A weapon designed from the ground-up for snipers at the request of the Republic Army, the AM-10 dares to bring a slugthrower to a blaster fight. Effective beyond a kilometer, the AM-10 features precision-engineered rifling and an ergonomic bolt-action feeding system to put its .30 caliber rounds on target with pin-point accuracy.
The desire for a slugthrower over a blaster was a decision brought on by practicality; blaster technology favours a close and rapid-fire fight and not a lot much more. A glowing, streaking beam is hardly conducive to remaining concealed or quiet; two factors that a sniper places their very life upon and that a slugthrower can provide. Combined with an ease of maintenance in adverse conditions and specialist round availability versus a maintenance-heavy blaster, the AM-10 stands up to the modern-day contemporaries nonetheless, and its super-hot .300 magnum round not only out-ranges most other slugs in its class, but has the stopping power to drop near anything on the wrong end of it.
Weaknesses inherent in most slugthrowers, however, are still present to some extent in the AM-10. Snipers must accurately gauge distance, wind and gravity as the round will be affected by each of these during its flight rather than a 'weightless' blaster bolt. Whilst quiet with a muzzle break suppressor mounted, the weapon is far from silent.
