trouble progressing in the Jedi Order, he failed the initiate trials once then failed the Jedi Trials twice. He grew increasingly troublesome and the Council was concerned with him for quite some time. Though Atar hadn't met Syrano for a great many years he was still his Brother and they had bonded when they were still initiates.
So disbelief was Atars reaction, he set out to see this for himself. After months of tracking he found Syrano, and was shocked at the way he was acting. Like a spoiled runt, who wanted to be the most powerful thing in the world. He attacked Atar, giving him no choice but to fight against his own Brother.
The two fought in the empty swamp of Nal Hutta. They fought for hours but what seemed like days. Atar was superior to his Brother, at least he was now, but in the future there was no telling how Syrano might train and push himself to become stronger and faster so he could defeat any challenger.
When the battle finally seemed like it would be lost for Syrano he fled, sprinted to his ship and left the planet. Atar had no desire to pursue him, his disbelief had turned to a reality. Atar left to return to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant immediately.
When he arrived he started questioning the orders intentions, and eventually left all together with the outbreak of a new war. Atar was no longer a Jedi Master but a Gray Jedi.
Atar had wandered the galaxy for a year, hunting his Brother so he could kill him. In his explorations he also delved into the history of the Jedi, hoping to gain further insight to its lost and fragmented past.
His search eventually led him to Tatooine. Where his Brother followed him for a rematch. The two fought once again, in a canteena then out in the streets. Some of the Hutts men rushed to subdue or kill the two battling Jedi. Certainly they would be valuable to either side in the war, whoever wanted to pay a ransom for their release or to be in their possession or even to pay a bounty for their heads.
Again, Syrano saw this battle going ill for himself so he fled to his ship. This time however Atar followed him and Syrano mocked him, showing off the trophies he collected. Two lightsabers, ones that once belonged to his former Padawans Torgu and Krima.
Now Atar has been brought to a Hutt. After explaining the situation he was given a choice, to be sold to either side in the conflict or die. Or, to do a dirty job for the Hutts to earn his release....
